In my opinion, invulnerable mobs are a bad design

I can’t even remember how many times I complained about the concept of mob invulnerability. It was the first thing that came to my attention as absolutely unacceptable behavior which I haven’t seen in any other game until the release of GW2. And not only that… As I already mentioned in a thread just a couple of minutes ago, the fact that people can’t shoot stuff if there is a difference in terrain elevation between the player and the thing he/she is shooting at is also unacceptable. A simple example… If I decide to step on a rock which is just 5 inches above the level of terrain on which a mob is the mob itself becomes immediately invulnerable to my shots.

Does not happen to me, and I’ve tried even the rocky, uneven terrain in Southsun Cove east. I’ve stood on rocks, and thrown axes down at Risen during trips in Orr. There has never been “obstructed” when a terrain feature clearly was in the line of fire or “invulnerable” ever.

I tested this. A lot. I gave up an entire hour running around and testing things people said give them this bug. The only one close was the Giant Arctic Jelylfish, which don’t go invulnerable but just leash back to start.

At this point, I’m calling BS unless you post a video.

Centaur Lancers/Tramplers: Look for the shining aura which starts up and dodge about 2 seconds before it’s about to land to avoid being launched. Be sure to dodge in the direction they were moving FROM to be absolutely sure it misses.

Raptors and Moas: Look for the shining aura, and dodge to the left or right. Dodging backwards will still get you nailed.

Risen Putrefier*: When you see the anchor/pickaxe thrown at you, dodge immediately left or right to avoid being pulled.

Edit: Wrong Risen, they kind of blended together. Adding another one.

Risen Noble: When they vanish to shadow-step, immediately dodge away. You will not get stuck for long in the well it creates.

This is a pretty dull exposition, honestly. But, what do I know? I’m just a gamer, and writing is hard.

Writing is dead simple. You just sit down in front of a typewriter and let your mind go. Or you get pencil and paper and lock yourself in a quiet room for an hour, writing down your thoughts.

No, writing is simple. Writing things which can be called “good” is hard. Take it from someone who writes.

As I said earlier, this has the feeling of them testing to see if they can do something like this before plunging into more complex affairs

We have to be, if we want to avoid getting rolled over by larger groups.

Just speaking for myself, it’s fun to hop onto a borderland and clean up a camp solo once in a while . . . mostly because somewhere else, a tower is being assaulted so most everyone’s busy there

I don’t consider Bella Swan a legitimate literary character.

I consider her one because I have seen worse. I have held it in my hands and stared uncomprehendingly at the pages, wondering if I fell into a Lovecraftian nightmare.

Anyway, final comparison here. Tolkien’s elves still are worse as a race than the Sylvari . . . unless you can actually read the Silmarillion.

Natural Vigor is also very useful . . . also been able to use “Soften the Fall” on defensive moments at gates in WvW – drop on them to immobilize so someone can drop area effects on the now-unmoving people.

Because the Sylvari as a whole are the worst kind of Mary Sues, ever.

Challenge accepted, and we start with two words: Bella Swan. I dare you to find someone worse outside of fanfiction.

Extra credit: Sarah Kerrigan is almost the next contender, but Kathryn Janeway in certain episodes beats both hands down several times over.

Why would a Sylvari blacksmith be able to even be compared to the best blacksmiths of the other races? Because the writers gave the Sylvari “The Dream” where they gain Matrix-like knowledge of everything.

Why would any single blacksmith be good at anything? Because of something the writers gave them. Come on, you can do better. Especially when Occam is the one who made that sweet armor for the Green Knight, er Green Huntsman.

I’m just sayin’ if someone came into my neighborhood, ransacked my house AND my neighbor’s house AND then went down to the local bar and bragged about it…

You would do what exactly? Me, I would call the cops because I’m slow, overweight, and uncoordinated while this person has shown that they have at least some experience with violence. Why continue a fight that I’ve already lost and will continue to lose?…

Unless of course you’re playing a game. Then you continue to fight because you enjoy the experience, whether it makes a difference in the final score or not. After all, the final score is the least beneficial part of this game.

Or set up some bait with your friends at doorway or a long narrow hallway!

Contrary to the attitude of some of your fellow servermates, the final score means absolutely nothing for the individual fights. What we did last week many times while outnumbered and facing inevitable zergs with only one place they wanted to go, was to set up super sieged choke points in a keep or SMC and keep camping it till we wiped or TC/DB gave up.

There was one night holding SMC with it’s gates open, I’m sure I had gotten well over 100 kills and multiple full inventories before I died. That was from falling off a cliff during a supply run…

That week our ending score was ~99,374 to TC’s ~343,230 but it ended up being one of the most fun WvW weeks, for me at least.

Yes, well, the choke point argument went out the window when trebs cracked open two wall sections on the SBI Overlook (Eternal Battlegrounds), and when we took a break to snatch up our borderlands . . . we came back and ran into the same zerg all over again.

That’s when I called it quits for the night.

Like I said. I’m a ranger, and a player who’s not that good at player-vs-zerg. “What am I supposed to use, harsh language?”

Suspension of Disbelief or Secondary Belief?

While I appreciate your effort, that is not quite what I’m after. I’m after the kind of information that answer how and why, instead of what. How does one learn to use magic in Tyria? Why do the Skritt like shiny things? How does a lingering spirit turn into a ghost? What is the level of consciousness of dragon minions?

It is that kind of information I’d wish to find in the game.

Interesting . . . but at least two of those won’t be answered, one already is answered.

Specifically, “consciousness of dragon minions”. I don’t want to completely spoil it but you learn relatively late that Risen who are given more complex minds (rather than shock troop Risen) are definitely aware of what their bodies are being made to do and can do nothing to stop it.

On the other hand, it’s relatively clear the Icebrood are completely conscious and most of them are willing participants. Branded I’m not too sure about, mostly due to there not being a lot of information on them other than they exist.

Destroyers . . .

Even with the previous game to draw from, I’m not entirely sure how much destroyers operate on instinct versus reasoning. They seem primarily to operate on base drives to spread and destroy anything not of their own kind. They do not communicate. They do not (apparently) corrupt. They simply enter an area and begin, well, destroying.

Suspension of Disbelief or Secondary Belief?

in Lore

Tobias Trueflight.8350

And I’m not saying there’s much inconsistency to be found, I’d just like to find out the logics of Tyria.

Here’s the penny ante up for what you’ll need to understand.

- The charr seem to employ black powder, or some evolution of that. The powder was more widely used by Deldrimor dwarves but it’s clear the secret got out. Their mechanisms seem steam-driven, and tend towards heavily armored forms. As far as magic goes, there is a slight stigma on it due to the Flame Legion of the past but it seems accepted alongside steel, iron, and guns.

- The humans rely on simpler mechanisms, which is why the epitome of their siege weapons is the trebuchet. Very simple, very easy to set up, dead simple to use. On the magical side of things, while they may not always be the most powerful in the room, humans still have a deep connection to the Six which can be called upon in the right circumstances.

- The asura have researched through many . . . many . . . many wrong turns, a way of utilizing magical energy in a way we would use electricity today. However, sources seem a little tough for me to pin down. The Thaumanova reactor explosion was due to trying to use “chaos magic”, which resists efforts to be cleaned up and is in general a considerable hazard in that area.

- Norn revere the Spirits of the Wild, who are beings dwelling in the Mists, and while they do show respect, they do not (often) make major requests. So it seems the norn and human differ in that humans will beg favors from their gods while the norn will instead try to prove themselves worthy of the aid. Note that norn do not employ advanced technology, but do have very good crafting skills. The Great Lodge is an amazing place, and homesteads seem to be a type of structure to go up quickly and still be secure and warm.

- Sylvari are . . . odd. The seem to use natural plants to mimic technology but don’t employ technology themselves. They also seem to emulate emotions rather than actually feel them. Well, except the Nightmare Court, but they seem to revel in more negative aspects of emotional responses.

- It’s worth noting the asura are, by and large, ignorant of a great many details of their technology. There is a conversation near the gate plaza in Lion’s Arch where a norn asks: “If I track my wounded prey through the gate, will it cauterize the wound?” And the asura replies “I never thought of that question”. Other examples may abound but . . . they invent and innovate but do not question entirely “what is it I am creating?”.

This is not “GUILD WARS” 2.

This is a fantasy MMO that just happens to take place in Tyria.

You realize Prophecies was a cliche storm of epic proportions, and very much a “standard fantasy realm” until it got some legs to develop, right? Seriously, if it weren’t for the lack of orcs and elves it would have blended right in.

Lets just end this conversation and make sure the dragons don’t get what they want. Agreed?

Yeah but it wouldn’t be as a decisive victory as operation Bombing The Grove would be. It would pretty much annihilate the Sylvari in one fell swoop. Trying to do the same to Asura (with all their labs and stuff scattered everywhere) and Norns (with all homesteads and lodges everywhere) wouldn’t be as effective.

You’d have to spend years in the freezing Shiverpeaks to try and stamp out every last ounce of Norn resistance. And survivors could live on and breed to come back and haunt you later on with their descendants.

. . . I don’t think the charr would care

I commented at least once the charr society needs to have an enemy to focus that military on or it’ll self-destruct. Resistance fighters would be perfect to keep the warbands busy from not turning on each other.

I’ve only been a Ranger for about a week now (just hit level 70) but it seems to me that there is one glaring problem with Ranger pets in dungeons: they die when a mob as much as farts in their direction!

They are too squishy for how dumb they are. By which I mean they need a lot more tankiness because the only thing they know how to do is essentially facetank all the damage. Even if they aren’t being targeted directly they are too stupid to move out of AoE or melee cleave.

Pets should get like 66% damage reduction whenever they’re inside a dungeon. Or something.

I don’t have that issue as much? I mostly hold them back and send them in after the first person engages, and keep an eye on the bar. Bears and drakes seem to last longer, but the poor wolf has a tendency to get freaking pasted against bosses :P

I sold the coin.
if the coin was worth 1.5g, I might of bet more (1/3 chance of winning * 3 times your bet = 100% return, meaning on average you break even). but since you only win 2 times your bet, on average you will lose 33% of your money (66.6% return). even casino blackjack can be up to 97% return if you know when to hit.

Which is irrelevant to this discussion as they are not the Sylvari civilization/race we have in the game…? They don’t seem to collaborate as one big civilization, but rather is every “tree” for itself.

Or maybe we’re counting all the “lost” Human civilizations to be included with the in-game Human race?

I would count Elonians (even enslaved to the will of Palawa Joko’s despotic rule) or Canthans (who are doing Kormir knows what) as human in the case of “they’ll probably outlive what happens to Tyrian continentals”.

Sort of how if Australia succumbed to the plethora of Things That Will Kill You, it wouldn’t mean humanity was doomed.

EDIT: To put a torch to something doesn’t necessary mean burning it. To torch a city could just mean razing it to the ground, regardless of preferred choice of mass destruction.

REALLY hard to torch something (in the colloquial sense) when there’s that much water around. And plants which probably can function as jets of water.

Suspension of Disbelief or Secondary Belief?

in Lore

Posted by: Tobias Trueflight.8350

Tobias Trueflight.8350

Suspension of disbelief, in short, refers to the act of forfeiting logical doubt so as to enjoy a story with impossible elements, such as magic or superpowers. This is only possible up to a certain point (of course, the exact point varies by person), so if the story includes an element too absurd, the whole suspension of disbelief may be lost.

No not quite but it’s close enough. “Suspension of disbelief” is a broader term which can be summed up:

“I know this isn’t and cannot be real but I am believing it holds weight for the sake of entertainment.”

It’s not limited to fantasy or science-fiction, it’s merely the highest probable source of the need for that. “Die Hard” requires suspension of disbelief even though it is, for the time, fairly realistic in how events should actually happen. The coincidences and competency of the main character are, however, debate-ably over-emphasized so as to get through the story.

We know that in the world of “CSI” lab tests can be finished in a vastly compressed timeline, when in reality they take weeks if not longer. We let that go because it’s fiction and we are willing to see where it goes.

Secondary Belief, instead, is the reader (or player, as the case may be) choosing to believe the story, because the world where it takes place has internal consistency of reality. What this means is that while in the real world, magic is logically not possible, it does not have to be so in a fantasy world, if the world is brought forwards so that it presents logical reasoning and definition for magic. This can be mystical or scientific, the important thing is that it’s consistent and doesn’t break the inner reality of the world.

Strangely, this term does not come up on Wikipedia, which leaves me having to go abroad to find good data on it. Though from what it seems, it jives with what a writing professor of mine called “Internal Consistency”.

Or as Chuck Sonnenberg said (paraphrased): “Look I don’t care if it’s BS, just be consistent with your BS”

Now, in what way does Anet want to present us their world? I’ve seen a lot of internal laws and logics in Tyria (for example, the whole business with the bloodstone), but I’d like to see more, get more details on say, how Asuran magitechnology works, how is magic channeled, and so forth. Details like these go a long way in establishing credibility for a fantasy world.

Why would you need to know how the magitek asura make works? Or how magic functions? So far magic seems to be unpredictable and more chaotic a force, so it’s hard to figure out exactly how it works 100% of the time. Similarly, asuran technology has not had the best record of behaving as theory suggests. See: Thaumanova Reactor fallout and all attempts to clean up the energies there.

What we do need to know in regards to the story has maintained consistency:

- The elder dragons seem to feast off magical energies. This is best evidenced by the defeat of the Spirits of the Wild by Jormag.
- As such, it is also shown Zhaitan seems to be consuming magical items through the Mouths of Zhaitan. It was theorized before (by a player) this was due to it expending powers on creating more Risen, so there had to be an inflow of power as much as an outflow.
- By disrupting the known energies of an elder dragon it is possible to harm it. Proven conclusively with the specialized beam weapon employed on Zhaitan, which was perhaps the blow which made it possible to defeat it entirely.

I’m more worried about what the White Mantle was planning on doing with it.

As such, none of us remotely know how many Sylvari are runnin around out there. As such, the Sylvari aren’t strategically weak. Indeed, it’s very possible they’re like Pod People, and will run amok on the whole of Tyria.

Unless Asura discover time-travel, then all bets are off.

At least one asura did. Thankfully they were a bit of a moron and easily dispatched by their past selves.

In my opinion, invulnerable mobs are a bad design

Experimental Record: “Invulnerable mobs”

Parameters: I used a ranger with a Longbow/Speargun traited for extra distance. This meant I got an effective 1500 range on Longbows and 750 on Spearguns. I used solely melee pets, which would “tie down” the mob if you could path to it.

— Experimental Situation #1 —

Alleged Trigger: Immense vertical distance outside of 600 range.

Setup: World vs World, using perches on cliffsides to attack targets.

Result: If a target did not have a ranged attack which could hit me, it would regenerate health almost as fast as I was dealing it. It was possible to kill them, however it was significantly harder due to the regeneration. Melee pets and summoned “Hounds of Balthazar” would not trigger to fall down and attack, so these efforts were ranged only.

Conclusion: Given this is a known anti-exploitative measure, I do not think this is a bug and is intended to prevent players from farming PvE mobs without risk of harm.

— Experimental Situation #2 —

Alleged Trigger: Uneven ground causing “invulnerable” to pop up.

Setup: World vs World borderlands; specifically I would attack the fishing camps from a higher elevation where the guards could still path to me.

Result: If the guards could not path to me (i.e. somehow getting on top of a hut or having someone pull them close to the “safe ledge” near the Legendary Defenders) they would path back to their home and regenerate health at an increased rate. If they could path to me, they would immediately take even a roundabout route to come bash my face in. On foot near a few uneven patches I would sometimes see “Obstructed” if the target was low enough to the ground.

Extra Note: One Veteran Guard is enough to drop a ranger if they’re too busy testing this matter, should they be able to get up close.

Conclusion: This is working as intended to prevent people from seizing camps or otherwise messing with NPCs with no risk of being harmed.

— Experimental Situation #3 —

Alleged Trigger: Harpies in Uncategorized Fractal

Note: Experiment Pending a Fractals trip where it turns up.

— Experimental Situation #4 —

Alleged Trigger: Veteran Giant Arctic Jellyfish in Frostgorge sound

Setup: Swept the waters around Honor of the Waves between Icebrood Fish schools causing . . . issues. And one death.

Result: Giant Jellyfish would leash back to their home location on reaching me unless the pet was holding agro, and regenerate health at a vastly increased rate. They would still take hits but would regenerate health faster than a speargun could damage them. If engaged within “normal” speargun range, this happened only at the most extreme ranges. At no time did it go “Invulnerable”

Conclusion: Giant Jellyfish have a considerably shorter leash than many creatures around Frostgorge Sound for some reason, but it appears universal. It can only be an intended design to prevent them from being pulled far away from their spawn location.

Really? Never played the game myself, but I was thinking more along the line of all those times I used to play Monster Hunter. Loved the fact that if I wanted to go make hide armor, I literally had to go out and carve that hide out of dinosaurs to make it!

. . . yes, but two words:
“Heavenly Scale”

I do not exactly think that system would work here

There’s a underwater area in Frostgorge Sound that surrounds Honor of the Waves Ship that has a lot of jellyfish vets. When a daily has a vet achievement, i’ve often try to kill them and 99% of them time, when their hp is down to 1/3, they suddenly go invulnerable, start swimming away from me for a bit, fully heal then come back at me again. Meanwhile, I’m still locked in combat and cannot heal, while he gains full health. I can’t be bothered with them any more, but this is typical of u/water combat.

It happens on land as well but not as frequently. However, I must say these jellyfish are probably the worst i’ve encountered.

I think it’s a range issue with the jelleyfish, I’ve run into it too. Being in the water, especially a large area like that, you don’t realize it but you’re kiting them all around. Once you kite them out of their defined range, they go back to their area and regen all hp.

Yes, they have a very short “leash”, about 100-200 feet. I have just finished experimenting on all but one setup for this bug and a report will follow.

Stop with Time Sinks / Dailies

Why’s it taking this long?

No really. Here’s how you make Ascended items far less painful to attain. You make a vendor in the wuvwuv starting locations who sells each Ascended piece for 500 Badges of Honor.

BAM. Done. I have fixed the game.

No, you have totally ruined it for people who don’t do WvW. Everyone can do simple PvE content; not everyone can do WvW.

There sure are a lot of people here who apparently care only about the destination, and despise the journey. Why are you playing GW2 if you don’t enjoy doing the things that the dailies ask for?

Worth noting you also need 500 Badges for the “Gift of Battle” used to make Legendaries. So, for each piece of Ascended it could have been a Legendary.

Ever read “Cetaganda” by Lois McMasters Bujold? If Cantha comes out of isolation, I kind of expect that as a result. Either that or if you’re an older science fiction fan, “Solarians” from Issac Asimov.

The thing is, historically isolation weakens a nation, just look at china. Once one of the most technologically and scientifically advanced empires on earth, they fell behind europe when they went into isolation. In europe the industrial revolution kicked off, a few decades later, china was devided into european colonies.
Now let’s look at Tyria and the industrial revolution being started by the Charr and to a lesser degree by the Asura. The door could swing both ways right now, depending on who makes his move first.

Yes, well, I’m not talking about historically, I’m talking about fictionally. Especially in a case where it’s not just a country (China, or Japan) it’s a continent where they do have resources to exploit. Not the least of which is magic.

I have been defending the story of this game since launch, but when I saw the Dredge and Flame Legion behind Fire and Ice I said, “Who cares….?”

To be honest my reaction was more like:

“. . . what? Why? Nevermind, beat them back THEN question it.”

The dredge have always registered as more annoyance than threat in my head, probably due to time spent in Ferndale. The Flame Legion, on the other hand, will always register as something to be stomped down quickly before they get enough momentum behind them to do anything big.

Last time they did something big, Ascalon burned.

Hypothetically speaking, if I were to dip into the Sapphire Sanctum jumping puzzle this week, being from Stormbluff, would I be immediately whacked upon discovery or do I at least get to get to finish it and grab the chest before I am murdered?

theres alot of carebears on mag that do jp, i’d be more worried about CD, they love jp fights.

that being said, expect to get chased down and killed if you see CAMP

So, be prepared to run like I stole it. Gotcha

And one should not forget Cantha, maybe weakened by the isolation, but who knows, maybe they are stronger than ever, ready to retake all of Tyria in the name of humanity?

By the way, discussed to death, but the asura are not peaceful. They simply aren’t keen on brute force themselves . . . more than willing to manipulate others into doing the work though.

But the best civilization I’m going to have to go with the dwarves. Long since disappeared and Deldrimor steel is still among the best you can get.

Well, you don’t really need bankers in total war but you do need the tens of thousands of workers who must be behind mining, smelting, alloying and so on all that metal, making all those shells, tanning square miles of leather, stitching leagues of er… stitches, etc.

Stitching leagues of seams.

Also two things. Asuran weapons which emit beams don’t require ammunition, and the charr powder-fueled weapons seem to enjoy single-piece projectiles rather than cased ammunition. Say, musket balls. So spent ammunition can, presumably, be collected and recycled.

I recall seeing what amounts to a massive smelter set up in the Black Citadel. If that’s any indication of what kind of metal resources the charr can call on in a pinch? I think they got enough to work with.

Were there any other questions?

I mean really… if you really want to defend getting one laurel per day then I guess we will never agree. There’s nothing wrong with you and I agreeing to disagree.

I would rather see innovative and interesting content than the same old dailies we’ve seen in other games.

I’d rather see a better way to achieve the goal of acquiring the best gear in the game than time gated dailies.

And yet, there’s a reason Laurels were designed this way and that Ascended has been allowed to slowly filter in instead of “all at once”. I suspect it’s so being able to earn it can be a matter of time instead of a matter of raiding til the wheels fall off.

Personally, I would have added it all at once with the time-gates so it was clear from the start they were long-term goals for casual players and easier-to-earn for those who want to push harder. Everyone has a chance to earn it, though at different rates; the people who just want to log in every day and fool around doing dailies can have their gear in six months when something other than Fractals is slated to hit which is more difficult than current level 80 (speculative). Let big guilds get theirs through Guild Missions, WvW players get theirs through Badges or whatever, Dungeon-divers can do Fractals, anyone else can wait or mix it up as they like.

If you want a full redesign, then go one step further. Ascended gets its power boost, but the way it’s earned is different. You get a “Infusion Chamber” item and input one “Token of Ascension” (call it whatever) and your Exotic item of choice. It turns it into an Ascended item of the same model. You infuse it by getting a “Token of Infusion” and using that to transform an upgrade component to give it one additional utility bonus (Karma, Magic Find, Gold Find, Experience, Influence) determined by the Token., and a basic Agony Resistance. These only go into Ascended items but are otherwise identical.

Boy are you glad I’m not designing the system right now, huh?

You cant seriously be that dense, ok take any heart where you need to “clear the road” of hostiles, there are many of them in the game in various zones. You spend 10 min running down the road killing the hostiles and destroying roadblocks/signs/whatever else the heart calls for. You go back the next day and guess what, there are still hostiles on the roads and roadblocks because guess what, other players also need to be able to do that heart quest.

Sure the guy will remember you did it and cleared the road but you didnt really clear the road because its still infested with hostiles.

You get a free shot to pick something meaningful, like Meatoberfest going on nigh forever, but you pick this? That’s taking a strike willingly, my friend.

I mean, the ones that come to mind are keeping the road clear of Sons of Svanir . . . which have that tendency to keep coming back because there’s always more of them out there. And they want to do this.

In the same vein, they’re going to continue trying to destroy Jora’s Statue because . . . they really, really hate her and there will always be someone wanting to put it right when it gets wrecked because she is kind of a big deal to the norn.

This isn’t “Lord Nagafen” dying and coming back every week like clockwork (“Oh Veeshan’s Shiny Butt it’s those idiots from Fires of Heaven again, well, better roar menacingly and hope they get it over with fast. I don’t get paid enough for this gig.”) or Hogger always being around tormenting newbies,

This is a faceless organized gang being disruptive.

It’s not even like the dragon champions aren’t covered – the dragons make many champions. “The Shatterer” is a title afforded to a particular type of champion, as is “Claw of Jormag”. Tequatl, I have no excuse for . . . and would have been a stellar choice to set up for a rant about how you kill it every three hours and it always comes back.

Orr is the place in the game that is most like Anet’s original vision, since it has no hearts.

And the events matter, the NPCs don’t manage to do much without support, and the “safe battle lines” often change quickly.

That is when Penitent Camp isn’t bugged and won’t work.

If you want a easy to find way underwater go north of ice flow waypoint in frostgorge and fight those 2 vetran jellyfish, they are well below the surface no where near it but will go invulnerable multiple times in a fight and swim away heal ungodly fast then come at you again, whicle you are in combat the whole time and dont heal.

I actually fought one once for over half a hour to see if i could kill it and couldnt, must have pulled the god mode invulnerable crap on me 50+ times in that one fight. But other times i can kill them as normal, it does seem very intermittant.

This is all I’ve been asking for :P I’ll go check it out sometime “today”.

It happens a lot for my ranger when using a longbow

Where, how, and I want to check this out because I don’t seem to have this issue as much as you. I want to be able to replicate this.

I really dont see how you are having a issue finding this bug, i cant avoid it with my thief using a shortbow unless i actually put in alot of effort into trying to avoid it.

Just go and engage in fight over very uneven terrain. Find a cliff side in queens or somewhere 600 feet long and say 40 feet tall with a way up from either end with centars because they are often ranged. And go up on it into the middle of it so enemies below would need to run 300+ feet either direction to get up to you and start shooting at them. Chances are the AI will be to dumb to figure out how to get up to you so will go invulnerable but the ranged ones will still have no issue shooting back at you from down below while they have god mode enabled.

I recently did a jumping puzzle of sorts in the Thaumanova Reactor, in the “Ice Room”. There’s a veteran ice elemental on a ledge you need to jump to. It can fire back at you but it cannot path to you. If you stand in its range it will fire back and throw skills. If you step back . . . it starts regenerating like crazy but did not go invulnerable.

(It might as well have been, though.)

I have also had Veteran Risen Giants I wind up dragging too far away from their normal areas path back the same way, but that’s from leashing and is . . . as far as I can tell, definitely intended.

I have not had a target go straight-up “invulnerable” with one exception: monsters which get too close to the water surface. Which has been happening less of late.
