The problem is there is always a certain segment of any game population that know how to work the system to maximize their gold. It does not have to include turning gems into gold. However that segment usually amasses quite a bit of that jingly stuff but any gold sinks they put into place hurts the rest of the population more. Myself, between my 9 toons, I have yet to get over 50 gold at any one time. I suppose if I only played one toon it would be easier.

It would be a lot easier if they would alter their “Diminishing returns” so the more gold you have in your account the less gold that will drop.

Fighting a Guild group recently, and I will not let on to which Guild or server, the group of about 6 individuals seemed to all be using a hack. All of us fighting them reported them but they were “blinking” instead of running normally making it difficult to target and hit. The only thing we could do was use alot of AOE against them. They would “teleport” from one point to another….run normally….and then port again.

My guess is they were using some sort of porting hack but since long distance ports are easily picked up by ANET they were only using ports of 10 feet or so. That would make it very difficult to discover.

We all thought it may have been lag but we had just taken back a camp with no issues and ran into them on our way to the next camp which again had no issues. Only with that particular guild/group did we notice anything.

I am not sure there is much they can do. They gave warriors more regen, more dps, more mobility, more CC… the CC should have been a Guardian thing and not Warrior but it is too late to change that now without Warriors crying foul. They have stated Guardians are supposed to get into a fight and stay there more or less. By that statement Guardians should have been the masters of Crowd control whereas the Warriors should have been the rabid dog killers.

Hey DH? Why do you all run away so fast when your golems go down? I was picking up baggies all the way from Garrison to Bay! Then I chased an Asuran warrior half way across the map and wondered why he was so afraid of one lone Asuran engineer, after all we are both Asuran. He finally stopped to fight, AFTER he caught up to his friends for help! What is the matter, do not like 1v1 fights? Too even for you?

DH…members of the Olympic sprint team…I have to laugh at those runners when I turn them into a moa with my mesmer…it suits them so well…giant chickens.

And those big burly DH hammer warriors get so angry when you turn them into chickens…. hilarious. You should really control your temper…it will get you killed as you found out.

Do you see yourself in the above?

I feel your pain. Although it was not a chest I died yesterday in the Lords Room while defending a tower. With my turrets and kit deployed and all the conditions I had foisted on the enemy zerg, bags were dropping all around me until the last of our side succumbed. I counted no less then 12 bags arranged in a neat circle around me. In frustration I recalled and forgot to take a screenie. It was a sad sad picture.

Not sure what you guys are doing wrong with your mesmers but mine rocks with an attack of well over 3K. I really have to invest in some larger bags as I continually have to empty them. GS 2 & 4 will tag multiple targets. I can solo camps with him with ease. In fact I have more success with my mesmer then I have with my Guardian and both are 100+ in ranks.

Symbols are one of the most useless things in a Guardians repertoire currently for what use are symbols if they are so easily avoided? Currently I have three characters fully geared for WvW, my Guardian was my first one but I currently am enjoying more success with my Mesmer and he just outranked my Guardian at 104 to 103. I am finding that as other classes improve my Guardian is becoming more and more of a niche toon and is lacking in versatility. Currently gearing up and setting up my warrior.

Guardian….stand in the middle of the battle and get pounded on until you drop vs
Mesmer…move in and out with the flow of the battle

Now considering that in a zerg vs zerg situation the battle will push one way and then the other which character is more advantageous and fun to play? I mean it is quite common to be steamrolled by 3 hammer warriors on the frontline of an enemy zerg and left for those behind them to drive the stake in.

The lack of mobility in combat coupled with a Guardian’s lackluster crowd control is the biggest handicap. In a group vs group or zerg vs zerg situation they Guardian is left chasing targets while the enemy focuses on those the Guardian is supposed to protect.

Symbols are easy to avoid/roll out of, Binding Blades in WvW seldom lands against dodge/rollouts,

Ring of warding with Hammer is so slow by the time it hits any opponent with a modicum of intelligence has already rolled out of the circle.

If a Guardian’s role is to stand and fight then gives us the means to force enemies to stand and fight.

To add just a bit more where it all goes wrong is when you compare Guardians versus Warriors, the other heavy class. Warriors not only have more mobility they also enjoy more crowd control options then does the Guardian. Guardians should be able to control the flow of a fight via CC measures whereas Warriors should be left to pound the enemy into the dirt.

Not sure but I had my Engineer in today and ran across an enemy Guardian. As soon as I attacked the Guardian went stealth and did not reappear until she was 20 feet away from me. Now there is nothing that I know of that will cloak a Guardian who is at full health.

Guardians do suffer from a lack of mobility in combat and perhaps this could be addressed by the adding a cripple condition to “Symbol of Swiftness”. So if the Guardian lays down the symbol and remains there for the 3 second duration the guardian and any allies gain the swiftness buff while any enemy in melee range within the circle would be debuffed with a cripple condition.

One thing I did notice is that it is almost impossible for me to collect dragonite ore with my luck versus the rng. I have everything needed to build an Ascended weapon but for 200 dragonite. I already have my WvW season achievement locked up, already have enough Champions for the November monthly, in fact have all the Living stories done up to date but no dragonite. The only option I have now is to farm Jormag as that is the only time I have collected any dragonite at all.

It is not a problem with the rez mechanic, it is an issue with the gates. If you wanted to fix it so people cannot be resurrected through gates then it would also entail arrow carts, swords, mesmer clones, or anything else that passes “through” a closed gate. Without going into that in depth as it has all been discussed before, the best fix for the mesmer dying by the gate is to fix the timeout timer so it cannot be manipulated or extended. Yes you will still have to post a guard over a dead body but that would be a part of strategy, not an exploit.

Need an interactive map of a tower/keep placed at the Quartermasters which shows all placed siege. For a small fee all siege will be refreshed by the QM.

I mean really now, we have WORKERS in those places that should be able to keep the stuff refreshed, especially on a fully upgraded keep. What are we paying those guys to do once everything is built? Step on their union a bit and put the bums to work!

There have been lengthy discussions on this and since ANET has not waded into those discussions it can be considered a valid strategy. It does make it necessary to place a guard over the corpse. The only time it can be considered an exploit is when the mesmer manipulates inventory in order to extend the timeout timer allowing him to stay dead indefinitely. If you witness that then bug it.

So I needed the Emerald and Sapphire JPs to finish my season achievements but the past two weeks we have been red. So I take my trusty mesmer over to ET’s bl, wander past everything to the JP and run it. Then I port over to DR’s bl and do the same thing.

Strange thing though. I never saw one enemy either running across both maps or doing the JPs.

So thanks to DR and ET I have my key!

lol this from the server that built ac’s and ballis right on the steps of our citadel to the north camp and then had their thieves, engies and hammer warrior parked right outside the blue gate.

Out of curiosity, when was that because I saw HoD players doing the same thing at the same spot on our Borderlands on Sunday night. Just wondering who is being a bad influence on who here.

I would have to say ET as the same group did it at the north camp Friday, Saturday and Sunday! Same group, same mo. In fact we can almost guarantee now that shortly after midnight my time (mst) if ET takes the north camp, that there will be siege set up and people waiting outside the blue door.

Edit: They are the same group that caps a tower (either se or sw) and waits inside to try and farm us. If we do not bite on the tower they will go and camp the north supply.

I ran one JP during last weeks matchup and did not see a soul until I opened the vault only to find an enemy warrior there. He was AFK at first and I hesitated but red is red so I attacked. He must have been making a sandwich as he came back in a hurry but I put him down. Then I felt a bit of remorse, what if the poor guy was not hungry but in the can and sprayed all over himself or caught things that should not be caught ikittenpper? So I did not stomp him. Not sure if he bled out or not.

SM castle will give you 35 points per tick. One keep and one tower will equal 35 points per tick. Now that keep and tower will consume far less resources in both supply and manpower to upgrade and defend then will SM castle.

If you are pressed for time and the enemy zerg is just over the horizon those with siege mastery should be on the rams. However if you are not being pressed there is no harm in letting those without mastery have a turn at the ram so they can fill their achievement quota as well.

We have had that discussion going on in our present matchup and have come to a temporary agreement that although it may be a cheap way to reacquire a keep or tower once it has been taken that it is part of the current game mechanic and not really reportable or punishable.

At first I would not die near the gate with my mesmer but after reflection, if my hiding spot is found I will make the effort to do so and have done it 4 times this matchup. Each and every time however, I was NOT rezzed through the gate. Once I was resurrected by a thief who was also inside while the other 3 times I stayed and kept half a dozen people guarding me while a gate was rammed down.

The only time I reported a mesmer for dying near the gate was when that mesmer used an “exploit” to keep resetting the release timer, something I have never done but it is something I am aware of and we tested it under a controlled environment (thanks to a Scarlet present) to insure that what we witnessed that mesmer doing was indeed an exploit. I have since found other ways to extend that release timer.

So in conclusion the process of having a mesmer die by the gate is a valid one, and actually forces the enemy to post a guard until release. What is not a valid tactic is using an exploit to extend the release timer.

Zerg versus zerg in the open field usually ends up with the larger army winning. Superior tactics may prevail at times but with the rally mechanic, banner drops and rezzing the larger force will usually come out ahead.

Solutions: Remove rezzing while in combat mode. Force those people that have been stomped to recall and re-enter the battle much in the same way as reinforcements arriving in a real life battle. If the battle is over and you are no longer in combat then you would have the luxury of reviving those that have been stomped. Banners, etc. should not revive anyone that is dead. They could still function to quickly rally someone who is down but not anyone that is out.

Against towers/keeps the main issue is that the force in the field more often then not has the advantage. They have access to the supply camps and with the AOE limitations defensive siege is worth little. The first thing an attacking force does is target cannons, oil pots and any siege not placed far enough back on the walls. Now I find it difficult to understand how arrows and such can take out iron cannons and oil pots.

Solutions: Force the need for open field siege against a defensive fortification. Before an enemy force can swarm up to a gate they should have to place siege in the field that can take out defensive siege.

Make the walls on towers/keeps wider. Re-design them so proper placement can be done making that siege useful.

Fix LOS issues with ballista (which is currently practically useless on walls as a defensive weapon) and arrow carts. Arrow carts placed at the base of a wall should not be able to target siege inside a fortification. It is not possible within the laws of physics that arrows can go straight up and then fall at a different angle. (taking away any wind factor)

Walls and gates should STOP arrows.

All of this should allow a smaller defensive force to hold off a larger attacking force making things a bit more realistic. It would draw the fight out longer but it removes the flipping/re-flipping of towers and keeps. A larger defensive force would then have to sally out to take out attacking siege while a smaller defensive force would hold as long as they can for reinforcements or finally be overcome. Coupled with the first suggestion of removing the resurrection of players in a combat zone and you have a much more realistic scenario, even with the limitations of the AOE cap.

Well my Guardian is Rank 104. He solos mainly and can retake a camp before the swords appear. I learned WvW with him and used and abused him. Total deaths 3,433. Guardians cannot run from a fight, we make sure everyone else gets away. So anyone that accuses me of being afraid to die is going to have to face me. Scared yet?

Don’t try to reason with them, those extra 60 pugs are meaningless, of course 60 pugs in EB don’t do anything by VLK’s standard, VLK is the force driving this whole HoD win forward, because you know VLK is doing all the coordinating, those 60 man zerg pugs in EB are uncoordinated and don’t do anything else. On top of that those Rawr and etc pugs in our borderland and extra numbers are just uncoordinated pugs as well, VLK is doing all the work for their server and thus they have a right to feel that the other server is so bad and uncoordinated.

Um Narsil…er can I call you Narsil? I just want to point out a serious flaw in your argument above.

You state HoD has 60 pugs running around EB and those pugs each have 60 men. So if your statements are true and you are not just seeing all those people out of fear then that means HoD has 60×60 or 3,600 people in EB alone. I know that fear makes people’s imaginations run amok and I truly feel for you. However be brave and repeat the following line and it should help “THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE”. I truly do hope you get better soon.

Hi wvw ppls. We’ve had lots of fun on HoD BL converting catapult baits into kills. We didn’t really expect to take down an HoD tower, just to get them out of their little forts and handover their loot bags We gathered lots of data from our little venture and apparently the conversion rate of catapults to HoD bag is about 1 cata for 30 HoD lootbags, although most of the lootbags had nasty spikes and other useless junk in them

We just do not have the time to sort through all the junk you guys drop so we drop a few bags, let you weed out the good stuff from the bad, then take them back again with all the junk gone! Oh I am truly sorry for launching a couple of you off your cata and off the cliff behind Woodhaven. Did the ground hurt much? You should not let children play in such dangerous places!

Lots of blah-blah-we-so-skilled-blah-blah-core-group from HoD’s side.
You’re basically telling us that due to your skill, knowledge, experience and co-ordination you are winning this matchup, but do admit that your larger numbers contribute to that. Fact: Larger numbers wins 90% of the time when PvD-ing.
I hoped that after the weekend madness the HoD numbers would subside, but your Oceanic presence is huge too.

I don’t take anything away from your lead, but please don’t try and flatter yourself by stating that FC has the same numbers as you do and that you only manage your player spread better. That’s BS. HoD has skilled players, true, but so does FC and Kaineng. HoD is not wonderful by any means. You have the numbers, you apply it, you win. End of the discussion.

Not necessarily. Some, like myself just put in a 14 hour stretch….but you are safe now…I need some sleep! I will be back tomorrow er today er later today for some more loot! Besides FC currently has our BL filled so you must have some night shift!

That was me! I made sure to die there but I was not rezzed from the outside. You missed the thief that was still inside who rezzed me when you all inexplicably took off and left me with no guards. So I was rezzed and set a port. Dying there is not the issue and being rezzed through the gate until they fix it is not the issue as well. (although HoD would not do so) The issue was when your mesmer dropped stuff out of inventory in order to keep resetting timer!

Because it took your attention away from sweeping for anyone else inside. I have died 3 times so far at that gate. Twice I was rezzed after our team took down a gate and capped the keep and this last time by a thief who was still inside. Think, if I had died away from that gate you would have continued searching for someone else, by dying at the gate you gave up the search! Simple psychology! Distraction, just like your group will tap Garri and Hills and attack Bay, all a distraction.

When Kain rocketed up the ranks and rolled over HoD in the process only the core group stuck around that week and it was all we could do to hold onto the northern camp and maybe a tower if we were lucky. We all learned to deal with overwhelming odds that week and for the most part that core group knows what to do and where to go without the need for a Commander or even any map chat or TS.

We have those that will routinely solo camps or even two man cap towers because we had to learn how to do all that stuff when following a zerg/karma train was not an option. The secret however is taking those “fairweathers” as everyone loves to call them and teaching them the ropes the way we learned them without censuring them for mistakes made. Those people tend to stick around and grow our core group. If all you teach a newcomer is how to run in a zerg then of course they will leave as soon as the odds are against you. I could easily name 20 people or more from that core group that would make a top Commanders on any server if they chose to buy the tag.

That is why HoD is moving up…..slowly…but we are moving up not because of a pile of new people but the growing core due to how those new people are treated.

Although I died by the water gate twice on my mesmer, both times my corpse kept a bunch of FC busy guarding while HoD rammed the gate down. I was rezzed…from the inside! Had a few people doing a “swim-by” every now and then. It was hilarious watching all the FC congregate by my corpse thinking we would stoop as low as to rez someone through the gate! FC was played at their own game!

Sadly all I require for an Ascended weapon is dragonite ore, the rest is all ready but I may have to take time from WvW and go PVE for it as I have yet to get any dragonite since reset although I am well on my way with the achievements.

Fun fights so far. But seriously, every LV. 80 Mesmer/Engi I’ve came across runs a perplexity rune condition build. It’s hard enough to fight you guys as it is, but adding the runes just makes it that much more difficult.

Nope, not every lvl 80 mesmer. If you were in HoD BL you may have been downed a few times by my Mesmer and he is not running perlexity runes nor is he running a condition build.

I wish to thank FC and Kain. I have not played that much since reset but have 236 kills and 15 world ranks since that point in time. Got to love my mesmer build!

Way too many exploits going on in HoD BL. Hills was literally flipped by Kain with no gates down, and FC ressing dead mesmers through gates three times is a bit much. (I know that you guys aren’t the only ones who exploit… but come on.)

We had a mesmer hide inside inner hills. Maybe you should sweep before you accuse us of exploits

Dropping blueprints from inventory while dead in order to reset the timeout counter IS an exploit and as a warning to you it has been reported. The offending server knows which one I am talking about…. hint it was not HoD.

Strange thing, although our maps were queued most of the night at reset, I did not suffer any lag to speak of which was a shock as I do not have the best internet connection.

…and it would be nice to see all the information on the leagues placed here, on the WvW page, where it belongs, in a sticky. How it will be set up, the goals and achievements that are possible, what type or rewards we can look forward to, the rules on transfers pre and post season, all the stuff that pertains to this new format gathered in one logical spot. If there is any changes in how PPT are calculated, how a servers position during season one will flow into season two…….so many questions.

So how about it Devon?

Hmm I have the skin on an old gs sitting in my vault. It is soulbound but I could possibly make some coin off of it….

Wow. Just checked and the one that I have in the vault is the old style skin, the one with the mufflers and smoke. If the new style is going for 48 gold presently…….

Sadly there is no way to remove and then sell that skin.

Honestly whenever I see someone who I know gets kitten enough to come and post on the forums about it, I try to kill them in the most humiliating way possible, and drop as much siege and burgers on them as I can.

Is that done before or after you get your 5:1 odds and come out from the tower? Just wondering?

Oh EBay I am so disappointed with you. You had our NE tower with 2 people guarding it and one little mesmer outside the walls taunting you. You would not come down to fight, even after I went to the wall and moa’d one of you. Then there were 3! Still you would not come down to fight one mesmer. Four? Nothing doing. It was not until you had 5 people in that tower that you ventured out to face me. By then I was laughing so hard I died rather quickly but that laugh was well worth the death. What in the world were you afraid of? Or is it because you are so inured to 5:1 odds that you had to wait for the 5th person?

Fix "Champ Farming"

I do not have an issue with Champ farming, I have done it on occasion myself, especially when I need champions for my daily. There is only one thing I have against it is that it brings out the absolute worst in people. After a few “circuits” it quickly becomes mind numbing boring and that is when the trash talking, the “yo momma” jokes and the foul language enters the picture. At that point if someone kills a champion out of rotation and denies the “zerg” the kill that trash talk and foul language quickly escalates.

If it does get changed or nerfed in some way it will not be due to the fact that these people were farming champions, it will be because of the attitudes that people bring to the farm. People are more often then not their own worst enemies and it shows a lack of maturity on everyone taking part. When it reaches that point and it invariably does, I move on as immature people bug me.

It is all in the timing. I can beat d/p thieves with my Guardian, Mesmer or Engineer just as many times as they beat me.

With my engie for example I have my crate and turrets and I place them on my perimeter. If they drop refuge count 9 seconds from the moment the house disappears, roll out and drop the crate. Two net turrets, one from the crate and the other a placed one will in most cases hold him until you finish him off. Mind you the perplexity runes do help and with the upcoming nerf to them I may have to adapt.

With a mesmer keep moa in your bar, time things again and moa the thief. You can usually put him down before that spell wears off. The best time to use this is after the thief has dropped shadow refuge. Use GS 5, “Illusionary Wave” on the house. It will knock the thief out of the refuge and reveal him. Immediately moa him and take him out. A thief will drop refuge if their initiative is getting low, it is their last option and it has the longest cooldown.

The main thing is timing. Know how many seconds he has in stealth before reveal or he has to reuse blinding powder
