as far as we know there isnt one any time soon. the last one was just a weekend thing and went on dering the Karka event.
let him play your copy for a day, and see if he thinks its worth getting
Hay lothefallen how many time’s are you going to post on this same subject. its well known by any one who come’s to the forums regularly that you dont like GW2 style of combat.
And I have a Role I may be a combat healer but my main focus is still a HEALER I specked out for it if i didn’t i wouldn’t do much healing at all ((if any actually))
I would argue you just dont have any imagination. rainbow hand sines
Snip
Dude its a video game there all a “waste of time” unless your like winning esport level stuff getting sponsored and making cash or playing them for some sort of job. I dont care if your playing some supper competitive level game or a friendly coop game. Its still just a game with you infront of a pc eating chips and getting fat and the only thing that matters is if your enjoying yourself…… alot of people enjoy this game the way it is and the direction that its going.
As for the op I am in a vary socil guild (only about 50 of us) most of the people didnt know each other when we started but we have all become friends and chat and joke and talk all the time.
I also find plenty of people to talk to if im the one to start the conversation. Its almost like every one is just shy. shrug

well if you can get your daylys done in WvW than you would be getting what you need in order to unlock the acended gear Right?
I agree, although most GW1 players won’t. I do miss the drive to get better gear, and the teamwork needed to raid. I really miss feeling a part of a team like I felt in WoW.
Luckily for you, there’s a convenient list of MMOs that are heavily based on raiding that you can play instead of GW2.
I hate coments like this you asume that thoughs other MMO’s also do everything ells like gw2 than???
theres a tone of stuff people like about this game that it dose differently than other MMO’s its lack of raiding is vary low on that list of why people like this game
alot of what GW2 dose right could be moved into a bigger team focused instance ((ever one gets gear, the gear is no better than what you get in the world, Guilds get points for guild stuff like skins, or guilds get to mount big ugly dragon heads on the walls of there upcomeing guild halls ETC))
(edited by UnderdogSMO.9428)
The vocal masses wanted instanced dungeon grinding for better gear.
How depressing. If ArenaNet is going to appease these players with a gear treadmill, they should’ve kept it out of WvW. Even making ascended items available in WvW sucks; it means you have to play for hundreds of hours just to get optimal gear for a new build.
-well considering there gear progression is ment to come at much slower pace than that of a game like wow and that I enjoy this game I don’t really have a problem with this New cosmetic gear or new state based gear im going to spend my time getting it and looking for things to do and ways to progress my character ((wether it be cosmetic or not)) so the only people who should really havea problem with this are the one’s that just dont enjoy the content.
If you can enjoy the content there giveing you Who care’s
its kinda there stick as well, A-net has alway’s described them as getting stronger the closer they are to death
Thanks for all the help. How are you guys soloing event champions? Are you kiting?
Kite, move, dodge at the right time, block at the right time, and more often than not one player should be able to take out five or so trash mobs at level
Too much stubbornness here… I won’t class anything as a mount unless it’s permanent with a speed boost.
thats a really narrow minded way to look at things man. with way points being a thing what exactly would you gane by said speed boost.
At best it should only be a temp speed boost like that of the warhorn.
NO! No mounts! Can we all just stop talking about this?
Dude one day there will be mounts, its to easy to monatize ((they could make more bank)) and there’s just to much call for it.
If implemented correctly (some GW2 kinda way) it will not brake your game and it will not make it less fun. Deal with it.
We moved to a different server.. problem solved.
Clan master was peeved beacuse it canceled all our guild points but what can you do… oh well.
I was going to warn you about influence not transferable between servers. Look at it this way, with a dozen or so active players, the influence comes back as soon as you guys starts to do things together.
I hope once guesting is here, you can just simply “guest” to JQ and get all that was there… Influence stays on the server that’s earned.
also with the upcomeing content there was talk about the “guild Missons”
“adjustments to side-kicking balancing” Anyone know what this means?
Also, I am very excited for these Quaggan backpacks. This may make me buy something from the gem store for the first time ever. Hopefully you can wear them everywhere, not just towns. Would be awesome to see them in wvw!
there are some skills and such that are actualy MUCH stronger when being sidekicked up
im alright with ground mounts (( Waypoints already make the world small)) but they have to be done in a way that fits GW2 ((changing your first five skills and such))
if your trying to get rare gear you know you can get it with all the dungeon tokens you have colected. than ((if you beend spending like you say you have)) its easy to just bust them down into the ecto’s and sell them
granted ecto’s are RNG as well but its something
I recently actually went and tried working out how long it would take for me to make a Legendary item. (Note: I only play 1~2 hours a day)
The result made me want to cut myself…
I ended up thinking about other neat items I’ve seen, and found this.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mystic_Forge/Other_Items (The weapon recipes)
There are a variety of neat looking Exotic weapons that can be made in the mystic forge. They don’t have the fancy graphics of a Legendary, but some of their models like the Abyssal Scepter, Firebringer, and Wintersbark are really sweet looking.
Working on these will be much easier then the blasted Legendaries.—
Quite frankly, I think ANet should upgrade some of these to Ascended tier, so more players can know about them. They’re a much more reasonable goal for the casual player looking to shiny-Up their set.
well there are no ascended tier wepons yet and when they do add them there will probably be some you can craft in the forge i would think
1/ Get exotic gear with at least 1 defensive stat
2/ solo OrrGL HF
Orr is not an easy zone. It is not meant to be an easy zone. As long as you have mostly exotics, it is very much doable. Don’t run, you’re much better off killing most mobs you cross.
thats true and were me and my group have vary little trobel with it we do spend alot of our time just runing past mobs and takeing the dammage they deal. there not hard, thay dont slow us down much, and there loot isnt worth it
so I am all for thining them out a bit.
=D thought this would have been a big deal to many, considering the number of times I have seen people talk about Orr not being any fun because of the mob density, and the zones going unused because of that reason.
/shrug
It is just as we all know. most people dont come on the forums to post about posative stuff and the trolls wont tuch it because there’s vary little nagative they can say about it.
It’s an easy mistake to make when just starting dungeons, but it is a mistake on your end.
I would be fine with a suggestion to ANet that they change the names of the rare versions of the armor. But I do not think a refund is warranted as you had the ability to preview the armor and make a decision.
It’s misleading as hell. If this was a product from a store, I would be entitled to a lawsuit. Since it’s an online item, i’m entitled to other forum goers insisting i’m behaving entitled.
with the preview function its not really all that misleading dude.
its not like you couldn’t see that what you were buying was not what you wanted
with this option you killed random party’s in the game
And thats okey. Explorable dungeons ment to be hard and for skilled groups. Not for randoms full of not coordinated players
They are not for random party’s who just waypont rush bosses. So what is the problem?
So for people like me who has all of his friends quit the game within the first three months, such just stop doing dungeons because I don’t have people to do them with. Ok then so your basically telling me to get into a skilled group or quit.
You could always join an unskilled group. Or a group thats a mix who are not elitist (most guilds ever) and make some new friends.
My pc was about 600 run everything at max…. 40 to 60 fps.
If your talking about the culling problem that is confermed to be working on and we will see part of that fix on the 28th. It is requiring them to completly rewright how character render on the screen.
Each time you enter combat movement speed is reduced. I’ll never understand why this game has this mechanic. It’s horrible. Whenever my Norn enters combat, is like watching a giant 500kg bag of potatos move around the map. If you have no speed blessings, of course …
I hate this mechanic with a passion. I wish they would just take it out of the game.
With movment being such a facter in combat it stands to reason that doing this would brake the game
Me and my large active guild have been on since the beta’s still enjoying this game emansly. Will be playing it for some time. You will relize most of the people that really kitten are the same people every time. If it wouldnt get me in trubel i could name a bunch of them from the top of my head.
Considering this game has sold way more than thay expected i think there fine
I doubt thats the thing to consider. D3 sold out huge amount of copies also thou its completely crappy game.
On the other hand they say that player base is slowly but steady growing up.. is that true, hard to say. They wont announce rapid drop in player database for sure if one would take a place. That would only create snowball effect for them.
Not so hard when you work in a retail store and you have to keep restocking the hard copys when we get them in.
And as for D3 isnt an MMO never was an MMO and blizz kittened up when trying to sell it like one ((and giveing it an MMOs gear passeing)) and dont get me started on the holeselling gear for real cash thing (real ptw)
Dude the RMT corrupting GW2 is in yout head and probably has something to do with some self-conscious need to have it all.
I dont get to play this game nearly as much as i would like and yet my gear is full exotics i am able to play ALL facters of this game, athere than a bag and bank slot i havnt used the BLC for jack, i have 4 minie pets, and because i have plenty and didnt need it i just donated 10 gold to my guild bank
Also remamber you can NOT gest to a FULL sever
Shouldn’t the resources put on the AE-damage balancing rather be put on class reworks? Thieves are still a very unfinished class, warriors very bad in sPvP, some weapon sets are useless or badly designed (sword OH warrior, double pistol thief), so why focusing on something which the majority of the players has no problem with? It just seems silly. Is Anet disconnected that much from the game? Or should I play more to see the huge problem with the AE damage?
You do know that logicly working on both aoe and single target could do alot to chage this
I agree that scaling an AoE damage vs the number affected is probably the best way to go about this. In return AoEs should be allowed to hit slightly more targets.
Yeah…. cuz if I set a bomb off in a group, it’s only gonna do full damage to one guy, the rest get off with a bruising…… try dodging if you don’t want to get hit with AOE. I see ppl do it all the time…… come to think of it, I do too.
Well yeah the closer you are to an explotion the more it rips you apart. Also this is a video game.
And you could also say its far easyer to dodge single target.
Considering this game has sold way more than thay expected i think there fine
^^ anouther resone why i dont use auto attack.
As for the OP there are skills and suck like that of the warriors shield that nagate all damage nd can be used when evading is needed but you might role off a cliff
You can easily see your party member’s hp. You can see their location on the map. You can see waypoints set on the map by party members. You can ping/draw on the map for your party to see. You get access to party chat, which is in a rather pretty blue. You can more easily see the location of a party member whilst in a zerg situation due to the bluification of their name.
Question! For skills that can only affect a limited amount of people, and there are more than that limit in your skill’s range, with your party member(s) among them, will it prioritize affecting your party member(s) before affecting others? I’d assume the answer to be a no based on how Merciful Intervention tended to affect NPCs or even inanimate objects before your party members before they changed that specific skill, but is anyone sure?
Yes it dose prioritize party members be the first to get any of the skills
That was confermed some time ago so i dont have a link any more but me and my guildys use it to our advantag all the time
Larg group focused instanced tower defense that scells up like the fractals. With use of sige equipment and such
. Bam
its also much easyer to go Melee when you hit max level and can really flush out the build you want to use
Well this is the case in every MMO I believe, melee will have it tougher most of the time yes. So yeah, ranged will be safer :P
this is only not as true because of how AI and Player targiting work in other MMO’s, more often than not if your tank is pulling agro right in other MMO’s its not hard to stay out of the way as a Melee DPS in other game’s
As the title says, i cant find any good end game stuff. Map exploring isnt my style, going to dungeons is, cause its hard to find a group, and i dont like to level a new character.
Seriously what should i do ? its kinda ending boring now.
Get in a Guild, also more stuff inbound with the Jan/Feb/march updats
Ya, what this guy said – it’s always “the stuff that’s coming we promise!”
/boggle
well im actually enjoying the game as it is ((im only here now because its almost time for work)) but never the less there is more content ((with a grater level 80 focus)) comeing down the pipe line
like every MMO ever, being in a guild helps its longgevity
There is nothing epic about GW2. 5 man parties are lame, even in GW1 we had 8-12 man parties. ANet makes the same exact mistakes Blizz did with D3. Made the party size smaller and the game nothing but a boring grind, taking nothing what made D2 that special favorite of many. They literally scrapped everything from GW1. I don’t even see a hint of lore honestly, except for that one part where trahearne talks about the Guild Wars extremely briefly around level 50 I think it is?
1st off D1 and D2 had mostly a single player focused fan base ((although multie play was a good option))
and as for GW2 lore you can see plently of Lore all over the world, than ((as i think i have told you befor)) the Destiny’s edge story often go’s back to GW1 even so far as to talk about Glint.
as for the bit about not seeing it much in your story. why the hell if WW3 is going down would i spend much time talking about WW2.
((and than there is the hole fact that for many the GW world and lore is brand new and to throw all the lore at them from GW1 would probably seem over welming. ))
As the title says, i cant find any good end game stuff. Map exploring isnt my style, going to dungeons is, cause its hard to find a group, and i dont like to level a new character.

Dude when aoe deals just as much dammage as single target. Yes it needs to be nerfed.
And as for the OP do you realy need stelth to run past mobs? What are you talking about?
Blackgate is wvw. Tarnished cost is were you want to be
well for there dayls thay have said ((when they add the pic 4 out of 6 thing)) there going to be adding things like Kag Brawl to the daylies ((that in BTW)) >_>
Both.
My server’s a bit dead, I have no problem finding groups but I miss the crowds of people in zones. There are plenty of servers that are still bustling but my friends are here, and 3 million sold or not I still have people to play with.
you do know not haveing crowds of people in all zone’s in a larg open world
MMO isnt that uncommon I mean hell WOW full server’s there PLENTY of empty space
Player and vary happy, that said my guild of about 50+ Im the only one that post on the forums
I’m just going to say that I find it interesting that they’re supposedly wanting to nerf all aoe because they’re listening to “our” feedback, but ever since they made the announcement I can’t seem to find any comments at all from players who agree with and are happy about their decision. Have they all slunk away, satisfied to gloat in private?
JonathanSharp
“Just wanted to let you guys know that we’re reading this thread.
Your logic, reasons, anecdotes and ideas are being listened to. Also keep in mind, that as I said yesterday, a skill can be a balance problem in one area of the game, but underpowered in another. That’s the nature of using one set of #‘s to balance across all areas of the game. So we’re keeping that in mind as we look at this. We may need to do different tweaks in different areas of the game.
We’re also not going to make a knee jerk reaction to this. We’re still gathering data, watching player trends, and having meetings on all possible ramifications from possible changes.
Some classes have a ton of AOE, while others don’t have as much. So we’re not just going to do a blanket nerf to all AOE – that’s not fair to all classes. We’ll go on a class by class, weapon by weapon basis.
And as I’ve said, we may need to tone something down in one area of the game, but it may be totally fine in another area.
For some weapon sets, the AOE options may be too strong compared to the single target options, which is what we aim to address."
Not all AOE
The only reason I assume this though is because he specifically mentioned waypoint zerging to be an issue,
An issue for whom? This is PvE how can it be an issue except for more uncompromising players.
“only way to beat some of the difficult encounters at the moment is to have dead players run back from nearby waypoints while players that are alive kite the mobs)”
That’s the issue.
Really so what, if a group wants to do that who does it hurt?
It’s just plain poor game design, getting rewarded for playing poorly. It just brings the game down.
You’re not catering to ‘casuals’ then, you’re catering to ‘entitled’ gamers who think that they have the right to complete the dungeon, regardless of how poorly they play.
the problem with that is that, me and my guild can run this stuff no problem smash it out no one die’s its awesome
I join a PUG and BAM im the one with the most servivabuilty and there going down like flys
no more puging for me it seems
I never killed killed by thieve’s any more (not directly) but man if there not good at running away when thay relize thay cant spike me down
However, I think the stat is totally bull to have. We players should be rewared by using skills, building our characters in a way that increase our strenght in one way or the other, and loot drops should be given out if you managed to beat the enemy, not given some extra chance because you got a stat that increase rare loot drops, it’s just so bull in my opinion.
Well you are sacrificing a stat helping with survivability, so shouldn’t you be rewarded more for managing to survive with less toughness and survivability? In my opinion in order to have MF gear you have to accept that you’re sacrificing something and that’s why the rewards are increased.[/quote]
thats Fine for solo play but not in a group
How about instead of the whole guesting system as it is now, you rethink the approach in order to make everyone happy?
Allow free server transfers once every 24 hours, but no WvWvW on the server you did not choose as home server.
Allow server transfers with WvWvW every…. idk, 7 days, free or for gems, whatever.
Stop restricting players in features that were already available, just because you can’t get something to work you wanted to implement and advertised without the restrictions that are now in place. This is honestly entirely ridiculous. Make the choice of Home Server bound to WvWvW and allow server hopping regardless of Home Server. Something. Anything.
Just don’t even pretend like the way you’re implementing guesting now is anything like what it was communicated to be in the beginning and what the free server hopping already offered.Exactly. And I know we’re in the minority, but it’ll also tear the RP community apart – there are two unofficial RP servers, Tarnished Coast and Piken Square. Removing our ability to hop between them to participate in events and such is devastating :/
yeah because bein able to join TC always work…. you know exsept for the fact that it was ALWAYS FULL
The latest blog post already addressed these concerns with these quotes:
“Expanded and re-designed encounters for bosses in dungeons and the open world.”
“Guilds are extremely important to the game. We need to ensure there is a volume of content to foster this strong community/social bond. To that end, we’re working on adding new types of content to the game in early 2013 that will allow guilds to go on missions together. Some of these missions may be content designed specifically for the guild to accomplish within certain constraints or time requirements, while others will see the creation of new content by a guild/s everyone in the world can experience. Over time we’ll continue to expand this system with new guild rewards, missions, and tools to allow guilds of all sizes to play a stronger part in solidifying the communities of the GW2 world.”
As a person that’s played this game for 900+ hours, I think the core game plays just fine. My only problem with the game is that for most of the mobs in the open world, you can essentially use the same strategy to defeat them, which makes the open world feel very repetitive at times.
In the future, I’d like to see much different varieties of mobs that involve different strategies to defeat, much like the Karka we saw at Southsun Cove. However, I don’t expect these changes to come until a major expansion come out.
Hopefully, with these early 2013 changes, we can hopefully expect some of the really gigantic world bosses to be re-designed so they become more difficult and actually fun to do. I’d be content with seeing the starter area meta-bosses not go down in like less than five minutes.
These guild missions sound very intriguing too, and I’d very much like to see group events in the open world that require real coordination to do with like 20+ people, much like the Temple of Bathlazaar boss event.
Thanks for the contribution, i too am interested in these guild events, but it seems like they will just be achievements for fastest dungeon clears or races for existing content completion. This is not something i want in GW2. This is something that belongs in WoW and bringing it here just shows a lack of creativity in my opinion.
On another note, i’d like to see mob difficulty and depth scaled up as well. Maybe some areas will have roaming mobs that require a group of player coordination to take out, much like GW1. This would foster more structure and group integrity in the content with just a simple series of number tweaks. Anything that gets people playing together in a meaningful, engaging way.
I still think the combat / skills / traits systems need to be expanded along with these changes if this game hopes to bring in more players down the road.
I want to fight you and the group you run with some day, see how well you actually understand this game’s combat.
I dont think its a problem with the class’s i think its a problem with the World mobs. I mean there is good reson why i like Warrior, thief and Mesmer, and why i don’t like Gard, elie and Ranger in PVE content ((have yet to try necro, but i dont think thats my thing ether))
WvW is a ridiculous monkey zergfest and any gamer that comes from a mmo that has REAL open world pvp would laugh at it. Who even gives a flying **** wheter your world wins or not . In a few days it starts again anyway. and you gain nothing no matter what you did. Not to mention those towers that are repainted 10 times a day.
You fight, fight and fight, but for what? For some abstract points that appear at the top of your screen? Very interesting.
If that’s your attitude, then why play sports? It’s all for some abstract numbers on board, right? Why read books? They are just some words on paper, right?
I like competition. My guild and my server gets out there and plays to win the match. We play to win the battles. We don’t always win, but we try like heck.
he also seems to forget the better you do the more % go up on things like drop rates and such. so the better your server dose the more points you get, over all adds to how well your sever dose in the grande economy
this is a big part of why TC keeps fighting even when were in last. we push this way of thinking on our server.
