I dont think the OP understands that part of why our server is as strong as it is (without being one of the big dedacated wvw severs) is in large part due to our RP comunty and thus the tc comunity as a hole
Good thing the next few big updates all focus on the content and quality of life stuff wed already have. Or at lest thats what i gatherd from the one devs post ( i would quote it if i wasnt on my phone at work on brake right now)
Dungeons have gotten much easyer now that people understand. Combat better and thay have fixed manny of the bugs.
It dosnt help that your coming back right after the big Christmas event and it seems after every event the next few days has a bit of player down time (as people get back to dealing with the rest of there real life)
With this game, I’d just be glad if they held off the expansion for 3 months and concentrate on squishing all the kitten bugs! That would get me back into the game far quicker then new bugs… I mean content.
Did you even read the devs post. All t-his new “content” focusas on improving and makeing what we already have better
Ok you named one class out of 8 lol…..So everyone must reroll Elementalis? That’s not really a viable suggestion. Also if you had to adjust for growth of the game you just gotta suck that up. I’m pretty sure people would concur that they take growth over worrying about one mouse.
people have a hard enough time understanding there skills as is ((and the combo systome.. O_O )) and you want to give them more
I like the dodging in this game, gives it a bit of a console game feeling. However I am not really a big fan of the downscaling of my character when entering certain zones. I don’t like going back to being weak when I worked hard to get strong. Maybe that’s just me though.
Yeah it feels like a fighting game,
and down scaling dosnt make you that week I still facerole lower level mobs because my gear is so much better
That is not the only reason. If you have the bug I do, you can see through the world sometimes and see the HUGE objects used to make a tiny wall. I’m talking tip of the iceberg scenarios where mountain sized rocks are used to make tiny ledges the size of an asura. It’s all the geometry your PC is processing that you don’t even see that is contributing to that fps loss in caves.
the see through wall bug is actualy a problem with the video drivers your running, you may want to get newer one’s
I have also encounterd Players that Die in a fight seemingly because they walked away from there PC so its me and 3 others left to finish up
This is soooo discouraging to me and others like me. I’ve been casual about GW2 for a while, and because of that, I haven’t been doing anything other than story mode on dungeons. However, I’ve got coordinated run (3/6/8/12 person) experience in GW and Lotro. Now, I’m switching my focus to GW2 and was looking forward to running with experienced folks to get up to speed on dungeons here.
But, if the skilled players are headed this way…. Maybe I missed the boat.
my guilds more than willing to teach as are many players in the game i think
just dont head into dungeons with full magic fined gear and i think you should be ok
Get a Guild of like minded people
the humans in CM Path 3 >_> who ever made that should be shot.
there is planty of group content there is just no good large scale group content. we dont needs raids persay but we do need somthing to replace rade’s ((with all the GW2 standers of every one getting there own loot at the end ETC))
this really isnt about end game the game has planty of end game for small groups, this is about Big(ish) Guild ((such as mine)) content. we want somthing that more than just five at a time can do together. other than zerging area’s of orr or for kitten loot
Yup agree to disagree. I just wonder why you think Anet who managed to evolve pretty much everything else in the genre would screw up raids so badly.
My problem isn’t with ANet.
Well since you dont want to share exactly why it is you dont want raiding then I cant tell you a way to make it not effect you. So far the only one that cant be fully argued is dev time taken which tbh is up to Anet to decide whats best. Were just requesting something, they decide whether what were asking for is valid.
Traditional raiding wouldnt work ((mostly do to the combat system)) but I for one am all for some sort of large guild/team Tower attack/defend instance setting with waves of enimies that get harder in difaculty with each wave.
the only thing that make’s raids suck in other MMO is its the only way to get the best gear and not everyone always gets rewarded at the end….. GW2 dosnt have to do that
yeah world PVE is way differant than Dungeon PVE, sadly the best way to role in World PVE is just Damage Damage and more Damage
I can only figger the people that make threads like this and the people that saport it can not handle doing more than one thing at a time
You do relize that manny of us actualy enjoy the fact that we are more accountable for our own survivability and we are not completely dependent on some magic healer to stay on our feet.
You’re looking at it the wrong way. It’s not about shirking responsibility to another player… but rather the variety of gameplay that option provides.
The problem with “everyone is accountable” is that “everyone does the same thing” which brings us back to the original problem – no variety in combat and no organized and strategized team play whatsoever.
Thats bull though a play with a group of friends in a guild most of us stick to the same groups. Our builds are ment to work off one anouther to be more effectiven and we each take up a role in combat
My shout warrior in cleric gear would like a word with you.
Can he single-handedly keep your dungeon group alive?
Thought so.
You do relize that manny of us actualy enjoy the fact that we are more accountable for our own survivability and we are not completely dependent on some magic healer to stay on our feet.
Tanking stats – tanking gear – tanking traits: check
Healing stats – healing gear – healing traits: checkProduces results like farts in a hurricane…
Damage stats – damage gear – damage traits: check
Just build a character the way you like. It is all in the game. You can have all the trinity you want…
Like Ford said, you can get your model T in any color as long as it’s black.
Dont give me that i play a shout heal warrior and I am extremly effective at keeping my teams on there feet. (Or getting them back up faster with a trate i have)
This game has role’s to play and other things to focus on than damage to do well. The only diff in this game even the best healer has to do his share of dammage to the target(s) as well
would you rather they be the most usefull thing ever and make it so you feel like you MUST have it.
when your trying to avoude Pay to win, i dont think thats the way to do it
As the topic states, if you no longer WvW what keeps you from logging in? Just interested in what drives people away from this feature.
Because there is no sense of server community and rivalry. If you work on a server and make it awesome like HoD and BG back at launch then you’ll just be swapped with band-wagoners. So it’s actually better for your server to not do as well. Also with unlimited server transfers you can move servers every week depending on what your looking for.
In better games such as those made by Blizzard your servers have an identity. Some good some bad. Tichondrius is probably one of the best PvP servers out there. And you will get a sense of rivalry on the forums etc. Between Darkspear, Tich, KT, Illidan etc. You don’t have people flipping back and forth every other week.
In GW2 the whole sense of server identity is kind of meh. Honestly the forums provide more entertainment then the game itself.
PS. Another thing is in WoW you can actually get your best PvP gear through PvP. Unlike GW2 that you get the best gear through grinding PvE instances.
right… exsept that bit about the best PVP gear in PVP isnt true in wow any more
and have actualy been to the WVW forums most of the people there love and enjoy there sever community……. well unless there server sucks
and we shouldnt forget the monthly update’s we have had 3 so far and there are 3 more for the next 3 months we no about with new content and new stuff to earn
there’s no end game. The only end game content i can think of is standing in a city like LA afk, that’s gw2’s end game.
standing in Stormwind / orgrimmar and being afk is boring and not cool places at all
Lion arch is atleast much cooler place to afk Plus its more fun
Difference is in WoW there are actual things to do when not AFKing in Stormwind/Orgrimmar. GW2 doesn’t have the luxury of things to entertain it’s players at level 80.
It does not have anything to entertain “YOU” and other players that might have your same mindset as to how this game or any other MMO for that matter must play.
It has more than enough content post 80 for other players that want something different such as myself.
I just do not get how you cannot understand this.
Do you like to listen to the same music that your mother does? Do you like all the same foods that your friends like? Do you prefer salty snacks or would you rather have a piece of chocolate?
Do you see my point yet?
Yeah, we see your point. But just like we don’t want to listen to the same music our mother does, we don’t want to spend our level 80 experience doing jump puzzles.
what about mini world Dungeons …..
Endgame is:
For PVE: Legendaries, fractals, shiny stuff.
For Story/PVE: Kill the hell outa Zhaitan.
For sPVP: Reach rank <insert idk what number here>
For WvW: Rule everything.Yep, I looove it <3
you could also count all the kitten under that achevment tab in your hero panel
I dont get what people consider end game??? because if its not just 10 man raids GW2 has EVERYTHING ells that other MMO’s have for end game (( and more if you count JP achements and such))
and if your looking for hard content Fractals at level 50+ you also ALWAY’S get pretty epic lootz at that point, if you cant get groups warm your way into a hardcore fractal running guild ((should be easyer after this months update))
(edited by UnderdogSMO.9428)
just a bunch of EX wow and GW1 fnas who dont jive with GW2 style
Group PvE in this game is an absolute clusterfudge. No other way to put it.
Lack of a holy trinity is good for a soloist game. Oddly, my soloing chars in traditional Trinity games do a better job soloing with NO heals at all than my Wars here do.. with heals. Good concept.. implementation is pretty fail.
I agree that any class should somewhat be able to fill any role.. but.. give them the tools. Nobody can heal spec enough to heal. Nobody can dps spec enough to take aggro. All we have is a pile of players doing their own thing, good or bad, and hoping something dies. The only fundamentally useful group centric skill is the rez, tbh, because it is obvious and can only be used the “right” way, (mostly)
Combos are accidental. CC is random and sometimes detrimental. Other things just come out of the blue.. like having a boss tied up and pounding on it with my War, only to have some idiot knock it halfway across the zone for no other reason than the skill was up.
Lack of any role means every group encounter in the world is like a Pug from hell. No one is learning anything. Everyone just runs up and unloads. It is sooo fun being in the middle of pwning a projectile reflecting boss..and having 3 rangers and an engineer run up and unload every projectile skill they possess and kill everyone but the boss. Roles tend to make people think about wth they are doing in a group.
thats more of a problem with Player’s not so much the game (unless we just talking about in the open world) If a player is to stupid to stop shooting when the Boss use’s a reflection skill how is that the game’s falt
I find myself starting to wonder if the problem is control, or lack of suck, of the battlefield. Tanking is in a sense about control, being able to control who the mobs focus on. Or similarly deny them the ability to do certain things.
But with the aggro mechanic being a virtual black box – join one PUG and you can’t shake the mob no matter how much you try, join another and you find the exact same mob ignoring you completely – and what controls we have, interrupts, usually being on long cooldowns – making them timing of their use a life or death issue – the players end up having a distinct lack of control over the battle.
End result is that we are fighting on the mobs terms, rather than our own. For some that may be exciting, and i would not want to deny them the right to do things that way if they so choose, but for others it becomes a real frustration.
For an example outside of the dungeons, i can’t really deal with more than one mob aggroing me by locking down most of them while dealing with one. I have to deal with them all constantly or i find myself back at a waypoint with damaged armor.
End result is that i learn that if i want to get anything done i need to find ways to dump a massive amount of AOE damage on them in a short amount of time. This because i can’t really compensate for lack of AOE via crowd controls.
my guild has become extreamly good at useing things like Fears and knock backs to closter mobs together than seround them ((takeing back control)) and makeing short work of them
Welcome! hope you have a grate time
now run! run as far as you can from the Forums and never come back. befor its to late…
FLY YOU FOOL!!!!
so your mad because you are not any good at this game and your giveing up because you don’t understand how to play
you know we herd alot of this when the game was in beta, even i got faceroled by mobs early on… now though when makeing alts and such i crush all the early level content
Spawn camping??? Theres 3 ways out of the spawn
Considering i am still playing and enjoying the game. Yes
And i got to say just because you can zerg dps the boss dosnt mean its the best way my guild likes to come out with 0 deaths and more silver than what we started with. Insted of bunch of repair bills
You make like… 70s per dungeon run on average. Do you really die so much in a dungeon that that isn’t enough?
I dont but the way some players kitten about gold and such it really sounds like they do. I mean i consider myself average at best but than i have run with some freaking god awefull pugs.
It’s silly really, they guy with 800 gold or whatever (the ones that need the big sinks) aren’t really effected at all by a few silver here or there, But the “lesser” player, with a couple gold to his name is the one to calculate these to losses.
So you’re saying that the more money I have, the more I don’t mind seeing a few losses? Wow, that sounds exactly as it should. I don’t see how that’s silly.
OP, I guess I can’t really relate because I don’t really have this problem, but I recommend not waypointing as much, The game world really is beautiful if you take the time to walk.
. You also level faster and get to see DEs you might have missed (also makeing more cash)
And i got to say just because you can zerg dps the boss dosnt mean its the best way my guild likes to come out with 0 deaths and more silver than what we started with. Insted of bunch of repair bills
This systome works just fine the only people that have a problem with it dont understand or are not good at it
at least humans have Hounds of balthazar my suggestion DO NOT GO ENGINEER you ll regret it deeply, also what server you at ?
Bha Rezzet is right if the only thing you care about is Big numbers for attacks but Engi’s have a hell of alot more utilaty than warriors and if you actually understand how role’s work in this game thats a big deal.
then include npc kills in WvW towards monthly. im happy to take 100 kills vs invaders, my arguement is for those ppl that are all vs npc… i have friends that hate pvp in anyway. and WvW is PvP whatever way u try to sell it. to get kills u need to kill PvP opponents.
or just AOE the crap out of area’s were other people are doing the real killing… thats somthing even the worst PVEer can handle
This is going to draw in alot of hate for this monthly ~ bad bad anet
Funny thing is I think there well aware of that, And i also think thats awesome :P
Instead of promoting teamwork it does the complete opposite. It encourages less people to fufill their role as a support and more people to just be all out dps, it causes people to think why revive heal and actually help my teammate when I can kill the nearest thing to allow him to get up.
Isn’t this, like, the intention of the game? The entire reason GW2 is so popular is that nobody has to be support any more…
And yet there is a large population that enjoys supporting. Seeing as that actually makes a lot of us feel like we are useful to our team.
Gotta agree i always enjoyed support over DPS, anyone can build a dps build but Support now that is something to behold, sadly GW2 thinks support is a dirty word…
I personally like rallying because of how this game is so unbalanced at least i have a shot at getting back up, with help mostly, 1 hit kills would make the game unplayable..
Dont give me that, I role a Heal Shout warrior with mostly Monk Runes, although yes I do my fair Bit of Damage but if my main focus isn’t support than I’m not doing my job.
The rally mechanic is a unique and intentional design paradigm that really sets GW2 combat apart from other MMOs. It is not a band-aid to “save the terrible players” from a “broken system that lets you die too quick”. Rally is there because it makes combat interesting. Period. Survivability and damage levels seem to be tuned with rally in consideration.
You might believe PvE is too easy with rally, but have you considered that the problem is simply that there is no challenging PvE yet?
there was but every one sucked at combat when the game first came out so thay nerfed it. Now that people have a better understanding of how combat works I’m hopeing to see harder content
My problem that I’ve noticed with rally is that if you rally, become downed, and rally again in the span of 5 seconds or less, you still get death penalty for both downed (or more) states which means you will die faster.
working as intended.
What the game needs is more cohesive means to work together as a team to prevent ever hitting the dirt in the first place. The current downed and rally system feels more like a bandaid fix to the problems that cause you to die so easily in the first place.
this game has a more cohesive means to do just that…. thing is a group needs to be built for it, and frankly most pugs suck at it. this is way me and my quildy’s always say “keep it in the Guild” when running dungeons and such Because we understand how useful fields and such are. ((a necro who puts down fields that regen and let you life steal will easily keep you on your feet. mix that with a Mesmer’s time warp thing and smash down mobs quick))
what made him blow off GW2 anyway? he was hardcore into it pre-release.
He said something about GW2 the viewers didn’t like. As a result, he was flooded with angry people. He called them rtards and quit showing GW2 – was around the final betas.
Didn’t sound like him. Link?
man i watch his stuff all the time. sounds exactly like him. and he didnt get to play it much and was a little disapointed in it, ((from last weeks game’s station pod cast))
Between, does Angry Joe still play Guild Wars 2?
He must as this video just came out today. I would think so if he’s giveing it Number 1
he’s also Not as Jaded as TB when it come’s to video game’s

My guild has only gotten bigger, kinda sucks because the plan was only to go for a 50 man guild but we had to rase our cap to let more in because friends and family have started playing
This is good news I play on TC so its really hard for new people to join my server.
Still pounding my fist on my desk in anger and demand for a reward!
Get over it man Its a Easter Egg Bassed on Lagand of Zelda: ocarina of time.
just seeing the chickens is its own little reward for knowing what there based on.
If you want something difficult and frustrating try the Necro or Engineer.
man people say that but my guild leader is a Bleed/lifesteal Necro. and she may not be all that when it come’s to single combat when it come’s to group play her Fields keep all of us alive with there lifesteal and Regan and she has easily the most servivabilaty of ANY ONE i have ever seen play
