There isn’t a bug with the updraft, not to my knowledge. I beat the fight after three attempts. Sometimes I think the hitbox is to small, sometimes I think I missed it.
Wow, so says the “PvE specialist”. Go dig around there are quite a few lengthy threads on the various bugs in the personal story Mordy fight. Gliders not opening, mordy bugging out. Some of us have had 4 consecutive trys that have bugged or had issues with their gliders not opening properly. the server side glider problem was even explained by a dev either here, reddit or on one of the twitch videos. That fight is a buggy mess, exacerbated by the “penalty box” I don’t even bother trying to do it anymore, just get to the end of the story and leave my toons at that stage. I doubt Anet will ever fix it.
um there are 9 keeps in the bls that are prolly deserted, surely you can flip 1.
Right? Seriously easy peasy stuff. OMG can’t stay on BL long enough to flip T1 keep… EBG too stronk….
Dragonball is total junk. 2 out of the 15 games I played last night were even remotely close, the rest of which I was mostly on the losing teams where the losing team usually scored less than 150 points. It’s pretty obvious there is a way to either stack a winning team or hack wins.
pre-hot it did take quite some time to fully upgrade objectives and not to mention upgrades basically stalling for hours because supplies never made it to objectives..
Yep. We should be comparing things to Pre-HoT upgrades. With that in mind, the dolyak numbers aren’t all that bad, I remember it took really work and a long time to get anything to T3.
edit… I am gonna give them the benefit of the doubt, but also doubt anything will be done about the guild mission issue any time soon.
(edited by Tspatula.9086)
Yes, bring back Alpine map.
You can go to the WvW UI and hit the “Leave the Mists” button I believe.
I think that was fixed with today’s patch
I’ve played at least 15 dragonball matches won 4, no tokens… Is that working as intended? Also I went 0 for 8 in dragonball… DANG that is worse that random. I’m not great at it, but dont just stand there and die either…

Maybe something has changed in the past year with staff then. I’ve gone full glass on my necro before and only used staff for tagging. I guess I’ll have to check it out again with the reaper build.
If you are not roaming, then staff has always been the go to weapon for Power backline necro. Marks are very effective soft cc and ranged damage when compounded with staff 1. No one is going to 1v1 melee with a staff, but 1v1s are really more suited to PvP, of course there are plenty of people who want to take advantage of highly specialized combinations of builds, weapons, armor, foods, and utilities to allow them unique advantages in WvW when dueling, but I prefer a more level playing fields for that sort of thing…
I believe at the end of the last Guild chat it was said that this will happen.
Not that I heard…. (I could be wrong, but I kinda think that someone would have posted in these forums about it if that was the case)
If there’s one thing I’d fault HoT on it’s the rewards. I really do think they should settle on a standard of one or two complete armor sets per map and use that standard for all future expansions/LS additions. There are far too many outfits far too frequently and far too few armor pieces added with HoT.
Also, the absolutely garbage drop rate of ANYTHING good in favor of map currencies. I may be wrong, but it seems like now there really is nothing to be had of any real value from drops or chests, just more greens and blues to salvage. Meaning, you either grind for specific items (of which there are almost NONE in all of HoT that I am interested in) or fill up your wallet with endless quantities of each map currency… This is what makes re-running the HoT maps anymore than I already have done (all professions to full elite spec) rather unappealing….
The disaster that is Saturday reset night is pretty clear now. So can we please go back to Fridays.
Maybe I simply don’t play enough? Maybe my skewed perception of wvw because when I log in its with a guild full of people ready to play together and a leader that knows his kitten BUTTTTTT!!!!! I really see nothing wrong with the new border lands. The new guild abilities are strong and maybe border line OP at some points, but overall these are not easy abilities to achieve and work aside, the mats involved truly “take a village” to achieve at an impressive pace. . The biggest solo farmer couldn’t do it without the help of his fellow homies (guildies) .
It kinda feels like you lazy kittens don’t want to learn something new. New Map new elite abilities new guild abilities new dumb dumb dumb “meta” your just learning hard. cursing and screaming at every lesson saying how terrible this is. until you learn it. succeed in it and inventively love it.
So please. My new generation of secretly try hards do me a favor. Try a little fliipping harder. This is a great game. No pvp/wvw/rvr base or side based mmo can touch it.
think im crazy? think of the newly introduced rev. and how gross and op he was when he first hit the scene. and how much easier rev’s slowly became the more you played and LEARNED about it. admittedly still a grossly op char. but i think you understand what im trying to say. maybe?
PvF comes to the official forums!! Well played sir! Now the real game begins! Ok let me see if I understand this PvF stuff.. here we go:
Get rekt PvE newb and go back to EtoM where you were born. The new BLs are no fite maps. (I have to be careful cuz there are actual moderators in this forum, so I’m sticking with PvFlite)
I get the feel given the recent list of changes and statements made by ANet is they really are scrambling to make WvW better. My concern is that the damage is done and a lot of players have left for other pastures never to return.
Yep. At first they probably figured the drop in WvW participation was people playing HoT, but that initial “excitement” should be over. The fact that the new BLs are empty and EBG is qued in tiers where there are still players must also be a surprise for them… But I really don’t think Mike O’Brien and the upper management consider WvW to be all that important, so as long as they throw something at it (ie the borderlands) that is enough.
Pretty much a non event. Ok Banners and airstrike getting the nerf they deserve, but they really shouldn’t exist in the first place. And not one friggin word about the almighty overhaul…. ded gaem.
Most likely we will see a small open guild event a few days before the final release similar to the one they gave for the new BL maps. They won’t change anything, or even have time to. Even though many won’t like the changes they will advertise it everywhere as if is the best thing since sliced bread. So yea, nothing to see here.
P.S. I would love to be pleasantly surprised but after 3 years of the devs thinking they know what we want, I am not hopeful.
Pretty much my take on it as well…. I tried to “like” the new BL but it such friggin annoying maze within a maze. Whoever thought that the jumping walls combined with the crippling beacons was going to be fun…. I just can’t imagine… There isn’t a single dev working on WvW that has even a remote idea of how it works for those of us who actually spend a significant amount of time playing the game mode, and they really couldn’t care less…
I say thanks but no thanks for the HYPE train, the changes coming on the 25th were literally the LEAST they could do. There is not a single bit of actual coding required for ANY of it. It’s all just variable changes, PPK is already done, let’s see the rally mechanism…. we change the 5 in the code to 1. No rezzing in combat, maybe a line of code but I doubt it. Cata supply costs, again just a single number change, and it’s pretty clear they are desperately trying to appease roamers with that one… everything coming on the 25th has the “OMG what can we do RIGHT NOW with no effort” feel. Makes me think all this “over a year in the making” overhaul is really, “well, we were THINKING about making a change over a year ago, doesn’t that count?” gggrrrrr
Pretty much a non event. Ok Banners and airstrike getting the nerf they deserve, but they really shouldn’t exist in the first place. And not one friggin word about the almighty overhaul…. ded gaem.
Seriously, an event that blasts all the doors of the enemy structures on the map needs to be made easier and faster to accomplish. That sure is an important WvW priority balance…. RIP WvW
Clearly my match winners and losers are predetermined by the matchmaking algorythm, how do I learn to play the matchmaker for a win?
It’s definitely bugged. You know there is a basic problem with the coding when EVERY TIME YOU KILL Mordremoth, there is a long pause where either, you get the you killed him cut scene, or you get the laugh and get booted to a new map. Don’t expect a fix anytime soon, a lot of Devs have left Anet, that is a lot of dangling code that the new Devs have to sort through to figure out what is happening… The core code of this game is a mess, which is often what happens when the original coders leave and new ones take over… Same for all MMOs but GW2 does seem to be particularly buggy at this point…
It’s not just the Banners, Airship defense is broken also. This must be how Mordrem feel when players pelt them with the airships.
One has to wonder if these things and the new map are designed to push everyone to the EtoM model -megaserver with constant karma trains… I am starting to think the new borderlands were designed specifically to push PPT and eliminate a lot of the fighting….

It was a bandaid fix to a problem where the event would stall.
What people need to remember is to keep doing events until the cutscene.
(Laggy forums today)
Ok, I get that, but there was 50% ley energy when mordy’s laugh came on and everyone was killed. There was nothing that should have caused the event to fail… I understand if you let the ley energy go to zero before the cut scene then things can fail, but that wasn’t the case here. The Anet story tech must be really weak, so many instances of things not advancing. I got stuck in Buried Insight twice before I found out if you don’t kill the golem before Taimi can respond to it, she paths to it and then returns to the place were she is supposed to continue into the control room, and just sits there. Ridiculous.

How can Anet release content with this many critical bugs? We run a very smooth DS meta, kill modremoth (0% health) with 50% Ley energy left, wait for cut scene…. WAMMO!! Mordremoth wins!! I get kicked to a new map. Even when that final fight is working, the end is always bugged in some way or another. When Mord dies, the cut scene should start, but instead, everytime I have done it (>10) there is the 1 or 2 minute pause where nothing is happening before the cut scene. And Anet is working on the NEXT expansion while this one barely even works properly at ANY level. Don’t get me started about the storyline bugs, or the achievement bugs….
Wow, SO MANY BUGS in the storyline. This is still not fixed. Still a problem. Such terrible coding, this expansion is really worth the money. I love bugs, I love wasting hours of my time on bugs.
Not a single full server in NA… not one. There aren’t even enough bandwagon guilds around anymore to even lock out a single one… I know in T4 it’s pretty common to have a cue on EBG and completely empty borderlands. This is not a “problem”, it’s not a temporary “low point”. This is the real death of the game mode… Which the new raid aside, is the ONLY end game content in GW2. Now, I am not including our wonderful Esports… I guess that can be considered end game content.. not for me, but…
I am just shocked that Anet continues with a dreadfully failed development strategy for WvW in light of how catastrophically they have failed… Well at this point, I think they might consider just pulling the new BLs all together and just leave EBG. Even T4 doesn’t have enough people playing WvW to support much more than a single map…
Because in “my story” ANET is deathly afraid that the commander would never have bothered to run a public tag in the first place if they already had the majority of their guild following the tag already. They are afraid that WvW will turn into Maps where you have giant Guild blobs running around unseen by the lowly pugs whose only wish is to enjoy part of what makes wvw so much fun.
Those servers will die I know of 2 servers that its essentially what happened to them. By necessity servers have to have some commanders running public
Exactly. But sadly so many “guildies” posting here seem to come across with the attitude that well… “that’s someone elses problem”.
What guilds are you all in? What servers do you play on? Most guilds need to recruit players, the primary way to do so is running open raids. Every server I have played on have pugmanders on most maps or at least EBG and a BL. The idea that closed raiding guilds make up the entire population in WvW is absurd.
The point is its “worlds vs worlds” not “my guild should be catered to”. It’s correct in that they intend “zerg” fighting. That’s the game. Use Ctrl-T if your gunna be anti-WvW.
Edit: Want a good clean PvF here no name calling.
There is a dedicated PvF forum, this is not the place. It’s pretty obvious you know little about actual WvW, and very clear that you know nothing about what “they” intend. Posting this kind of comment really doesn’t make you relevant to the discussion nor the issues at hand.
You all realize that anet devs DON’T read this right? its not like they to respond to anyone
Fixed that for ya…
I believe I have finally resigned myself to accepting that whatever the “Overhaul” is, when it arrives it will not be something that saves the game mode for me personally. The long lag time in development, the Anet collect some info, hide in an closet for 2 years, then release content has been repeatedly essentially destroying the game mode I like and want to play in WvW. I think this post sort of inadvertently encapsulates why I feel that way.
We’ve avoided adding this feature because we don’t believe it would be healthy for WvW. While we can appreciate why some players would want a feature like this, lots of other players only engage in WvW when, upon entering a WvW map, immediately see a commander icon to follow. We try and avoid adding features that can be used to intentionally exclude other players.
On the surface, it’s very reasonable. But I think for anyone in a WvW oriented guild, who has spent time playing WvW over the last few years, the fundamental lack of understanding of how WvW is played is pretty clear. I don’t fault Tyler for this perspective, we already know from the “Adopt a dev” program that none of the “dev team” sees WvW as their primary game mode (Mike O’Brien’s comments not withstanding). The idea that a “guild or squad only” visible commander tags would actually be “unhealthy” for the game mode, when a huge percentage of guilds have essentially doing just that by going tagless seems to painfully highlight just how little Anet understands about the health of WvW or how a thriving competitive server (are there any these days?) operates.
GW2 is PvE first and foremost. Every “upgrade” we have gotten has been created from a PvE perspective. If you thought over the last year that the few threads started by John Corpening represented a shift in the way the devs see WvW, I would suggest that Tyler’s comment shows otherwise. The PvE perspective is stronlgy in place. Buckle your seatbelts I believe more turbulence is on the horizon….

And from on high, the almighty Anet has spoken:
Thou shall covet thy neighbors legendary
Thou shall PvE for it is good, and we sayeth so
Thou shall buyeth gems in thy gemstore shoppe
Thou shall giveth thy gold for the holy guild hall
Thou shalt NOT play thy way in WvW.
…..lest thee be smited.
Edited to add PvE
(edited by Tspatula.9086)
TL;DR- Anet messed up.
RIP WvW…………..
Oh yeah, I forgot about Guild rip-off grind-o-matic-gold sink Halls. that too….
Anet appears fairly determined to tell us how we should play, without regard for how we actually play. Lots of very bad decisions as I remember:
1. EtoM map cue “solution”
2. Free transfers disaster
3. Tournament stacking
4. Zero kittens given about population and match-ups issues
5. Stability changes unbalanced
6. No tweaking of stab changes bringing on the Pirate ship meta
7. New elite specs -game breaking exacerbated by #5
8. EotM version 2.0 now with dinosaurs, I mean the new BLs (EBG now always cued blobfest)
9. Moved reset to Saturday night
On the plus side(all minor tweaks, nothing significant):
1. Siege labeled and footprint better
2. Squad UI
3. maybe a few other things I can’t remember off-hand
4. PPK, Yak requirement for structure upgrade, 1 kill = 1 rally, guild catapult supply reduced (coming on the 26th… literally IMO the LEAST they could possibly do)
Why you should be concerned:
1. WvW Major Overhaul…. coming sometime this year, unlikely before the summer. One can’t look at the massive failure of EtoM(of course it was actually a success for PvE players, quite a success) for the WvW community and not see that blindness manifest even worse in the new BLs. If it’s true that the WMO has been in development for over a year, then the same mindset that created the BLs is also at work on that. You can be certain that by the time we hear anything, the basic structure will be set in stone. For this reason, I am personally, very nervous about the WMO. It’s bad enough that we have at minimum 6 months before it drops given how quickly WvW is deteriorating, but the evidence points to it being yet another knife in the coffin, not the resurrection of WvW….
(edited by Tspatula.9086)
Agree completely. These banners are have no place in WvW, along with a lot of the design “features” built into the new boarderlands. At first, I thought the new BLs were OK, I just needed to learn them. Well, I have learned enough and I hate them….

Kolin : Guys, WvW isn’t optimal, we need to overhaul it.
Johann C: Guys? Kolin it’s just me here…
Kolin: Oh! Well what do we have on the overhaul so far?
Johann C: Well.. you just mentioned it, so not much. Oh, Meike O moved Devohn from WvW to his Quaggon!, the Quaggan Dragon expansion pack, Heart of Nice Teeth dev team.
Kolin: Well, get on it!!
Johann C: OK, I’ll gather some info from the forums…
(Late 2015)
Kolin: Hey Johann! How’s the overhaul coming. I just announced we’ve been working on it for over a year!
Johann C : Oh.. uh well… Meike O temporarily moved me to the Quaggon! Expansion. I am in charge of underwater mounts…. Speaking of which, where would you put the saddle on a jellyfish, I think right on top, but it could be like a cradle in the tentacles?….
Kolin: Oh, definitely in the tentacles. But what about the overhaul?
Johann C: oh there is huge list of great ideas from the forum threads I started, and then there are a ton more in the CDIs
Kolin: Perfect! Have Ghaile pick 3 or 4 super easy ones and have her get some feedback on them

Episode 2 Anet Strikes Back
Kolin: Alrighty Johann!! We have our BIG 2106 overview post comming up soon!! So, gimmie the juicy deets on the amazing WvW overhaul so I can tell all the player about how great it is!!!
Johann C. : Look Kolin, I am busy. It turns out that the entire tenticle idea for the Jellyfish mounts might have to be scrapped after I and my entire team has spent the last 3 months working on only that!!
Kolin: WHAT?!!! I thought that was done.
Johann C. Right?!!! Me too, It works great on my laptop dev server instance perfectly. So cool, you ride in the tenticles like the guys that hang of that space ship in Chronicles of Ridkitten.
Kolin: Oh yeah!! Vin Diesel… man he is cool. So.. what is the problem?
Johann C. : Well on the test server, as soon as anyone gets into the Jellyfish mount saddle, it disables the #1 skill server wide!! It’s a disaster, we have no idea how this is happening, and most of our testers rage quit after sitting in front of their computers clicking the #1 skill repeatedly with nothing happening….
Kolin: That’s insane, how can an underwater mount affect the entire playerbase of a server?
Johann C. That’s just it Kolin…. WE JUST DON’T KNOW! The problem is Meike O. LOVES the Jellyfish mount and won’t give it up. I told him there are a lot of players who only use the #1 skill, this is a problem. He said, and I quote, “Look they are the minority, most GW2 players use other skills in addition to the #1 skill. The vast majority of our players use many of the other skills, almost no one only uses the #1 skill.:” He told me the Jellyfish mounts are going into release, period. Even if it breaks the #1 skill…
Kolin: Well, he’s the CEO. I think we just have to trust his judgement on this… So how much have we gotten done on the BIG WvW Overhaul 2016!!!
Johann C. : Ask Ghaile, I put her in charge of WvW development until we can get Quaggon!! The Quaggan Dragon Expansion going….
Kolin: Hey Ghaile, How’s the overhaul coming. I just announced we’ve been working on it for over a year!
Ghaile: Hey Kolin, look I am kinda busy… Meike O. wants the forums to have a “certain tone” and honestly that is a full time job itself… I posted about those easy… well, they are actually just about 5 min coding each, so they aren’t really that big a deal…
Kolin: Look Ghaile, I NEED SOMETHING HERE. I already said we’ve been working for over a year on an overhaul.
Ghaile: Well, that thread I posted has a lot of feedback, but honesty who has time to read all that stuff…
Kolin: OK OK FINE. I got this. Just make sure all the things you mentioned get into the January 26 update. So, what else? There must be something else?
Ghaile: Well, I am pretty sure that Meike O. wants the jellyfish mounts to be usable in WvW, that’s certainly an exciting development for the game mode…
(Stay tuned for Episode 3)
If I had to guess, it would probably involving merging servers or changing/removing transfer fees, or just allowing free transfers every x amount of time, like before. Making wvw a megaserver system would completely wreck the entire concept and ruin it for many people.
Uh no. If that was the “BIG” solution it would already be done.

Well, WvW may be a priority with some people at Anet, or at least some people care about it as a game mode, but so far it appears to me as priorities get moved up the decision making chain, priorities are getting either stacked on top of WvW, or WvW is being “temporarily” side tracked. If we really take an unbiased look at the current state of the game, nearly all aspects could be considered to be in serious need of attention in one way or another. It’s not hard to imagine right now, that while focusing on WvW after the release of HoT was going to be a priority, you don’t start renovating the bathroom when the livingroom and bedrooms are on fire… Which I still contend, the responsibility for that lies at the feet of Mike O’Brien and upper management, not the devs in the trenches cranking out code, and generating ideas….
So the small changes in the Holiday Sneak Peak are due in the next update or with the WvW Overhaul? When is the WvW Overhaul released anyway?
Not in the next update, at some indeterminate point in the future. I would guess that thee changes if they go ahead will come before the actual overhaul. At this point I think all the proposed changes have been received 100% favourably except for the down state change.
The changes are all trival, none of them requires any real programing, with the minor exception of the Rally mechanism, and that can’t be all that difficult to change from 5 to 1. This is more of the same from Anet, this isn’t a priority, if it was a priority it would have be announced and get released on Tuesday. And if, in fact, it does get released on Tuesday then then should fire their PR team… Zero Kittens given.
Toughness is like damage reduction and can reduce a lot of damage during an encounter. Vitality is a boost to your hitpoints that mitigates a specific amount of damage in an encounter (assuming no healing). Perhaps whoever designed the foods considers toughness to be worth more than vitality on a one-to-one basis?
Well, a quick look at HoT, based on my non-scientific observation is that every aspect of the rewards systems got a major tweak down, and some serious gold sinks were added and other gold sinks like Ascended crafting were made more expensive. Form your own conclusions…
Not that it should matter all that much as the RNG in this game is so low that reducing the drop rate of things by 10 probably has no real observable difference to the individual player. My opinion is that there was a high level decision to pivot towards lower rewards throughout the entire game with the advent of HoT. It certainly feels that way to me, but then my RNG has always sucked… Oh Precursor!! why hath thee forsaken me!!!….
I mean to start my task to get my job done on time… I mean to have…..fun? The new maps aren’t really worth entering without doing the main meta events no matter how fun gliding is or how beautiful they are….
You’ve been talking about how unfun this game is and how terrible ANet is for more than a year and yet… Here you are? Interesting.
Well, it’s sort of relationship where you keep thinking things are going to change, and you hold out for that maybe too long… This mostly has to do with WvW, my primary interest. Back when I first started playing I found the dodge or die mechanic to be frustrating, but it’s not as bad now that I can dodge and not die. But I have never been a huge fan of that knife-edge aspect of more difficult PvE encounters. Certainly, the last couple of months of PvE experience has be greatly improved with the new maps, and elite specializations, but I am just getting to the point where the masteries are at the challenge-grind stage, and the reality that there isn’t much that I really want or need from the 4 map currencies does take some of the fun out of them…
WvW, my main reason to play got Shreked. I waited for HoT specializations to stabilize before crafting ascended armor… Oops! Welcome the new HoT economy… Was that supposed to improve my experience after buying HoT?
So you don’t think Anet has really dropped the ball here, at least on WvW? Oh and Guild halls, and Scribing? Ok, there is talk about a “WvW Overhaul” but even the very very simple band-aids that Gaile posted about in December aren’t even close enough to announce exactly what they will be after our “feedback” or anything even remotely close to a date, “Early 2016” covers now until the middle of March…
(edited by Tspatula.9086)
Well, it’s not as terrible as sometime I think it is, but here is how I see it:
4 new maps -pretty good
elite specs -unbalanced but ok assuming a lot of balancing
Guild halls -great idea, very poor implementation once you get past the size of the area and a massive gold sink.
Scribe -disaster, worse than not having guild halls and the other “benefits”
Raid -probably ok, only stepped into it a little so far
Rewards….. it’s pretty clear that part of the major expansion, was reduction in the amount of gold in the economy. Dungeons nerfed, Ascended crafting much more expensive, Fractals -super nerf, now just major nerf, scribe -gold vacuum, guild halls -gold sink, and…..
Map currencies…. I have plenty of all 4 of them…. I don’t see anything I really am interested in getting with the currencies. A lot of recipies that are going to be super expensive to craft as well, now we have the HoT economy and everything is more expensive
collections, legendaries, achievments… grind grind grind.
Since there isn’t much in the map rewards vendor list for currencies I probably won’t try much more to exactly time my entry into a map to start work…. I mean to start my task to get my job done on time… I mean to have…..fun? The new maps aren’t really worth entering without doing the main meta events no matter how fun gliding is or how beautiful they are….
So someone who runs a red light (only once!) in their car should get a free pass?
Someone who steals out of the cash register at work (only once!) should only get a tap on the wrist?
You do the wrong thing, even once, there’s a chance you’ll get caught. He did.. & now he’s sorry about it only because he got repercussions. And everyone going on about “oh, unfair IP banning for everyone in the house!”
Did they say that’s what happened? Because all I heard were that his account was banned for botting, and her account was banned probably because the 200g he sent her was a profit from botting. She was complicit whether she knew about it or not.
If she truly didn’t know about it I think it’s fair she gets the account back but, honestly, I’m skeptical.
First of all, your argument is irrelevant, botting and running red lights are not related. Nor are any of your other “examples”. Personally, I don’t feel I have the facts or the right to lay down judgment. And, I never suggested that his ban be lifted, did I? You were ok to that point, but now you are in your own fantasyland, maybe he made a million gold!!! maybe he saved 1000 puppies!!! maybe he’s really a terrorist, maybe he and his sister are BOTH terrorists, or maybe they are simple fallible human beings just like everyone else… Are you saying that if I sent 200g to someone that I should be banned, because I certainly have sent similar sums to people more than once.
Personally, I think it’s a little harsh to ban them both for a single 60 second incidence to grab a quick map completion that was never repeated, it’s not like any rewards gotten can’t be removed, but on the other hand, it’s pretty clearly botting, and totally Anet’s call, they know all the facts.
Wow, everyone is so judgmental. Like Anet had NEVER gotten it WRONG?
I wanna shine a little light on the whole cheating matter. I am 100 % aware about the terrible things I have done and said and I assure you, I am not proud of them. I just hope that some of you will understand that there is a story behind this and maybe reconsider the whole “just terrible cheaters/botters/liars and bad human beings” mindset. So here is what I did:
First of all, Stacy had NOTHING to do with any of this. She deserves nothing of the hate we are getting because of me. I kittened up, big time, and I take full responsibility.
You were saying?
Everyone was wrong about it being the WD JP…. He probably assumed the same thing as everyone else, now I am not saying he is being honest now, but if it was a single incidence that he tried out ONCE to get 29 WP or POIs or whatever, I don’t really think all the hating is justified, none of us is perfect….
Wow, everyone is so judgmental. Like Anet had NEVER gotten it WRONG? They sounded pretty sincerely upset for being banned, and I would be too if I was wrongly banned. The evidence seems really weak to me, why would anyone port to 29 map locations within 60 seconds, and why would they only do it once? Gaile didn’t say they regularly ported all over maps or on 15 separate occasions they use some sort of bot to port around the map or the WD JP which was not mentioned, so we don’t even know if that was were the “offence” occurred.
Consider the Wolfy’s example. He was ABSOLUTELY NOT DOING ANYTHING WRONG, but he still had to above Anet to NCSoft to have his case looked at seriously, and only then did he get he account reinstated… If this happened to me, I’d be far more upset than that video.
If they really are bads, there should be a lot more than one instance of porting 29 times in 60 seconds, what can they possibly be doing? I don’t even think you can reload the map in 2 seconds…..
I think the Arena’s have their own “decorations” so you probably can’t use the regular ones there. I know there are walls and turrets and other stuff that can be set up there at some point in the arena development
I don’t think people realize how easy it is to dodge the dragon banner #5. Unless you use it against a mega blob or in a choke, everyone who is not lagging will just dodge out of it. Pirate shipping with a dragon banner would be stupid, because your not going to land any impactful #5s and you’re just gonna end up spamming the #1.
Dodge is not the answer to everything. It’s so annoying to read it as the only suggestion to some issue with the game, as though it’s always available and always the best option. Dodge is situational, dodge requires that you have one available, that you can see the incoming whatever and that you are not already cc’d. If you are in a group of more than 10 people, sometimes the tells are obscured so dodging isn’t possible to avoid at least the initial attack. Dodging does not happen in a vacuum. AND dodging is only one of many damage mitigation tools and not always the best one.
the game was ruined, but anet isnt going to do anything because the people who casually casually casually play the game is happy dressing their characters and buying more gems for stupid skins
as long they still buy gems they wont do kitten
this was an awesome game , but as a long mmo player , every game has to / will die
its time to move on
Ruined for who? not for me… I enjoy it now more than ever, it’s just a personal opinion tho… hence the thread tittle, what’s ruined for me is mostly the forums.
Edit: Funny we fall into the same discussions over and over … same stuff is being repeated 24/7 both defending and attacking side, threads all look the same, … this was about forums, end up with game rants. … someone will answer this comment for sure… with something like “if game was better people won’t be ranting” … kinda getting old
The forums are ruined for you? Exactly what part of any thread is required to participate in the forums? There are plenty of generally positive threads to post in and share your enjoyment of the game, as well as, sharing tips and information.
Sorry, but for some of use who spent a lot of money on the expansion, there was a certain expectation of value for money spent. I’ve been playing since about a month after the beta ended, after a year WvW became my primary activity. It’s has been ignored by Anet and has gradually declined in population and fun over the last couple years. EtoM was released as a “WvW” map, but if was a complete failure for the majority of the WvW community. We just got a new map and it suffers many of the exact same types of problems that were inherent in the EtoM map. That made me, and many many WvWers very unhappy about things in general. But, that map came free so not part of HoT really.
I bought HoT so of course I had to get specializations built up for all of my toons and why not check out HoT…. Gliding is awesome. But I have now leveled out specializations on ALL the professions, I have completed all the meta events, I generally try to get at least 3 full Dragon Stand metas (from time zero to killing Mordi) done per week and what do I have to show for it. Well, I have 4 map currencies…. After all that, I think I got one exotic drop (Truth irrc), I got new crafting mats, I got eggs, etc… I look at the “vendors” and there isn’t really much of anything I really want. I guess vipers stuff would be cool… so I spent the last 2 months grinding out my specializations, got my map currencies and NOW I can buy……… recipes…..
Prior to HoT I had been fairly content with exotic armors and weapons with Ascended trinkets in WvW, but I’ve been saving stuff to craft ascended weapons and armors (I really wish I had run a lot more fractals pre-HoT) but now thanks to the expansion, ascended gear got hugely more expensive and as I alluded, ascended fractal drops are nothing compared with pre-HoT drops.
Let’s see, my guild had a bunch of WvW upgrades. Those were all removed, no compensation from Anet on that hard earned stuff. Now my guild and I have to buy back all of it, at quite a lot of gold to boot.
Scribes…. oh scribes. Let’s just forget the insanely massive gold sink that scribing is, but do you realize if your guild scribe decides to stop playing the game… that’s it. Your guild has to start over. Even though everyone in the guild contributed to leveling that person, because no single normal player can possibly afford to do it. That is a design feature.
I could go on… but let’s just say for argument here, that some of us aren’t all that happy, for very specific and reasonable reasons. I understand that HoT has some really great stuff, but also brought some really ugly along with it. How you feel about the game and the expansion really depends on how much of your experience depended or depends on the ugly….. and it needs to be said, repeatedly.
When you finish the repeatable achievements, they reset back to 0, but your meta count should have gone up. Everyone else’s has.
If that is the case for some people then there is definitely a bug in the achievement. I sat at 17 of 18 and did at least 2 rounds of toypocalypse (30 lvls each) achievements and 2 of the bell choir farming presents and did not get it. I had to do the Claw of Jormag for the 18th tick on the main achievement.
