Is there any number logic behind using Sigil of Force if over 50% crit?
@xev, I don’t like the Sigil of Rage, mainly because it’s 45cd, but also because I never know when they will pop. It is too unreliable I think.
I do dig bloodlust, but the chance I get downed during a bossfight is high enough that I wouldn’t want it.
Indoles are you sure of your statement? Even if i run with a lot of Crit Damage, netting me over 200% crit damage? I don’t run condition damage, although i will keep running bleed on crit.
(edited by Treeline.3865)
For regular old fashioned PvE Bloodlust is probably your best.
What if we assumed that, especially during Boss Fights, I go down once or twice, especially on higher level Fractals?
Edit; Actually, now that I think of it I wouldn’t like to risk losing the Sigil bonus during bossfights, as bossfights often is where every bit matters. 5 sigils left
(edited by Treeline.3865)
For a Berserker ranger with all things statted in Power, Precision, Crit Damage, which Sigil will net me the most damage on a Shortbow (0.52s/attack)?
Sigil of Force + 5% damage.
Sigil of Air (5s cd) 30% chance to cause a lightning strike on a critical hit.
Sigil of Strength (1 s cd) 30% chance to apply might for 10s on critical hit.

Well the hats are a possible drop from the same boxes that give the minis and Foostivoo. Maybe while trying to obtain the three minis after making Foostivoo they got another Foostivoo?
I’d say highly unlikely, but it is possible I guess. Just look at Wiki how many Foostivoos dropped. I can add 60 chests with no Foostivoo q:
Edit: The obvious solution still is to make the stuff tradeable. And Anet knows it if they read the forum.
please inform me why it is “highly unlikely” i bought 10 boxes the other day and i got 2 hats out of it and even if fistivoo cant be acuired through the box it can be droped from wintersday boxes and that i can agree with that its highly unlikely unless ofcourse he was trying to get the unbreable bell witch only drop from those wintersday boxes at witch case he would open 1000s of boxes. so i dont thin its unlikely someone will end up with more than 2 of the same thing after this event that is acc bound. but that’s just me.
Pure statistics. Also, they are not available through “wintersday boxes”. It is however unlikely that he got a Foostivoo drop in the same 10 chest-batch that he also got his last mini, as Foostivoo drops very rarely. It is an unlikely drop, if you may. That’s what i tried to say
I dig “Fistivoo”….. :i
- How easy/hard do you find it to get the new minis? (Mystery Box & Giant Wintersday Gift droprate)
Mystery Box: easy
Giant wintersday: impossible
- Are you satisfied with the given options to get the minipets?
Yes
- Have you bought/Will you buy any Mystery Boxes from the gemstore this Wintersday?
Yes
- Would you have bought the minipets from the gemstore if you were able to buy them? (No random drop from chest – You simply buy the minipet you want.)
Yes
I ended the questionaire sorry – Also after repeadetly asking Anet to confirm or deny that Wiki was correct, that the mini dropped from the Wintersday gifts, they finally corrected the wiki. The gifts does not drop Foostivoo
Meta events not happening. Stuck on “The Lionguard are preparing to attack Laughing Gull Island and Taidha Covington.”
- Northern Shiverpeaks.
The “Just one more try…” thought is what makes gambling so effective. Especially if you won just a teeny bit beforehand.
If you have a lot of self control you could set a hard limit (like say, $50) and whether or win or lose, walk away with whatever you end up with. Although I suppose that kind of thing is easier with money and not cosmetic things that probably appeal to you.
And if Anet wanted to “take care” of their players they could easily make a workaround for this to happen, so that for example, every chest that does not contain a mini, contains a token. 10 tokens (or whatever) then is exchangeable for any mini (Not Foostivoo of course, but then let him be available for 40 tokens)
With your CPU, you might want to check this before upgrading anything.

I came to find out if “The Campaign Against Taidha Covington” is bugged, but no info available I’ll agree I tab in a lot when I’m looking for answers, but I also just look at forums randomly. I think nearly all players who cared went to forums on the 200 cogs. That was odd. And that’s when i thought that’s it, and went to buy the 3 last minis. Half an hour later.. New mail… Anet… -.-
Right you are. A lot of legit threads gets locked for ilegitimate reasons. But even stating that.. Well if a mod reads a post like this one, I already have an infraction on me, as it is not allowed to complain about modding.
And this Preyar is why ArenaNet’s way of RNG is distasteful to say the least. It lures you in. You know the risk, but you also know what you can get. You didn’t like the idea to begin with, but just 1 more. I’m not saying it’s not your own fault, it is in every way. But it is ArenaNet who hosts the RNG. And I am disgusted with them, for doing it.
I’m not going to say you are wrong, but I have my doubts. I mainly come here to see what’s hot, what’s bugged and what I should pay attention to. While there are a lot of negative feedback threads, you will also see a lot of these threads being made by the same people. (No such thing as a disappointed player). But again, I wouldn’t take the tiny research as representable myself.
Well I was more getting at if you are enjoying the game you would be spending most of your free time in the game, instead of posting on these forums. Most people wouldn’t have a real reason to come here unless something goes wrong or they have a question/suggestion and depending on when they browse, topics (such as your questionnaire) may have already fallen off the first page and will not be on their radar.
That is not neccesarily the case. But I don’t have anything to back it up, so it would be a discussion with no ground. I’m here at the moment though, because I’m waiting for an event chain
But to be honest, i will be cold and harsh and say, It might be his own fault – He shouldn’t buy more than 10 chests at a time. If he really lucked out and got 2 rare minis + 2 regular minis from 10 chests, I’d say.. Well.. You’re still one lucky guy, and I agree they should be tradeable, but that’s RNG for you. Nothing to do about that, except make more threads about how RNG is bad. He would have my support q:
What if there were no bugs in this game?
Did anyone ever see a chest during previous events? I didn’t, even though it was in prevoius patch notes too. Don’t remember which events tho.
Well the hats are a possible drop from the same boxes that give the minis and Foostivoo. Maybe while trying to obtain the three minis after making Foostivoo they got another Foostivoo?

Even though i already spent 35$ + a whole lot of ingame gold + the 1100 gems i had, and got all my minis, I support this option. Add the kitten trio. Stop being greedy. Just because I’m idiot enough to buy them, does not mean you as a company should take advantage of it. Just because I buy the product, doesn’t mean I’m satisfied with it.
It kind of makes sense though, if you didn’t have that much of an issue or complaint there is no real reason to be posting a lot on the forums.
I’m not going to say you are wrong, but I have my doubts. I mainly come here to see what’s hot, what’s bugged and what I should pay attention to. Ok, i’ll ask what people are thinking: Why on earth do you have these items, especially 2 Foostivoo’s?
I can confirm this, although it only happened once.
As a ranger using a shortbow, I can confirm this happens too often.
I’m just here to confirm that this event is also bugged on Northern Shiverpeaks. Waited for 4 hours.
I have to agree with OP. I feel cheated too. While i certainly appreciate them giving out more than promised, they really need to start communicating better. And that has been the case for a loooong time.
still 50 cogs short to make my 4th mini, so the 200 i have are useless
Silver lining: Worth 2s at merchant
Patience is a virtue.
Learn from your mistake to rush and buy things long before the event is was over. There is no harm in buying gems and waiting BTW but there is no need to buy the items on the gem store ASAP.
That is not a fair statement. I litterally bought the last 3 minis an hour ago, as we were in the final stage of the Wintersday Event. There was no indication they could pull something like this on us, no communication on their side that this could happen.
Several threads have been posted about it, and yes it seems about accurate. I opened 60 chests in order to get the 3 minis + 3 minis to craft Foostivoo. And yes. I feel like something penetrated me in a way it shouldn’t.
Edit: Don’t look at the %’s at the bottom though! Every gift hands you a few presents PLUS an additional items (Most often tonics) and both mortars and tonics comes in 2 at a time.
(edited by Treeline.3865)
Ditto. Rushed in and bought whatever mats i could fetch before the prices went nuts.
Ah, nevermind about that. Should state that the glue and stuffing are rare drops from the gifts. I’m not sure if small drops them, but medium-giant definitely do in varying rates from 5 to 25. Nothing drops cogs.
Small ones drop them too. Source: Myself
Can I ask you if you have a source on that?
This is the original post. Enjoy
I’m not good with statistics though. This was my best shot. I study software I like numbers too, as long as it’s 0 and 1’s q:
(edited by Treeline.3865)
Posting for general info.
Using Wiki drop rate statistics:
On average you will get 1 minipet per 13.43 chest. Let’s say 14 chests to be sure.
10 chests are 800 gems. Let’s add the last 4 in at the discounted price too. This equals
1040 gems.
If you are a collector and want all 3 pets, you will probably not get them all with 3120 gems. (1040×3)
Actually the exact chance of that happening is 2/9 (22%).
Buying an additional minipet will make the total cost 4160 gems and give a 12/27 (44.4%) chance of getting all 3 minipets.
This generelly means that most people (55.6%) will need to pay at least 5200 gems to get all 3 minipets.
The most generous price for 4000 gems is 50$ – That is 80 gems a dollar.
Using this, 5200 gems will cost 65$.
__________________________________________________________________
Note: Some margin errors expected. Remember recorded data only gives approximate drop rates.
Note: Remember we rounded up half a chest in the beginning. You might be able to save 100 gems somewhere.
The entire post is quoted towards the top of the thread if you want to see it. Already confirmed that the data is faulty though, so no need to try any further
This. As soon as i saw all the cogs, i was like WHAT THE _!
Then I rushed to the TP and bought all the stuffing I could get. Might make a bit up for the 350 gems wasted.
Think it’s possible to get a refund?
Do the minipets still drop, or was it limited to the weekend?
I’m kitten proud of this collection, it is my pride and glory! But well.. Look at my collection. It’s hard to get the last one, and price seems to rise faster than I earn gold. Is it still lootable?
Like above, there’s no way to get more cogs. As for glue, you have to buy it from the TP, like stuffing.
Actually it is a very rare drop from Wintersday Gifts too. Comes in batches of.. 25 or 50. Don’t remember which.
This was to fix a bug. You won’t get another 250 cogs unfortunately. You should end up with 200 spare cogs.
Edit: To answer your question – By buying the last 3 in the gemstore. Sorry.
Hi everyone,
The statistics reported on the wiki pages for the Wintersday Mystery Box drop rates are incorrect, due to the method being used for calculating them. Some of our item packages use more than one loot table to determine what you get from opening them. Whenever you open a Wintersday Mystery Box, it randomly drops items selected from 2 tables, each having specific items and their own drop rates.
We’ve seen people mention the low drop rates of Foostivoo from Wintersday Mystery Box and would like to remind people that the primary way to obtain this miniature is from the Mystic Forge, by combining other minis (wiki link).
Thank you.
Wow. This was over expectation, and actually answered another thread of mine, asking about the Foostivoo drop. Thanks for clarifying! It’s really nice to see some official response. Thought you had gone on holiday.
Edit: Removed original post due to not knowing the loot tables. Anyone who feels like it are welcome to continue the research. Also my original post is quoted a few times to anyone who wish to see it.
(edited by Treeline.3865)
Wow. Sorry about those drops man. And thank you for posting this. Can i get a second to source this? Do they always drop in 2’s?
close the cp , pull the stick out of your kitten
Hello OP,
Thanks for the post if you read this there is a slight error in your otherwise awesome calculations. I too have been watching the wiki drop rate page. One thing to note when you get a tonic or the mortars, these will almost always come in groups of 2. So those items have inflated numbers on the drop rate page. If you halve the mortar and tonic numbers the chance of getting a pet is roughly 11% instead of the 7% you used.
I’d guess that the pets are more likely set to a 10% drop rate. If I understand your calculations correctly, this would adjust the total to 4000 gems or $50. Which is still a lot to be sure
That actually changes the numbers! Thank you for bringing this up. I did not know of this, as that info was not on the wiki. Do they always come in batches of 2? Or just sometimes? If we don’t know how often they come 2 at a time, I will have to take the entire thing down, as the data will be completely invalid.
Sigh. The point of the thread. ANet didnt have to create an event. They could have just put everything on the gem store.
They could, yes. But once again, there would only be half the players around to buy these items. The number of play hours double when these events happen. If the chests and whatnot aren’t part of a bigger event, they won’t sell as much. It’s a business. It’s like Casinoes telling people they can come gamble, and the first 20$ is on the house. It only pans out because it lures people in, and most people spend more than the first 20$. It is pure business. They do have to create events.
They did it for you, for me, for the whole community. Lets do something cool for the community. I could see the developers sitting there, coming up with ideas, what would make us laugh, what the community as a whole would enjoy. Oh how i would have loved to be in those meetings. That is a selfless act.
And that is an opinion right there. I can see them too. And I’m sure they are living their dream – Designer on a major MMO. I drool. And if I was in that chair, I would try to please my community too. That doesn’t make me selfless. It is a job. You make content that the community enjoy, or you don’t have a community. And then you have no income. You don’t see any MMO’s doing very well without ever patching their game up with new things.
Selfless (adj): Having, exhibiting, or motivated by no concern for oneself
You really think the drive is selfless goodness?
What you fail to see is how complex it is to create these events. Its not like playing with legos. What you fail to see are those employees that worked overtime, missed dinners with their families, time with their children, the list is endless. You know why? To bring YOU a fun event. That is a selfless act.
That sure is a leap right there, I’d like to see some source on ArenaNets working hours to accept that statement (Good luck!). Once again though it depends on motivation. If they worked overtime etc etc to recieve a huge end-of-the-year cash in, it is not selfless. And they ARE getting a huge cash in.
Is it that hard for you to take a moment and say “Hey, thank you. I appreciate it.”
No, it is not. I did it at Halloween. I loved the hide and seek game. Incredibly fun. But right now I have concerns. If they solve the concerns, I’ll write them a “thank you for listening to the community” thread. It’s quite logical really. I simply write what is on my mind.
Maybe with the money you are spending on gems to get all your minis, take what you have left of your real life funds and donate it to a charity. There are those at this time of year who have nothing, not even a bed to sleep in. And all you can do is rant on a virtual vanity toy. Perspective my friend.
I like this. It’s a nice way to avoid calling me self-entitled. Completely off topic, but nevertheless quite fun.
If you still have the content of your post hidden somewhere, I’d like to give it a read (Send it by PM). I often find that a lot of good threads are the one to get infracted and removed.
Inneffective layout is having to take half you fingers from the basic movement buttons to reach skills 7-0 and F1-F4. Doing that and still moving seamlessly around is imposible, unless you play a non-GW2 MMO that doesn’t allow/require movement when casting skills. This mouse improves my experience by a lot!
These particullar “Piano-simulation” mini games however asume that I have all my skill button in a straight line and I haven’t re-aranged them in some way as the game options allows me to. The only advantage there is in having them in 1-0 keys is being able to press 2 at the same time, and that is not required with the exception of this particular mini game.
Fair point, I’ll eat that one
Still, check your mouse software (May be on a cd, otherwise google it). I bet a fancy mouse like that is programmable. Most semi high end mice nowadays is programmable. Heck, my keyboard “0” is also assigned to trigger when clicking the mouse wheel.
Then, take your complaint about the mini pet out of my appreciation thread This thread was not started so people can chime in and add their 2cents complaining. Its for those that appreciate what was given.
I will say this and it is directed at you Treeline- i would hate to be the person who gives you a Christmas present and all you felt was cheated or disappointed.
For those that are concerned come together as a community. Write a letter, have it signed by those who are concerned and keep it in one thread. Voicing your concern all over the place doesn’t help your argument or stance. It makes you look like spoiled self-entitled brats.
The Rolling Stones – You Can’t Always Get What You Want. Listen to it sometime
Again, Merry Christmas.
It’s a deal! The christmas present is not a fair comparison. A Christmas present is (or should be) a selfless act. The giver does not neccessarily recieve anything in return. For my style of play, ArenaNet is asking a whole lot in return. I’m split in the last part you wrote, but I’ll keep the arguments for now.
- If you remove/rephrase the first 7 lines and the last 4 (Excluding the /signed line ofc) I’ll remove all my posts and be out of here
- Edit: Including posts discussing with others if you want.
(edited by Treeline.3865)
Really? You think that pets that provide no in-game advantage over other players and do not divide playerbase between those that pay and those that don’t, is just as bad as weapons and armor that provide an in-game advantage and divide the playerbase between those that pay and those that don’t?
Okay then.
Now that isn’t entirely what I said. For me – Yes you are correct. I don’t care much for PvE content, just as a lot of players don’t care for minipets. For 99% of the community – No. In that case it is much worse because they would see their way of playing being much much harder, if they do not want to spend a lot of money to keep playing the way they used to.
It just seems like from your opening post you are complaining about the RNG.
I do, in every other part of the forum But if you state which part seems like complaining I’ll gladly change it. The original post was only meant to be informative.
I’ve opened 20 and got like 7 minis…
And congratulations Mr. Joe. Please state your point?
Why would you complain about not getting them and spend more money to get them. You take the chance to get them. Arenanet never said open 20 boxes and get a mini. So why say oh collectors have to spend so much. If you want the minis because your a collector don’t complain about the cash spent. Because I see a lot more money wasters up the road.
You are completely running off tracks here. Either I’m not the person you think I am, or you are not reading anything. I did not once complain in this thread, nor did I mention opening any boxes. I refrained from buying any because I don’t like RNG. I have simply offered people an average cost for the minipets. I’m not sure what you are trying to achieve here.
I’ve opened 20 and got like 7 minis…
