Staff range is not 1200, cause I am exactly within the range, indicator shows in range, but I get out of range message, also mirror images will not spawn aswell, same range when staff say out of range.

Also happens with decoy. (1200 range)
Illusionary leap will not summon a clone that rush towards your foe, at exact range (600 range)
counter blade will not daze target at 900 range, in range according to all skills

Elementalist and engineer is the only classes that can only have one weapon and no swap, not a bug

Not working as intended, checked on my mesmer sword skill #1, range 130, I am out of range and hit it aswell, like in your video Xscyt.

have one image showing that melee indicator shows wrong or melee weapons have longer range than it should. As I think all classes have this issue with melee it’s not a big deal,
would also address this to mesmer again, staff range is not correct second picture will show what I mean.

Don’t finish them off if they outnumber you, they will res each other, then just make AoE when they res and at some point more than half of them lie downed lol, I recommend damaging them instead of finishing them, can depend on your spec, that’s how I can take 1v3-1v5, cause they think you finish them when they are downed, that’s why you should keep attacking the ones that res.

I really agree with you, the “finish him” animation is suited when facing 1vs1 or if hostiles are distracted with other targets.
I dont mind with downed state or the finish move, player need to know if he will have the time to do it or not, keep damage on downed player and in the nearby hostile targets, while they are resing they are not atacking.

Altrough you may need to somehow finish your downed enemy in a 2v3 fight, if you do it, be 100% sure you will kill him, else you may end up dead instead.

scenario:
your ally is downed and they may kill him and res their downed ally, to make a possible chance against them you have to make ally rally ofc. and you have to be 100% sure you will be able to finish enemy, I usually burst damage before start finishing them to either kill them by burst or lower their HP so I can finish the enemy, also I try to make myself take so little damage as possible, some class has skills that make invulnerability, use them in that case, else use retaliation so you can reflect some damage, stability also is good so enemy won’t stop your stomp.

I used to have problem with thief, what I do, is always move, when I see attack, I quickly dodge to evade (generate clone), then somehow I manage to target them, sword #3, then #3 again TP to them, and then I make mirror images and shatter #1, sometimes #2, cause confusion melt the thief if he spams his attack (roughly 1-2k confusion) per skill used.
also during MW shatter use sword #2, and more profit

@Influx, Test what works for you but remember you dont need al 25 stacks on the stacking to be viable. I generaly kill some npc,s (cayotest) in one chaos storm cd before go to war. This give around 10 stacks (100 preci) and enought. Then you get rest later on.

@Unknown, I have a effective way to deal with thiefs latley, it work nerly every time. Id they dont die they take so big dmg they stealth to reset fight. Then I just wait a sec or 2 then stealth and wait another sec and dodge. You be supriced how annoying the thiefs find other stealthers and alot will hit first clone or 2nd that pop up. Also use a portal in stealt is extremly confuion for them. Will post new vid today. also Isis and Helios have 2 wery solid ways to fight thiefs. I post a vid i posted before, if you look close you notice most thiefs in this vid accualy die due to confusion and conditions. Easy to miss

Something I have noticed about water combat for a mesmer. Not sure if it is a bug or intended… When we have clones with tridents they cause CONFUSION without shattering.. I say again clones auto attack CAUSE CONFUSION underwater. Its just amazing.

I find mesmer water combat very bad in damage, but the conditions are ok(but still not), also I use spear instead of trident, due to moar high damage, only con is that it’s melee

Annoying as hell, and made me post a triple post, also tried one hour reloading page to remove them, just sad :/, and something with net-traffic?, cause on the morning for me it worked just fine

@Mogster, Persoanly I beleve that with our high Crit dmg, and crit multiplier (im @ 107% crit dmg now in normal shatter cat, 97% crit dmg in hyrid) more crit chance give more dmg than more dmg.

With fully stacked my crit is ~65% now in hybrid spec. With fury up its 85%, this give a extremly high burst as so many of the MV and phantasm hits crit.

Had a interesting fight yesterday, due to alot of flaming on the server for cheatint and exploit I wont tell from what server but got attacked by a thief who used a speedhack. Must say it was a good fight thu. Latley it been extremly hard get proper smal number fights due to enemy flee as soon they not outmanning.

Tbh cant understand this mentality but ofc ppl do as they what. But why flee from a 1 vs 1 or even 2 ppl flee from 1 vs 2 alt 2 vs 2 to go get friends then go for a 1 vs x gank. It it so scary to have a fair fight?

Well apperently even speedhack thiefs die to ripposete, rune of aie and mindwrack combo .)

Yeah, read about the flamings so I know what server, also I will not tell which one it is/was, switched server again, so sadly we will not encounter eachother.
Feel somehow sad about people ruining games due to hacks

seems people don’t like 1v1 in WvW, all about crushing them enemy, but if you are lucky you will find someone alone and he will probably start running or attacking you

Also had a nice watch on a 1v1 vs our team (ranger) and other server dunno which one (thief), sat down and watched, til I got bored cause no ones health was EVER below 50%, so I jumped in and we crushed him.

think I saw a enemy Warrior using TP hack… NOT SURE, and I will not blame anyone for it, cause he was standing next to me taking a vista, I did not attack, was nice and let him take the vista, and then suddenly he TP around 900 yards away from me instantly… didn’t care so I moved on, they was going to take camp, they where 3 warr… killed 2 then last ran away… not him btw, either it was some kind of server delay… or he used hacks, and I will not blame anyone cause I am NOT SURE!

Also I like when you see a thief dagger coming at you, you turn around then you use your Sword#3*2, then #2 and Mirror images, shatter#1, they lie down… happen to work every time, except if there are a cluster of them thief, so you cannot take them all, you know about stealth issues… tips for a 1vX? , (X amount of thief’s 1+)

Edit: Speedhack thief just show how bad they are… super ez mod… and speedhack… how…. ehm, what a coincidence (NOT BLAMING EVERY THIEF), Iv’e been against thief’s that basically instant kill me due to that I will not react in time, so I say GG to them, nice combo there, just draining half my HP in one hit xD, my bad not being careful and not keeping a eye around myself all the time.

I still hope you can get some good thief fights, still struggle against them, but I still lack air runes though.

Had this also just after a guildie got it, when we were at the last part before beating Jormag. It’s like an alarm going off in your left ear only. Going to character select and the sound continued, had to log out and back in before it was fixed. It was the first time I encountered this since the start of the game.

I don’t think local.dat is the cause, cause It can still occur even if it’s newly created, but I recommend removing local.dat once in a while, cause it grows ^2 it seems

currently my local.dat is 13.5Mb lol should be around 1.8Mb(newly created)

I found 4 people attacking a supply camp, managed to down all 4 one after the other then a thief came along and nuked me!! I seemed to struggle against thieves and I found it difficult to close in on players who knew how to kite me. Hopefully I will get better the more time I spend on my Mesmer.

I find it pretty funny to fight thief.. Just put up some illusions when they run towards u, when they disappear block the first attack, and then just shatter 1,2,3.. usually down them and if not, then they are pretty easy to finish or else they run like little girls.. ;p

Nothing new here. Just stack conditions on him, kite, and have a bit of toughness to negate his burst.

Yea soon man soon they will fix this annoying rendering issues then its all over for thiefs you can actually retaliate quicker because they will actually be rendered instead of a debuff that doesnt mean crap atm because of that issue lol. this should be ontop of anets list like asap. They definitly put the mindwrack bug ontop of thier lists as everyone saw why not the rendering issue too?? that is what is making thiefs so formidable. We have stealth aswell dont get me wrong but we dont have access to stealth just by pressing one skill all the time lol so they pretty much abuse it at this point. even when you down a thief that was in stealth it takes FOREVER for them to render x.x

Taking things slow and steady seems to work 1v5 , downing them time after time, then suddenly 4 or all lies downed in a circle.

Edit: will probably hear a lot of threads in how up thief is, when rendering is fixed

Edit 2: now faced a D/D ele, no good result, he 100% me around 10% after resetting fight, but both walked away like nothing happen

If I am in a fight, or join, I for some reason try to make my clones(mirror images), and sword #3, to get 3 clones, and when I have them, I instantly shatter, also I try target the enemy with more that 50% hp, so they won’t die if I target downed enemy etc, where the chance is great to lose the clones and just wasting mirror images, if you make a good place on clones and instant shatter if you know what you are doing, you can down atleast 5 people with 70% hp if they are in range of the shatters, and AoE from sword #2 I use at same time.

1. remove all permanent speed buff traits (ranger, thief, necro, etc.) getting chased by enemy ranger and you cannot escape, enemy zerg catch up on you cause of this, not fun
2. read my signature, line 2 and 3
3. better outmanned buff

I took 5 characters to the “entry point” of the 2 JPs I know of in LA for got the “discoverable” portion of the monthly.

you can just use same character on the “discovery”- point, log in and out, and you will get it. after some time, I was actually finding 30 different JP, but using Wiki, and checking one by one

@Lordryux,yh, figured it out, but seriously I am still having trouble with thief what the hell am I doing wrong?

following scenario, you where hit by ~6k, by thief using …
you where hit by ~7k by thief using cloak and dagger
you where hiy by ~8k by thief using heartseeker

have one second to hit diversion/disortation, but I am not that fast…
also this scenario takes around 3 sec, and then my health is gone…
and these 3 sec the thief is NEVER rendered, making targeting impossible
and if I get a strike, say dealing half his HP, he disappears in stealth for around 5-10 sec me left there with half or less HP, then BAM downed, cause I never saw him(I also move during this time, but does not help that much)

@influx, you can change the sigils to another set if you wan’t, if you hate stacking, you can kill some NPCs, I do that, goes pretty well.

Fixed the last things with spec, but I only get 85% crit damage with food… this how much you get ?

Think it has something to do with large fight’s cause when I run in a small party it seems to work fine, but when it comes to capturing SM and defending server and the two other trying to take it (XvXvX), and fight in Lord Room, this seem to happen, not every time, but chance /risk for this to occur is greater? when there is large amount of players in the area.

I didn’t mean you actually kill 50 people, haha. But you can run towards the zerg, bait a bit and naturally you will get chased by quite a few people. Ive been so annoying that I’ve had entire zergs follow me.
Once chased start kiting while finding a target and dishing out damage on him. We do great damage on the move via illusions and strafing for auto attacks. Also confusion etc. Don’t run in a straight line btw. Once downed hit distortion (shatter 4) and go for the kill. Or you can leave a clone on him (makes him bleed out unless helped) and continue kiting. You can come out with several kills this way.
I also play with GS so #5 skill is great way to push away people trying to ress someone, then Finish Him yourself right after.

Thought so, about 1v50 :P, only done that to a smaller enemy zerg, like 10-15
Also got chased by 4 enemy once, my friend turned up, we crushed them. I couldn’t crush a necro, ranger, and 2 elementalist myself, running build that can’t take them, but when you run in a small group with friends, you can have a good time killing enemy after enemy, cause you can just burst down their health if you want, depends on your gear ofc.

Shattered Strength is not gaining benefits from Illusionary Persona, while traits such as Rending Shatter do. Can anyone confirm whether SS was gaining the fourth charge before or not? It currently does not count Illusionary Persona as an Illusion Shatter, thus the overall nerf to Might gain is larger than the patch note states.

Not a bug, but cause it say shattered clones, and your character is not a clone, that’s why I think you only get 3x might for shattering 3+self

Well Just logged on yesterday after the nerf and for me this nerf is really irritating as I spend a lot of my time running WvW with my guild and that dumb GCD is a pain when fighting multiple opponents. Not sure about everyone else but for me it was irritating me more and more as time went on, not to say that it is completely game breaking but for players with fast reflexes like me having to wait for that GCD to run out feels like a lifetime when you are tryin to string shatter combos

Yes it is a bit annoying, but I have a feeling I was able to make a shatter#1 and #2 at same time today, got a feeling of that. Cannot say for sure, cause I was 6x confusion after me making shatter #1, or that I was 4 conf from shatter #1 and then +2 for shatter #2

@Manditory, you say 1vX , 4<X<51, have you made a 1v50? or did you see that or made it up, cause I can hardly think ONE mesmer can take 50 people?

Also want to add that mesmer is far superior in 1v1 than any other class, like Manditory say, you can soak up damage with shatter #4, makes you invulnerable (forgot the name)

I had a engineer, was boring then I tried mesmer, was something else, fun, the skills(said earlier), and the way you could play, huge damage, or tank, you can choose that if you want, or a condition build. Basically a class that you can make to a whateveryouwant into.

Leveling was a little boring, but with GS/staff you can take leveling quite easy.
Went to WvW, changing to shatterspec, having more fun than ever, but I fail sometimes, but I hope I learn why.

Listening to music wile playing makes me play alot better.

And the reason I still play mesmer, haven’t mastered it, prolly never will, so much you can experiment with, and that it’s a challenge to play actually.

All I have left is, the trinket(Accessory) and I think I will take two zerker, but I will see about that, have the event trinket, but feel I can change that aswell, currently I have2x valkyrie earrings, giving me 17k hp witout buff.

@Osicat, I said I was going to stay a week earlier, but I will stay a bit longer, maybe later move to Desolation, but I am not 100% sure I will do that.

The skills mesmer have, shattering with ~15k damage… blink, decoy, mirror images etc, and you can make alot of confusion if you know how to play, and I mean by confusing who the real player is, or just annoy enemy by running around and making clones

And what Lordryux say, instakilling thief and laugh at it.

well, if he has it or not I can’t say for sure, but I was just curious if this was a bug or not

Moved to new server last week, had no server buff, w8 til friday reset, and now I still don’t have a server buff.

It say I have 1% extra HP with server buff, then my current HP is 16.9k
then I w8 til I get 2% extra HP, what is my current HP? Not more buffed still 16.9k

Only happen to me or not?

seen warriors easily get 25 might, necro same, ele …why not mesmer…? and I have been to 24 most unless I use arcane thievery, and steel 25 might stack, now I got 7 might, and it’s nothing, also that channeled skills attack even if you cloak.. happen to me today, got killed due to that, hope they fix that asap

@Lordtyux, yh, feel the same, little sad, but guess I have to learn or switch back to S/P, and go back to the good ol´ shatter, but I switched server recently, getting no serverbuff, and I feel very weak, only 16.9k hp :/, with serverbuff at this time I should have ~18k hp, and now I feel no damage done… vs elementalist today, got him to 10%, all skills on CD… and what was left, retreat… I have a feeling enemy gets buffed and I don’t, so for me it’s very much like hardcore now. dying a bit more, haven’t played so much with the new patch so I cannot say so much now.

Edit: you can still do much raw damage in a couple of seconds, and if you are against a unprepared enemy, you can instakill him without any issue

I don’t mind the nerf that much, but they could have added a GCD to thief, they can spam skills right…

Also map completion thing is fixed if I’m not wrong. It’s invisible for enemy players in WvW or spvp.

What they can add is that mesmer downed clones is somewhat tougher, and add downed player arrow so they can’t insta finish you, all they do is watch that downed arrow and bam you are dead anyway.

@Ravbek, haven’t tried, but have no idea if they will shatter with both MW and CoF, if that is what you mean. But I don’t think they do.

Found that after you do your first shatter, by the time you use mirror images that .25 seconds is up already.

Probably won’t notice this that much, prolly if you press shatter #3 and #2 same , one will trigger and the other won’t, so you can save a shatter if you are missclicking now.

Wonder if they add same for thief, they can spam skill after skill…?, like we could with our shatter, almost…

Happened to me again today, in WvW. Only temporarily solving it by restarting the game. Trying to change the sound settings in game just causes the game to crash completely for me.

Doesn’t crash for me, if I turn off the sound when the bug has started, I can set all sound levels to 0 (in game), and the annoying sound is still loud, you can goto sound mixer (windows) and turn it off from there.

I reacted heavily first time but now, I don’t react at all now, now it’s like. Oh I got this sound bug… again, then I restart game all fine, could be worse.

More annoying is if it happens in a fight, either you die, or die cause you cannot run away and at same time lowering sound level, or you are lucky and enemy dies so you can turn off sound get to safe spot if necessary and restart game.

Sometimes I’ve found ‘Deceptive Evasion’ (create clone on dodge) to be bugged sometimes, I’m not sure how it happens, maybe I get downed during dodges or something.

But after whatever happens my dodges no longer create clones in combat. Even if I try swapping out the trait out of combat and and reslotting it in a new fight. (usually happens in dungeons, but once I leave the dungeon, it resets and it’s back to normal). It’s very annoying considering my build revolves around making clones through dodging.

Also experienced this, when dodging and no clones spawn, annoying cause I need the clones, seem to happen if you initiate attack with staff #1, and just before it hits target you dodge, and get no clone, and if you dodge second time right after hit and end of dodge it also may happen that no clone will spawn.

Found it very frustrating when trying to cap camps and can’t fulfill my damage due to shattering with one or two clones less, due to no clone dodge.

I will see if I will encounter you, cause the server I switched to is blacktide, well I will only stay on that server for another 6 days. just to see new tactics etc.

never happen to me using sword #3, but I have teled into a wall(WvW tower) with staff#2, cannon with staff #2(Arah dungeon), and some more times(not sure what object), also with staff #2, all teleport skill can bug you into another object. Hope they fix this soon

Just switched server, big mistake, everone zergs there it seems, rendering issues makes battles vs thief’s impossible, for some random reason I do not get server buff. Bad luck or what the…

I have this issue aswell, was gone for a couple of months then suddenly it started again. Someone said that local.dat is to huge, well I have one local_Good.dat, new created then renamed it, made a copy of it and renamed the copy to local.dat, so I see local.dat increasing, thus they said sound bug would appear if local.dat was around 40Mb, but mine is only 1.9Mb, so this is not a problem solver I’d say. Only way to fix is restart game, and it’s annoying in full WvW borders, wait time etc :/ when they are full will say

Sword #3, has 300 range. casting at 300 range, spawns it, then tele to target is 600 range, this if you chase enemy, he runs longer than 300 yards. but I have summoning problem aswell, even in range. so something is bugged with it.

@Osicat, was my friend’s idea, and we where against two thief (glass), moa them and bam not even one sec of battle, also got a laugh out of it.

I have Knight’s sword (OH), also works, just a little less damage though.

Been playing with your hybrid spec, I love it so much, it’s good if you play solo, just hard to chase enemies, and if you play in a small group you deal tons of damage, and with 25 stack of vulnerability you do easily 5,5k with iSwordsman.

also got chased by 4 people, almost died, then my friend tanked their damage and we crushed them, was a good fight there.

I notice alot of shattercat builds, in WvW, but sometimes I win and sometimes they do, depends on if you got your timings right or vice versa, but I have found it very easy to snipe enemies down, and still be able to take enemy damage, and like in your “hybrid vid”, i did like you instakilled a guardian, was so fun to see his health bar just drop to zero and getting into downed state, also I find Moa morph very usefull sometimes if there is a 2v5 etc.

I don’t think thief is that hard, just have to keep them at distance, knowing their moves, know when to dodge etc. When you know this, you can take almost any thief, and also I keep moving if I lose him/her out of sight. To lure them out, and so I can cast Chaos storm and then I can get him/her to fall back and I can then easily stun him/her, and then finish him/her off.

If you don’t feel safe you can run in a larger group, til you know the basis of a thief’s moves. Cause in a group you can get rezzed if downed, and shorter battles vs a thief.

@Zid, I don’t think there’s a crit cap, cause Wiki, say that a warr can get 100% crit if low level and use deep strike.
