I have a friend(online- he’s over in the US) who used to work as a GM for a MMO that I used to play. He had three characters- one was the all powerful God type that could spawn anything anywhere, teleport, buff people for fun in the main town so they did insane amounts of damage to the training dummies etc. The second was one that he used to test certain aspects of the game- it had the tools needed to record and take note of things but other than that it was a normal character with fairly average>good items that he spawned in. The last one was a character he played when he got home and to this day he has never let on (even to me) who he was and what guild he was in. At one point I thought I knew as this stranger started PM’ing me and sticking around but he maintained it wasnt him, just a friendly fellow in game!
Id imagine its pretty much the same in GW2 but with a little more complexity for the ‘God’ character.

Just make them all tradeable, then the problem doesn’t exist any more- buy the ones you want, sell the ones you don’t.
Congratulations! Youve suggested a great way to kill off dungeon parties! We dont need them stupid dungeons taking up our valuable time! We should just be able to buy everything, including WvW tokens! I’ll just sit at the TP from now until the game ceases to be and buy everything I need. No point exploring anymore!
/sarcasm.

I dont understand why people have issues with buying extra bank slots. Its your decision to keep dungeon tokens as opposed to spending them!
I have three mule characters with full 18 slot boxes along with two extra bank slots and three extra inventory slots. I bought all of them with gold so its not as if I was forced to buy by gems with £££. The extra space is awesomely useful.

Thanks guys, youve allayed some of my fears!

I have to admit that there have been times where I have honestly wondered why I killed a specific mob. It wasnt trying to hurt me, it was off of the beaten track and was going about its business when I run in flailing my axe and stun it with my shield before laying the poor beast to rest with one more devastating blow to its face. The creature died and for what? So I could gain some worthless junk and ‘experience in killing’ which I really do not need.
Hell, youre actively encouraged to kill 15 different species every day. Who is giving these missions considering the gods are gone from Tyria? I think that we are being controlled by some unknown force. Maybe Zhaitan’s influence has effected us more than we care to say and there is some unknown plan at work. A plan that involves wiping out defenseless hawks and rabbits among other creatures. Im telling you, even after death he’s influencing life in Tyria and its time people knew the truth!

Anyone in a top 6 WvW server, EU or US, that can give me some clue as to how long it takes to get onto a WvW map?

Sorry if ive missed it but when can we expect the server transfer price to be implemented? Wondering if I have time to try out a server before its brought in.

Im looking for a little bit of feedback on just how hard it is to get into WvW on the higher ranked EU servers. Ive had my eye on Desolation for a while but am a little worried that id end up queuing for hours just to kill a few Invaders!
Just how hard is it to get some WvW action that high up the ladder?

I find it hilarious when people say “I used to get 7 rares per Fractal but now only 3” and they assume 7 is normal for a fractal.
I used to get 3 per fractal and the past couple of weeks ive got 5 or more per run most runs so does that mean theyve buffed my drop rate? Its just percentages playing themselves out.

Ok with the announcement that server transfers are set to become paid im left with the question of whether or not to move before the January patch. I currently call Gandara my home but have always had negative feelings towards Gandarans when it comes to WvW. Don’t get me wrong, it isn’t that Gandara is awful but we do seem to suffer heavily from nightcapping, the majority of our player base sleeping at normal hours. We’re around mid table and have been since launch and ive always had thoughts of wanting to join a server a little higher up the table. But this brings another issue- the better a server is at WvW the less chance there is of getting into WvW.
So im left with two choices- ask all of you for some advice as to what server you could recommend for a decent WvW/PvE experience, asking for wait times and population data OR encourage as many regular playing guilds over to Gandara as possible before the patch! Ive tried the latter in the past…had a couple of guilds move so I did my job I guess!
So has anyone got any advice?

Make sure you complete the daily to get your hands on the 4.5k karma jug for a start and just save them up until you actually need them. You can then use all the karma boosts in the game to double(?) the actual karma you get from the bottles.

I love my warrior but I will admit its very simple to play. So long as you dont run a GS Signet build youre good to go. As for group play youve only really got two options for healing- shouts heal and banner but they do have a lot of skills useful to the entire party, my fav being On My Mark! which gives the entire group a 10% damage boost on a single mob for 10 seconds per 30 untraited. One criticism I do have is that warriors lack a decent number of combo fields.
In my opinion they are a pretty balanced class so long as you trait properly and use some defensive skills. They have great burst damage with many weapons, have a fair few blocks and knockdowns, have a decent HP pool and can take a lot of punishment if using Knight’s armour. Ive never played a mesmer but id agree that if you want ‘interesting’ id choose any class other than warrior! But if you want a stable, strong, powerful class that can hold its own in most situations then go for warrior.

I decided to buy six pieces of TA armour/daggers for an ele I started leveling, before realising that I had no interest in leveling an ele lol. I then started a ranger that couldve used the armour but alas, all the items were soulbound.
I grit my teeth and salvaged the full set. 5 ectos from 6 pieces…. I almost cried lol. But such is life, I havent made the same mistake again!

Instead of a cut scene. Maybe it can actually a small playable area. A area void of objects but full of particle affects. It would look like you are actually flying through a wormhole.
This came into my mind as well. You could have 10/15/20 or so very small ‘corridors’ through The Mists with varying scenery and the game loads during the period that youre running through it. Many games have employed what I like to call ‘buffer zones’ between maps to load and even the most basic games (Fifa 13 comes to mind) allow you to play some aspect of the game DURING loading so its far from impossible.
The trouble with this is….its a lot of coding for very little gain. While id love to see it it’ll never happen =(

The idea of ‘down-leveling’ was meant to mean that higher level players could go back and complete low level zones while still having a challenge. I personally believe that ANET made a mistake by not also down-leveling equipment. This has caused the issues and its something that I think desperately needs looking into because I can two hit a lot of the mobs in lower level areas. We were told before launch that this wouldnt be the case.
As for updating rewards based on the level of the zone…introducing higher level drops at low level areas would only work if the above balancing is attained and even then it could open many more avenues for abuse. Personally id keep the drops as they are now but maybe add a small chance for higher level/rarer loot and give the lower level champions a chance to drop unique skins. THIS would encourage people to go to lower level areas.

I personally love jumping puzzles but many that dont would object to them being mandatory, such as would be the case in FotM. Therefore you would have to make the actual jumps themselves very easy (akin to the kitty golem fractal) and this would take a lot of the challenge away thus rendering the whole idea pointless!
I would however like more fractals with jumping in them but not entire fractals based on this fact.

Ive mentioned a few things on other threads but this one in convenient! So without further ado:
1) Raise the level cap to 100 but introduce a new way of leveling post 80. In my opinion its far too easy to level to 80 in GW2 let alone get another 20 levels. Players could do this within a day or two so id like to introduce a new way of leveling…maybe achievement based. There would be achievements introduced that would award a set amount of exp based on how hard the achievement is to complete. You could even add rewards for completing ‘sets’ of achievements such as a small amount of gems/gem shop items or items similar to what you get from map completion.
So in addition to creating a skill based method of leveling, you would get rewarded for progressing and would give those that enjoy ‘collecting’ more of a reason to play as theyd want to complete all the achievements (youd only need 50/60/70% of the achievements to reach 100).
2) More Legendaries. Lots more Legendaries! The main reason why ive not already got one isnt the material cost, its the fact non of the designs fit with my main character’s looks. My alt could do with the Frostfang and Rodgort but theyd be wasted on a character I hardly use.
3) New zones utilising new methods of exploration. Id love some sort of cave system with traps and puzzles that unlock further areas.
4) More personal story, but I think thats a given.
5) New world bosses with new mechanics to make them challenging.
6) All world bosses and dungeon bosses have their own armour and weapon sets which you can acquire by collecting tokens. Id love to see a corrupted armour set!
7) A ‘scavenger hunt’ style weekly achievement that involves doing certain quests in order to gain rewards such as recipes, exotics and a key that gets you into a special dungeon.
8) New skills, specifically new and interesting elites.
9)New weapon types such as the battleaxe, polearm and chakrams.
10) A use for the personality system! What use is there in making choices if they have no impact upon the world?
11) Ability to customise the look of weapons and further customise the look of armour. Maybe add jewels? Also the ability to see your accessories on your character but with the ability to hide.
12) A use for the crafting system!!! New rare recipes to make armour and weapons with unique skins, quests that utilise crafting maybe?
Anymore….i’ll make another post! Thats enough for now :p

2xPirate = 10% Magic Find, 20% Might Duration = 13s each
2xWater = 25 Healing, 15% Boon Duration = 76s each
2xMonk = 25 Healing, 15% Boon Duration = 120 AC tokens eachRun the AC dungeon for the tokens you need to buy Monk runes and you’ll earn enough gold needed to buy the other four
hmmm sounds sonic boom

For those are are struggling to find parties for dungeons, use GW2LFG.com to join up with players from other servers. All you have to do is be on the same map to get in and play with others. Being on a baron server is no longer an issue.

If the devs had wanted all NPCs to ‘be the same’ then they wouldnt have bothered giving them different looks, styles and dialogue. Some of the banter between sellers in LA is hilarious and really brings you into the game…until you realise that theyre just there to act as a convenient hub for certain items.
How hard is it to run to a specific NPC to buy your goods in LA? Free waypoints, the fact that its a small city/town….it takes you no longer than a few minutes. Having every NPC sell the same thing is convenience for convenience sake.

As I say it could just be that im of the older generation that enjoys parts of the game that others would call grinding. But there are many here that think adding elements of other games would be a bad thing and I dont think that is true so long as these elements are given a GW2 spin.
Going forward I hope that any increase in level cap would be met by a different way to reach those levels, be it achievement based or via some other method. I recognise the fact that many do not want to ‘grind’ out levels (despite the fact I enjoy that) but the current route of leveling, in my opinion, is far too easy so an achievement based system of leveling could suit both parties.
Retired and living in a shack. Relaxing!
Well I see lots of people saying that im ‘moaning’ but I really didnt want to give that impression as ive had a great time so far. This thread was more to highlight a potential problem with GW2, that even those that have loved the game so far arent sure whether they will play it going forward.
I did used to be be addicted to MMOs, that much is sure. I remember logging on as soon as I got up, eating pizza/ready made sandwiches all the time so I didnt have to break for long periods. Id then play until 6/7/8am before getting about 4 hours of sleep. The main reason for this? Having to grab parties where I could so I was able to level up and not fall behind the pack. So dont get me wrong, while I do miss leveling I do understand a need for a limit. Its just that, in my opinion, GW2 sets this limit too low. I guess this wouldnt be such an issue had they have implemented the down-leveling system properly. This was a bit of a disappointment if im honest.

I leveled my main character without rushing and reached 80 within 8 days or so and I cant recall dying more than a handful of times. I also did this completely solo while exploring many more maps than I ‘needed’ to explore just for the fun of it. I didnt level up crafting until I was 80 so the full amount of xp was gained in the ‘actual world’. Last week I leveled my alt….took 5 days to reach 80 because I didnt explore, just moved from map to map. I died 3 times and again solo’d most of the content.
Personally id call this both fast and easy. It could even be improved by slowing down the leveling to such a pace that completing most maps would be needed to level up. As it stands you complete just a handful and then go back and do the rest post-80 which is even easier as the down-leveling is ever so slightly broken!
But as I say this is just one issue I have with the game…
Retired and living in a shack. Relaxing!
My point (which you may not be getting) is that leveling is often a grind in many MMOs(kill 10 rats), but doesnt have to be a grind so long as the ‘quests’ involved are challenging, fun and worth doing, leading to the goal of max level.
As for GW2 and its ‘all round end-game’ I understand what it is, believe me. When I bought the game I knew it was different, the entire game being end-game content. But with what I am feeling and what I personally have seen and heard in game im starting to question whether this can actually work given that people are running out of things to do. Youre right, GW2 is more like a single player RPG than a MMO and its in this fact that im a little worried. I could of course be wrong, I dont know the figures. I could of course be in the minority and GW2 could be thriving. I’ll be very pleased if this is the case.
As for the leveling process I enjoy it isnt about gaining power/advantage over other players, its the sense of progression I enjoy. Gaining skill points isnt progressing when youve no reason to spend them. Sure if I was aiming for a Legendary this post wouldnt have gone up for another month but it still wouldve gone up eventually.
One thing I should make clear at this point- leveling is one aspect where I think the game lacks depth but it isnt the overall point of this thread, just one of many. If I were to pick the main culprit for my waning interest its the lack of immersion brought on by the lack of depth in general.

Why is it assumed that leveling is grinding? If they havent already, the creative brains of the gaming world should easily be able to figure out a way to create leveling that is enjoyable, varied and different while not having to create an infinitely large game world. I dont know if any have come close to this so far but its surely not an impossible task?
Achievement based leveling springs to my mind and im an unemployed bum!
As for getting to max level to become the most powerful….well with the segregation of PvP and PvE why is that an issue? With just PvE I dont see why those that put in more effort cannot gain an advantage providing that advantage is limited in some way as to limit the rewards of a grinder.

Dont get me wrong, 6 months is a good amount of time for a game to last me so im not complaining, merely comparing it to past MMOs that I have played. All have kept me going a long way past the six months line. What I will admit is yes, the majority of other MMOs I have played…in fact all but one… I never did reach the highest level bracket due to the steep curve at higher levels. I do miss leveling and I personally think that the lack of any sort of curve has caused me to feel as though I have ‘finished the game’.
The point im trying to make with the above post is that ive enjoyed GW2 a hell of a lot and yet im still wondering whether I want to buy an expansion. This is a personal opinion, but to me this seems to suggest that something isnt right with the way GW2 has been designed. However it could also mean that players like me arent suited to GW2, and for every one of me there are 10 that think differently. I hope thats the case because id hate to see GW2 fail.
As for taking a break, I do worry that I will find another game(s) that I will spend my time on and not want to come back to GW2. As it stands im unemployed so have spent a lot of time playing GW2. When I do get a job (urgh, the good old UK eh?!) i’ll have a lot less time and GW2 might play second fiddle to another game. Im not saying this as though GW2 has to keep me amused at all times, im merely wondering how many are out there like me who are of the same mind. As I say id hate for GW2 to run into troubles regardless of whether im playing or not as its a great game with a lot of potential.

One thing that bothers me about the NPC sellers in GW2….why do they all sell the same items? There are so many dotted about all selling the same things that it ruins the immersion completely. Also if more than one sells an item, there would be competition between traders in Lions Arch so why is it that all identical items cost the same no matter what seller you go to?
Solution: Remove some of the NPCs and those that are kept should sell different things. There can be some that sell some of the same items but the prices of these should fluctuate randomly by +-10% on a daily basis. This would create a lot more realism end actually give people a reason to go to different parts of maps looking for the best bargain.
Secondly renown karma vendors need some love. Why is it that they stock these so called ‘rare and wonderful’ items, each with their own description, when the skins are all the same (so many Asuran weapons!) and theyre never any better than the drops youre receiving while playing on that map?
Solution: Special items should have special skins, period. They should also have 5-10% better stats than the items you would normally receive in that area. This would encourage both those leveling up to use some karma rather than saving it, and would also give those already at 80 an opportunity to buy some awesome ‘named skins’ for their 80+ equipment.

So I figure im about a week away from accomplishing everything that I want to accomplish in GW2. I’m not going to list everything that I have done because its not everything that exists in the game. Ive had a great time so this isnt another post moaning about the lack of things to do, merely pointing out the fact that I believe GW2 may have an issue.
Notice that word- may. This is from my point of view and therefore my opinion and isnt based on any data other than my own. Now ive enjoyed myself immensely but if I compare my time here to my time in past MMOs that ive played I was never without something to do. I never once reached a point where I could say ‘ive done all that I want to do’ due to the fact that most other MMOs have content that is designed to keep players playing for a sizable amount of time. BEFORE this content runs out, new content is added and this new content lasts a long time.
With GW2 it has been designed as a casual MMO. I understood this when I bought the game and I understand it now. The issue I see with GW2 is the fact that catering to the casual player seems to be getting in the way of certain aspects of the game. For example I dont personally understand why there are so few items in the cash shop 5 months after release when the whole idea of a cash shop is to get people to buy gems.
Dont get me wrong, im not saying ANET need to release a content patch every week. Im merely saying that maybe they shouldve thought more about certain aspects of the game before release. Crafting for instance- not only can you get master crafter in a day but you can do so without even leaving Lions Arch providing you have the gold. Not only that, its close to useless as it stands. In my opinion it should be massively hard to get master crafter, involving gathering recipe’s from all corners of Tyria including dungeons and whatnot. Why make it so easy?
The same goes for leveling. 1-80 is painfully easy and this has been my biggest disappointment in GW2. I nearly quit the game a week after launch due to this fact but I found things to do and carried on (im glad I did). I see many people with 2/3/4/5+ characters all at 80 and I just cry inside….a game should not be this easy! This brings me onto an important point- every other MMO that ive played ive become very much immersed in. With GW2 it has and will always feel like a game with story segments. I dont feel anything special for the game because the immersion is so low.
Last thing on my mind is future patches designed to make the game world more populated. I personally think that this should have been thought of before launch or at the very least a month or two post launch, certainly not five. I like the fact that ANET are listening to what their players want but there are some basic things that make me question why they needed pointing out in the first place. Boss mechanics for instance- the fact that most bosses/vets/champs in the game have only a handful of moves and a high HP pool. Surely the devs knew that this was a mistake? To me it seems as though they were rushed for time pre-launch and now that they have a little time free theyre going back and fixing aspects that need it. Had they have done this before or close to launch they wouldve had many people praising those bosses. Now it seems that players might go back to an area theyve been to many times before, fight the boss once, say ‘that was interesting’ and never come back again.
So i’ll say it again so all can be clear- ive enjoyed my time here immensely and it was well worth every penny. But for the first time ever today I questioned whether id buy an expansion should they release it this year and this made me sad. Up until now it was a case of “Shut up and take my money!” but im a little worried that future content will be…well, watered down….. like the current game. Im afraid that i’ll whizz through the content in no time at all….

My warrior is biased in as much as she’s Sylvari. Mixing and matching is oddly very easy due to one piece of armour being a constant- the cultural T2 shoulders. It sounds weird but with those shoulders I can use pretty much any top with any gloves and helm (although I rarely wear my helm). Leggings are a little more of a problem and I usually base my decision on what top I am wearing. Boots then have to match the leggings and gloves which is a little harder again.
At the moment ive got three sets:
H/S/C/H/L/F
1) T2/T2/T2/Draco/TA/T2
2) TA/T2/Karma/TA/Outriders/Mad Kings
3) SE/T2/Draco/Draco/TA/Draco (need skins for H and F)

I have to agree with the " there is no hope for this game".
There’s little incentive to do anything, the events, DE’s, bosses and champs I had great fun doing with a group of people are no more.
Most places are empty, barren and devoid of players.
So many players are stupid enough not to get the full story when commenting on the state of the game, and its starting to annoy. FYI the devs are currently working on ways to make the open world more populated by improving boss mechanics and creating actual reward for killing them and doing DEs. Expect that in either the Jan or Feb patch.

I ran into Metrica Province today and killed the first thing I could see which was a very low level grub. It immediately dropped a level 78 rare. I then ran to the Goemm’s Lab jumping puzzle and middle of the way around one of the normal level 15 elementals dropped exactly the same level 78 rare.
While this is awesome for me, its clearly an issue with the drop rate as ive got hardly any MF on and its high level rare items dropping from low level trash mobs. Id hate for this to be abused in any way so am reporting.

Ok so there’s those that are against Legendaries and those that are for. Im all for Legendaries, so long as their owners are not deemed to be better than players without Legendaries.
We can all agree that the devs missed a chance to make Legendaries actually legendary. Skill should have been taken into account towards the creation of the weapons but for one reason or another they made them available to even the ‘least skilled’. The fact of the matter is that they are merely weapons with very nice skins that auto-adjust their power based on the current power cap. Having them available via gold is the same as actually crafting them in my opinion, its just different routes of grinding to acquire one.
What I do object to is that they are considered the ‘best’ weapons in the game, wielded by the best players in game. This is wrong and I feel there needs to be a new tier inserted alongside Legendary (ive been banding about the Ancestral named tier for a while!) that takes into account player skill and are genuinely wielded by players that have proven themselves to be one of the best in game. They could even make you ‘prove your worth’ from time to time otherwise you lose the special skin associated with it.
Sure, be proud of the time and effort spent in getting your Legendary but having an Ancestral weapon is something that proves just how good you are.

All guild banners can be used by everyone, regardless of guild and come with that note that says ‘courtesy of our guild’ or something along those lines. Id personally like to see what guild is giving me these banners without relying on knowing every single guild logo on the current server.
For those dropping the banner it would be an advertisement to the everyone using it that their guild is one willing to spend influence points to drop banners for everyone to use. It is also an advertisement that they have enough influence (and usually therefore active members) to spend on banners and such, thus creating more potential guild members.
This isnt a huge plus point as it stands because banners are quite cheap but in the future im fully expecting more guild upgrades to arrive and so banners of all kinds might start costing a lot more influence. Advertisement could become a great way to add to the justification of dropping a banner that costs a lot of influence.

GW2 has become a little bit of a grind for me but I use the term in a positive way because im choosing to do it. Call it personal progress rather than game progress, wanting things instead of needing them. I want ascended infused rings, I dont need them because there’s very little to the Fractals other than personal bragging rights.
I also want to complete all the jumping puzzles and record them for my Youtube channel. Im two away from the full set having taken a long break from them because I didnt want to do them.
You notice im highlighting a certain word here? GW2 isnt about needing, its about wanting. The quicker people get this into their heads the better.

Cheap mechanics do exist in games and in some respects Agony is just that in GW2. But for general PvE I see no problem in a boss or even a general mob having powerful moves as it makes the game more challenging. The Karkas for example have that five shot go’ey stuff they attack you with to start off with which hits very hard. Learn how to dodge/block that and then kill the Karka.
As for Agony itself it is a little cheap and I personally think there should be ways to negate the damage outside of ascended equipment. Maybe new skills that have AR built in? I dont know, thats another topic.

I bought a full set of Knights armour for my warrior a couple of months ago and then transmuted them with varying skins to create a perfect set for me. One of these skins was the Mad King’s slippers I got for completing the Clocktower after five hours of trying so they meant a lot to me. I then put Divinity runes in due to everyone going on and on about how good they are. Well last month I decided I on a better rune set for my build(boon duration)…time to replace. I paid 2g each for them so wondered if they had gone down or up. They were up to 7g each (8g now).
Needless to say I bought myself another Knight set in the hope that one day I would be able to extract the Divinity runes and merge the two sets together instead to walking around with three armour sets in my inventory all the time!
(That third set is my berserker set, which has eagle runes in. Id also like to replace these with the boon duration runes so that removal tool would get a hell of a lot of use from me!)

The monthly events, WvW zerging and stalking, dynamic events now that we’re expecting a patch, fractals and other dungeons should I wish to join in, guild events and future guild raid events (we all know its coming, why not embrace it!) etc etc. The two previous guilds I have been in both dwindled in number to such a point that I am the only regular player. I had high hopes from my last guild but there were only three of us left before Christmas and no one but me has logged in since.
Also size is a key issue for me (dont laugh!)- im looking for a guild that isnt so big that my voice gets drowned and I cannot join in, but isnt so small that numbers become an issue. They must also be English speaking for the most part, but a mix of nationalities is always a plus point.
Things to know? Well im not exactly a big talker but im not rude, i’ll always say hi and bye! Im not against using TS or another program but prefer to chat in game outside of events and dungeons. I have a youtube channel that is far from successful but I do record a lot of my GW2 exploits and all events. Im from S.London…..umm….any more questions feel free to ask as ive drawn a blank!
So thats me! If youre interested throw me some info on your guild, the events that you do and the numbers you have and i’ll get back to you all in due course!

Despite what the above poster has said, it may be the best for you or may not. It all depends on your build and how you use each of the stats. I personally make use of all except the MF, which is a nice bonus to have.

Question: How would you choose to implement a new tier of armour and weapons that are designed to be rare enough to cause excitement for a long period of time, while being available to all regardless of play time?
tl;dr My answer: Create skill based scavenger hunts to collect key fragment designs which enable you to craft a key to either a) get into a mini-dungeon and defeat a boss for a chance at the super rare set b) craft a key to open a special chest at dungeon/world boss locations which has a chance to contain the special set.
Long version:
So with all the talk on Legendaries no longer being special due to the ease of gain, ive been trying to think of ways to implement a new tier into GW2 that would be special and in my opinion that special should come not only from the looks, but from its rarity. The buzz around the Final Rest staff shows that many agree with me.
So, thinking of ways to implement a system where a set could stay rare is an issue. My suggestion is to introduce a NPC that gives a daily clue to find another NPC. This clue would be different for each player that talks to the NPC , a different clue per map in the game. This second NPC could give a clue as to what is needed to be done on the current map, maybe even giving a shopping list of items he/she needs. Killing a specific mob/boss, completing a puzzle (jumping plus you could introduce mini puzzles such as placing rocks on certain pressure pads, pulling levers based on a cave drawing etc), animal tracking and whatever else you can think of. Once 75% of the items are gathered you exchange for a key fragment design (maybe) and you can do this once per day/week/whatever. Once a certain number of designs are found you can craft (400 crafting needed?) the key which is then used to get into a mini-dungeon with 4 others to fight a mob boss that then has a chance to drop a random part of that rare set (akin to ascended rings). You could even give the current world bosses or dungeon bosses their own sets (id love a corrupted set of armour from the Claw of Jormag!).
All of this would:
1) Encourage more people to travel out into the world, including home cities.
2) Encourage people to chat more because some people are too lazy to follow clues themselves and would rather ask
3) Wouldnt fall foul of lore as you could give it a story
4) Wouldnt cause an issue with those that can only log in infrequently as they would still be able to get the items
5) Would mean there was a skill based way to acquire items (for once!)
6) Would encourage the killing of champions, veterans and world bosses
7) Would create a new mini-dungeon per ‘super-rare’ set, new puzzles for groups and individuals to do and you could use it to encourage open world cooperation.
In time people would gain these sets so the key would be not only to make things as challenging as possible over a fairly long time period(weeks maybe?), but also to release new sets at a time where the previous set is still considered rare.

MF only affects loot from killing a mob. It does not affect chests, salvages, the mystic forge, or anything else in game.
Me knows, was just ‘increasing my chances a little’ with something dropping from the Eye.

Well the big boss man has said that dungeons, including story mode, will be revamped to make them more rewarding to repeat so hopefully, if worst comes to worst, we can just wait until then and get many more takers. Good luck in your quest though!

So roughly translated, open world events will have collectable tokens for you to trade for various items (just theorising!). If this is the case then I just hope that that youre limited to the amount of tokens you can earn in a day so to avoid issues with people grinding specific areas.

No one runs CoF? Are you joking? Its the quickest dungeon to run (paths 1+2) and there’s always a party going. Use GW2LFG and youll get a party in no time. Oh, and for the record I have never…yes NEVER….spent more than ive made from any dungeon because youre still earning tokens providing you complete.
