So it turns out ANET love spoilers...

Spoilers ahead, dont read if you havent already seen the trailer.

I mentioned this a while back and things seemed to go in the right direction but its gradually gotten worse to the point that I feel a post is needed. I hope this is at least passed on to the team in charge of making the trailers for the up-and-coming content because I think this is a huge sticking point for the game going forward.

So I understand you wish to advertise the new content in the Living Story and this is fine as it attracts old players back and hypes the current players up. This I have no problem with. What I do have a huge problem with is the trailer essentially showing whats going to happen in the next patch, namely Scarlets minions attacking and burning down Lions Arch. I know exactly what the next installment of the living story entails and ive not even logged in.

So here’s an idea of how I would change that trailer- keep the LA part at the start but replace the Aetherblade pirate ships with the sound of one then fade out. Fade back in to screams and to the odd bit of burning rubble, fade out to the title. This tells the watcher roughly whats going to happen but doesnt throw images of a burning Lions Arch at us.

For so long ive wished that GW2 would keep secrets, surprise me for once but nothing has happened and im playing less and less because the game is currently so predictable. Sure I can ‘ignore’ these trailers because maybe im in the minority in not wanting to know whats coming up. The point im making is that you can still make trailers but without showing us exactly whats coming up. How many people are going to see that and say ‘not interested’ and wont log in? Be more cryptic and maybe a lot of those will at least want to try the content (and view the gem store) before saying it doesnt interest them.

tl:dr Im tired of spoilers in GW2 trailers, please try something new like NOT telling us what exactly is going to happen.

Suggestion: Dungeon Tokens

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Thereon.3495

In my opinion suggestions like these are detrimental to the game. Essentially youve just told us that you hate A and like B, so want A’s rewards from B. Well I could say that I hate world completion (a bit of a lie but anyway…) and ask ANET to make the Gift of Adventure available as a random drop in the daily chest because I enjoy doing dailies.

If you want a reward based on completing a task then you should have to do said task and earn the reward. The only exception would be turning certain tokens into gold but by and large we can do that with most if not all of the tokens in the game. This is coming from someone who has a shed-load of WvW tokens with little to do with them…. I just think that this game is easy enough without making it any easier.

Raising Camera Height A Tad Would Do Wonders

I touched on this topic a few months back. It is important to see the ground for AOE based skills but for me the epicness of a fight is lacking when half of the boss/mob is obscured by its own name tag.

The First Person Mode introduced soon will definitely help but I cant see why a height adjuster couldnt be implemented.

Scarlet is the Best Villain

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Scarlet is unanimously held to be the worst character ever created in media ever.

Where was I when this vote was held? After reading this one sentence your entire post was written off. Sure you dont like Scarlet, we get it but for you to then say that the rest of us hate her…. that I hate her?!

Scarlet, just like many of the characters in GW2, are great in themselves but are let down twofold by the disjointed way in which the Living Story is released and the pressure from the ‘hardcore minority’ to provide repeatable content worthy of their time rather than a well structured, in depth story.

I personally love that Scarlet has, for so long, seemed like a maniac with a huge amount of power in the mold of Heath Ledger’s Joker. Now things are changing and we’re slowly finding out there is a master plan and it probably involves an Elder Dragon. Its taken a long time (maybe longer than it should have) but im looking forward to the next few patches.

Are Axe Warriors About to Suffer?

Thereon.3495

This debate could go on forever so moving on….

Its all well and good stating that there could be an issue with the two axe traits but what would I do to rectify the issue? In my opinion (notice this word people!) the Greatsword is a weapon used far too often for Warriors in PvE and its about time it received some changes. I personally would swap positions for Forceful Greatsword and Sharpened Axes. Why would this help? It would be the Greatsword that receives the Crit Damage change plus it would have the added benefit of making people choose between Destruction of the Empowered and Forceful Greatsword instead of choosing them both. Axe damage gets a slight increase in the form of Crit Chance instead of Crit Damage, Greatsword gets a slight damage decrease in making people choose between traits. Numbers may have to be balanced of course.

….and this is where I get a torrent of abuse from Twilight/Sunrise/Eternity users!

I disagree as my point still stands- picking the two Greatsword specific traits will not result in a change post-nerf whereas picking the two Axe specific traits will result in a reduction in damage.

For the record I am a GS/Axe+Mace Warrior myself and only trait 15 into Discipline for the weapon swap minor trait. Overall damage WITHIN A PARTY is increased by taking Attack of Opportunity as opposed to traiting further into Discipline but this fact is neither here nor there.

Really wish people would read before replying -.-

Sharpened Axes is in the Discipline trait line which gives passive bonuses to Burst recharge and CRITICAL DAMAGE. As for overall damage reduction this is besides the point. My original post is to bring attention to the fact that Greatsword builds in PvE are already the ‘must-use’ build for damage and nerfing Axe builds more than GS builds will do little to change that fact.

Also, just as a separate point, its been stated from some sources that it will be a 10% reduction in Crit Damage but from other sources that it will be a 10% overall damage reduction. Hoping its the former.

The crit change doesn’t effect axes more than any other weapon.

Focus more on the builds that GS and Axe Warriors use as opposed to the actual weapon stats themselves.

Axe build:
1) Sharpened Axes – a reduction in damage due to it being in the Discipline trait line.
2) Axe Mastery – a reduction in damage due to the trait itself.
3) The equipment nerf- Crit Damage reduction in general.

Greatsword build:
1) Slashing Power – no reduction in damage post-patch
2) Forceful Greatsword – no reduction in damage.
3) The equipment nerf- Crit Damage reduction in general.

Dont get me wrong, im one of the few Warriors that will welcome the changes to Crit Damage in general but it seems as though Axe Warriors will be hit harder than Greatsword Warriors. The pressure to use a Greatsword has always been there in PvE due to 100b being so kitten good so I did hope that I could eventually ditch it. With this balance update im not sure how its now possible because now there is even more reason not to trait into an axe build.

Some of the devs said during the Twitch livestream that the major balance update in a couple of months time will see major changes to Rangers but that they are unable to speak about it. They did mention, however, that traps could be given combo fields.

All you can do is wait a little while I guess. My alt is a Ranger so I too am hoping for amazing things.

EDIT: I disagree with Cat’s post entirely. Specific builds arent needed in 90% of the game and the sooner people realise that the better. The only exceptions are higher level Fractals and world events but standard dungeons are fine with any class, any build unless youre speed-running in which case id say you take a long hard look at why exactly youre playing GW2.

Sharpened Axes will not be affected. It grants adrenaline on critical hit, which is not the same stat as crit damage %. As far as Ax mastery, it remains to be seen whether traits that add a percentage will keep that percentage or will be converted to Ferocity.

The Sharpened Axes trait itself wont be affected no, but it is in the Discipline trait line. Anyone wishing to choose it (ie: those that want to use the max number of axe traits) will have to trait into a line that used to give 20% crit damage (master tier) but will now receive ferocity.

As for wrong forum, feel free to move.

We have been told that the changes to Critical Damage will mean that ‘pure crit’ builds will lose approximately 10% damage. In trying to create a new build for my Warrior today I came across a worrying fact when trying to build a high damage axe-based character.

The Sharpened Axes trait, beneficial for axe skills, lies in the Discipline trait line which uses Crit Damage in its stat set. In addition to this Axe Mastery in the Strength trait line improves critical damage while wielding an axe in your main hand. There is therefore a threefold nerf in Warrior axe builds when you include the nerf to equipment.

In times where Warriors are pressured into using a Greatsword, Axe builds receiving a nerf such as this really doesnt help build diversity. I wonder if there are any plans in place to address this issue along with Celestial equipment.

Saying that the new pick is ‘P2W’ is false. Pay to win means those that pay with real life money have a distinct advantage over others that dont and considering everything in the gem store can be bought with in game gold, how can the pick possibly be ‘P2W’?

Its no more ‘P2W’ than Ascended armour is. I mean you can convert bought gems into gold and buy 90% of the mats the same day. The majority of people are moaning on here because they no longer own a BiS item but things move on, items get better. I purchased a full exotic set for an alt a few weeks before the Ascended patch thinking it would stay BiS….doesnt mean im entitled to a full ascended set.

Get mad all you want but dont say the pick is ‘P2W’ because its not true. I welcome this change and look forward to seeing what ANET come up with next.

I don’t understand why people complain about the crafting booster, it saves a lot of cash when taking crafts to 500…

Crafting boosters only work when youre basic crafting. They do not give their effect when discovering new recipes, which is the primary way to level up crafting. In addition to this fact, im master crafter on my main (with two 500s), have two 500s on my alt and two 400s on another alt so ive really no use for the 26 boosters currently sitting in my bank.

Ive noticed that, since the change, the loot received from opening a chest has been pretty poor but this could just be down to luck. A couple of days ago I recieved a Crafting Booster + 2 Mystery Tonics + 1 Mystery Tonic. Harsh but it wasnt as if I bought it off of the gem store.

First off I understand the whole ‘bonding with my character’ thing. My main not just a few pixels on the screen for me, she is her own character with a backstory. She isnt real, but thats not to say she isnt important to me.

As for your suggestion I disagree that a conversion is even needed. Reroll another character using the same name and looks etc and think of it as a rebirth of your main. Make up some story in your head that your main got injured during battle and couldnt be saved, but Asuran technology put him/her into another similar body. Give the new character some differences in appearance, saying the process isnt perfect.

The new character isnt actually new, its a new beginning for your main. Think of it in that way and youll realise that you arent losing a character, youre merely taking it down a different path. Its all about using your imagination

While this is an interesting concept, implimentation would be a nightmare. You would also have lots more people complaining that they dont have the time to spend leveling and therefore will never get the bonuses. Also you have to ask yourself…. why?

1) The ability to change race – should never happen as it would break immersion and wouldnt be based on GW lore
2) Some added skills – may or may not be useful and could be implemented in the standard fashion of, well, making new skills available
3) The % to stats – would cause issues with balancing (PvE and WvW) and isnt needed.

User-Generated Content

Thereon.3495

Another thought came into my head this morning while I was drinking my coffee (not relevant!). Would it be possible for users to create arenas for PvE content?

Picture this- you pay for a PvE arena with xyz currency (lets be honest, it would be gems). The idea of this room is for you and your friends to go in and take on a challenge. That challenge involves waves of mobs spawning and objectives to complete. The idea is that everything can be customised- the mobs, their spawns, the objectives, the cover (walls, objects etc)…. maybe even new rooms.

The trick is that the mobs themselves are holograms (thank you Scarlet for your tech!) and you would start off with only a few mob types. You would be required to go out into the world and collect scans of x number of a specific mob to then input into your crazy computer device thingy. Same goes for cover- you would have to scan certain items in the open world. You could say that certain world bosses are unable to be scanned for whatever reason should the devs think that having your own personalised world boss is a little too far-fetched!

You would start with x amount of resources which enables y amount of mobs to be spawned and have a way of upgrading the computer to spawn more mobs. You could also enable traps to be placed down to imcrease difficulty…. the options could be endless. You could also create a story around all of the above- holo-mobs escaping and terrorising Tyria.

What would PvE arenas bring? Well players could challenge other teams to complete their arena in the fastest time possible… or maybe just complete the challenge! Players can make their arena as hard or as easy as they wish. You would obviously have to make it so that mobs dont drop items to stop the farming but I think it could be an enjoyable way to spend an afternoon, trying peoples arenas either as a group or on my own.

Randomisation

Any ‘randomised’ dungeon would have to be in addition to the standard dungeons but the idea is that they have loot unique to them.

Procedurally generated dungeons are the first thing that pops to mind when thinking about ways to randomise dungeons but ultimately the idea is to make dungeons exciting again and the first thing I can think of that would do that is unpredictability. If there are any other ideas that would create excitement feel free to speak out as id love to read them!

User-Generated Content

Thereon.3495

Part 1- Randomisation

2) User-Generated Content
We all know that there is one area that GW2 excels at and thats character customisation. You can change pretty much everything, from facial features to body shape, armour and its colour, hairstyles and the weapon model. Each new model takes time. Weapons, armour, features- they all need designing and implementing and not everything is to everyones taste. But there is one thing that has bothered me for a while – why havent the devs given players the tools to create content themselves?

There are two ways to go about this:
a) Run competitions through the forum/website where players can send in their designs. Winners get in game items as prizes, devs get free designs and more time to work on other things, no one loses out. There are a lot of talented people out there…. let them take some of the workload off of the devs.

b) Give players in game tools to create. Split items into their constituent parts and have the player craft each part separately. Im not just talking Ori>Ingots>Sword Blade here. Im talking about finding rare blueprints in the treasure chests of dungeons… mystical metal that has come from a Balthazar’s armour itself deep in a cave under a pile of old stones…. gems that used to adorn royal crowns…. and just plain old pig-iron from a mine somewhere. You can craft the basic weapons with a bit of effort and adorn them with jewels that you find (slots maybe). You can then replace any one piece (blade, hilt etc) when you wish to ‘upgrade’ your looks or make a rarer looking weapon. Same could go for backpieces, armour etc. Could even make customisable weapons the new legendaries.

Enable players to create their own items and youve got infinite possibilities. Give players the ability to create truly unique, truly rare items (be it in looks only) and youve got the ultimate customisable game. The crafting system could also receive a much needed boost- create a ‘joint use’ crafting bench where one person can craft an accountbound item for another for a fee. Advertising boards to remove chat-spam.

Let me know what you think below!

tl:dr Version of both threads
Randomise boss skills and dungeon paths and youll create exciting content where the player truly doesnt know whats going to happen.
Allow the players to design their own items, either via website competitions or in-game customisation tools. Giving players the tools takes pressure off of the devs and allows for looks that are unique to the player. Also adds a whole lot more mats to collect (rare and common) as well as boosts the crafting system.

Randomisation

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Thereon.3495

Thereon.3495

The first of two posts by me- apologies but it seems that when I get typing I get into all sorts of trouble with word limits!

I’ll start off by saying that for a long time now ive been happy with Guild Wars 2. Things are far from perfect and there are many things id like to see added and changed but for the most part I was happy enough plodding along, accomplishing my personal goals and having fun with my guild, waiting for the next patch and the next bit of ‘huge news’. But I feel that certain things are lacking in GW2 and would like to voice what I think could solve these issues.

I understand that only a set amount of content can be created by the devs in a set amount of time. I respect the work and understand that they are putting it out to the best of their ability and yes I largely do enjoy their efforts. But I feel that there are two major tools that they have failed to make use of:

1) Randomisation.
Its all well and good giving a boss a skill set but give it a week of fighting the boss once a day and you know whats going to happen and when its going to happen. The Tequatl update was a huge addition to the game and one I welcomed but as time has gone on I see now that more could have been done to make the fight more engaging. Imagine if Tequatl had….eight different skills. It throws five of them out randomly and three based on what is happening on the battlefield. Skills that actually target groups of players. What if Tequatl had a % chance at spawn of replacing a basic skill with special skills? What if he brings different minions each time he spawns each with different skills? What if the batteries are sometimes rigged so that one will definitely blow? I could go on but you get the picture. Randomise the world boss fights and you bring to the game something that I feel is sorely lacking- excitement. Each fight something different occurs and you have to rely on your skill to overcome the challenge thats presented to you.

Ok so now picture this- youve fought the upgraded Tequatl and you want to go dungeoning. You choose to go AC and get a party together before traveling to PoA. You go to the door and you see another portal. This one is swirling chaotically, shifting all over the place. You choose to enter and your party get whisked to what looks like a perfectly normal AC staircase. You proceed through the large door but wait… that corridor wasnt here before. And neither was Kohler. What if you could choose to enter a more chaotic, ‘randomised’ version of AC? Or any dungeon for that matter? A dungeon thats different each time you walk in. Some could look the same but have different mobs…. some could take parts of other dungeons. Procedurally generated dungeons that offer unique rewards like skins or mats used to create unique items. If ‘procedurally generated’ is impossible with the GW2 engine then create portals between areas and have a set amount of areas per full dungeon. A more compact version of Fractals. Randomisation is the key to excitement- if you dont know whats coming you have to react to it as and when you experience it. No preparation, just thrown in at the deep end.

[Merged] Think "Mounts" outside the box!

in Suggestions

Posted by: Thereon.3495

Thereon.3495

In asking for opinions on mounts youre in effect asking three questions:

1) Would I want a mount instead of WPs?
A) Yes so long as mounts wouldnt give more than 33% movement speed (swiftness).

2) Would the game benefit from mounts?
A) Yes and no. They would be an awesome thing to collect and could add new mechanics to the game such as mount evolution. In the long run however they wouldnt bring much to the game that WPs dont already…. and seeing everyone sitting on their mounts in LA would be intolerable.

3) Do I think they will ever be a feature of GW2?
A) Definitely no. As many have mentioned GW2 likes to deviate from the ‘standard model’ of MMOs as much as possible plus the logistics of creating mounts is enormous in GW2. Imagine having to make sure every piece of armour of every race and class dint clip with the mount? Wont happen.

Was tempted to make a thread myself but I guess replying in here will have the same effect. I really do hope ANET read this post.

Ive been playing since launch and the one event I can always remember was Halloween 2012. The content was varied but not too much as to tie you down for long periods of time. After 4.5hrs I finally completed the Clocktower and I can honestly say it was the most worthwhile thing ive done in GW2.

Fast forward to two weeks ago and im all excited! The thought of new content gets my heart racing! Maybe a new Clocktower? Maybe a new/revamped dungeon? Maybe some more mini games to play and a whole new story? Well Halloween comes around and im thinking “okay….this is a little lackluster… but in a couple of weeks time maybe more Halloween content will be released!”. I was wrong.

Last Halloween was the best time ive had in GW2. This Halloween has been a shambles. Apart from the new story and 10 min instance (doesnt even classify as a boss fight IMO) there is half of the content of last year and even that is recycled! For so long ive defended the Living Story and said to countless people in my guild and in map chat that the Living Story was a very good way of making regular content. This Halloween is the first time ive been forced to swallow my words.

Its almost as if ANET didnt have a team working on Halloween just so they could get the Tower content out. In my opinion ANET should have given us a proper Halloween holiday of one month and waited with the Tower content until its officially over. Hell….you can easily tie the two stories together even! Mad King’s influence in the real world yada yada.

Im disappointed in ANET for not giving us a proper Halloween and hope that this isnt going to happen again with the other holidays.

I think no one can doubt that one of the games strengths is the visuals. I just feel that with the camera as it is a lot of these visuals are lost. I find myself running around maps looking at the floor because each time I look up I zoom into my characters backside!

A slider would be amazing and would change this. It also doesnt seem to be hard to implement. What would be even better would be a 1st person mode. Maybe limit it to ‘out-of-combat’ to avoid the issues fighting in 1st person would bring but yeh, it would make for some epic screenshots and even more epic adventures as you actually explore maps instead of just running from point to point gathering WPs and POIs.

The Overflow 'Issue'

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Thereon.3495

Thereon.3495

I’ll keep it short and sweet because a) im no good at writing walls of text and b) I dont want to bore you! I personally think there is a real issue with Overflows that have affected core parts of the game.

The first we all know well – world bosses such as Tequatl. Without being able to control who gets into the main server youre left with a mix of great players, newer players and guesters causing all sorts of chaos. The rest are resigned to an overflow which rarely (from my POV) get the fight completed. In order to get into the main server youre required to sit around waiting, saving your space.

Second we have the issue of champion trains throwing many into overflow. Ive personally stopped doing Jormag because each and every time ive tried to get in its thrown me into an alternate server.

Now im not for a second saying anything should be nerfed. Champ trains should stay. If people want to participate in that content (I see it as mindlessly boring but thats my opinion) then let them. Same goes with Tequatl and the other bosses when they get patched- the fight is fine, as are the rewards. But in my opinion something does need to be done with regards to overflows.

Possible solutions? Well the obvious one seems to be that you should be able to choose your overflow. Ive heard that this was a key part of GW1 but cant comment as ive not played it. But the ability for people to choose an overflow and/or see how full each one is seems to solve most of the issues.

What about limiting champion farming to overflows. As it stands those that farm champions are stopping others doing other content on these maps. Why not have it so the boxes only drop from champions on overflow (in addition to the ‘choose your overflow’ idea)? All the farmers would have a place to go and enjoy themselves without impacting on anyone elses game.

Can anyone else come up with some ideas to solve what I see as a major issue with the game? As each of the bosses get a revamp I can only see this issue getting worse.

Was it Really a Good Trade?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Thereon.3495

I like the idea of the Living Story and think that it is a good trade. With that being said im not saying the Living Story is perfect. There are two things I feel need to be improved:

1) More emphasis needs to be placed on the story itself. Time and time again I find myself popping over to WoodenPotatoes youtube channel to have him explain the story to me in full. Maybe a way of doing this in game would be great?

2) I think more new and interesting ideas are needed. At times it does feel like a bit of an achievement grind. I do enjoy a lot of the content but I feel new and interesting ideas can be implimented without the need to attach achievement points to them.

Oh and FYI ANET have never said they will never release an expansion. It is one of the things open to them. They have only said that, technically, they dont NEED to because they could release everything an expansion entails in the Living Story. Just wait and see what happens.

Wholeheartedly agree! Id like to see more challenging content put into the game.

Only criticism? I think the new content shows the need for improvements in key parts of the game. The ability to choose overflow, for instance, would ignite guild play even further as guilds themselves try to take down Tequatl without having to worry whether everyone is on the same map.

I saw this post and instantly thought of my ranger. Call of the Wild seems to agro whether I have a mob targeted or not, which then causes my pet to attack. Switch to my main, a warrior, and neither warhorn skills will agro.

Have been hoping for a fix for a while but its not a huge deal, I can live with it.

[Noes] Calling ALL Piken Square Guilds!

in Looking for...

Posted by: Thereon.3495

Thereon.3495

Who Are We and What Do We Do?

We are a PvX guild made up of members from many different European countries although English is the language spoken by all. We participate in guild missions twice a week in addition to weekly guild events where interesting prizes can be won and fun can be had by all! We also run both a guild lottery and a guild raffle every Sunday.

We run multiple WvW events per week with commanders leading the group on small and large scale raiding parties. In addition to all of the above we have a dedicated website/forum (link at the bottom) where we post both helpful information, fun activities and forum events and own a private Teamspeak 3 server.

We have also trialed a sPvP ladder within the guild. Currently we have heard good things but this format is still in development. We have multiple active PvP’ers in the guild and a private Custom Arena.

Why Am I Asking for Guilds?

As well as recruiting players without a guild we have floated the idea of guild mergers. Are you currently leader of a guild on Piken Square and feel that your guild is struggling? Do you feel like youd be happier in a larger guild, conversing with many new people? If the answer is yes then maybe you would be interested in integrating your guild into Noes? Positions can be discussed prior to the merger (while we cant give joint leader roles we can offer officer roles).

That Little Bit Extra

So up until now i’ve listed many of the things other guilds can offer. Why should you join us over them? Community. Our main purpose is to make things fun for everyone in the guild, providing more than just a place to chat. We like to think that we can provide a GW2 family for you. So if you’re willing, able, tolerant and want a little extra fun in your GW2 life then give me or another officer a whisper in game and we can see what we can do for you! Any level of player welcome!

Why southsun is dead? Solutions for ress it

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Thereon.3495

Thereon.3495

Adding nodes to inflate the population of Southsun doesnt really solve the issue.

Well lets ask ourselves what they ‘promised’ Southsun would deliver. It was challenging content that would require a team to complete, that gave exciting rewards that were above average. Now im not saying thay ANET arent planning something already but something could easily be done to increase population.

Keep the difficulty high but add some group events to the place that spawn Champions. I personally think Champions are ruining the game but it seems to get people to places they otherwise wouldnt go. Also re-make the Karka Queen fight (in time of course) using Tequatl as a reference. Id love to see a ramped up Karka Queen terrorising the place plus the camp clearing events would get done each and every time!

The area has so much potential but it needs to be utilised much better than it currently is and we can all agree with that I think.

Please add a Language Filter to LFG tool

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Thereon.3495

Thereon.3495

The arguments here are trivial at best! If someone types a LFG in German, as an English speaker I can only assume that theyre only looking for fellow Germans to join. Its just like when, for example, a Russian guild advertises in map chat. I dont assume that they’ll accept pure English speakers. Theyre looking for Russians and there’s nothing wrong with that!

If indeed they are looking for players that cannot understand German and are advertising in German then theyre just bad advertisers! Everyone needs to stop being so touchy!

Good Way to get rid of Trahearne

in Suggestions

Posted by: Thereon.3495

Thereon.3495

Im another that doesnt understand the hate for Trahearne. I think the majority that hate him dont fully understand his role in the personal story. He rises to be the leader. The top dog. The guy who eventually gives all the orders. Your job is his right hand man/woman. Youre there to help him and in turn he thanks you and helps you to realise that fights arent won with just you. Its a team effort.

Lets also get one thing straight. Youre not THE hero, youre one of many. The personal story isnt about how YOU took down Zhaitan and his minions, its about how you formed part of a larger TEAM to, step-by-step, dismantle Zhaitan’s forces and then take him down. Too many people assume that personal story means that youre the most important character. It actually means its the story of how YOU helped to take Zhaitan down.

Going back to Trahearne….I think the majority of people just dont understand him and the way he’s been voice acted. He’s meant to be a fairly reserved, learned character who has been thrust into the leaders position. He’s not going to have the voice of Hercules….he’s got the voice of a scholar. He goes on to make bold decisions but that doesnt change who he is.

Ability to Pan Camera Upwards

in Suggestions

Posted by: Thereon.3495

Thereon.3495

The current camera shows a lot of the floor which is a great idea because you can see a lot of the AOE damage spots around your character. But certain circumstances you might not need or want to see AOE circles on the floor because this causes an issue- the name tag of the boss/large mob youre fighting obscures the boss/mob itself, even with the highest resolution and the smallest UI available.

Now I bet youre thinking….so? Well in my opinion boss fights could be made more epic with a very simple addition to the options panel- the ability to move your camera to a higher plane. This would be a slider just like the slider that moves the camera to the left and right (already in the game) and would allow more of the boss to be seen. This could also come in handy with bosses that throw/shoot projectiles as you would be able to see them more clearly. The current ‘zooming out’ of the camera for large boss events is great but it doesnt sort the issue of the fact youre still seeing a hell of a lot of floor!

Another plus point of this slider would be screenshots. I tried to run a guild screenshot event in game where a large group of the guild got together in themed attire. Trying to take the screenshot was a nightmare as, even with the HUD hidden, the camera kept hitting the floor and zooming all the way in, cutting out the guild members on either side. This slider would enable you to remove the floor and see all members as well as more of the background.

Its not missing. The issue is that it takes Giant Eyes to craft and theyre insanely rare. So rare that at one point a month ago there wasnt enough Giant Eyes being sold on the TP to make even one Immobulus.

Kokiman- you can only craft it as far as im aware. 1 Eldritch Scroll, 30 Mystic Coins, 250 Piles of Crystalline Dust and 250 Giant Eyes.

Deadeye farming is it a bug?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Thereon.3495

Thereon.3495

Discounting the fact that the fight is ludicrously easy, that is besides the point. Whether you have to beat the enemy or not doesnt negate the fact that game-breaking amounts of gold are flooding their way into the game due to people farming this event. They know the amount they are earning is far above what was intended.

As for me ive no plans to farm using this method. I would just like to know if ANET see it as an exploit BUT if they deem it to be a legitimate farm id like to know their reasons why. Either way ive whisked a support ticket in to see if anyone there can shed some light on the issue,

The snowflake exploit could be considered an ‘oversight’ by those that implemented it….those that were banned lost their accounts because they knowingly threatened the game’s economy. Id argue that those farming this mini-game are doing the same and therefore guilty of the same offense.

Well if this is true id expect an emergency patch sometime soon because something like this could kill the economy dead.

Id also expect that everyone who made a profit in this way be stripped of this gold and banned because, as we know from the Snowflake exploit, ANET look down on those that deliberately play to ruin the economy.

[Noes] of Piken Square Recruiting!!

We have had many people ask us…. why are we called Noes? The answer we always give, each and every time, is “We don’t Noes!” Situated on the ever friendly Piken Square server, Noes are looking for fun, open and entertaining individuals to join our ever expanding team of crazy!

Who Are We and What Do We Do?

We are a PvX guild made up of members from many different European countries although English is the language spoken by all. We participate in guild missions twice a week, weekly PvE and patch day events, regular dungeon runs and both high and low level Fractals of the Mist participation. We also run a guild raffle and a Player of the Week competition with many prizes to be won!

We are looking to start running regular WvW/EotM events with tagged commanders leading the group on small and large scale raiding parties. We have a few members that are interested in getting a PvP team together too. In addition to all of the above we have a dedicated website/forum (link at the bottom) where we post both helpful information, fun activities and forum events and own a private Teamspeak 3 server with enough room to swing a cat in!

[FG] Forsaken Gamers - Piken Square

Thereon.3495

So im sitting here middle of January contemplating quitting the game. Ive achieved everything I wanted to achieve and was finding the game pretty boring. But I thought id join [FG] and give a large guild a chance to change my mind. Six months later im still here and I attribute this to the wide range of benefits this guild offers. From WvW (both structured and free), PvE events, dungeon parties, Fractal parties… being in [FG] has prolonged the lifespan of GW2 for me and ive never been happier!

Forsaken Gamers is more than just a guild, its a community and looking ahead even past GW2 I can see myself being part of [FG] for a long time yet. Oh, and my weekly Raffle event is amazing. Best part of GW2 by far :p

Is there a loot bug?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Thereon.3495

Thereon.3495

Both me and my guildies have experienced downs in drop rates over the past few weeks but most of us then go on to get a couple of decent drops later on. A couple of days ago I got 5 T6 in a 1hr farming session and moaned in guild chat but today I got 18 T6, 2 dyes and one reef rider in 45mins and my friends that complained about T6 drops this week have all got at least one exotic from the world bosses.

RNG is sometimes harsh but it is what it is. I personally will never rule out a hidden factor other than DR…. perhaps DR of an entire map or set of mobs to keep certain items from falling in price. But there’s no proof so maybe its just me and my tinfoil hat. Either way moaning about drops on the forums isnt going to change anything. RNG is RNG.

Guild Missions without Dulfy

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Thereon.3495

Thereon.3495

I both agree and disagree with the above- guides like Dulfy’s enable a guild to remove the ‘trial and error’ phase of the guild missions but do not entirely mean that these guild missions are designed with guides in mind.

Take Guild Bounty for example- a guild would remember the location(map) of each target and write it down if the guide wasnt there. My guild dont really pay attention much to routes as we have at least one party per two maps searching before the mission is started and only start when 90% are already found. Some check routes, I personally dont and usually still find the target within 10mins.

Guild Trek is made much easier with the guide but again if the guide wasnt there then we would take screenshots ourselves with the locations or just remember them.

Guild Rush we went into completely blind and have still completed two within the time limit (only unlocked last week).

The guides are a huge help but theyre not necessary to complete the missions.
