For anet to fix this:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/pvp/Tournament-chests-and-transferring-between-server-regions/page/3#post2279042
effectively blocking people from progressing in ranks. Yay. For 9 months.
All the effort is on creating new and awesome town clothing hears and shinny backpacks!
Bug fixing is just boring…
I’m pretty sure the reason is that in order to fix the bug they will have to rearrange the way they count matches played, which is messy because it affects other things. I get that it is not one of the easy fixes, but to ignore a bug that blocks progress in PvP for those affected is just plain bad prioritizing. Postponing it for 9 months, even worse! We should not have to be ignored just because they made a bad programming decision.
250 arcane powder
100 Paid Tourney Tokens
100 arcane slivers
And a weapon token. :}
That would require players to actually be able to earn reward chests. Some haven’t seen one in 8 months.
This is a game breaking issue for many players, and they should get their fix or kitten refund, imo.
And it is really that simple. Even if it’s a nasty one to fix, I have no clue how it can have been postponed for 8 months.
There is a difference here, I still do not mind spending the money. However, I don’t think it is fair to people who don’t have the money to be told the purchased ones have a better chance, when the cost is 100-300+ dollars. That is the difference here, before we knew the chance was low and this time it sounded more like it was a decent chance.
Hi hypocrite. Thanks for having OUR back when WE wanted something in the kitten ed RNG chests.
And what do you use your skill points for? I have hundreds on my various toons…
442 skill points and counting. Unlocked all skills and spent ~100
Has anyone ever seen some one from anet actually play the game. Most of the time they talk about what is in the best interest of us or what they think would be more fun. But it seems to be going in the wrong direction cause everyone keeps complaining. I all most wonder if they even play there own game. I mean i wonder if they are satisfied with how it turned out.
Does everyone think that Anet or NCsoft or who ever makes the decisions is creating better content that the gamer actually wants or just easy filler to appease people cause they promised they would give us new stuff?
With about 1500 times logged I have seen them twice. In the Wintersday jumping puzzle (2 of them) and outside Super Adventure Box (1 afk). Both cases was on Northern Shiverpeaks.
If people care about the PvP in this game they would not leave because of some silly Tourney win chest that gives just about squat in terms of rewards. I’m sure people have left because of the imbalances that are currently in place as of now.
The “squat” you are referring to accumulated to over half the progression from playing tPvP. When you add the contents of chests together it becomes quite a lot. I’m personally missing around 80 chests – Not much compared to others. That adds up to around 320 pieces of gear, 16000 rank points and 16000 glory. Some players are missing thrice these amounts. With no idea whether we will ever see this replaced or ever have it fixed.. I don’t get how that can be postponed for 8 months. It’s not balancing, it’s not something you need to constantly work on. It requires a one-time fix. That’s it.
Since the bug is 8 month old and the last update was 4 month ago, on a bug so severe that it caused (and maybe still causes) players to leave the game, I would really love an update on this bug.
People have played hundreds of tpvp matches without ever seeing a reward chest. Not much else to say. How horribly this bug has been handled is beyond belief, and support can not even refund chests, rank points or glory for all the matches played, although it an easily replicable bug that simply slows people from progressing in pvp rank and glory by a factor of over 50%. What the actual cat. How is this not one of the highest priorities?
People have left the game over this bug. Just the thread has over 10.000 views. What does it take to make it a priority?
What is the status? When are players going to have all their wins refunded? When will it be fixed. No ETA is simply not good enough for a bug of that magnitude.
Nah. That can’t be a problem.
(edited by Treeline.3865)
While I would love dailies to be reworked (Or be gone) this is definitely not how to.
The problem is that I’m gated from that item unless I do things I don’t find enjoyable. If they offered alternatives that don’t include mindless chores that make me want to start cutting myself and start listening to Japanese Noise, I would be fine.
Ouch. Valid answer actually. I do not mind gating in the sense that if you want something it will take you time to get. But I agree that as long as dailies are not what they are supposed to be it is a problem. Question is whether you set the “problem marker” at the laurels or the dailies. I think laurels are fine. Dailies on the other hand..
Ah, but the Ascended items gained from Laurels are in no way exclusive to Laurels and are obtainable by doing other stuff.
So, how do I obtain Ascended Amulets without doing dailies again?
That is one item, how is that a problem?
So people are allowed to play the way YOU feel is right, but not other ways?
GW2 is a MMORPG, RPG suggest roleplaying. Roleplaying does not always include fighting and killing. Therefore in order to shout about people playing the game the way they want you should also give those people the right to play the way they want. And therefore they should also, by your logic, get the dailies by simply chatting.Hmm? It is quite usual for roamers to waylay people away from the cap-points, that is after all the point of a roamer. To roam around and disturb the enemy movements.
Exactly, and yet you don’t accept that people don’t play the same way you do
You are putting a whole bunch of words into my mouth that I never wrote, so I’m going to lay off the conversation after this, as I already stated my points.
Sending messages is not playing the game, and you can argue all you want but fact is
- You do not change anything in the game.
- You do not affect the game in any way.
- The game does not respond to your chatter in any way.
- You do not interact with anything in the world.
That does not mean that I want to decide how people play. That is entirely their choice.
…Also what!? Are you AFK when all players are battling at points, waiting for someone to get out of spawn? Even if you roam there will be times where you can not do anything without going to a point. Seriously the game revolves around capturing these points. If you ignore them and only chase down players whenever they are off points.. Well either they will run to a point and you will have to chase them (But oh wait you roam so you can’t go to the point, he’s safe there
) or you will have to run around mindlessly waiting for more players to be off point. In other words you’re losing.
I will have to correct myself; While the daily philosophy was to be awarded for how you play, I really wouldn’t want that to include
“Lose 3 matches in tPvP”
“Die 5 times”
“Have your party wipe 3 times in an explorable dungeon”
“Die while trying to defend a keep in WvW”.
…You get it..
Are you serious? The dailies are as easy as they can be. You can do them within an hour of just… well, doing what you described. I have no idea how you manage to not get them especially when playing several hours a day. I give you that occasionally there might be combinations of tasks that don’t work well for you. But you still should be able to get them easily most of the time.
It’s quite simple really, not everyone play the same way. For example I have no clue what I want to do that includes killing 3 veterans in Maguuma today.
Exactly, and some people want to play the game by simply standing around in Lions Arch talking to people. Therefore in order for them to be able to get their dailies by “playing the way they want” they would get it by simply logging in. Don’t you see the issue with that?
I do indeed. The philosophy was to “play how you want” not “chat how you want”. Chatting does not affect anything in the game in any way and can not be considered playing.
Hmm? It would actually be impossible to complete the PvP daily if you focus only on roaming and fighting the enemies. Since they also require capping, which would not be done by a roamer usually.
If you manage to roam and kill people without ever capturing a point that is pretty impressive seeing that most fights take place on objectives. I haven’t ever seen a roamer who goes to a point, kills the bunker who is defending it, just to leave the point. And I sure hope I won’t meet one!
Eventually you should get the captures.
I usually complete a PvE daily in about 30 minutes at most, and that is by playing as usual (and maybe craft 10 planks or whatever), so clearly it is quite possible to complete the dailies without actively working on it.
Clearly! Do however also keep in mind that the way you play does not represent the other 3 million players
So you basically want to get the daily completed by simply logging in?
Because that is really the only way that would reward everyone playing “the way they want”.
@knives, the reply answers your post as well.
That is kind of ignorant to assume and a bad attempt at invalidating what I wrote. I wrote exactly what we were told though that we should be able to complete dailies by “playing the game how we want” – By playing how we want, one must assume an average players online for maybe 2 hours on an average day. I’m pretty sure just about no one comes online for 2 hours to go kill 30 mobs in Shiverpeaks, then go kill 10 people in WvW, then do a dungeon, then eat 25 foods and go craft 10 items. Dailies should be a smaller thing. If you come online for 2 hours to kill some people in WvW and cap a few camps, maybe a tower that should be a daily. If you go do 3 explorable dungeons, maybe even a few different ones, then that should be a daily.
Try comparing it to daily PvP (which awards you a much easier laurel) – No matter how you play PvP you WILL get the daily. You can’t not finish 3 matches if you stick with a game. Capturing points and getting kills are pretty much tkittenence of PvP. You are rewarded for playing daily.
PvE does not do this. You have to do very specific things to complete the daily and time investment is way higher than PvP (Usually).
The dailies are a problem. They are meant to award you for “playing how you want to play”. Being online several hours a day I rarely get 5/9 dailies from playing how I want to play which includes doing most of the world bosses (Kills, veterans, mentor, kills in area X) and doing explorable dungeons (dungeon daily). I do not like WvW zergfest which is 2/9 every day and I certainly don’t eat 25 foods or use the toilet 5 times a day. Dailies ARE forced if you want laurels – But that is okay because they award you for how you want to play.. Oh wait.
I just popped a holo projector in Iron Marches which brought the Orr holos out and it drew two warthogs to boot. Not counting the initial KD, and two evades I was knocked down and/or stunned SEVEN TIMES IN A ROW before I could even begin the fight.
For the love of all that is holy, STOP WITH THE ENDLESS CC in this game from every freaking mob. It is not “challenging” it is not fun it is strictly infuriating and pointless and drags fights out for absolutely no reason.
Getting pulled a half dozen times in ten seconds by spiders is MADDENING. Getting constantly locked down because every enemy in the area can do a knockdown or stun is MADDENING. Stop. With. The. Ceaseless. CC.
Video documentation please. I refuse to believe you were stunned 7 times in a row. Also dodges and condition removal is there for a reason. CC is not bad at all in this game.
Same bug here.
Flushing DNS did it. Thanks
Traited signets does wonders (Signet of Stone). Thief burst = 0, 0, 0, 0, 0.
So, I tried asking on the Q&A session on the GuildWars2 stream. After asking for an ETA about the bugfix, the message was deleted twice, and I was banned from the chat. Kick me more in the nuts, Anet. Please.
“We apologize for the first round of fireworks events being bugged. There is a new build that will go up in a moment fixing the previous issue regarding its starting time. To make up for the problem we have introduced a NEW item in the Black Lion Trading Company called the Superior Dragon Coffer! We have heard your cries in regards to the drop rate for the beautiful Jade skins so we wanted to do something special to show you that we appreciate all of our gamers! They now have double the chance to drop the weapon skin tickets inside them. Previously it was 0.0001%! Good luck and enjoy the festival!”
-Dev Tracker
I almost blew some air out my nose. Nice try.
Had one chance to get the fireworks viewed and then I have to go out of town for the weekend. Thanks for doing things on time as usual Anet. I expect you will remove this post like you do every other negative thread/post. I hope the delay was to add more RNG, add more DR, reduce drop rates, nerf farms and all those wonderful things you do to us players! Looking forward to your “deleted and infracted” mails on Monday! <3
Well.. That actually sounded a bit too familiar.
Same. Overflow.
Same here got disconnected for inactivity while betting on Moas.
Cant believe it’s still not fixed
It requires some work to fix, I’ll give them that. But 7 months is pretty incredible, especially with players having left over the bug.
The supply was very limited and at their cheapest back in november they were 30g. Not unreasonable seeing that they aren’t really that easy to get.
There’s a difference between grinding and farming.
You killing the same set of creatures over and over is grinding, devs don’t like that.
Farming would be you killing those spiders 1 time then going and killing spiders somewhere else, devs are okay with that.
“Grinding is a term used in video gaming to describe the process of engaging in repetitive tasks during video games[…]often necessary for a character to repeatedly kill AI-controlled monsters, using basically the same strategy over again to advance their character level to be able to access newer content. "
“Related terms include farming (in which the repetition is undertaken in order to obtain items, relating the activity to tending a farm field),[…]”
Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grinding_
Sure sounds like farming to me.
Wow I thought the antifarming people left the game ages ago…
“If you farm, the game is not for you”… Looks over at CoF, world bosses, entire Southsun Cove and Orr…..
Hey. Im just going to bring the headlines
Heroes [Hero]
Server: Seafarer’s Rest (EU) – It’s a good server, at least compared to Far Shiverpeaks where I came from.
36 members at the moment. Very chatty although it only goes crazy in the evening
Around 4-5 members who spend most their time in WvW, of which one is a Commander. Also some WvW “casuals”, myself included.
Plenty of people doing PvE, including dungeons, and people are helpful so if you really need something done there is usually someone around to help.
For PvP there’s just a few of us. I’m pretty regular though and do tPvP as well.
Most of the Guild is casual but there are some casual-hardcore players who spend way too much time online.
Edit: Also I believe the server population is still “Medium” which means 500 gems for a transfer.. Oddly enough we are doing very well in WvW and there is in general more activity in maps compared to Far Shiverpeaks where population were “Very High” :S
Yep, I haven’t found a ranger build capable of dueling a decent HGH engineer yet either. I don’t get how you counter conditions though. And that’s coming from someone who plays ranger as main for 1400 hours with around 300 tpvp matches. On power shortbow which I used when I started tpvp my only saving grace from conditions was to gtfo when stars didn’t align and try another target. On my bunker ranger I changed to healing spring and oh dear the condition removal <3
Kill videoes like this are a bit laughable because all defeats are omitted, but I would LOVE to see a few duels versus heavy condition builds. Your build has no condition removal at all. I am assuming little condition damage as well so you can not duel other bunkers for a kill within any reasonable timeframe. Also yes, you do spam buttons a bit. You show that you know when to pop certain skills, but sometimes it is a spam. No worries, I tend to dodge spam too.
But that’s not really a good solution since you would have to do this all again if you had to change servor.
If the chest in itself isn’t such a big issue, the 200 glory points are a problem. At a point( let’s say above r40), you rank up very slowly, and thus it can take 2-3 times longer to achieve, which isn’t really fair.
Maybe the 200 points should be added at the end of the match, in the results chart…
That would be a nice temporary solution. Not to say I dont care about the chests, but rank points would definitely help.. Im at about 80 games now with no chest reward. Good Guy Anet… Cough.
Evan Lesh mentioned in the last sPvP State of the Game that there are some updates coming to the matchmaking system. If you’re curious, the VOD for that show is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IIKjxfuKBqw
That is great, but it is more than the matchmaking. Try solo queing for a few games and you will see a lot of games starting without 5th player on teams.
This shows a clear imbalance in the MM-System. Having fun looks different for me.
But that’s only half! The 4vs5 and akitten’ers was never even playing. It wasn’t some “Oh kitten this, we’re gonna lose” idiots. That’s why I want to see the time ban ASAP. It’s nearly half the games.
Today’s tpvp so far:
Match 1: Got matched with rank 1 and rank 5. They were both clueless and we lost 500/12x
Match 2: Good fight, lost.
Match 3: 5th guy akitten (Really anet, we cant write away from keyboard?)
Match 4: 4vs5
Match 5: 4vs5
Match 6: matched with a rank 5
Match 7: Holy crap I dropped far. Lost vs rank 2 and 9. Good game though.
Match 8: Good match!
(edited by Treeline.3865)
Just stopped by to apologize to Empathic Fighter since I was wrong. Just got paired with a rank 1 & 5. I thought that was fixed >.>
It’s like saying, we amputate your leg because it hurts. We don’t search for the reason why your leg hurts. But if we amputate your leg, you won’t have pain anymore. Problem solved! Great solution there.
The only reason my leg hurts without talking class balance is 4vs5 and 5vs4 battles. I mostly soloqueue but it happens that I team up as well. On any regular 5vs5 encounter I think it is pretty well balanced. Since they fixed the bug where you could get random rank 1’s on your team I have only been matched against rank 20-50 players and rarely gets completely destroyed. Matches are somewhat even with hard counter exceptions. I have just about never had something like 130-500, 67-500 or [insert any number below 200pts] unless something is wrong with the amount of players in my game.
I don’t have any issues with matchmaking – Not that improvements aren’t welcome, but matching seems to be somewhat fair from where I’m sitting. And by all means if the leavers is going to quit PvP, by all means. More 5vs5 for me.
Edit: Seems we agree that a queue split would be nice though.
Sometimes I can understand the frustration some players have, being permanently matched against premades. This frustration leads to leaving the game. If the soloQ is seperated and the MM-System contains more indicators than just your personal rating, than you can add a punishment for leaving. But not before.
I can’t. While I can agree that it would be nice to have soloqueue and teamqueue there is nothing wrong with being matched against a premade since your opponents are rankbased. I have been keeping track of my state on leaderboards and watched myself rise from around 50% on the board to my current of 85-95%. You almost never get matched against a well coordinated premade team until you hit 90% in my experience. So if you hit these premades constantly they are either not very good, or your rating is pretty good. I take it as a compliment when I get my face smashed in by a good premade team.
4v5 is caused by people leaving mid-match (could be caused by crashes or people feeling the match is futile) or not even entering the match (afk, crash, bugged out enter buttons etc).
Which is why it will help tremendously to punish these players. If you leave mid match it is the players fault. If you feel the match is futile (and leave) it is still your fault. If you akitten and can’t enter it is your fault (Note: In the scenario a player does not enter the match it should never start – Just kick the players to lobby and put them back in queue. This will fix akitten’ers crashers and bugs where people never get in the game, and while it is annoying to get back in queue it is way better than a 4vs5.)
About crashes.. Well if they happen often you shouldn’t be playing anything that includes a team since you possibly can’t contribute anything. Not saying it’s the players fault that he/she crashes, but that doesn’t mean he/she should take it out on 9 other players.
I don’t see how a simple system to block people from new matches would hurt anyone.
Example:
Player leaves a game.
Player leaves a game again – Can’t enter a new game for 20 minutes
Player leaves a game again – Can’t enter a new game for an hour
Player leaves a game yet again – Can’t enter a new game until daily reset
People who leave on purpose will get tired of this pretty fast. You can still crash your computer a few times without being impaired by the system. It hurts no one but improves a lot of matches.
What are you talking about, GW being unfair could never happen.
Attached what happens when Anet patch during matchmaking, disabling anyone from entering the match with an error code telling you that you need to patch (Even after having patched) – We ended up being 4vs2 after several tries to get in the match.
I’d just like to applaud the customer service at A-Net that I didn’t even know existed anymore in this day and age. I had a problem with my account, that I figured would be unfixable or would be put off for a couple of days or even weeks. Much to my surprise it was taken care of promptly and I’m very satisfied. I really appreciate you guys and wanted to come here to give you recognition for a job well done.
Keep up the great work guys. I don’t play this game as much as I do my others but after my experience with this you’ve gained a very loyal customer.
Can you tell them to fix the 7-month old bug with PvP reward chests? I kind of want to receive tpvp rewards again some day. And anet owes me around 60 chests.
Its a little disappointing that I wanted to play an archer and Ranger seemed like the best fit. Only to find that they are better with melee weapons lol
Edit: I wouldn’t mind a shortbow great sword build. If that makes for a viable power build. Would the DD505 be my best bet
You are however also receiving a lot of crap from players who think their build is the only viable build. You definitely have choices and let me focus on the ranged ones since you like them.
PvE:
As it has been said Shortbow is just great. High DPS (For a ranger) suited for both power and condition builds. When playing in groups you don’t want to run condition builds though due to the cap of 25 stacks which you hit easily with bleeds (= lower damage) If relatively skilled you can run (And probably should) a berserker build since you can dictate the range – The shortbow gives you both an extra dodge, cripple and an interrupt. Pretty nice.
Longbow always receives much hate and honestly I rarely see anyone use it properly outside of PvP. I don’t recommend using it when running around alone, I would take the shortbow for that. It yields a lower DPS than shortbow unless you can stay max range at all times which is unreasonable. In dungeons it’s a bit different. The longbow pops 10 stacks of vulnerability which means your teammates will do +10% damage as well, effectively yielding more damage than the shortbow. It also has a decent AOE for zerg encounters. Honestly though, I stay on my shortbow and it is largely a matter of preference.
Now you’re wondering “but that guy told me sword was way better” – Well.. It yields SLIGHTLY higher DPS than both bows.. And we’re talking 5% higher at the most. (You can find the calculations somewhere, google it if you like) – But it also comes at the expense of being in a very dangerous location, especially if you are running a berserker build. Not worth it in my opinion, but if you can live and keep popping the damage, by all means.
PvP:
In any event you are going to want at least 1 ranged weapon. Popular choice is shortbow because it is great for dueling → consistent damage, poison, evade, cripple, interrupt. Got to love it. I wouldn’t recommend using longbow here, but that’s not to say it is not viable. A few amazing people pull it off, using the knockback right and spreading conditions like a plague with the AOE. It’s not easy getting that right.
As a secondary weapon sword gets into play. In PvP you will have a hard time just staying at the back and sword has some utility. First of all the auto attack is a permacripple and great when you catch up to a runner. They will mostly have to fight you. Second it is great for defense even with the high DPS. Both skill 2 and 3 are quite the decent bonus dodges. For offhand I usually go with warhorn for the utility of swiftness and 20% crit to teammates.
When it comes to PvP builds there’s quite a few choices and I can’t possibly know them all, but I get surprised what people run sometimes. It isn’t always all bad.
The ones I run:
Berserker: Shortbow + Sword & Warhorn
– Excellent duelist build. Will slice most other glass cannons.
Condition: Shortbow + Sword & Warhorn
– Also great for dueling. Slices bunkers decently
Bunker: Shortbow + Sword & Warhorn (I love those weapons!!)
– We actually DO make a nice bunker and it’s currently my favourite build for PvP.
Congratulations. I think I still have around 40 to go, and for reference, Anet (I know they’re not reading here, who am I fooling) you currently owe me around 60 chests including rank points and glory.
Johanson then went on to say, “We’re committed to growing core and PvP communities. We want to offer strong support for the PvP community and then we’ll look into other options for how the PvP game plays out for the entire community. There are lots of exciting things in store for PvP down the road.”
Where is this strong support for the PvP community he is talking about?
So in other words im best off to keep trying for the cheap recipe until it works?
Edit: So far 5 Valley Greatswords.. Hmmm.. Forest is elusive much
(edited by Treeline.3865)
So I’m trying to craft all the dolyak rank gear and got stuck at forest weapon (Missing 3 pieces) – According to Wiki the recipe for this is
1 Item Token
1 Dolyak Token
1 Arcane Orb
5 Arcane Powder
This recipe gives me Valley weapons. Anyone know the correct recipe for Forest weapons?
Edit: Oh come on.. The recipe for flame weapons just gave me a Forest Weapon.. I tried it again and it gave me a Flame weapon.. What is this?
(edited by Treeline.3865)
In the end you noticed the “unique”. Yet didn’t wonder what it was. So yes in common sense you should have either realized what it meant or researched it.
