like 7 ppl with 4 arrow carts defending garrison vs. 30+ ET zerg in the last mins before reset and pushing them back

30+ ET Zerg? Nope. Sorry, I get that you want to sympathize or whatever, but the reality is, ET even on our best times could barely break 20, much less 30, not to mention that we were vastly over powered by SF, so to even entertain sending that kind of force to FC BL would be pure fantasy,

Even if we even had that many on the field, we would have been focusing on making our own borders.. ours again. So, not to burst too many bubbles but going full force after FC like that was simply not possible thanks to SF’s indomitable presence on the field.

The reality is, HoD has opted to do whatever, and that is what they will do. I don’t believe they boycotted anything.

Like many on ET, they are, I hope enjoying South Sun cove and realize that WvW is just an enjoyable distraction, and if this week they want to crab toss as opposed to camp flip, then there is nothing wrong with that, I know I have been spending a lit more time in PvE thanks to the Flame&Frost and now Southsun, and I am not alone.

Quick question for the thieves out there.. it seems only fitting that some ranger pets should be able to detect stealth (due to heightened senses). How exactly would you feel if these pets broke your stealth in a 3000 range around the ranger? So essentially you now see a ranger in each small group.. or one in a group escorting yaks..

This would be a brilliant solution, a Spotter Pet for a Ranger, maybe a very low DPS pet. So that a ranger can in fact Track a thief or sense them.

Thus there would be a class in the game that could in effect counter the stealth, and iirc, it would be the only other Medium armor class, which would be fitting that a ranger could counter a thief.

I love this idea.. make it so Anet!

To be honest ET has an overflow in Southsun, so we are PvEing just as much as anyone else, and maybe a bit more so. But, I have to admit, running nakked though HoD BL while it is owned totally by ET is beyond temping.

Anyway, as for ways to play WvW. Sorry, that might be the only activity you engage in, or only way you want to play, but any serious WvW players knows you need to be able to handle whatever comes your way, and do it well.

That means dealing with gank groups to full scale siege fights. At the end of the day, sure, some people don’t want to play “Those other parts” , which is fine by me if they want to limit themselves and use some excuse to do so, but the involved and determined WvW players, play ALL parts, and they deal with whatever comes their way.

The exceptional players overcome whatever comes their way, they don’t whine that “Their way is better” they simply deal with all other parts of the game with grace and confidence.

To my battle brothers and sisters on ET and FC, here is a toast to our well rounded forces, May we clash in battle on all parts of the field with grace and fun.

for everyone that say’s they can down good thieves 1 v 1 with ease, please do show us the video? Otherwise, it’s thieves trying to steal the message of the thread.

You can down a good Thief, good Mesmer, good Warrior, etc. It’s all about skill. If your opponent has more skill than you, it won’t be easy.

To be honest, two equally skilled, and geared players, the Thief has the edge due to the abilities of their class. The ability to disengage from the fight at will, being able to do extremely high burst DPS, combined with a barrage of stealth and other tricks, just gives them more means to do more damage faster with less risk to themselves.

But like I said, you can’t really bring a thief on par to any other class without totally nerfing them to oblivion.

I much perfer my mesmer for solo or guard for group. They bring far more along with them than my thief does. Solo both can take on a thief (or multiple baddy thieves) and laugh.

LOL, I have heard this before, and will again, normally by the same people I have to revive 5 min later.

Sorry, but if you really think that an equally skilled and geared thief won’t own you, you are way too over confident. and while I am sure if you fight a Thief on your terms, you might be able to take them, the truth is, if they are letting you fight them on your terms, they are not a well skilled thief.

Hey Eredon Terrace and Fergs should just marry each other.
that way you can crawl on the bottom together, or hell maybe you’ll get somewhere!

You must be new here, allow me to provide you a heads up, we have been in the bottom tier together long before you or HoD showed up.

We are more like siblings at this point, we have our petty spats, but in the end, we are stuck together.

Gives a whole new meaning to double teaming when guild [BS] from ET insist on not capping anything in our BL in order to solely defend FC camps and towers. ET, don’t you want to come in 2nd?

Just be sure you’re not mixing the ET Basic[BS] guild up with the Fergs Bloody Swagmen[BS] same tag yet completely different guilds. Just thought I’d mention that since we made a bit of a habit of defending what we took in your BL to keep the PPT as long as possible

^ This.

Anyway, when you have been facing the same people long enough like ET has been with FC, (going what now.. 20 weeks?) it’s just going to happen that you get along. Sorry to burst the bubble of people that come here full of spit, fire, and vinegar, but, really, it’s T8, learn to have fun, because being the best in the bottom tier is nothing to get too worked up over.

Guys. Stop buying keys to gamble.

If they don’t make money putting skins in RNG boxes, they’ll stop doing it. Then we can get the skins either through actually playing the game, or buying them for a flat cost in gems, either of which would be preferable to gambling for them.

Those of you who bought keys are undermining your own desire to get them another way.

True this. I would rather they just sell me the skin/item/whatever

I bought the pick axe gladly, but if they made me open boxes of it.. Kitten that. While yah, having a chance to pull it from a box is cool, put that in.. in addition to being able to just buy the thing.

Or a title. Something I could have walked away with, going “yah, I got this!” as opposed to all I got was a few insigna’s for having run the dungeon a few times in hopes of a jetpack.

You did get a title, you got Avenger of the Dispossessed.

Winning a fight while that outmanned requires bad play by the larger force, superior play by the smaller force and/or both. It’s usually a combination of the two.

One thing is for sure though. Your average zergrunner would never be able to win in a 3v10 situation no matter how bad the 10 are.

3 v 15? and the lesser team won.. woohoo.. shake that kitten baby, But seriously come off it, if you won those odd then all you did was beat up some poorly or wrongly geared unskilled players. Glorified for beat up a bunch of noobs? well, that is not something that I would find brag worthy.

i was a bit underwhelmed too in the finale. cant seem to rationalize why the 2 week wait for a bonfire. an achievement for visiting the fire kind of lame hey even a cutscene would have made it better. nope just a hour boon. im sorry but that was lame. they didnt have to give me the world but maybe a 24 hour boon and a cutscene would have satisfied me. or a present with a food item that gave me a 24 hour boon instead of bonfire

While I am loath to admit that the OP has a point simply because of his elitism, he does have a point.

If the Queue is full, then anyone not able to pull their weight is in fact dead weight and that applies to anyone, up level or not. If you are not on your A game, when their is a wait for others that may be on their A game, you are taking up a slot that is better served for someone else.

However, on lower tiers, like T6 and below, there is no wait, and that means you are not taking up a slot, you are providing a warm body to whatever team you are fighting for. Thus on the lower tiers, regardless of skill, gear, or whatever, you are adding to the power of your team.

So while I can respect that on T1 or T2, where people need to wait an hour or longer to get in, that anyone not optimized, skilled, and ready to put out their best may as well leave, because when every slot in the battle ground is full, sup par is not acceptable.

But when you have zero wait, and in fact have issues getting a group of more then 20 on the field, anybody, and any body, is welcome.

Playing on T8, I can say that up levels are the norm, getting your friend in, for their daily, or what have you, is how it all happens, because, we are not taking a slot that someone better might fill, we are filling an empty slot.

It really boils down to where you play, and I think people on the upper tiers need to realize that they only make up a fraction of the WvW situation and a minority of it at that. There is a lot more diverse group and styles of wvw as we move though the tiers.

So, there is no one way to play from T1 to T8. Each tier, each world, should try to find the way that works the best for them.

for such a large part of the game you’d think they’d address the issues quicker.

I am left wondering, if this was the intent to be honest. did they mean to make Dungeons a large part of the game, or were they supposed to be some fringe thing?

There are many questions with no answer, and that is not a good thing.

I know this is a LFG question. But I guess the point of this post was because I was wondering why they did not start with an LFG system.

I mean, we can say “hindsight is 20/20” but you know they went thought a lot of effort t make unique skins for armors, weapons, and a whole system (story/paths) for each dungeon, so they were expecting people to have to run these a few times over.

So I guess, I am just wondering why they did not have something at the start, or at least something in the works when the game went live.

I guess I am just kinda in a state of amiss at were they expecting to happen with these dungeons, or how did they think or expect players to approach them.

I guess if we knew that, we could get a better fix on how they view dungeons and how they the LFG system they will put in will work.

Hello from ET – The other team in T8. I must admit, You have quite the build and skill there then if you can do this.

In my experiences so far with wvw, there is a good chunk of the players I know that can’t solo cap a camp much less a tower. Not to mention a the problems of trying to solo a fully upgraded version of either.

But as others have said. You are perhaps just a better player, and thus you will always suffer from the limitations of the other people that want to enjoy this game along with you.

You have the top tiers, they would be called the varsity (lets say T 1 – 3) It is not because they better skilled, or better players, but because they put more effort into it or simply just transferred over. They play after school, every day, and work on becoming the best they can be at what they do or they just transfer over.

There we go, I fixed it for you.

Are the transfers worse then the existing residents? Not sure what you are trying to say with this.

You originally stated that T1-T3 players “put more effort into it” to get to T1-T3.

This ignores the fact that you used to be able to transfer for free, and can today just pay X amount of gold, to join a T1-T3 server. That doesn’t require any effort, skill, dedication, etc.

Well they also put more effort to stay where they are as well. Even if you transfer up, you still need to step up and get your game on to be in T 1 – 3. You can’t walk into the top tiers and play like you are still in T8, per say.

You can put in effort, but you don’t have to. You can literally just pay X gold, transfer to T1-T3, and now you are a member of the “elite” tiers. That’s the premise of Oozo’s post and my clarification.

I see what you are saying.

This is a great question, and I feel that my answer may get lost among the many pages of this post, but here it goes.

Forgive, I am going to use a sports analogy, and apply the thought process of High School spots to WvW.

You have the top tiers, they would be called the varsity (lets say T 1 – 3) It is not because they better skilled, or better players, but because they put more effort into it. They play after school, every day, and work on becoming the best they can be at what they do.

Then you have the J V teams (Tier 4 – 6) these guys are not quite varsity, but they are working on it, prepping, building, and looking to make the cut. This is the tier where the Fair weather players start to ween off and such, the Up levels start to fall back and people start to get on the same page with each other.

Then you have the Gym Class group. (T7 – 8 ) ok. We got some talent out there, but that’s all it is, talent, we play for the fun, we don’t take it too serious. We bring our PvE builds into the game, we up level, and all that. Because, come on.. it’s gym class.

or such is my feelings on it.

PvE to WvW, Sad Face sPvP

in WvW

While your post is very long winded, in simple terms, what you are proposing is fusing sPvP and WvW into the same aspect.

In many ways this would be for the best.

With WXP system in place, and the PvP Exp system in place, they could give Exp For both Aspects of the EvE environment

IE: WvW actions – Destroy Siege, take a point, kill a yak, etc, and you get WXP.

Defeat a player and you get whatever sPvP awards (Sorry I only sPvP to test builds)

This could also let them move the sPvP maps to junction off the WvW maps, so players that want to, can have their 1v1 duels, and even GvG fights.

However to make that a reality they would need to remove the “Control Points” from the “PvP” maps, and just make them Meat Grinder type fights, which is what the people who go there would want anyway.

Also. As far as gear goes. They should allow players to use a PvE (WvW) gear set up, as opposed to the sPvP that depends on amulets.

Also, keep the “starting” gear, just that, exotic starer gear, and allow players to use badges to change their look and stats.

It has potential to be great, and suck at the same time, and it really depends on how they fused them.

So you are telling me that people that compete in the lower categories are just a bunch of losers that cannot compete on higher ones?

Well lets be honest with ourselves, our best showing on most nights would be called “small group battles” on the upper tiers.

Just saying.

Still, he’s not giving merit to those who win “equal fights” just because they aren’t on the top category.

Ehh, That’s not what I got from it.

From what I read He’s saying that we can’t judge the ability of a sever by the points because we all have gaps in coverage, thus, we can’t use the score as a base for how strong or weak we are when we meet, but only as a means to see who has the largest coverage gaps.

Personally I thought he was trying to say that we should Enjoy the equal fights as they are all that matters in this tier and let the score be whatever it is.

So you are telling me that people that compete in the lower categories are just a bunch of losers that cannot compete on higher ones?

Well lets be honest with ourselves, our best showing on most nights would be called “small group battles” on the upper tiers.

Just saying.

Be thankful you never had to compete in a light-weight strength competition against me out in the schoolyard. I totally would have taken you to task with my super leet karate skills and then had my lawyer dad sue you for everything your family had. After taking over rights to your trailer we would have raided its stash of newport cigarettes, crunchy cheetohs, and cheap mexican dirt weed before blowing it up as a warning to the others who stand against us in T8.

Woah dude.. Don’t totally fail me bro and leave the Keystone behind.

To all our honourable ET and FC opponents, my guild members and I are appalled by all this boasting. I do apologise on behalf of HoD. We tend to forget that we’ve just recently fallen to Tier 8 and that should be humbling enough. I myself have met many wonderful opponents in my solo roaming and I do respect you all. Once again, our sincere apologies

No shame in being here, it’s just another tier in the game. Let’s all try to have some decent fun out there.

@ET did I break your morale?

Greetings Sir, and well met.

Perhaps you don’t really know whom you face, FC and ET have been fighting SF for 13 weeks, non-stop, I believe you know, SF, the server you all ran and hid from (according to your Post ) when they came crashing though. Yah we battled them endlessly on T8, never giving up, no one could even dent our moral at this point.

Woah, the last topic did not go away because of drama.. it was my fault.

I Deleted the OP because I thought a 5/3 topic existed, but it was a 4/26. and that caused them to delete the topic, if anyone is to blame, it’s me for not paying attention,

Totally sorry for that everyone.

Anyway. good game so far, lets have some fun.

World versus World. No. Zerg versus Zerg. Please change the name to reflect reality.

Not to say too much, but it’s really not Zerg vs Zerg, that just seems to be how your tier does it.

In T8, our “Zergs” don’t even pop orange swords, and we have many small camp capping groups that run in 2 – 5 man teams all over the place, not to mention the rather common solo capper.

-Edit- Gah teach me not to read the whole post -facepalm-

I see this is a PvE rant.

Dude. I don’t know what to tell you, I know the pain of dealing with gankers and nasty people who camp spawns and things like that in WvW, it really sours the whole thing due to the actions of a few (or at least I hope it is the few), in reality, fighting in that Zerg, is a really honorable way to fight, it requires tactics, team work, and spacial awareness.

The reality is, if you are looking for world completion it is either you want the pretty star or you want the legendary and the legendary requires 500 badges of honor, and the truth is, people do camp the jump puzzle.

I would say, if you want, then you need to do what you would do for a PvE point, and that is fight for it, go out there, follow the zerg and get the points you need with them. Death is part of that, and while not fun, when they laugh, dance, or whatever, just turn off emotes, and move on from it.

It says “Invader” or “defender” just think of them as NPC’s and not other players, fight as you would fight, and work for the points.

There really is no other way to do it.

Pet names go away?

Wow. I had no idea. So if I name a pet, I will have to re-name my pet each time I swap it?

Yah, I have a 80th level ranger with 4 pets – 2 water/2 land I need to get out of WvW more often.

If I’ve misread your post please expound upon your intended message so that I may better understand you.

I think what he means is that Score is not indicative of correct placement of a server. It only shows the current performance of the server not it’s perseverance.

But I could totally be missing that as well.

Added: Was just lurking, seeing how things were going for you all. Good luck and Have Fun.
