You seem to think you’re proving some kind of point, but you’re not. All buffs being equal, a Thief has greater damage potential over time than a Warrior in pve using meta builds. This is undeniable: they have superior weapon coefficients/time and superior base damage modifiers. If you compare coefficients of attack skills over time and base damage modifiers there really isn’t any debate whatsoever, unless you intentionally misrepresent that.

That’s a huge problem. And if Fractals are “end game” why is Fractal 50 easier than Ascalonian Catacombs p2? I see tons of outrageously bad players and teams managing to finish fractal level 50 on Twitch every day, and I know for a fact those same teams and players would take over an hour to finish Ascalonian Catacombs p2. I disagree that it’s not a problem, and I disagree that Fractals are the hardest content in the game.

To combat rolling, would it be out of line to suggest just having a voting period between fractals?

Actually, the grubs are the ONLY issue in higher level fractals. At 70+ the grubs will wipe you incredibly fast if you don’t have reflect uptime.

Chris, I was wondering if you would comment on my suggestion for using Twilight Arbor Forward Up as a Fractal Shard earlier in the CDI discussion.

The dredge fractal is already a problem for most PUG groups. Is it really a good idea to add a fractal that would be even worse for them?

If you read the proposal it advised fixing the spider despawn. If you fix that, the path is perfectly fine and infinitely more fun and interesting than any of the other 3rd tier fractals and would make a great addition.

Vivenna is a challenging boss fight, but having a few skill intensive boss fights in the game wouldn’t be terrible.

i dont play warrior. i play thief. i have tested EVISCERATE, 100b, and BACKSTAB all in wvw under same conditions.

25 stacks vulnerability
25 stacks bloodlust

and they were both the same dmg. only REAL difference is that warrior had higher HP/toughness/defense/armor and more attacks per X time.

Forgive me for not taking your word for it but do you have any physical proof for these results? It must be incredibly difficult to get control like conditions in WvWvW for experimenting. I would like to see how you did it so I can try it myself.

Good thing this is a team game. Most people get upset when challenged and offer “1v1 fite me bra” but the reality is, in PvP there is no guarantee of a 1v1 so why force such a situation. There is no best player, there is the best team.

Tree, since you are in DnT and have all the “best” players available, can you post an up to date video of completing dredge the normal way, preferably 41+? This would help us plebs comprehend how easy the dungeon can be.

Personally I don’t mind doing the first part or the cage. My whole issue is the bomb/turret path and the endless grind from the dredge cart. Unnecessary amounts of dredge, cart eating attacks, immunity when first spawning, the rifle guys (can’t remember the name) that can shoot through the cart if you sit in the back.

So my suggestion is “Please sir can I have some more” DnT updated dredge video? Thanks,

Sure. It will take some time since we can’t roll for dredge first like before and there is some rng when we get to the third shard. Obal is currently updating all of his fractal guides at lvl48 so keep checking his YouTube channel!

To be honest, I’ve never heard of “Knights of Ares” so I am doubtful of your knowledge of “current dungeon tactics”. Do you have any resources that I can look at that proves you are experienced and able to teach dungeons correctly?

I’m not trolling. How hard is it to believe that they have this game under control? They proved they can manage a game with GW1. Just because their vision of the game does not line up with yours does not mean they are irresponsible with this game. Remember, their lively hood depends on the success of this game so they are going to prioritize issues with that in mind.

So it is confirmed that killing the left side does not spawn more mobs.

Any groups I run with don’t kill the group on the right because doing so will spawn mobs on both sides again. I would assume that when you killed one, you did it on the right side. I am speculating that the right side mobs govern the newly spawned adds.

TL;DR; Don’t kill the mobs on the right side of the cage.

Edit Also the mobs actually hit less harder than they did before the Fractured update.

I like this idea. It gives more freedom to the player to choose how they want to play.

Circular reasoning. There’s a lot of stuff overlooked by the developers, and Fractals and dungeons certainly are one of them.

The subtlety and word choice are pure genius.

If Tree’s goal was to irritate me then he is doing a fine job. The developers are not gods that can see everything from a players perspective, and the majority of players do not like dredge fractal at all. Tree disrespects everyone’s thoughts on dredge while at the same time posting some “L2P” talk to everyone that doesn’t agree with his view on dredge.

The developers have more information than we the players. We only speculate whereas the developers are able to make informed decisions about what content is put into this game. We have no idea how their engine works let alone how their development process works. The dredge fractal has been tested and approved for release (this is evident since we are able to consume that content).

I’m not posting “L2P” talk. I simply say, if you find the content challenging, then educate yourself on the encounters, think about how your class can make the encounter easier, transpose that into a group setting, then refine your ideas, then finally test your hypothesis.

My answer to that is, find a few other people who are willing to learn and experiment. I don’t see why you would want easier content. The sense of accomplishment after doing the above steps is reward enough when you know YOU overcame the hardship where so many others failed.

If you do the above steps and still cannot complete dredge in a reasonable amount of time, whisper me in game (my account name is on all my posts) and I will personally guide you through the shard so we can experience it together.

Sure we can do it how it is now, but the way the map is designed is not fun, its frustrating, and at they very least. I don’t know if you have tried dredge fractal at level 50. Do you find it fun battering through endless of spawn of dredge? Maybe die thousand of times because the PUG you party with didn’t know what to do, and despite explaining them millions of times they don’t get it? Or maybe you enjoy spending 1-2hours on one map because it was chosen by RNG?

I am in DnT so I have done a dredge at level 65+ in less than 40 min (clown car scaling is a bit ridiculous.) I also do a 48 daily.

What do we do when we get knocked down? We pick ourselves up again. Learn to overcome these difficulties and you will be a better player in the end. Dredge is not impossible. Dredge is not even that long of a shard. Just look at some YouTube videos if you don’t think you can complete dredge in a fair amount of time.

Hello everyone.

Today I’d like to talk about a problem that have been here since the release of that certain map. The dredge fractal. I’m pretty sure I’m not the first to complain or wanting to discuss this, and i’m not going to be the last either. I was just notified by fellow redditors when I read the following message.

So what/how are people exploiting the dredge fractal? Simply there was two approach.

1. The jump above the cage. Basically one would run along the right side of the wall in the first room till you hit a spot where you could jump up against the right wall. Once you reached the top of the wall you could jump down to the ledge, run up the ledge and start jumping on the outside of the cage around it and over to the big cage. You would be above one of the two pad by now.

2. The mesmer portal. You would run to the ledge that lead to the second room (second room as either melt the door or the bombs one) but before you reach the sealed off gate, you would jump down to the white pipe below this ledge. (must have some sort of improved movement speed and out of combat to reach the pipe) run along this pipe to the big cage and stack right outside of it. Then after clearing out the left side of dredge, the mesmer would lay down a portal, and then blink over and into the big cage and put down a portal so rest of the team would join in.

So why am I explaining this exploit? Because I want people to know the story behind what I want to really tell, and because by skipping the first part of the room you probably “saved” your team from a process that would take extra 10min or more.

Dredge fractal is no fun at all. There are so many points I could pick out, but to begin with the exploits. It’s waaaaaay too long for a fractal level. Why is it long? because first, the intended way is to run up to each pad in the first room to let people in to the big cage. Then we need to coordinate who is standing on the two remaining pads in the big cage while one use the console to open the door to second room. In the second room we have an RNG between melting the door or running up bombs. Once we have done that. We enter the room with most complain overall in this map. The Caravan. OMG I seriously don’t understand the meaning behind it. So we have to kill the champion before spending 5-10 extra minutes to slay dredge popping out from the caravan. Once the caravan meter is depleted we get to the very final room where we have an RNG between a Dredge in a mining suit boss or an Ice elemental. Run around in a circle or back and forth between lava bucket which you pour over the boss to deal tons of damage.

When I do fractal of the mist I believe the core design of what a fractal is

• taking you as a player back in time
• not spending over 2 hours in a one map, but rather spend 20min-45min max per map
• not encouraging people to do exploit because Y X Z is making progression faster
• not adding trash mobs that serve as a time consumer, but rather have a purpose of why they are there

and so on.

TL:DR. I wish and hope that A-net take some time to analyse what is fun and what’s not. Cause for instance Thumanova Reactor fractal has much greater design, and understanding of why the trash mobs are there, why we are doing Y X Z? etc. Dredge however? Tons of Dredge, caravan that feels like a…. added because we need something to consume time (content wise), encourage people to exploit to save time etc.

On the side note the only thing I can think positive of Dredge fractal is the drops, but other then that, nope. Too long for a fotm level, trash mob feels like a time consumer etc.

So Anet wnat us to skip most of the dgn’s content and want people to sell dgn runs too? This just promotes scamming since if you buy a path you can’t be sure if you will get what you want or if you just will get robbed.
I prefer runnign dgn’s to make gold over anything in this game. But because of this mentality I just run CoF and AC since it’s the easiest and what most people farm. I would actually try another dgn’s if they fixed these 2 since the ime to do these or other would basicly be the “same”.

I find it funny that you feel skipping is wrong when you “skip” typing the whole word dungeons and use the “faster” alternative dgn’s…

You are better off finding items that you can buy instantly and then list for more than (price you paid x 15%). Problem with using spidey is that everyone has access to it so unless you are tracking specific items then you probably won’t make much money.

I’d suggest looking at the API forum and making your own trading post crawler so you can personalize it yourself. There are plenty of tutorials on how to do it in multiple different ways.

Yeh, the griefers that knowingly merge parties to destroy sellers instances is pretty demoralizing. Not only was the time you ran the dungeon a complete waste, you know that no matter how many time you report those mergers, nothing will be done about the situation.

I leveled up by 100%’ing zones. I go in this order: Major Cities, then all the 1-15 maps, then the next level maps and so on. Chances are you will be 80 before you get to the level 80 zones.

This hardly affects the zerker meta. My healing signet heals per tick approx 120hp. Reducing that by 8% leaves me with approx 110hp per tick.

Suggestion: When activating healing signet give some boons like fury or 5 stacks of 15-20s might. Maybe some stability? Or Reduce the cool down of healing signet and increase the base heal while lowering the passive even more.
