I just want to say that for each person who feels “betrayed” by Anet, there is one of us that sees almost nothing wrong.

I showed GW2 to my friend, she was very interested in the game and also in the incoming expansion HoT after watching the trailer. So she read from the FAQ that she would need the core game to play HoT and she decided to buy it from a retail store for $20 on May 1st 2015, right after Chronomancer was announced.

Her oldest character is 50 days old only today. HoT prepurchase was announced and Arenanet stealth changed their FAQ about requiring the core game, now offering the core game for free if you purchase HoT for $50 minimum.

Arenanet will not refund or discount my friend, she spoke to a supervisor at their customer service and because it was purchased at a retail store they refuse to do anything about it. They will also not discount-upgrade the account to have HoT if she pays them $30($50 minus the $20 she paid at the retail store), there is no such option anyway. So my friend will have to shell out $70 in total, and only get HoT Standard.

You see almost nothing wrong with this?

I asked my Lawyer as well a few days ago. What the OP is saying is correct.
For the past few days, I have been letting people know in map chat(specially map chats with a dev in it) and forums that this is indeed a case of false advertising.
However, all I really want is a good deal with HoT, be it I get a second core account(as advertised) or a character slot for my $50 worth.
I dont want Arenanet to get sued, I dont want GW2 to go down, I dont want HoT to come out as the biggest ripoff in gaming history either.
I am holding off on the purchase of HoT in the meantime.

This is for weapon and armor currently – weapons use the same recipe as armor to stat change except they use inscriptions to allow you to change instead of insignias.

Alas yes it does destroy the runes and sigils in the item, the mystic forge doesn’t currently have a way to allow us to do this kind of stat changing without it working that way.

Also: Shout out to Matt P and Linsey who did all the hard work to make this possible

Thank you for all this. But how about an Ascended Aquabreather? I still cannot get a complete Ascended Armor because that piece of Ascended gear still does not exist in-game…
Or how about we remove Aquabreathers altogether and make us wear our Helmet while underwater?

Yes, Arenanet are people too, that’s true.
However, there are all kinds of people in this world.
There are those amazing people who pour their heart and soul into their work and want to give you the best they can possibly make, even if they barely make ends meet by the end of the day.
Then there are those greedy people who will take that work and milk it to make their own share of cheese bigger.

I respect the devs who put their hard work in HoT.
I have no respect for that one person(you know who it is but we cannot name and shame here) who is milking their work and our money.

I dont want to give in to that kind of greedy person, it will only prove that they can do whatever we want, and then next expansion will be $100 for Standard, $150 for Deluxe and $300 for Ultimate.

Just a reminder, Remember that anything in this world is only really worth what people are willing to pay for it.

There’s quite a few problems with this pricing.

Currently they’re selling Core Game + Xpan together for 50 dollars. That’s actually a great deal! Awesome for new players. But the problem is they said the xpan by it’s self is 50 dollars and the Core Game is Free. No, that is a lie. From what I’ve seen the xpan does not have 50 dollars worth of content to match or even come close to the amount of content the Core Game has. You can buy GW2 alone for around 20-40 dollars or cheaper all over the place, that leaves 10-30 dollars for Xpansion price. I don’t care what they say, the core game is not free in this bundle.

As an existing account, regardless of if I wanted it or not, if I buy it I’m forced to receive a second Full GW2 account. Why would I want this? It’s a waste of a digital CD key. As far as I’m concerned I should be able to get a full core game refund for the empty unused account they give me because I don’t want it. It’s a waste of both of our money to give it to me so what’s the point? The 2nd account probably doesn’t even get it’s own HoT key so even if I gave it away to someone they wouldn’t have the xpan and would have to buy it for 50 dollars and receive a 2nd account themselves when the more logical approach would be for them to just buy the core+xpan themselves.

So basically I’m gonna come right out and say it; This is the dumbest sale I ever seen~ even after seeing Rockstar’s summer sale scam on Steam. I love this game and it’s sad to see you guys hurt your own project so much with this awful decision.

The new players who buy HoT get to apply HoT to their new Full GW2 Account. You, the existing player, do NOT receive a second Full GW2 Account if you prepurchase HoT. You only get to apply HoT to your current account and that’s it. Nothing else, there is no second account from which you could at least claim stuff like Login-Daily-Rewards and such. Which is why I see this as false advertising.

The biggest offender here is clearly that free core game to new players.

Example1:
There are 8 people lining up at the bank. You are 5th in line, and there is only one teller. The other teller finally arrives and sits at her desk. She tells all the people behind you(but not you) to make a second line, and starts helping the person who was right behind you. The 3 people behind you are now 1st-3rd in the second line. Well, you were the 5th, but now you are dead last. Nothing has changed though, because you were 5th anyway. Do you think it is okay to treat customers this way?

Example2:
A store is giving away a free can of coke with the purchase of a bottle of coke. The cashier somehow put through the can of coke before the bottle of coke. In doing so, you paid for both the can and the bottle of coke because the system does not detect it as a promotion unless she put through the bottle of coke first. She is refusing to refund you what you paid for the can of coke. Do you think it is okay to treat customers this way?

Example3:
A company provides membership cards only to their regular customers. Presenting a membership card gives you 10% discount when purchasing any of their products. Today though, they are giving away new membership cards that give 15% discount on all their products to anyone who comes in. They tell you that you are not eligible for the new membership card because you have an old one. They can upgrade your old card but it will take one month. This means that for one month, you are the only one who wont benefit from 5% extra discount because you were their regular customer before. Do you think it is okay to treat customers this way?

I buy HoT and dont get a GW2 core game for free even though they advertised that I do.

What I want:
I buy HoT and apply it to my account. I also get a GW2 core game for free, on which my brother can play. I really don’t understand your problem with dry top. I get keys from sw and pvp. Every time I’ve got about 10 I go to dry top during a sandstorm (second half of the hour).

I run from chest to chest, ignoring events, till I run out of keys. Then I leave.

Why is that so hard?

Err…that’s the point of something being in your home-instance, you don’t have to go to that zone to collect it.

For example, I don’t have to go to Frostgorge Sound to collect Orichalcum because I have a Orichalcum node in my home-instance. Same for the Bandit Chest and any other nodes.
Of course, if I want more, I can always go to that zone. But on days where I cannot play for very long and just go to my home-instance to get some daily goodies, this would be nice? We already have a Bandit Chest in our home-instance afterall.

An Ascended tier Aquabreather with selectable stats, or craftable recipes for Ascended Aquabreathers.
I have been waiting for this since Ascended Armor was introduced at the end of 2013. This is also a piece of equipment, Ascended Armor is not really complete without it.

A Dragonite Ore eater, just like MawdreyII for Bloodstone Dust.
It makes sense that after introducing a Bloodstone Dust eater and an Empyreal Fragment eater, a Dragonite Ore eater would be introduced. Maybe?

A home-instance Buried Locked Chest(requiring a Zephyrite Lockpick to open), just like the Found Bandit Chest in the home-instance.
We all have a bunch of Zephyrite Lockpick that are never used because Dry Top is dead since the introduction of Silverwastes. Maybe at least give us this chest that we can open daily in our home-instance, just like the Bandit Chest?

Many players are saying that there is no new content and that they have nothing to do while waiting for HoT to come out.
Perhaps we could have small rewards like these to work on in the meantime? Even small rewards like these make people happy, and also count as content.

Imagine Keeper was Zerker

Turtle Dragon.9241

I just noticed that I had a few Keeper’s Recipes on an old character, I was really surprised at the selling prices. I feel like I just found lots of treasure in my attic, whose prices will keep going up over time. The name fits too, Keeper’s(lol).

So let’s imagine for a second that Keeper stats were buffed and became more favorable than Zerker stats.

There are only 2 Keeper Visor Recipe available on TP at 299g-399g
There are only 6 Keeper Breastplate Recipe available on TP at 279g-339g
There are only 7 Keeper Warfists Recipe available on TP at 297g-490g
There are only 3 Keeper Tasset Recipe available on TP at 400g-890g
There are only 7 Keeper Pauldrons Recipe available on TP at 419g-750g
There are only 2 Keeper Greaves Recipe available on TP at 339g-396g

1) The total price to buy just the recipes to gear a Heavy would be a minimum of 2033g and a maximum of 3264g
2) There would only be 2 accounts in the whole of GW2 that could buy/craft maxed best armor on a Heavy(excluding those who already have the recipes to craft such armors), provided someone doesnt manipulate the market and buy all of them, and sell them 4000g apiece.

Would you then finally consider the game a grind?
Would you then finally consider the game pay2win?

I think we are lucky that Keeper stats are bad.

The name now makes sense after they explain it.
Guardians become some kind of Witch-Hunter, which is fitting for the profession.
However, since there are no Witches in Tyria, they named it Dragon-Hunter instead.
Witches were once considered a source of evil. In Tyria though, Dragons currently hold that position.

This is like asking why there is no “Guild Wars” in Guild Wars. The game was named Guild Wars for a different Lore-related reason.

I like the idea of Signet of Courage and “Feel my Wrath”, but we are losing Pacifism(from ToC).
Pacifism is the only way for Guardian to inflict Daze.

You should incorporate 1-second Daze into the new Dragonhunter trait Heavy Light instead of the Knockback that PvE players hate and are already screaming about. That way we can still apply Daze and wont miss Pacifism so much.

It looks that way to me.

The Chronomancer uses Wells, and ends up being a Mesmer/Necromancer.

The Dragonhunter uses traps, and ends up being a Guardian/Ranger.

I am going to assume that the Tempest is an Elementalist/Thief. Thieves have Deceptions, Traps, Tricks and Signets. Since Eles have Signets already, and Guardians just took Traps from Rangers, we can assume Eles will get Tricks or Deceptions.

As for future Elite specs of future expansions, we should expect Guardian/Warrior with Stances or Guardian/Elementalists with Cantrips etc…

Feedback: Move some Guardian traits around

Turtle Dragon.9241

The problem is that the synergetic traits are in different lines.
With the Elite specialization line coming, we can assume that we will all(really, who isnt going to?) be investing 1 line into the Elite specialization.
That only leaves us with 2 more lines.

Let’s say I want the Blind/Vulnerability combo on my Elite-spec Guardian, which I currently get by only putting 3(only 3!) trait points in Radiance. In the new system, I have to take the whole Zeal line AND the whole Radiance line to get this combo. This means my 2 remaining trait lines(since the 1st is the Elite spec one), leaving room for nothing else!

In addition, certain Adept choices are simply bad, such as Honor and Virtues.

Honor: Invigorating Bulwark vs Protective Reviver vs Protector’s Impact.
Here is an example of very bad choice.
Use a Mace. If you do not, then you have a choice between a useless on-revive trait or an even more useless fall damage trait.
I want to spec in Honor because of Pure of Voice, and I am stuck with this useless trash!

Virtues: Unscathed Contender vs Retaliatory Subconscious vs Master of Consecrations.
So, unless I use Consecrations, all 3 of these traits are rather bad.
People dont spec in Virtues because of Consecrations, but because of Virtues. All I want from this line is Absolute Resolution(and maybe Indomitable Courage), but I have to choose between bad and worse Adept traits.

I think they really need to move some traits around.

Here are some suggestions from the preview of the Guardian Core Specializations.

Zealous Scepter should not be in Zeal. Scepter has no Symbol and should not be in a Symbols(Zeal) line. Or make Smite a Symbol. It doesnt have to do AoE damage or provide any boons, just make the AoE a Symbol so it can benefit from Symbols traits.

Binding Jeopardy should move to Radiance. The Blind/Vulnerability Guardian from Virtue of Justice renewing on kill is currently in the same line(Radiance) and should be kept that way. Retribution(+10% damage while under Retaliation) should be in Zeal instead, since it only adds damage. It would also benefit from Zealot’s Speed and Greatsword’s Symbol if it were in Zeal too(since Zeal has the Greatsword trait).
These two should exchange places since they are both Master.

Focus Mastery and Stalwart Defender should not both be in Valor. Most people use either Focus or Shield, not both. This reduces our trait choices because Shield trait a Master but Focus trait an Adept. If they both remain in Valor, they should at least both be Adept(make it one or the other, choose Focus or Shield). Or Virtuous Mallet could be moved to Valor(since Glacial Heart is currently in Valor) instead. Rename it Valorous Mallet.

Consider moving Unscathed Contender to Valor. It would have great synergy there.

Pure of Voice(Shouts), Monk’s Focus(Meditations), Perfect Inscriptions(Signets), Expeditions Spirits(Spirit Weapons) are all Grandmaster traits.
Master of Consecrations(Consecrations) should also be moved to Grandmaster and have an added effect(such as 1 stack of Might for 5s every second for anyone standing in it).

Guardian trait “Scepter Power” is a Master trait in the Zeal line. The Zeal line is mostly about Symbols. Scepter has no Symbols and no Offhand has Symbols, so you end up with
a weaponset without any Symbols.

Trait lines never made sense…

Before you say that it makes sense to put increased damage for a weapon into the Zeal(Power) trait line, then why is Powerful Blades(The Sword version of the trait) in Radiance(Precision) trait line?

Really, trait lines never made much sense. The devs seem to have a list of traits, put in traits that deal with specific skill types into certain trait lines, then fill in the leftover traits in whatever trait line that isnt full yet.

Information, and the lack thereof

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Turtle Dragon.9241

Turtle Dragon.9241

The reason is simple:

If they announce that something will be in the game, such as Mesmer Shield, then they have to commit to it because they said it. So Mesmers MUST have a Shield. If somehow a better idea pops up later for Mesmer, like Mesmer Dagger, then they cant just come in and say Mesmer wont have Shield anymore and have Dagger instead, after getting people hyped about Mesmer Shield.

P.S: A Mesmer wielding a Shield is only seen in the trailer. They never “announced” it. So they can still give Mesmer a different weapon and claim the Shield thing was just “artists having fun animating the trailer”. There are skills in the GW2 trailer from 3+ years ago that are shown and did not make it into the current game.

It isnt wise to commit to something that has not undergone thorough testing and that you are not yet satisfied with to show. The second advantage is that, if they get an unanimous(or majority) negative feedback from something they hinted at, they can still change it and are not committed to putting it into the game.

However, this also gives us a hint as to how much they have worked on so far, and how much they still have to work on. This also gives us an estimate on when HoT will be released.

How do I explain this…

Religion comes from books.
People are allowed to discuss books(or movies, or anything they like).
Any books can be discussed, be it Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings or the Bible.
Anyone is free to join/not join the discussion of whichever book.
Anyone is free to RP as if the contents of any book exists, be it in real life or on the internet.
Telling people that everything is fake when they are RPing breaks immersion and is therefore considered disruptive and offensive.
Forcing people to live(RP) as if the content of your book exists steps on their freedom and rights. This is a crime against humanity. Terrorism and Dictatorship is a subsection of this.
However, inviting people to RP with you is not a crime. Anyone is free to decline.
A church is a gathering of RPers who like to discuss and RP about the contents of a book called the Holy Bible.

I am not an Atheist
What I believe in:
There is a non-human, evil entity out there.
Every time anyone prays to it, it gains power.
It claims to have created everything in existence(with no proof).
That entity created stupid rules(a.k.a 10 Commandments), and when one breaks them, one has angered it, and committed a “sin” against it. That same entity also created many diseases.
Then that same entity took human form and healed the diseased.
It also stated that it sacrificed itself to forgave people for their sins, but actually faked its death. It just went back to its non-human form.

It is an old bait and switch technique to gain people’s trust.
I break my neighbor’s window by throwing a rock at it in the middle of the night. The next morning, I come and “help” to repair said window. My neighbor thanks me and gives me some cookies for helping. My neighbor starts trusting me, and starts telling people in our area how I am a good and helpful young lady.

In the same way, that evil entity created sins and diseases, then forgave and healed them to make them worship it and gain power, admiration and trust.

That evil entity feeds on souls. Every time you pray(ask the evil entity for something), it feeds on a bit of your soul and gains power. It may/may not give you what you asked for in return, it is somewhat RNG.
When you die, it asks you to surrender your whole soul, and if it has gained your trust, you will probably do so. If it eats your whole soul, you cannot re-incarnate.
If you are tired of life anyway, and would like to sell your soul, you might as well sell it to that entity’s worst enemy, who is sure to give you a lot for it. It is better than playing RNG with the evil entity with bits of your soul at a time.

Otherwise, keep your soul tight and live thousands of years through different lives, like me.

Specialisations and old weapons.

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Turtle Dragon.9241

Turtle Dragon.9241

How i think specialization should work:

Take Elementalist as example.
By Specializing, the Elementalist become the Hamstormancer. They lose the whole Arcana Trait line, which is replaced by a completely new trait line. The Hamstormancer can equip Swords as their main weapon, but they retain the use of Attunements.

New traits need to be added, and they are likely going to be added as a new trait line. Considering that it is unlikely for Elementalist to lose any other trait line(Fire/Water/Air/Earth Magic), it is likely they will lose Arcana. It also makes sense that only Elementalists should have Arcana, and by becoming a Hamstormancer, you lose Arcana and gain a new trait line.

In the Ranger’s case, it also makes sense that only Rangers should have access to Beast Mastery. Of course, Druids get to keep their pet, but they lose Beast Mastery, and gain a new trait line in Earth Prayers. They also get a new weapon, the Staff.

Only Mesmers should have Illusions. If you become a Chronomancer, you should get something like Time Magic instead.

This way, the base professions remain worthwhile. Just consider your Elementalist without Evasive Arcana, or your Guardian without Absolute Resolution. By specializing, you would lose those great traits, but gain a new weapon, a new trait line and new skills. So this makes you consider to not specialize if you want to keep those traits.

This will allow the base professions to remain competitive as it brings choice to the players whether they should specialize or not. We would gain a lot of diversity(18 professions) in this way, compared to everyone specializing(9 specialized professions).

The Revenant would work the same way. By specializing, they are not Revenants anymore, so they would lose Invocation(Legend Channeling trait line) and gain a new trait line, with a new Legend as well.
Considering that Revenants are to have 5 trait lines, people have speculated that there will be 4 Legends(1 for each line), and 1 Profession trait line. But datamined source found 5 Legends. The last Legend(Shiro Tagachi) is likely to come through specialization only, replacing the profession trait line(Invocation).

Immobilised In Mid Air

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Turtle Dragon.9241

Turtle Dragon.9241

There’s actually 2 bugs.

The first bug occurs when you are jumping/leaping/falling and you acquire the Immobilized condition before you hit the ground. In this case, you cannot use any skills whatsoever to get out of it, you remain there as a sitting duck, and have to wait for Immobilized to end(specially annoying when people keep stacking more Immobilized). This occurs because you cannot use any skills or drop bundles while in midair. This is very annoying, specially in PvP/WvW. Another issue is getting Immobilized in WvW/PvE while on water surface. You have no skills while swimming, you cannot remove the Immobilized, you are a soon to be dead duck at the surface of the pond(passive condition removal such as Signet of Resolve still tick while on water surface).

The second bug occurs when you waypoint and the game sends you to the waypoint at the incorrect height. This happens specially often when using a Waypoint that is on land while you are currently under water. You remain stuck in midair with no weapon skills(since the game detects you are no longer under water). This can also happen when you use a waypoint while falling from very high(happens often in EotM, where you try to waypoint to avoid death if you fell through a hole). You can get out of this one by using a leap/shadowstep/movement skill.

Guardian:
Save Yourselves only works for 1/2 the duration
Selfless Daring only heals for 1/2 the amount
Retaliation does 33% less damage

Is Guardian the only class that gets heavily nerfed in sPvP?

Stability Change Clarification

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Turtle Dragon.9241

Turtle Dragon.9241

Heres a question for anet…

Have any of you used stability?

Have any of you been immobilized?

Now tell me which of these need to be freaking nerfed

Thanks for once again proving you have no clue towards balancing, and dont give a crap about wvw.

Why would immobilize need a nerf?

Immobilize has 2 broken problems:
1. Being Immobilized when in mid-air means you cannot use most skills while in mid-air, or drop whatever bundle you are carrying(cannot drop bundle in mid-air) until Immobilized is over. This acts just like free Stun, for very very long durations, and the duration stacks. So if you get Immobilized while you are leaping, you are dead meat.

2. Being Immobilized when you are at the surface of water, where you have no skill, no stunbreaker, no condition removal(except passive ones from trait or sigil). You cannot do anything except wait for death at this point.

The first situation applies in all game modes. The second only applies in WvW and PvE.

For WvW and PvE,
The biggest question is what are they going to do about Stand Your Ground and Hallowed Ground, which are the 2 most important skills for group Stability.

New Elite Skills + Revenant Legends

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Turtle Dragon.9241

Turtle Dragon.9241

It seems Revenant will be getting 4 Legends. Each Traitline will be tied to a Legend, and the final Traitline is the profession-specific one(which will probably be decreased recharge on Legends by x% per point invested in that line).

This means the Revenant is getting 4 Elite skills(1 per Legend), 12 Utility skills(3 per Legend) so far, and 4 Heal skills(1 per Legend).

Meanwhile, other professions have 3 Elite skills so far. According to Specialization, each profession is getting 1 additional Heal and 1 additional Elite. This sets it to 4 Elites per professions.

If Revenants get an extra Legend for Revenant Specialization, Revenant will have a total of 5 Elites.

Mesmer is getting at least Shield. A skill with purple butterflies animation from a character with a Shield in video.
Guardian is getting either Longbow or Shortbow as seen in video. We do not know whether that will be a Longbow or Shortbow. Spirit Bow is the only Spirit Weapon that Guardians have and cannot wield. The thing is, Spirit Bow can be a Longbow or Shortbow. (If) Eir dies and Braham picks up her Bow, but there is also Eir’s Longbow and Eir’s Short Bow as well.

My guess:
Elementalist is not getting Longbow, Shortbow, Shield, Hammer or Greatsword. Because Eles are not supposed to have a weapon that is the same as a Conjured Weapon. Arenanet will advertise Hamstorm all over again and give Elementalist a Sword.
Warrior is likely getting Dagger. Dagger is the only weapon in Weaponsmith that Warriors cannot wield. Dagger Warriors existed in GW1, as did Staff Ranger and Hammer Ranger, and we are getting Staff Ranger.
Thief could be getting Rifle. There is a Medium class with a Rifle in the video but that could have been an Engineer.
Revenant – We dont even know the current weapons.

It’s funny that they said they would introduce FULL Ascended Armor back in December 2013, but they never really did. There’s still a piece of Ascended Armor missing.

Yes it does count as Armor as it replaces your Headgear while underwater.
It’s been over a year since this has been left Incomplete.

Getting GWAMM/Champion of the Gods now?

Turtle Dragon.9241

I am in the same boat. When I played GW1, I only ever cared about monies instead of titles. I farmed thousands of ectos and zkeys.
When HoM came out, I bought every Monument possible to fill my Hall(weapons, hero armors, armors, minis) and still have over 1000 platinum left in GW1.
As you can see though, one cannot buy most titles(except some like Sweet tooth) and I became stuck at 45/50, with a large amount(need 20 more unbuyable titles) of title grind to get to 50/50.

In your list though, the following are rather easy:
Eternal Bookah (Turn in Books)
Eternal Delver
Eternal Slayer
Eternal Ebon Vanguard Agent
Eternal Lightbringer
Eternal Spearmarshal
Eternal Savior of the Kurzicks
Eternal Savior of the Luxons
Eternal Tyrian Cartographer (Use Cartographer Texmod)
Eternal Canthan Cartographer
Eternal Elonian Cartographer
Eternal Legendary Cartographer
Eternal Guardian of Tyria (Not hard with Heroes)
Eternal Guardian of Cantha
Eternal Legendary Guardian
Eternal Protector of Tyria (Why do you not have that yet?)
Eternal Protector of Cantha
Eternal Protector of Elona
Eternal Tyrian Vanquisher (Easy but grindy)
Eternal Canthan Vanquisher
Eternal Elonian Vanquisher
Eternal Legendary Vanquisher

Possible to get with a little effort:
Eternal Sweet Tooth (how rich are you?)
Eternal Source of Wisdom (like really rich?)
Eternal Conqueror of the Deep (If you can find a group somehow)
Eternal Conqueror of Urgoz’s Warren
Eternal Gladiator(how good are you at pvp?)
Eternal Defender of Ascalon (play a little everyday for about 50 days)
Eternal Master of the North (not recommended)

Those that are hard(some impossible) to get:
Eternal Commander (not available anymore)
Eternal Skillz (Seasonal)
Eternal Champion (GvG seems dead)
Eternal Hero (HA seems dead)
Eternal Codex Disciple (Codex seems dead)
Eternal Treasure Hunter (will take a while)
Eternal Fortune (will take even longer)

There are 22 easy(easy enough) ones you could get right now.
The last one is up to you, I suggest Sweet Tooth.

Edit: More like in the opposite situation of Phoebe lol

Are the new boons exclusive to revenant or will other classes have them worked into current skills? Maybe classes will get them in their spec?

If you read the interview carefully, it says other professions will have access to the new boons and conditions but only through Specialization(the wording used is unclear, but seems to mean vanilla version of classes do not gain access to said boons and conditions).

There is one thing still very confusing to me about this blog post.

It sounds like the Revenant may get less customization than other classes. As per usual your first five skills are determined by your weapon, but unlike other classes they said your second five skills are determined by your legend. Are they determined only by your legend? As in, you pick a legend and get the five skills that come with it? Or will there be a selectable loadout of skills within each legend? And if so how many per legend?

This is what concerns me too. I’m fine by having only weapon skills being restricted to a predetermined set, but your weapon skills AND your heal/utility/elite skill? Seems like there is very little build variety that way.

It looks to me like it functions exactly the same as how Elementalist attunements affect some of their utilities. In other words the Revenant has x number of skills to slot and each skill has one of x number of different effects based on which stance you’re in. Essentially each utility, heal and elite will have a core effect and purpose and the stance will give it a twist to suit that legend.

Take that skill that turns the Revenant into an avatar of Malyx for example (obvious Dervish reference there). I’m expecting that skill to have a similar effect in every stance, turning you into an avatar of that legend and granting you some maintained buff specific to whichever stance you’re in when you use it.

To me this would be the most logical way to implement it. Build variety would be the same as every other profession in the game but Revenants will have twice as many considerations to make since every slotted heal, utility and elite actually counts for two skills.

It doesnt seem to be that way according to the pictures though. It seems that whenyou swap Legends, your skill bar changes completely. It’s not like you equip a specific Heal skill, and it would grant you Protection if you use it while channeling Jalis, or remove 3 conditions while channeling Mallyx(although that would be a cool type of class mechanic too) like Attunements would.

“The current active legend will determine the skills on the right half of your skill bar. It’s similar to weapon swapping, but instead it affects your healing, utility, and elite skills. Not only will the legend you select determine your skills, but you’ll have an energy bar tied to your currently invoked legend.”

It is very vague, but that’s how I understood it:

You get to choose each Legend’s Heal,Utility,Elite(the skill swap arrows are there above each skill). But this means you can only use said skills while you are channeling that specific Legend.
Example, you take Utility1 on Mallyx and Utility2 on Jalis. When you have Mallyx active, you can only use Utility1. You must swap to Jalis to use Utility2.
While out of combat, you can put Utility2 on Mallyx and Utility1 on Jalis if you want.

“The current active legend will determine the (current)skills on the right half of your skill bar(that you selected for that specific Legend while out of combat).”

It seems Upkeeps stay even when you swap Legends, provided you have the Energy to maintain them. Since the Upkeep skill is not available anymore once you swap Legend, we will probably have a mechanic like double clicking it to remove, just like Monks Upkeeps in GW1)

Take a normal class like Warrior, you get 5 skills from your weapon, 5 skills from your swap weapon and 5(Heal,3Utilities,Elite) skills from the right side of your bar. That makes a total 15 skills.

The Revenant does not get weapon swap, so 5 skills only from your weapon. But you get 2 Heals, 6 Utilities, 2 Elites(of your choice). This also makes a total of 15 skills.

I know that having 2 Elites sounds very OP, but keep in mind that the Revenant has the Energy management system to cast/upkeep the skills, and Elites probably have a very large cost(possibly the full energy bar) and it seems unlikely you can use both Elites back to back.

I dont think I am bad at PvP

Wahoo! Bye frands!

I have 94/170 games won in Unranked. I think that’s average. I can kill other players just fine. I just dont understand why the Turret is so much tougher than a Warrior.

P.S: I can break a gate in Legacy of the Foefire in under 15 seconds with a Greatsword and Soldier’s stats.

Do you have pvp steady weapons equipped by accident? (not sure if those are still available from vendor )

No, I am using my Ascended Weapon. The stats get changed in PvP though.

P.S: I have a little over 2000 Power if that matters.

Do you have melee attack assist turned off so you can get inside the turret for your Whirling Wrath? That skill does tons of damage.

Yes I do.

I have now tried to stack Bloodlust to 25 stacks and I can take down about 15-20% of the Turret’s HP with the above mentioned chain. I think it would take me about a minute or so hitting the Turret/s to Kill them because cooldowns and need to heal.

I am trying on a Thumper Turret if that matters.

P.S: The Engi was nice enough to stay there and watch me try to kill the turrets quietly, but he says he has to go now. I still want to find a solution to kill the turrets.

I am using a Greatsword. I hit it with Whirling Wrath, then I used Symbol of Wrath, then an auto-attack chain. It lost about 10% of its HP after the 3rd hit of my autoattack chain.

Are you sure, you selected the right amulet in the PvP equipment window?
Maybe you were playing with rabid or settler^^

I tried Celestial at first, and could not damage it for more than 5% with the above mentioned chain. Then I tried Soldier’s and it did about 10% of the Turret’s HP. I think the Engineer must have Metal Plating and Autotool Installation trait equipped or something like that. The Engineer just drops the Turrets then leaves for another point.
I think I could kill the Turrets(if they dont kill me first) but it would take me over a minute of hitting them.

I tried to Kill an Engineer’s Turret while the Engineer was not there. I could not do it. I tried Soldier’s gear, which would have the best chance because Turrets cannot be crit or conditioned so Zerker wouldnt matter.
So I dont know what to do now. I cant kill a single Turret, how can i kill 3 of them at the same time?
I dont think I am bad at PvP, but I want to know how to Kill Turrets, and do it quickly. Any advice?

I think the person who designed Turrets added too many 0 to their HP.

I play Guardian, if that matters.

Explain - zerker and active defenses?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Turtle Dragon.9241

Turtle Dragon.9241

1. Bosses with OHKO mechanics.
Bosses that do 40k damage regardless of stats. Those bosses down you instantly no matter how much Toughness/Vitality you have. Healing is also useless there because you do not even get a chance to heal. The best defense is a good offense, as a Zerker team can kill the boss before it even has a chance to use that ultimate attack that you would have to avoid.

2. Trash mobs do not hit hard enough.
A Zerker(specially Warriors and Guardians) can currently survive most groups of trash mobs without so much as dodging or other forms of active defense. A Zerker lost 75% HP throughout the encounter that lasted 8 seconds. A Cleric remained at 100% HP throughout the same encounter that lasted 30 seconds. At the end of the encounter, the Zerker is out of combat and regains full HP. There was no reason to remain at full HP throughout the encounter other than it being some kind of safe boat in the very unlikely event that you would somehow get downed. The Cleric wasted 22 seconds.

3. Toughness has diminishing returns.
The Damage Formula divides by Armor instead of subtracting from it. This means the more points you add, the less return you get.

4. Zerker do not mix with non-Zerker
To put it in simple terms: A Zerker expects the boss to die to a full Zerker team by the time they used up their 2nd dodge. You did not bring Zerker, therefore the boss did not die because you lacked damage. The Zerker dies as they did not have a 3rd dodge.
You blame the Zerker for dying and being a bad player. The Zerker blames you as they already calculated that they would not need a 3rd dodge if you had enough Damage in the first place. It is true that if you had brought Zerker, they would not have died(as they would never need a 3rd dodge). It is also true that if the players were not Zerker, they would not have died(but the fight would take longer). Therefore, Zerkers and non-Zerkers do not mix.

Number of Professions for each Weapon:
Sword: 5
Greatsword: 4
Staff: 4
Dagger: 4
Scepter: 4
Axe: 3
Pistol: 3
Focus: 3
Shield: 3
Torch: 3
Warhorn: 3
Longbow: 2
Shortbow: 2
Rifle: 2
Hammer: 2
Mace: 2

As of what has been confirmed so far, we are getting more Greatsword(Necro), more Staff(Ranger) and even more Sword(Revenant). Are the other weapons really that unpopular? Do they really not fit into the professions? I think we should have a bit more variety, spread across armor weight too. Currently, only Heavies can have Hammers and only Mediums can have Shortbow.
Please give the lower weapons a chance.

Rumor has it Ele is also getting Sword(for Hamstorm). More more Swords?

On a side note, it might soon be possible to have a profession(Ranger) that can wield both The Bifrost and The Dreamer. Thank you Arenanet for listening.

There is a Lost Bandit Chest that is located inside the little crater next to the Camp Resolve Waypoint(right under the stairs leading down the crater). Whenever this chest is found and I attempt to open it, my game simply crashes and I get the message to Send Report to Arenanet. My game only crashes when I open that specific Bandit Chest, I can open all other Bandit Chests just fine. This has happened twice, yesterday alone. It seems the game crashes right when I start channeling Unlock on that Chest, and I do not get the loot from said Chest.
