What an arrogant answer. I don’t mean to sound offensive, but you don’t get to decide what is playing and what is not. I don’t like the farming either. I don’t understand while people want to stand in LA all day playing the TP. But wow, let people play their game will you?

I can confirm this, although I’m uncertain what caused it. It was right after patch, when I started progressing through mid 30’s. And it includes chests, especially the end one. I used to always (with NO exception) get at very least 1 rare from it, often up to 3-4. Now I might get a rare ~50% of the time.

Anet gave the community what they wanted. Stop complaining about getting something good. Man, can’t please anybody.

You are making so many errors in that sentence. They gave a part of community what they wanted. Now I’m representing another part of the community (no matter how small or big that part is), who never wanted to see this patch. I am very well aware that someone asked for this. Also you assume it is “good”. To be honest I could not care less whether I get 2 rares which I can sell for 20+20 silver, or I get 1 rare which I can sell for 40 silver. But I think it is plain bad to pull people to face stomp the same bosses over and over. Some of these doesn’t even have a pre-event. People come, kill the boss, move on. I don’t see how that is good, but it is subjective, as you clearly can see. And as you can see from other like minded people you are clearly pleased with the patch. But if you are all pleased, please argue your case and contribute to the discussion, or leave it to die if you have no input.

I agree with the OP, and I’ll try and restrain myself from discussing how critique is modded as well. Anyways, I feel like I can’t trust them as well. This is not due to bad patches however, although there has definitely been some. It is due to simple poor communication. I appreciate they are out doing PR for their game a lot, but the LEAST they can do is give us proper patch notes. There is ALWAYS something missing, or directly wrong. And not due to bugs. When people then move on to criticize ArenaNet I feel like they get shut down in many cases if there is any excuse to do so.

You do not farm for days and not see a rare.

hoy, no offence but in normal maps you can farm days without getting even single rare. I had once 2 weeks when I didn’t even see rare while I was running in orr and frostgorge, also doing some dragons, while I played 8-10 hours day.
So honestly it was really really unrewarding.

In dungeons though I get them at least one rare in 3 runs. But I don’t count them as normal map event etc running/farming. Since they are “DUNGEONS”.
Thus I love new dragon loot system, at least something in this game rewards me for actually doing it.

Non taken. I’m sorry I should have been more clear, and you are absolutely right, in normal PvE there were next to no rares, and I approve that they are actually seen in normal play now. I got 3 so far. What I count as farming is certain events or dungeons that has higher than average chance of yielding some cash-in loot. And what I despise now is that running the PvE bosses is now far superior to any other activity. So even if they buffed general PvE drops, it still won’t help people do more PvE because the bosses got buffed so much that everyone can see it is a main source of income at the moment. I definitely want you to have a rare once in a while from doing normal PvE. I just don’t want you to have 10 because you teleported to 10 waypoints and got a few hits in on a boss

On another note. I initially thought of the droprate to be near 1½ rare per boss. I’ll agree it is more like 1.2 – 1.3. After ~25-30 bosses I have still gotten a rare every time, but I do not get a second rare every other time. Maybe 1 in 4 times. I still think it is too much though.

You guys all need to look apart from what the OP is doing, at to what he is saying. They DID nerf Fractals drops heavily. Even at level 34 I’m not seeing half the rares I used to. Last time I came out with a core and 1 rare. Before patch it was not uncommon for me to come out with 3-6 cores and I guess 4-5 rares. Fractals is not worth leveling anymore, except for ascended rings if one does not already have them.

Oh well, here I go again to defend myself. Shouldn’t be neccessary but here goes;
No I did not “invest heavily on ecto”. At the time of the patch I was sitting on around 50 ecto. I saw what was happening and sold all my ecto. So if I were to buy the ecto back now I would actually have earned around 6-7 silver on every ecto I sold. I will just repeat myself yet another time; If people really got 0 rares and 0 exotics over the last 6 months, it is reason for Anet to look at their general RNG system, which must not be working, since a lot of other players looted rares and an occasional exotic just fine. It is not reason to hand them out for free. It is simply the wrong solution to the problem, even if I agree that ecto were a bit steep.

Also no, I am not a farmer, but I can sure see the incentive to do it now. If it matters I’m a completionist. You know minipets, achievements, highest level fractals possible, all dungeons done, getting all PvP gear etc.

Excellent change. Now the people with ten toons on their account can log each one at a boss spawn point as before, and log into whatever one is next in line for a boss chest, and be guaranteed at least one rare per toon per day. You can get a reward from a dragon by hitting it a couple of times without any armor and holding one weapon:-)

I gave up on dragon killing after 20 attempts as the best I would ever get was blues and greens.

If I could be bothered to log into the game any more I’d plant 5-6 toons next to boss spawn points.

You are forgetting the fact that with several bosses you can get at least 6-10 rares per toon. With 10 characters that is 60-100 rares, although even a farmer may have trouble staying awake for all that farming

Treeline.3865

I will try and step out of the discussion, as I think I’ve said what I can on the first page, and otherwise I’ll start repeating myself, but i’ll repeat myself on a few points, since they keep coming up:

- If you constantly get bad loot across the game while others get loot just fine, it is not argument to increase loot. It is a reason to rework RNG, so everyone has the same chance of getting rare loot.

- Getting 30 rares a day is not even remotely impossible, and to these who are unaware: Chests drop at least 1 rare. Chests are lootable once a day per boss per character.

- That a casual player cannot progress as much as people who are dedicated to farm as much income as possible should not be a argument for more rares so “everyone get something”; Nothing pre-patch hindered casuals from running a dungeon once a day and the best stat gear in a few weeks. And again, if they recieved no rares for any of these runs, ArenaNet should take a look at RNG – Not free 5-minute-rares. In another view it doesn’t even help casuals for income. If farmers can get the 30 rares a day (This is set low, but let’s go with it), while a casual can get 5 rares (also set low), the value of these 5 rares will be equally less compared to farmers. That is an illusion of getting a more fair income and only works for as long as prices are still lowering. At some point the case will be the same as always; The hardcore farmers get 6 times the rares you do. I don’t see how this patch benefitted casuals.

- Just to do an example of the above: Artificial examples of income – A farmer is able to farm 5g worth in loot a day while a casual is able to earn 1g. Let’s say we patch this baby up and increase rare drops by 200%. The casual player is now earning 3g a day and feels better. The farmer however now makes 15g a day. Did this help the situation of the casual player?

Also thanks for the suggestions (Not the find another game one, but the actual suggestions)

- Tokens as Avatar mentions is a good way standardizing the amount of loot that people get. While I would prefer normal looting, it would be a solution for those who say they never loot a rare. Then you know what you get, and if no one does the events then, well then you can argue that the reward is generally too low.

- Increasing the difficulty (and length) and/or making the boss less zerg-friendly would help the events actually have meaning and require a reasonable amount of efford required to loot the rare(s).

- Making chests available once per day per account. This would actually help a lot. While I still think ~10 rares for some quick events are a lot, it would change a few things: Hardcore farmers are not able to get 5 times the rares (through that content at least) that casuals do. People will also only have reason to do the bosses once a day which helps reduce the zergfest that bosses are now, and as such also make the bosses a bit more challenging. It will not be like before though (although bosses were still taken down before as well by 20-30 people on my server, including maw, not including fire elemental and behemoth), as people still have a strong incentive to do the bosses once a day.

- And my own of course, a simple half-way revert so people maybe have a 75% chance for a rare. (Or whatever is the middle ground for what was before and what is now)

Of these I would prefer a combination of 2 and 3. I’d love to hear what you all think about the options (And of course if you wouldn’t like any of them as well)

But if the events are being done by 20+, 30+ players, the zerg just detroys all the fun and challenge in ANY event. Bosses HP will drop down in less than 5 minutes without even attempting to play with the event’s mechanics.

I think you just defined the reason I hate farming better than I could have myself And what you are describing there is the exact scenario I have seen since the patch. You run in, stomp the boss, move on to the next. And I actually think I would feel that added difficulty or some kind of anti-zerg code would help my case a lot. If people are guaranteed a rare drop, I at least want them, and myself for that sake to have earned it.

Calculated, does it make sense you can loot at least 30 pieces of this rarity every day if you bother?

In the current vertical-progression model, yes [said with great sadness]. As “Rare” grade loot is useful but not of the same caliber as Exotic and Ascended. Furthermore, “Rare” will be further degraded in time due to power creep as more tiers are added, et al. Therefore, “Rare” is simply a stepping stone to further tiers and as such likely should be more available as we will, and already have, move[d] on from them to other tiers.

You’re definitely right that the caliber of the armor is getting worth less. But following that logic, if we add Awesomniom Gear(you pick a better name) as a new tier after Ascended, should that make exotic gear drop more, because it is now a bit more obsolete? Because I wouldn’t agree with that. Just because gear gets obsolete does not for me create reason to generate more of it.

Just like with the other thread that got closed today:

None of your complaints count as reasons to reduce the rare-item chance.

They’re reasons to buff the world bosses to be more difficult – More specifically, to make them anti-zerg.

Learn to see the bigger picture -> See the next step forward instead of wanting to go back

I don’t see how learning is an aspect, but it is definitely an idea that could help the situation as well, if the events took some more effort. That would re-introduce the sense of having accomplished something and actually having earned the rare waiting at the end.

Edit; Also, luckily it is not you who decide what valid reasons is, but you are welcome to argue your case, instead of using bold text to state something that is supposed to be facts. I also see no reason why the thread should be closed. The discussion is certainly going, although I certainly seem to be a minority so far.

I don’t see how the logic behind the gear is difficult, a rare should be rare, but a rare isn’t rare. If it is something you expect to see everytime you hit F on a chest, I’d say it is quite common.

Is it really necessary to get into semantics? Call a yellow a “gleep” and an orange a “glorp.” Perhaps that will help? Just because more people are running around in gleeps doesn’t make your glorps any less significant to you does it? There are plenty of ways differentiate your gear from others (skins/dyes), but from the very incarnation of the gear progression system it was always the intent to be reasonable to get max-ish gear.

In a game where you can buy legendarys with real cash, does it really matter that a bunch of people you’ll never see/know got an extra shiney?

Okay, let’s skip the semantics. We have 5 rarities of lootable gear. Rare is the second most uncommon gear obtainable through loot. Does it make sense this is consistantly obtainable through ~9 × 2-10 minute events, on 5 characters a day? Calculated, does it make sense you can loot at least 30 pieces of this rarity every day if you bother?

Good for you getting a rare every other run…. Try running 5 fractals in a row and not getting a single rare while everyone else is linking rares left and right. That just solidifies why this change was made as well. Did you even read my post? Because I stated some people got rares alot more often than others. I could go for days and not get a rare. Now I am guaranteed one just by joining in on world events….. I fail to see how that is a bad thing…. it equalizes things and drives the economy into a more affordable line vs one where prices were inflated due to things that are commonly needed at level 80 but aren’t common in their drop rate.

There were plenty of reports of people that would get nothing but blues and greens in their runs while friends were getting rares every run. I am sorry but just because your experience is different doesn’t mean its fact. Nor does my experience equal fact. But many reported what I just told you, so either we are all lieing or you just weren’t as unlucky as other players were.

Its really that simple.

What you are saying is simply not possible. The end chest after Jade Maw ALWAYS holds rare(s). BUT if what you say is the case, that does not justify creating entirely other means of getting rare gear; If anything, it justifies Anet taking a serious look at how their RNG system works. So fair enough, let’s say I get more rare gear than you in generel. That is a flaw, bug, error whatever you call it. It is not a reason to create an entirely different system to even the gear out. If the case you make is true, why not just fix that instead?

And when items require 250 to 500 ectos for an upgrade….. well 30s a pop…. and the fact that rares were dropping very rarely…. well you do the math. Thats 77 gold for 250….
Thats a huge expense for a item that is needed in pretty much EVERYTHING endgame and it can only be gained from rare or better items…. which were dropping very inconsistently and not inline with craft costs for items.

A quick note on that one; I believe you are refering to the fractal backpiece? The first 250 ecto is for 5 agony resistance, which is only neccessary for very highlevel fractals. At level 33 I still dont have it. But since level 20 you simply cant do fractals without coming out with a few rares, and occasionally a bound exotic. (Once again, I don’t use Magic Find). If you really want that upgrade you can get it from the cash you earned, progressing to.. Well.. Near level 40 i guess. That should net the 70-80g needed without a problem. The last upgrade for 250 ecto is cosmetic ONLY and can as such cost whatever.

Anything else that costs 250 ecto does not improve your stats from something that costs just about 250 ecto less.

think you are being overly dramatic..

For the first time in a long time people actually bother with dynamic events, that is a great thing.

and despite the fact that 1 rare is guaranteed it is very far from the most profitable option, it is simply a good DIVERSE option.

As for ecto prices dropping, ABOUT TIME! the ecto/rare prices went up WAY to much after the snowflake incident.

Goes hand in hand with precursor prices being ridicilous.

Unless ecto somehow bounces back precursor prices will finally drop some aswell, hopefully.

PS: I have done almost every chest event 2 time per day since patch went out, and I still havnt gotten a exo drop, so its definatly not overtuned.

I can’t speak for anyone else, but being very unlucky when it comes to loot in this game this has made the game alot more enjoyable for me.. before getting rares was almost impossible for me because my rng was horrible, and now I can actually to some extent keep up with the general population..

“First time people bother” – I don’t know about your server, but on mine the dragons were always killed as soon as they spawned. I can’t see why people would do dynamic events unless it has boss at the end? How does it help that people are farming the same 10 events, if the rest of the world is rotting?

I certainly agree, ecto was getting steep. But 10 silver down in 2 days.. It isn’t over yet, people has just begun farming. I don’t even have a guess at how low the ecto and rares will go.
Certainly agree with precursors as well, i have no idea how much that was changed though.

But seriously, if you look 2 weeks ahead.. How do you think the economy is looking?

But I have a question for you; Would you prefer this way of ensuring not getting rolled by RNG, or would you prefer playing content like dungeons, fractals, (long) dynamic events (not the boss ones) for the good drops? And again, please think a few weeks ahead, when you have killed maw 3 times a day for two weeks.

Good because it is your opinion…. one not shared by many.

Because before you would spend days farming and doing dragons or other things and get no rares….. the loot is right where it should be now….. exotics are still pretty rare which is the point. Just because yellow = rare doesn’t mean orange = non existant lol.

There have been thousands upon thousands of complaints on loot, some people were getting amazing drops multiple rares per run in dungeons over and over again while others got jack…. now everyone is getting decent loot.

And its going to stay that way because thats what the community asked for.

Your also forgetting that world chests can only be looted once per day per character so with the increase of chest loot came a nerf on how many times you can loot the chest.

So if someone just farmed each world boss off cd they would actually end up with more loot granted it is just blues with some greens, which they said was lower than intended btw. But now you can do each boss once a day and get a rare or better for sure and thats that. I fail to see the connection between the term RARE and your logic. Because technically exotics are rare and they still are.

That is plain false. You do not farm for days and not see a rare. I never used magic find, and while not a given I would get a rare at least every other run through a dungeon. And I did all dungeons, and some of them several times. I’d be very impressed if you legitimately can say you farmed a dungeon for days to never see a rare. And come on, exotics were not non-existant. But it is also the rarest lootable gear. If they dropped like rares did, we might as well have the GW1 state of weapon looting. It wasn’t even like the BLTP prices for exotics were bad. Most of the exotics I looted, I could sell for ~2g. You could equip a character in all rare gear for around 2g as well. (I’m not talking precursors here however!) Those numbers should represent the “rarity” of gear. If I can fully equip my character for ~2g in rares or ~15g in full exotic, I can’t see the gear being non-existant. In fact it would seem that some players found it very obtainable, since the price isn’t higher.

That some get “jack” in dungeons, while some get a lot, I dont really find relevant. One aspect is Magic Find. Another is that people are good at making it sound worse. Another thing is RNG. But that doesn’t explain to me while you should have a guaranteed rare for a 5 minute event; It could justify making a rare guaranteed for completing a dungeon which at least takes half an hour for normal people.

Not sure what i need your statement for, that it isn’t going to change. That is kind of arrogant to be honest; you are not the developer, but I shouldn’t need to spell that out. I have no reason not to try. The community is often represented by those who are unsatisfied. It is not you anymore, congratulations. That doesn’t mean there isn’t another subset of the community who can ask for something that contradicts the previously unsatisfied part of the community.

-No I’m not forgetting that you can’t loot more than once. But I don’t see how that is a nerf? Let’s go with the easy to farm bosses and a standard account; 6 bosses, 5 characters. That is at least 30 rares per day. Do you even want to farm any more after that?

I don’t see how the logic behind the gear is difficult, a rare should be rare, but a rare isn’t rare. If it is something you expect to see everytime you hit F on a chest, I’d say it is quite common.

-Most beneficial way to generate income now: Farm all bosses on all characters. Nothing else is worth playtime in comparison.

wait, so I don’t get it…do you play for fun or to make gold? Why would or should you feel forced to farm just because it is profitable? I mean seriously, what will you do with all that gold that you are amassing?

Saw that one coming. I play for fun. I did not mention “force” which I’m sure you’d love to have me say, that I’m forced to farm to keep up with other players, blabla. I am just sad that a rare isn’t rare and that generation of income now has a far superior method, which is farming bosses. While not forced to do anything, anyone wanting a bit of extra cash will identify boss farming as the (way) fastest method of doing it. There will always be faster ways to get gold, but should timer checking, waypointing and 2-5 minutes of auto attacking really be the best? It sounds really dull to me, compared to pre-patch where Dungeons, Fractals and big event chains were where you could play some fun content, while still making something off it. A guaranteed rare for stacking on 50 other players is not fun, at least to me. It was however fun a week ago when me and 3 other players killed Taidha Covington. It took us a while, it was challenging and fun. She went down in the end, and the chest had a rare for me! Awesome!! That is the gameplay I would encourage. And no, nothing is holding me back from still doing content like that (except there is now a quadruple amount of players farming bosses), but there is absolutely no sense of progress or achievement to it if I could have recieved the same reward on 2 minutes, if I had bothered waypointing to Maw.

Don’t forget the loud people not always represent the majority. But don’t get me wrong, I welcome that they listen to the community. But this patch were over the edge in my opinion. I can live with things not being as before where you would get a rare ~half the time, but it certainly is some change from 50% chance for a rare to 100% + 50% for an additional rare, if not an exotic. I might have been lucky, but I’d guess around 1½ rare per boss at the moment. That’s a 200% increase in drops.
I’m not complaining how “good” it has become because I don’t feel that spending 5 minutes (for example Maw event) to earn 1½ rare isn’t good in my opinion. It is too much.

-Ectoplasm lowering – in 2 days the price has lowered from high 30’s to high 20’s. Still dropping. Fast.
-Rares dropping in price as well, near same scenario.
-Most beneficial way to generate income now: Farm all bosses on all characters. Nothing else is worth playtime in comparison.
-As opposed to the meaning (as I understood) ArenaNet attempted to get people to play more in the previously dead areas. The only activity is boss farming in a corner of the map.

Is this really what was intended? Pre-patch I was happy whenever I got the occasional rare, which was actually just that – RARE. Now – I’m just hoping for more than one rare. Seriously, WAY too many rares are being generated in the game now. Just for today on 1 character I have looted close to 10 rares from various bosses, + a few on the 1 alt i have. Players with more characters can farm all day long.

Summed up, I feel this was taken away in the patch:
- Any sense of joy from looting a rare item
- Any sense of having accomplished something when the boss goes down (It’s just farm)
- Gameplay. I spent half the day farming. And while I got some serious cash.. Well. It wasn’t really that fun to be honest. (Go do something fun then; Don’t worry I will, but gold is gold)
- Any sense of rare items being valuable; Currently I’m getting rid of them ASAP, underbidding other players, since prices are in free fall. Even sold my ecto yesterday, while the price was still reasonable.

Anyone else feel that a middle ground should be found? While I were quite satisfied yesterday when Maw got me 2 rares and an exotic in one chest, I immediately feltthis was out of hand.

I don’t think “Spotter” gives you +70 precision, only your allies benefit from it. I’d swap it out for “Signet of the Beastmaster” so that you’d gain the benefit from activated signets as well.

Try “Signet of the Wild”, see if you like it better than “Signet of the Hunt”. Even though it has a ridiculously long cooldown (120sec), once activated, it provides 12 seconds of 25%+ attack and stability. Whereas activating “Signet of the Hunt” only boosts the next single attack by 50%.

Search and Rescue… Hate it, even in dungeons. 85 seconds cooldown for a single slow res is not viable. You have only 5 BM, your pets will aggro mobs, it might die before it can res the player.

Red Moa for bonus 20% crit rate and wolf for fear (used to interrupt opponent heals, or survivability) are also a great combo for berserker builds. Keep them around you since they won’t be able to damage/survive with only 5BM. This will also allow more 2sec “Quickening Zepher” from pet swaps if they don’t die. So you won’t need “Pet Prowess” (+30% pet crit damage), you could instead go for “Primal reflex” (for more dodge).

Point taken on spotter. Ill stick with Signet of the Hunt, simply because.. Well.. 25% movespeed. But in dungeons, It’s Search and Rescue, and I really find that it IS worth, but that’s just preference i guess. I’ll stick to it anyways, and maybe use the signet on good runs where people dont go down. I use bears at the moment for PvE, they usually survive. And I can use F3 Otherwise I wouldn’t have the 2 sec quickness. Gonna try Primal Reflexes as well, it does happen i have to dodge a lot. Thanks for all your input!

Just joining the thread, seeing someone who actually knows the ranger in most aspects. Ain’t that nice. I don’t wish for a debunk, I’m main ranger myself (since beta) and very happy with the ranger. But I always stick to one build that I really like. If you wouldn’t mind I would love to hear if there are any alternatives you can recommend.

I 100% want a glass cannon build like the one I run, but you might have an alternative. I’d be very interested in hearing what it could be.

My build – Everything is Berserker:

Shortbow(Sigil of Air) | Sword+Warhorn(Sigil of Air, Sigil of Force)

Traits: 30/30/0/5/5
+10% dmg on full endurance
+70 precision to me and allies
Piercing attacks
Chance to cause bleeding on crit
+30% critdamage to pets
-20% cooldown on shortbow skills

Healing skill: Healing Spring(PvE), Heal as One (PvP)
Utility: Quickening Zephyr, Protect Me, Search and Rescue(Dungeons), Signet of the Hunt(Everything else)
Elite: Rampage as One(PvE) or Entangle(PvE, PvP)

Is there ANY way you can produce a build dishing out more damage than this as a ranger? Not considering survivability? It must not include spirits, and I do not want Sharpening Stone as utility skill. I want a ranged and a meelee weapon.

would love to hear ideas This is the build I found to be best for actually everything.

Rangers and the Path 4 (Arah) dilemma.

in Ranger

Treeline.3865

I did the path, I play ranger.

Anyways, the trick is to move the boss all the way into the corner, so people can DPS there without worrying about the sparks. Let 2 people do the sparks (1 on north side for 3 sparks, 1 on south side for 2 sparks). Gather a kittenload of tears in the corner you want to kill her, and let 1 man (that was me) keep throwing tears whenever the 2 DPS’ers are about to get petrified. The one doing sparks on south side can help DPS as well, as long as the person is ready for sparks at all times. Keep your pet on passive. I’m glasscannon and run shortbow, healing spring, quickening Zephyr, Protect Me (Wasn’t really needed, can be changed), “Search And Rescue” to send the pet in if the 2 DPS’ing get downed and Rampage as One for the extra damage. It is mainly a matter of the 2 doing sparks to be able to do it quickly enough though. In any event, did you try post-patch? I think they nerfed the boss.

Lol. Thanks for trying to find good reasons, but he was not at one of those points. At Fractals 31, i know the fight. It is definitely a bug. If he was at the 25% increment he would also be stunned, which is not the case. One of the pictures clearly show him running.
In the other fractal.. I’m standing at 3 different platforms. Does it look like It can not hit me? The same goes for the normal mobs in Archdiviner Fractal – One of them were right in front of me! I get what they try and do with the invulnerability, but it sure isn’t working anywhere near as intended. Furthermore once they find out they can attack you, while you’re trying to find a better spot, you’ll get nuked from behind from time to time.

As a last detail I’m not traited for extra long range.

On an unrelated note I think rangers is getting quite tired of not sharing agony resist with pets around level 20+.. 1 hitting pets with agony, yay.

Another ninja edit: On another unrelated note it would be nice to have “Search and Rescue” fixed soon, so the pet actually can res on uneven ground. If I can die there (without jumping) , my pet should be able to res there.

The ranger is QUITE good in my opinion (All dungeons complete, fractals 31, 100% world completion, quite good in PvP as well)

Dont talk for us as a class. I friggin love ranger. I feel close to OP.
There are a few bugs though:

-Pet res not always working
-No agony resist on pet (cmon anet)
-SB#3 not always working
-And please let us stow our pets permanently.

This actually happen a LOT to me. Just came to find out if anyone else has the issue. I find that my weapon skills always work, but skills 6-0 often don’t go off. Sometimes I sit spamming the keys for near 5 seconds to go off. It is really inconveinant because my character stops attacking from me hitting the skill.

Example; (I play ranger) – I’mm hitting a boss and want to res someone using “search and rescue”, while still holding my DPS up. I press the key, nothing happens. I press again, nothing. The player is dying, and I really need the skill so I spam the button. My character stops attacking. After 3, 4, 5 seconds the skill finally go off, I can return to DPS’ing, and the player is dead. It happens quite often, and has been going on for a month or two.

Didn’t bother reading the entire thread, but example of horrible RNG was the Lost Shores weekend.

Rewards: 2g-300g (Very few examples of even more with 2 precursor drops).
We all did the same event. Yet some were rewarded 150 times more than most others all due to luck. Some might not be against that, but I when I go show off what I have accomplished, I’d like it to be based on what I managed to do rather than how lucky I’ve been.

Watched. Very fun build, the shatter one. Ridiculous amount of kiting, although it definitely takes practise to execute. And nice damage. But isn’t it suspecible to dodges and evasive maneuvers? Most the damage comes out in very short bursts, although not always easy to dodge. It’s the first time i see the sword/sword combination. While I like the combination, how do you get people with decent skill to ever eat your #2? It has such nice damage, but is also so easy to just run from. I might have to try it out.

Edit; Took a look at your other builds. You are right, i DO prefer build #1. Number 2 comes in as second, but I tend to run alone and focus on single targets. Definitely trying out the build. Only question (you are quite elaborate on the guide) is, does the build work for generel PvE as well? As in open world all-by-myself exploring?

Actually as ranger I’m more used to using everything available to avoid hits. That being of course dodge rolls, Shortbow #3 (dodge backwards), Shortbow #4 for cripple, Shortbow #5 for 1 sec daze, and in PvP utilizing wolf aoe fear & knockdown + dog’s immobilize and knockdown. You’d be amazed how buttery these heartspamming thieves or 100 blades warriors go down ^^ And then there’s Protect Me for emergencies for a 6 sec damage transfer to the pet. Even entangle helps me survive against melees. I feel like my utility is near endless and i always have another trick to stay alive, even if it is switching to sword using #3 for the evading poison attack, just to stay up that second longer. I’ll take a look at your video now, and see how I feel about it. Thanks for the elaborate answers.

Yet another "Looking for mesmer build" thread

in Mesmer

Treeline.3865

But I AM looking for a build. I currently have a level 80 ranger in all exotic/ascended gear, and wow is the mesmer different!

I am looking for both a viable PvE and PvP build. For PvE, damage output and the ability to run dungeons and Fractals is a must later on (For now my mesmer is level 38 though).

Let’s start with PvE, which is the most important part. I see generel love towards berserker gear, running greatsword + sword&focus. I also see a lot of 0/20/20/0/30, although im not sure what to make of it. Now I’d like to end up with something along the lines of my ranger. Hits like a truck, but still able to stay alive due to “protect me” and some evasion. I’m having a hard time reading how a decent mesmer glass cannon is set up tho. I can see the mesmer illusions being the substitute for a tanking pet, but how do I go about it?

PvP wise.. Well. The ranger i play is vulnerable to confusion, but nvm that. Other than confusion builds I rarely get taken down by mesmers in PvP. They are excellent bunkers though. But again, I like going aggressive, so bunkering isn’t me. What are the options for a good mesmer build for 1vs1? (And with agressive I don’t mean the standard thief heartseeker fagget build – I don’t want to be dead if the opponent dodges my first attack ) I figure that GS is still viable for pvp, but i have doubts about the sword and focus which works ok for PvE.

Sooo….
PvE:
- Which weapons are handy for difficult PvE, either alone or in groups?
- Which skills are handy for especially solo PvE?
- What are my traiting options and why?
- Which runes and sigils should I consider?

PvP:
- What is a good 1vs1 build focused on? Example?
- Which weapons?
- Which traits?
- Which sigils and runes?

Hope anyone will answer this massive pile of crap)

It’s ok, the only thing you need for fractals is a lot of DPS and a guardian or two for an effective party (Maybe a thief too). I wouldn’t take a bunker ele with me, sorry.
