For the love of all that is holy, please remove this from the store and make it a reward for some kind of musical talent challenge. A test of the emergency broadcast system is more pleasant than some of the sounds I’m hearing from this thing in game…
It used to be more of a rumble. When they lowered the volume of the swinging sound, they lowered the volume of the rumble as well so it sounds like an electric toothbrush.
I think the sound is one of the best features of the SAB weapons and are a big part of why I got the weapons. I’m not opposed to a toggle or slider for weapons sounds, but I don’t want to see them removed.
The fused longbow, also currently unavailable and locked behind RNG when it was available, is also really nice.
The problem here is two fold (with regards to posting on negative threads). First of all I don’t post in all negative threads and sometimes I agree with the posts in negative threads. I don’t know white knight mindlessly.
By the same token I know that the biggest percentage of forum readers never post at all and I also know that repetition has an effect on how people think. You probably don’t read a thread and believe what’s being said but a whole lot of people do…and most of them will never post.
By providing a balancing point of view, I’m giving those people a chance to see both sides of the issue.
You aren’t providing a balancing point of view, you’re providing your point of view. And, as you admit, you use repetition to attempt to reinforce your point of view alongside your indirect ad hominem attacks on the people you disagree with. You’re certainly not a white knight.
If enough people play like me, then I’m providing a balanced point of view…that is to say another, seemingly less popular point of view. That’s what balance is.
Not true.
You’re providing your opinion supporting your agenda. If you were truly providing balance, you’d weigh in and suggest balanced, win-win solutions, not simply attack those that disagree with you. And suggesting they play your way isn’t a win-win solution.
The number of people you can get to say they play like you is meaningless. If your ideas are good, they should stand on their own.

I can’t wait to see this conversation in game…
Asura: What’s that thing on your shoulder?
Norn in Steampunk Heavy Armor: I don’t know.
Asura: It might be a tumor.
Norn in Steampunk Armor: It’s not a tumor!

I call BS. These things mostly happen naturally. Maybe at the end of my play session I have to finish one in a couple of minutes, but usually I finish the daily without even thinking about it.
It isn’t BS. There have been a fair number of dailies that I’ve looked at and decided it wasn’t enjoyable enough to bother with or that I wouldn’t be able to complete before the ticker changed. It isn’t unreasonable for those players that have a goal of getting something requiring laurels to dislike the fact that the dailies, which are often rote and tedious, are the only way to get laurels.
Just because someone’s experiences are different from yours does mean they’re lying about their experiences.
If you just want the skin for tooling around in towns and don’t mind not using it for stats, get one of the backpack sets from the TP like the Charr or Quaggan pack. They come with a level 0 accessory you can use as a back item for the wings to make them account bound. Then you can just swap that around for looks on any character you have.
A quick comment here.
When these skins hit the gem store, if you like them and have the means, please buy them, for as many characters as you could use them.
Everyone talks about offering skins directly for X gems being better than hiding them behind RNG boxes…. well, for that to happen, we must show Anet, and above all, NCSoft that that is true, and for them to see that two things must happen… first, people should stop buying as many rich dragon coffers (the regular ones are ok since they’re not getting money directly from those) and skins offered as direct sale must be a huge success to show them we prefer getting them that way.
If they offer the armor for straight sale and the weapons via RNG, I’m in no hurry to get the armor.
I had received enough minis to make it a break even on the number of chests I opened vs. what I could have sold them for, but now that the mini price is so low, I just sell them. I’d have needed two tickets to get pistols for my thief and it just isn’t worth bothering with anymore.
The silver lining is that RNG-box-only skins saved me money since I didn’t buy any.
Alright, this helmet is one of the best helmets in the game and its a great addition to Necromaners or anyone looking for a dragon/demon look, both of which are basically awesome. It is god-tier on Charr, 2 sets of teeth, largest horns in game. Its literally perfect
I agree. I can see people wanting more dye options like doing the horns a different color, but it looks great as it is.
I like the current speed. Fits my character perfectly.
New armors coming. Very high chances of being gemshop.
I was hoping they’d put them in Black Lion Chests. I just got a key leveling an alt, so I’m sure I’d have had a good chance of getting one.
I Won’t play as a Charr cause they don’t wear socks. What kind of a Lunatic of a race DOESN"T WEAR SOCKS?!
Oh, also, cause I really really hate cats in real life and because they resemble one
—>TO ME<--
I won’t give them the chance to show me how fun or interesting they can be.
Charr have built-in socks…
I don’t play any of the male races besides Charr because the actors’ voices bug me.
Add black, gold, silver…
More options are always welcome.
I think the wings are prefect as they are. There will be plenty of opportunities for new back pieces to be added that have the characteristics listed rather than ruining the existing back piece for people who like it the way it is.
Ruin is a pretty strong word there. People are just suggesting the implementations of options, one of which could be to keep it the way it is now. No one is saying they need a complete re-haul of the wings, they just want some more options to choose from.
Ruin is applicable if the changes suggested are made. People are suggesting a global change that either makes them not flap all the time or flap more slowly.
One person, who replied after you, suggested a switch to turn them on or off giving people choice. Odds of that are pretty low, since it is a lot of work.
It looks great to me as it is. They’re a holographic toy, not a means of flight or the solemn remnant of a fallen angel’s heritage. Whether my Asura is dashing around or standing still, they look fitting.
I regularly transmute all my stuff as I level alts. Get in the habit of always putting the item with the skin you want on the left and the other item on the right. That way the first thing you click will be the skin and if you screw up the rest, you can always get another stat item.

I agree. It has always been a little uncomfortable not being able to really look up well. It is more obvious in this event with the fireworks – it is hard to see them after you launch them or even see those launched by others a lot.
I really like the helm on my Asura guardian. In previews, it looks especially nice if you use the Flame and Frost dyes, which really highlight the details and shading.
I hit first, second, first, then lost, lost, lost, lost, lost… Time to grind for some more gold to finish it. sigh…
kitten it i spent 60g on those wings!
I feel your pain, I way overpaid as well. On the brighter side, I sold a bunch of mini knights for a lot more than they’re going for now. I can’t be too bothered about the wings. I was was really happy to get them at the time and enjoyed playing around with them right away.
I think the wing speed is perfect on my Asura. I’d hate to see them any slower. Of all the animations in the game that would provoke a negative reaction, I can’t see this one. If this bothers someone, they must want to stick forks in their eyes whenever they see Twilight or Sunrise.
I wish the minis kept up better (and didn’t run to a place so far to one side and in front of my character almost all the time when I stop). It can be a pain to get a screen capture with both character and mini because you have to wiggle over just far enough they don’t scoot away again.
Although this isn’t an official post, you should probably be safe holding that ticket for however long you need. In the twitch channel yesterday the dev commented on how they wanted people to be able to see all the weapon skins they created, even if they missed the event. So Anet made a multi-tab vendor who currently holds jade weapons, fused weapons, and wintersday weapons.
Did they give a reason for this? I can’t say I’m in a rush to go look at weapons I can’t get.
I want to run around dragging one of those floating dragon kite/balloons behind me….
Down to 63. Might crash the market on the wings if it drops to 5 or so. I’d be glad to see it, even though I already overspent gold on the wings for myself. Its a festival, people should be enjoying the stuff, not grinding themselves into insanity or getting ripped off.
The new holographic ones. I had to un-check and re-check them in the hero panel to get them to show up again.
You know that the wings are alrdy for sale in TP for 50g, right?
And will probably drop even more, cause they drop from normal chests
Bracketed with an order for 8 at 40g. I’d expect more bracket orders and flipping if it drops any appreciable amount. It’ll probably match the 105 gold price for the jetpack.
Cheaper than buying the taffy, but still out of reach for most people.
I was wondering how that was happening. One guy was tanking what seemed like our whole team.
Just so you know, you can actually buy the wings for about 60g on the TP lol.
Yeah, but if you don’t have 60 gold right now, they’ll probably be more than that by the time you get it. Someone already bracketed the low end of the market with an order for 8. So expect the see them flipped and relisted for over a 100g like the jetpack soon.
Either way, no chance for a lot of people. But, they can grind all through the event and get ragged-looking ones. Work to be a have-not…
1,000 gold for the backpiece. 750 if you make and can get people to accept your offers in 250 piece increments. That’s awesome.
Have to agree about the nodes. Unless you use portals, you can’t get to them and the majority of the time they’re gone before the teleport finishes.
I recall hearing the drop rate was going to be generous on claim tickets from the rich dragon coffers. I guess 2% is generous compared to 1%?
I’d like a pair of the pistols. But based on the last couple events in which I got one after about 50 chests and the other nothing after 20 or so crates, I don’t see it happening.
I’ve never really thought about it. Do the animations stay functionally the same regardless of what the off-hand weapon is? e.g. Does your arm stay in the same position if you’re holding a warhorn in your off-hand as it does if you’re holding a dagger or sword?
Answered my own question I think, it looks like it does.
The way I play including constant falling off vistas, falling off jump puzzles, falling off random places, falling off places no one else even knew you could fall off of, going (A.F.K) in a waypoint that often gets contested because I’m an idiot, making a habit of being the first to die in WvW and repeating that over and over until all my armor is busted, and basic stupidity they would pay off in no time.
You share my playstyle. Do you also manage to get stuck in little crevices all over the place?
I like the SAB more than I thought I would. It is nice to make steady progress while still having a chance to get lucky. It would be nice if that were mirrored across the other things.
I wouldn’t mind some solo content that mimics the dungeons. It would really help to get practice playing dungeon-style before bogging down a group. It feels odd that you can do fine in open world PvE and WvW, but then in a dungeon, you’re suddenly worthless.
Stuff to finish my legendary. I’m tired of grinding for mats, and I’m epically bad at jumping and not falling off stuff which makes most dungeons problematic. So spending hours trying to get through a few dungeons instead of having to farm mats would be a better use of my time.
Most of the people who post here seem to hate social interaction. Raids would be a horror for them.
It isn’t social interaction that most people here dislike, it is social exclusion.

You’re the only one not doing good damage, get out.
You haven’t watched the dungeon/event on YouTube beforehand to see the most efficient way to do every bit, get out.In the end, everything where structured grouping is required in this game devolves to this. If you don’t hit an event or dungeon early, as in the first few hours, it gets progressively harder to find a group that you can play through it with. And when you do, you get one or two people that ragequit when it becomes evident it isn’t going to be a speedrun becasue it is the first time for one or more of the group.
This is probably the least true post I’ve seen on these forums. Maybe you’re just hanging around with the wrong type of people. While this element does exist in this game, it exists no more in this game than other MMOs, in fact, considerably less in my experience.
In fact, I only ever hear this happening in speed runs. And in Guild Wars 1, it happened in speed runs there too.
Who do you hang out with? Do you PUG or run with the same people? If you’re claiming you PUG and you’ve never seen this, that would be the least true post I’ve ever seen in the forums.
This is the only MMO I play, so how often it happens here compared to others is meaningless to me. It still happens too often.
How are you pugging? Are you using lfg.com and writing in the notes that you want a casual friendly group, or just joining with anyone randomly.
This is your first MMO so you really don’t realize how NOT prevelant this is here. You really should join a casual guild and and you’d have players to do dungeons with that aren’t random people. But let me put it another way.
Do you walk into a crowded bar, yell at the top of your lungs for someone to hang out with, and then just try to enjoy yourself with the first four people who show up, or do you go to a bar with friends and have good time.
I know for myself, I’ll always have a better time with my friends than trying to get four random people who I can stomach who can stomach me for any length of time. But my friends and I have a blast.
Stop pugging and make some friends. It’s a much better way to play an MMO.
I said this is the only one I play, not that this is my first.
Go to a bar with the guys and only interact with each other? That’s a bad night at the bar.
Why would I want to be friends with people that are cliquish and can only play well with a certain group of people?
The people whose solution to everything is “join a guild” seem to be the people that make the idea of joining a guild least appealing…
I’d like to the Halloween skins available again. They’re cool looking and it would be nice to see more of them around and give new players an opportunity to get them. It would also give me hope that I’ll get another, hopefully less ridiculously rare and random, shot at a Fused longbow and Sclerite rifle some time in the future.

I’ve never seen it either.
I only see that kind of negativity on these forums.
In game I PUG a LOT, and I never see this. But I don’t do CoF exp. Other than once for each of them to get it on my achievements list. I know that’s the place farmers go. All the negative minded people will be there. I avoid it.
The only farmers I’ve seen with a negative attitude are the ones in places where they can limit who else farms because of forced grouping. In open world PVE, people who farm are pretty much universally helpful IME.
I enjoyed farming the skulks in Southsun when they spawned at a decent rate. You’d show up and work into a rhythm with the other players organically. People would start doing things like herding to each other, tagging just enough to get their share, whittling at the nests so they’d be ready to pop during a lull, popping group speed buffs and dropping banners, etc. Now, if someone shows up, odds are the person there will leave.
I don’t see how getting rid of a place where people went and played together was a positive.
