8k.. to a single target? Pretty sure a spread-shot can one-hit-down a small blob.
It’s pretty awful, wvw is dead this week. Never thought I’d see a waypointed SM in t1 na.
As someone who only plays wvw, I love it. Gets pug rallybot pvers back in their gamemode quicker, and cuts away our queues allowing more guild groups and militia to fill out the map.

Ele’s aren’t just healers or cc-bots, you’re also a primary dps. Positioning is key, somewhere in the middle is usually the best, and you should always be moving. You need to be close enough to your melee train to drop waters and cc’s when they push, but far enough to react to the enemy blob. (If you’re too far, you’ll attract the thieves prowling the backline.)
Gear-wise, wear as much ptv as you’re comfortable with, but you should shoot for phasing it out entirely for berserker. (Staff.)
The cantrips are all the survivability you need; armor of earth for on-demand stability and protection, mist form as your “oh kitten” button (use it and go directly through your melee train), and lightning flash to quickly re-position. (Fiery greatsword is also great for re-positioning or getting away, if you’re not running tornado for the disruption.)
What side you’re on doesn’t really matter for edge of the train, without the other sides progress stops short! I think it’s a fantastic place to train and level, and that’s about it.
Every facet of the game is the same, an extreme lack of new and interesting content in a game that’s been out for a decent amount of time. Other than additional rewards they haven’t added anything to wvw or spvp since release, and you wonder why its stale?
The 2v1 sucks, but its part of the game. Stay strong fair-weather gate!
I thought at the start they were planning on releasing new weapons periodically to keep things fresh (and thus new skills), buuut, then I found out gem-store additions and microcontent trumped real interesting and permanent content updates and changes.
My server used to have wvw queues on every map too, those were the days.. #fairweathersrule
Ele is both support (water fields?) and main dps, where the front-line needs more survivability to dictate fights, we can go glass and fulfill two roles seamlessly. WvW for an ele is all about positioning and situational awareness, once you understand how to move, you’ll be unstoppable.
“Guild Raids” are the main reason I still play guild wars.
..Are you high?
Fiiiights. PPT is about the objectives, and honestly half the fights we get are at objectives. We regularly port back to defend towers and keeps (guaranteed fights) , because it beats running around till you happen to find something, so in that sense we do our part for the ppt. With that said though, the score hasn’t mattered to me for weeks, all I look for in WvW these days are good fights with my guild. Let me emphasize the fights part, bags and rewards are irrelevant.
Out of all the things you could kitten about with warrior you choose the overly telegraphed outrageous build-up finisher.
Just dodge next time.
The guy throwing multiple paper trebs at our upgraded keep supply depots loves your 6h idea.
I need this! Recently switched mains, went from a rank 500 guard to a rank 30 ele, whoo!
Some people are saying “the other” tier 1 servers. There are 3 t1 servers, I think season one proved the other servers in gold league don’t stand a chance against around the clock coverage. Less QQ, more transfer. If the other gold league servers don’t stack up, I’ll be seeing JQ+SoR for a LOOOONG TIME. And so far I’m fine with that.
I guess our experiences are different. Season one was a fail for blackgate, the match-ups were awful, I went from the ability to play any time of day, to only NA prime. Some weeks were karma-train from Sunday-Friday, please.. never again. I’d much rather face the same server week in and week out than go back to 300k leads and full-capped maps. The fights are great right now, we’re having a blast.
I like fighting the same servers over and over, your idea would be great if the other servers in gold league had equal coverage, but it’s not even close. We’re beating JQ by 44k, anyone other than the top 3 and it’d be fullcaps and karma trains. I had enough of that during leagues.
I love playing the same two servers every week, it sure beats the lopsided match-ups we had in leagues, where someone was always up 200k.
30 people isn’t a zerg. I think you’d like t1, bigger blobs but also more of an emphasis on defense. Most of the servers hold and upgrade their stuff, and while waypointed keeps flip due to prolonged 2v1’s, it’s always a hell of a fight.
I’m so relieved. This means most of the pve population that takes up spots and refuses to get on teamspeak will stick to frost-gorge? Hopefully the abysmal rewards will stop a max exodus of transfers to our server, s1 queues were bad enough.
Try hitting the zerg at its tail, instead of at it’s front.

Week 1 was great, the rest of the match-ups were horrible. They need to re-make gold league, either merge some servers or kick them out, the non-t1 servers don’t have the coverage to compete, making it boring for everyone involved.
Please don’t rob us of week 7. We’ve had garbage match-ups since week 1, it’s been soooooo boring. Even with SoR in a depleted state, I’m hoping for fights all week and some semblance of ppt competition.
2v1’s are pretty common across all maps in tier 1. Your zerg isn’t going to take a waypointed keep with an equal sized zerg inside without help.
Agree completely, I want JQ and SoR every single week, rather than a third wheel that can’t hope to compete with our coverage.
That seems pretty asinine, most guilds will run anything but ranger. Hardcore guilds are pretty strict usually on builds and class makeup though, I assume he had prior notice.
That said, his classes were fine. Necro for aoe and boonstrip, ele’s for fields.
I’d love to face JQ & SoR every single week after leagues.
Come to t1. Most towers and keeps are all fully upgraded, scouted and filled with superior siege. Commanders drop offensive pushes for defense all the time, because holding upgraded structures is far more important. 2v1’s are common, because that’s what it takes to flip an upgraded keep with a waypoint and a map-zerg inside.
All that said, the league is killing us. The matchups pre-season 1 were great, intense and ppt/fight driven. Now, boredom.
If you’re in gold league wait for the Thursday karma train.
Week 1 was so intense and fun, I can’t wait until week 7.
They can’t waypoint their keep if they don’t get yaks in.
The league has ruined t1 for me.
T1 is where all the fights are at guys.
Nevermind T1 is 6 servers now, just go to the same 2 or 3. Because 24/7 fights. Fights fights fights.
Oh wait none of the matchups look remotely close whoooops. Fights anyone.
BG/SoR complaining about seeing each other too much? Wait for next season when you roll JQ’s schedule and fight 2 “T2” servers for 5 weeks in a row. Best fights 24/7.
T1 was the best destination for hardcore wvw.. before season 1 started. Now it’s a karma-training boredom fest, except for week 1. I hope week 7 doesn’t disappoint.
Staff guardian for front-line, necro for back.
If we’re purely talking tagging people, go with bigger symbols and consecrations. The symbol is huge, the consecrations do things, but also just add to your tagging ability. Spam staff one and aoe loot, then run in circles, throw symbols and fire fields into places you can’t reach with consecration ground targeting. I’m not sure anything compares.
Deathshroud 4 hits siege on walls without LoS, I think necros are fine.
I don’t think omegas need a buff.
I think JQ got shafted the hardest, 3 weeks of karma-train would bore me to the point of quitting.
Gold/1. Week 1 was fantastic, so I hope week 7 will be the same. Since then things have quickly gone down hill. I only play wvw, and my guild is wvw centric, putting t1 servers against non t1 gold league servers is ridiculous, they can’t compete with coverage and just take an instant third. Our 1v1 with SoR was interesting at the start, but they gave up somewhere in the middle of last week. We’ve almost waypointed their garrison and it’s only Sunday, I’m not really looking forward to a week long karma train.
Basically, I loved what t1 was. Optimal competition basically, now it’s a kitten version of that. 1v1 with a third wheel that can’t win. I don’t envy JQ at all, with three weeks against two non-t1 servers I’d probably quit out of boredom.
Yeah, this 12k lead frightens me, I was bored out of my mind last week, lets not repeat.
My bags fill up too quickly, sometimes I have to break stuff down mid-fight while I’m spamming 1.
#GuardianProblems
Guard – Main, wvw rank 380 (only thing I do.)
Mesmer/Theif/Ele – All 80, all fully geared. Mostly for roaming or off-times when I’m pugging.
Honestly, as a pure wvw player I don’t really care who gets the reward at the end. I’d rather have a rewarding matchup that’s intense and fun. The first week was great, but ticking 4-600+ on SoR and TC is incredibly boring, I’m not looking forward to the next 4 weeks at all. I’d rather just play the other t1 servers every week.
Double-teaming happens in every zone on t1. Taking waypointed and heavily fortified keeps would be a lot harder without it.
Put down your own superior siege, now nobody can kick you off!
It takes a lot of supply and a lot of time to make a waypoint, maybe you guys should consider controlling resources. As for in-keep sieges, develop the co-ordination to group up and slaughter them when they waypoint in, problem solved. I love those 20 minute lords room fights where the defending team is constantly porting and there’s a triad of map zergs inside. (I play guardian.)
You belong in tier 1. 24/7 coverage, where 80% of each zone is in teamspeak. This week was a blast, the matchup was so close that even 1k points was a huge lead, up until we made a huge push at the end. The downsides are pretty obvious though, long queues since everyone’s involved. (20m-1hr+ na primetime.) And horrendous smc-esque skill lag during huge keep threeways.
That said, I think the leagues are a poor idea. I don’t need cutesy rewards to force me into wvw, it’s the only aspect of the game I enjoy. I wouldn’t mind fighting the other t1 servers every single week, as-is, there’s going to be some huge point disparities over the next 7 weeks. Most lower-tiered servers won’t be able to deal with the coverage.
