I’m waiting for the explosive screams of rage when its revealed that completing all achievments related to frost & flame after all 4 parts are released will award a once-per-account molten weapon ticket.
I’d be more than happy if this were the case. I’ve picked up a few keys rounding out gem purchases and some more from leveling/story, but I’ve never picked up anything useful.
I’d like to have one skin from the Flame and Frost thing, but I really can’t put money in without a return.
Of course, It’ll probably be a random soulbound on acquire drop instead of a ticket and I’ll get a focus for my Warrior or something. :0
The Modniir Quarterstaff and Flame Staff are also nice. It would be nice if they fixed the bug on the Flame Staff so it had the effect when wielded. I also like the Aureate Staff.
This is my favorite staff in the game. The way the light swings around is awesome.
People knock putting legendaries and high-end skins on Asura, but with the lower viewing angle, I can zoom in all the way all the time and see my character (and other Asura) really well while I play.
Happens on my elementalist as well. Still here after the 5/26 patch. This affects the trident Steamfire that uses the same skin as well. The particle effects also reappear when you log out and back in. But as soon as you equip the weapon, they’re gone.
They would of made a lot more money and drained a lot more gold out of the game had they priced it with a fixed amount of gems.
I don’t know about that. They have tried several methods over the last few months — selling the skins directly as well as selling them with the lotto box/keys.
I think they know which is more profitable.
I would note that the weapons they sold directly looked like gingerbread cutouts. Maybe the longbow was something you’d want to keep on a character long-term, but most of the rest was going to just take up space in storage after Winterfest ended.
The fused weapons are nice skins. They’re better than the charr cultural weapons or COF weapons and fit a broader range of character appearances than the destroyer weapons. With the best 1H flaming sword being tied to HoM and the best flaming greatsword costing an insane amount, these are highly desirable. They’d have sold a lot better than the Wintersday stuff.
Critical Haste – Increased duration by 1 s
Or something…
If you are going to advertise these awesome weapon skins people can get, next time could you atleast make the drop rate be known? And words of advise.
While I agree with the sentiment, they did say “rare” which is ArenaNet for “we’re ripping you off again” when talking about the chests.
Kind of sad the new fused skins can’t be sold. Let’s make this big living event and make getting the weapon skins from it unobtainable without gambling so some people will just lose a bunch of money and have nothing to show for it. Fun. Kind of kills the enthusiasm for the whole Flame and Frost thing.
Hopefully, we’ll get a fix in tomorrow’s patch…
He used to be a cool ball of energy that flew around – now he is a weird spider thing that crawls…
Anyone know where the wooden soldier is on Tarnished Coast today? I’ve been running around for a couple hours.
I like using the scepter on my Guardian. I use a torch in her other hand. With the range, you can start hammering things as you approach and then breathe fire or swap to a melee weapon when you close. For open world it is nice. Also, because the projectile is slow, you can have a bunch of little balls in the air at once, and hear them hitting in sequence, which looks and sounds sort of cool.
I’m with you, but I doubt it. If anyone happens to not like the sound, they’ll complain and it will be removed and/or lowered to inaudibility, so ArenaNet probably won’t bother.
Try putting a rune in the empty socket of the other item before you transmute. When you transmute, it won’t show the rune in the transmutation window, but it will be there after the transmutation is complete. At least that worked for my engineer goggles.
I’d rather spend silvers on waypoints and karma on Orrian Jewelry Boxes and stuff for my legendary.
People can guest over to another server to loot chests which makes people from that server bounce into overflow, but I can’t guest back to my original server to get my stuff out of my guild chest there. Awesome.
I’m waiting on that patch note too. I’d like to play my warrior again. When I moved to TC and started doing runs, I was the only one with a Greatsaw. Within two days, two more cropped up, and then a fourth a couple days later on a guy I watched finish leveling there. I haven’t seen one since they removed the sound.
I got compliments on and questions about the Greatsaw constantly, but never a complaint. And I was spammed with group requests from the time I logged in until I accepted one whenever I played using it.
It isn’t the same playing without the Greatsaw. And I can’t stand using it without the sound.
Only one I would buy is the Orca quaggan backpack. But you can’t get it through any means yet. It is in the game yet. Here are the previews for the new backpacks:
Pink Quaggan: [&AgFGmgAA]
Green Quaggan: [&AgFKmgAA]
Purple Quaggan: [&AgFemgAA]
Orca Quaggan: [&AgFimgAA]White Charr: [&AgFmmgAA]
Yellow Charr: [&AgFOmgAA]
Orange Charr: [&AgFSmgAA]
Brown Charr: [&AgFWmgAA]
Black Charr: [&AgFamgAA]
Joy. The Orca quaggan shows up as [PVP] when you enter it into chat…
How does the person that decides this stuff keep a job? “Hey, here’s something cool. Let’s not sell it.”
All asuran shoes used to cover the side toes as “shoes that cover the entire foot” was in the public domain. But an asura named Jobsa patented “shoes that cover all three toes” so now you can only get shoes that cover your toes if you buy the aShoe from the aStore cultural vendors in Rata Sum or can find crafted mods and knock-offs on blBay.

50k influence to unlock? Really?and that ascended, I never seen that before, are that earring? please don’t tell me guild commendation is the only way to get those ascended thing.
Don’t you get the commendations by doing the event though? You don’t have to be in the guild that started it to get rewarded for participating.
No… the only people who get the currency are members of the guild who activated the event. Everyone else that participates just gets regular open world rewards.
That sounds enticing. I can’t wait to jump at the chance to help a guild finish this for some blues and maybe a green or two while the guild members are racking up precursors and ascended items.
So much for those of you with small guilds that will supposedly be able to fill out the event with people outside the guild.
Hmm, it makes me think.. Maybe they can redo the weapon master achievement in which only by getting 5,000 kills via a specific weapon type can one upgrade his weapon to a precursor.
I wouldn’t mind this, but 5,000 kills is pretty quick. There is also the problem of dealing with the off-hand only weapons which don’t rack up the kills like a main-hand weapon does.
If I decide to finish my legendary rather than selling off the precursor and mats i already have sitting there, I’ll have shown that I’ve been running penet/shelt for hours at a time, I ran the same dungeon a bunch of times, ground for lodestones on the same mobs, suffered through a bunch of WvWvW stuff I don’t care for, and then threw a bunch of stuff in the Mystic Forge. I’ll have mastered monotony if not Guild Wars 2.
Oh yeah, and I’ll have cut down a lot of wood, made it into planks, and then spent 10 gold to learn a recipe to make it into “The Gift of Wood” which is rather unfortunately named.

I’d like to ask for this too.
I have a precursor now. I’ve had it about a week or two. I’m already bored with dumping everything I find of value into it. When the prices go up enough that I’ll break even, I’ll probably sell it.
If anything, precursors should be more rare so people don’t waste their time and money on them.
It depends on whether the sound matters to you. It was effectively removed in the last patch – you can only hear it if there is pretty much total silence and you crank up the volume to uncomfortable levels, and even then, just barely.
Personally, I think it loses a lot without the sound. But, before that I was very happy with it on my main.
Even if you don’t get the Greatsaw, I’d recommend getting one big thing over getting a bunch of other stuff.

I think there should be a dedicated ERP server. But, what should it be named?
I’ve pressed every costume brawl skill, there is no “POW” animations. My character just swings and punches with no added effect.
Unless you mean actually engaging against a human opponent ,but that would defeat the whole purpose of buying the item in the first place. I shouldn’t have to engage someone to see the animation. I should have it regardless like how it was in the first place.
Edit: I just tried it, “slam, pow, whack” animations do not appear.
Unfortunately, now I wasted my gems because of false advertising.
I doubt they will bother fixing this, but at least edit the item description so people don’t waste gems expecting something that isn’t promised.
Nothing like having something you bought taken away with no recompense. Maybe there should be a list maintained of things that ArenaNet downgraded in quality after people purchased it so people can make a more informed choice about whether to risk spending money or time on stuff.
I do agree that erring on the side of caution is best. For anyone who’s ever had kids who play a gaming system, you know that the sounds can drive you bonkers after awhile. When in doubt, no sound is better. Although I don’t understand why this game is so opposed to customization.
Effectively removing the sounds isn’t erring on the side of caution. Erring on the side of caution would be making a reasonable reduction in the volume of the sound. What they’ve done is called going overboard. The sound is no more annoying than any other at a proper volume. The only reason it was objectionable was that it was louder in comparison to the other effects in the game.
Every sound in the game is annoying to someone.
I hadn’t for months, and I missed seeing what came up. So i identified 40. I could have bought what I received 7 times over with what it cost.
Keep in mind also that those with lots of alts are also those with more real money invested in the game, which may make it more attractive to Anet to want to improve those players’ game experience….
I’ve come to the conclusion that my having spent real money on the game has encouraged ArenaNet to actively try to ruin my gaming experience.
Please bring the volume of the Chainsaw/Chainsword up to an audible level comparable to that of other effects and environmental sounds. Prior to the patch it was too loud, but now it is inaudible unless the volume is turned up so loud that other effects are ear-splitting.
So for people with guilds that don’t allow split representation, does that include personal guilds for guild bank storage? Are people bounced because they level their guild bank or stop representing to access an existing personal guild bank?
Well, here is my old main. From nothing to what I was planning on sticking with for the rest of the game. Not as much fun now that ArenaNet ruined the Greatsaw.
Hello everyone. Thank you for bringing up your thoughts about the chainsaw sounds for the Great Saw and Chain Sword weapon skins from Halloween.
Due to a bug, the sounds for this weapon were not playing originally, and this was fixed after the Wintersday content update. However, due to very popular demand, these sounds were turned down. See this thread for an example of some feedback that we received.
There have been concerns in this thread that the sounds are gone in their entirety, but internal testing has shown that this is not the case. While they are quieter now, they are audible at default volume levels except during intense combat, and the impact sounds for the weapon are also intact. That said, if you know of a way that the sounds for this weapon can be reliably and consistently shown to not cue, we are interested in that—please let us know with a detailed reply in this thread!
We hope you agree that erring on the side of caution is for the best.
As always, we thank you for feedback about issues like this which concern you, the players!
Just to clarify. Are you saying there is no way the volume is going to be adjusted back up so as to be audible? Because it isn’t audible at any reasonable volume setting on my PC. To hear the sounds, whether it is the normal rumble when the weapons is drawn or the chainsaw growl effect when an attack is made requires cranking up the volume to a point where the volume overall is so loud as to be painful.
This weapon required a significant investment for a lot of the people who have it. It isn’t fair to us to completely remove an aspect of it. If you’re going to remove every sound somebody doesn’t like, the game will be completely silent. There is no reason these sounds shouldn’t be audible at all at any tolerable volume setting.
Asura PC: “You’re dumb. You’ll die, and you’ll leave a dumb corpse.”
I don’t think the voice acting is awful. Some of the voices get on my nerves a bit, but that is more personal preference than because they are “bad” as such. I think the female Asura character voice acting is the best in the game by far though.
I can’t hear the sound on my greatsaw anymore either. It was a little too loud before, but now it is inaudible.
Repairs are expensive for the same reason waypoint costs are high. They save time. It is easier and faster to find and use a repair station than find a trading post and swap out the armor.
Also, some people skin their low-level gear and re-skin it as they go. For that , it is cheaper to repair than to buy a new piece and re-transmute it.
Considering how Warrior is UP in PvP I wouldn’t mind some PvP love in return for some PvE hate.
I’d prefer they ignore the complaints and leave things as they are.
Sorry the warrior isn’t just a tank that sits there and takes damage for everyone else.
Trinity is that way —→
Yes the majority is soloable and thats a good thing but its not entirely solo able. I am hoping at some point they will complete the job and make all content solo able including dungeons
I’d be happy if they at least made story mode solo-able. I wouldn’t mind finishing the main story at some point on my characters.
I run out of basic and fine stones all the time. I skin all my weapons and armor from the start and continue to move them over to new gear as I level. That way I can just enjoy playing the game instead of rushing through to get to use the nice skins. So 8-12 fine at start, then a bunch of plain as I go then another 8-12 fine at the end per character. And that’s not counting characters that I play around with more than two weapons…
Unless you’re lucky, the best bang for the buck from the Laurels is the Ascended amulet for power and the minis/tonics for coolness.
IMO always take the sure thing over the RNG.
D. Warriors get nerfs that make them unable to use ranged weapons effectively or be able to clear enough conditions off themselves to be enjoyable and effective in the open world, essentially limiting people to cookie-cutter builds that are enjoyable only in dungeons and PvP.
Amulet, then rings. Repeat for all alts I guess, unless more non-dungeon ways to get ascended gear comes up. Or more ascended gear is purchasable by laurels, then set, then set, then set, then set….
The i5 appears to be the limiting factor for GW2. I have an i5 2500k at 4.6 GHz and two GTX 680s. I previously had two 560s and one 680. No difference in FPS synched to my monitor’s 60 Hz refresh rate – Lion’s Arch is still dog slow.
Other games will benefit from the 670 over the 560 though.
OK, I’m taking a break from studying for a test, so I didn’t examine the OP thoroughly, but what i got was.
Blah, blah, blah. Give people that like to run dungeons more stuff. Blah, blah, blah.
I like the current system limiting people to light medium or heavy.
I’d prefer more options within those categories. For example a light chitinous armor – say a Karka set of light armor. Similarly, more helmets/hard masks available for medium or light armor wearers such as the Prowler helmet and Dry Bones skull mask. There is room for adding more armor-like light and medium sets that don’t cross over into heavy armors.
I enjoy both. I enjoy the open world content available as an 80. But I don’t like Fractals, WvWvW or PvP. I don’t know if I like Dungeons, because I have yet to get into a group to play one in Story mode on any of my characters because I’d rather play than spend time looking for a group. And with a bunch of alts, I always have something I want to do on one of my characters.
