WvW was a complete joke to try and get gear. Unless you ran a large organized group there was simply no way to farm enough badges to get a set of gear in a timely manner. This seriously wasn’t even an option.

I remember I farmed 500 + 390 × 2 = 1280 badges for my invader amulet and rings, lol.
But I used to zerg a lot and do all 4 jumping puzzles every day.

All I’m expecting is that they’ll make it much easier to obtain in a few months, just like they did with karma, dungeon tokens, WvW badges and gold in general.

Sword clone is better than iDisenchanter.

Sword clone rips boons, and does it faster than iDisenchanter. With sharper images, it does more damage than iDisenchanter. It also applies vulnerability. It can be summoned faster as well.

Sometimes people want to make a quick single fractal for dailies. Sometimes people want to make all 4 for rewards.

You have around 40 possible daily achievements, 14 each day. Fractal runner isn’t one of them most times. And improving the experience for those who actually wanna run fractals should be more important that making 1 daily achievement easier to get a few times a week at most.

Go do living story, champ farm or chain events in kessex/harati for 5 minutes and you’ll see.

Staff is the safest most efficient weapon to “tag” enemies and get the credit.

And on top of that: Kasmeer’s staff.
Everytime I see a mesmer or a guardian with it I just leave the party because I know they’ll camp it non stop.

Plays for fun: you don’t need ascended gear to do anything. Sure it would be nice to have it but nothing needs Ascended items in the game. Why would you NEED Ascended gear for alts?

My idea of playing for fun is min-maxing my builds for running dungoens, for at least 2 of my characters. I accepted farming trinkets because you don’t switch between them, but weapons? Those 2 characters alone would need 10 ascended weapons, so that’s a no.

It also includes min-maxing my builds for WvW roaming. And that’s even worse. The amount of different sets and weapons I need for only 4 characters would put me to farm for a year, and by that time some uber-ascended gear will be released.

Maybe your idea of “plays for fun” is being super casual and loging in to complete quests and do the living story.

My brother spent around 1m karma in buying rare weapons in WvW and throwing them in the MF. You get a few gold, if and if are a lucky mofo you can get a precursor.

That was months ago, tho, don’t know if they changed it.

We, who are against ascended tier gear lost and we just need to get over it. It’s a different game now, with a different grindier philosophy. 1. It requires a target in order to be activated.

So does the warrior, engie, necro, ranger interrupt (well warriors can use it, but if you are not standing right in front of them it can’t hit you)

2. You can’t choose the direction you’re going. I’ts very possible the place you warped to will end up with a monster or player that will just kill you faster.

It’s random because it gives you 3 seconds of stealth + a teleport (thieves can only teleport and then wait to have their stealth skill).

3. If I’m downed in PvE, the LAST thing I want is to pull aggro to myself.

In PvE what you should be doing is using deception to gain a few seconds until you can use your rogue. Rogue can crit rrrrreally hard if you are full zerker, so if you didn’t rally with that, you weren’t gonna rally with a different class anyway.

4. I suppose it is okay for PvP and WvW, because enemies will usually stomp the clone instead of you.

No, that doesn’t happen unless the enemy is terrible. The mesmer is always the second one to appear.

To sum up, mesmer downed state is not that bad. You can still prevent the stomp if you are blinded or the enemy has stability on, that’s a big deal in PvP.
And in PvE rogue is still great for rallying.

That’s pretty much it for anyone who has played some PvP.
And like you have already said: guardian, warrior, ranger, engie, and necro interrupts are all negated by blind and stability.

Thief teleport can be negated by teleport skills. If he ports away a second too fast you can port to him using thieves infiltrators strike, eles lightning flash, mesmers blink and guardians flashing blade.

Mesmer port is negated by doing what you said, the only chance they have is porting far enough but that’s more random than anything.

And then eles, they have a granted 2 seconds of the stomp animation, then 3 seconds of invulnerability, and then 3 more seconds until you can finish the stomp. That’s a total of 8 seconds to stomp an ele, which wouldn’t be a problem in a 1vs1 with nobody else around, but anything other than, yeah, it’s an advantage for sure.

Even when developers and designers created 8 unique classes, right now there’s no reason to play more than one.
And even when there are a lot of different stats and weapons a class can use, there’s no reason to play more than just one build.

Why? Because of how time and gold (but specially time) consuming it is to get the best in slot gear.

And I wouldn’t complain if it wasn’t because if this: it didn’t use to be like this, this is not what Anet promised, and exotic gear was the complete opposite.

So, what’s the solution for those who wanna play different classes and builds having the highest stats available?

Here is your current option:
1. Choose a class.
2. Choose between dungeons/fractals, PvE, WvW zerging, roaming.
3. Farm a set of armor, weapons and trinkets for that game aspect you like.
4. Ignore all the rest of the game.*
5. Have fun.

*If you don’t follow #4 you might end up joining speed runs with a full PVT hammer guardian, or running with a zerg trying to tag enemies with a scepter/torch rabbid mesmer.

I know I would, that’s why I don’t bring mine to fractals.

Rangers and thieves in fractals happen to suck most times, but the difference is that a well played thief is great while a well played ranger is still subpar.

New runes will give toughness, -condi duration, and aegis on activating a signet.

Also, forgot the different ways to get ascended trinkets:

Amulets, earings, rings with laurels +ectos or badges of honors.
Earings with guild commendations + gold (that you get from guild missions)
Rings with pristine relics from fractals/daily chest drops.

But you can only get weapons and armor by crafting?

You don’t need to spend 200 gold to get any of those, you just need to play the game to get laurels. Or run a fractal lvl 10 once a day to get the pristine relics, or spend 2 hours at most once a week doing guild missions.

It’s clear to me that ascended armor/weapons are designed to be gold sinks.

If you wanna troll people choose the biggest norn body you can get and play a clone spamming mesmer with lots of stealth.
For necro it doesn’t matter much because people are always gonna target you first and you have no way to lose that target. But being a tiny asura would help against pugs.

Mesmers are okey, but there are too many in PVE and you don’t need more than one in your party.
In WvW/roaming condi mesmers are everywhere and are borderline OP, unless you just run past them, in which case they can’t do kitten.

It seems like we will have fewer chances to get the special daily chest after the update.

Before you could do 10-18, 20-28, 30-38, etc with one character, and then run them again with as many characters as you had with those personal reward levels.

I used to get 3 daily chests almost everyday, so it sucks.

The trailer is amazing and all, but:

Level reset, account bound daily chest, tonic reward, fractal skins still being RNG kitten but now from lvl 10, sigil/rune only cool for WvW, a leaderboard.

It’s all a big WTF to me.

I’ll give them a number from 1 to 5. It’s just to have a general idea of course.

Any class does fine but warrior/ranger are the best in my opinion.

You could also buy rares and throw them in the mystic forge :p

You have less chances of getting an exotic but they are so much cheaper, specially if you are going for a 2h precursor.

I was never thinking about acc bound lvl = acc bound dailies.
If it was like that then, yeah, it would be unfair. Even if the amount of people running 38 and 48 dailies twice everyday is not the majority.

It would be cool being able to switch to warr if there was a mesmer in the party already, without having to get to 40 all over again, but punishing people who already went through the leveling is not what I was asking for.

And, I have 3 characters at 50, 46 and 38 respectively. There are more people that have multiple characters at high levels than you think.

Saying that your account fotm lvl should the highest you achieved on any of your chars doesn’t sound punishing to me.
Punishing would be saying something like “Hey, I just wanna play with one character, so dailies should be account bound”.

Now you sound more interested about everyone having to go through the boring lvl farming you went through, which has nothing to do with dailies being acc bound or not.

But hmmm, considering that you can already do a lot of dailies (10-18, 20-28, 30-38. 40-48) with the same character, the only interesting dailies to repeat would be maybe a 38 or 48 for the loot/chance to get a skin. But how many people have 2 or more characters lvl 38/48 and run those dailies on all of them regularly?

I think the amount of people having different 80’s but playing fractals with just one of them because they don’t wanna lvl all over again is bigger.
And people who do go through leveling care more about having different options rather than being able to repeat dailies.

I liked the idea of adding a bit amount of weakness to the 3rd attack/clones 3rd attack.
But I’d only welcome a buff if they tone down perma vigor→clone spam→condi spam combo.

While it’s true that outside 1vs1 and small fights/tPvP rangers don’t offer much. And that in dungeons you need a decent party to perform well, I don’t think rangers are a complete useless class.

That said, I pretty much quit playing mine for roaming. When you solo roam and all you see are blackwater mesmers, hambows, perplexity engies/thieves and groups of all those together, and you realize you have to work 10x harder to win a fight it comes to a point when you say F*** IT.

Sword AA is great.
It deals good dmg, gives might to your pet, and cripples your enemy, all that while sticking to your target like a heartseeker spamming thief.

If you are talking about dungeons, it’s still great if you and your party deals enough dps to not have to worry about getting rooted for too long.

If that happens swoop would be RTL 2.0. And I would expect it to recieve the same cooldown treatment.

It wouldn’t hurt PvE (yeah like we see a lot of GS rangers anyway) and it would balance PvP/WvW.

You mean temporal curtain should stack swiftness on people who already have swiftness on, and then somehow recognize who already gained switfness from it and don’t provide swiftness to them again? And what if you had different mesmers laying down temporal curtains?

The thing is, I don’t even see the point in temporal curtain stacking with others, if you are running with a zerg you’ll have 1-2 minutes from blasting lightning fields and warriors warhorns anyway. If you are running with 2-4-5 people, only use it when you ran out of swiftness.

About guardians ->Symbol of Swiftness: Applies 8 seconds if you have no swiftness and 1 second if you have swiftness. Devs wanna change it to 4 seconds of swiftness per pulse, and guardians aren’t very happy about it.

It is without doubt humiliating to be laying on the floor while someone solos a boss, but once you’re dead you kinda give up the right to complain about it. While you may look at it as a waste of your time, a few more whipes could be an even larger waste of his time.

Not only because it’s humiliating and boring, but because you don’t learn anything from being on the floor spectating a guy soloing Lupi. That’s something you can do better on youtube.

(Not even counting that the few times I had people trying to do this, they failed 15 minutes later)

It’s funny how people keep parroting mesmers are reflections/timewarp bots but they don’t call bots all the rest of the classes when they also have very defined roles based of a few skills.

I carried a party through arah p2 last night. 2 players were new to arah, 1 were new to the path and another with little exp. I had to basically solo phase 3 of GL. At least it was good practice for my solo

From my experience of being new to Arah and having someone wanting to solo him while the rest of us were on the floor, I can assure you I never thought “kitten this guy is so nice”. It was more like “this guy seriously needs to get a twitch channel”.

So far I’ve been farming LS for the experience.
After playing with my brother’s account since beta I wanted to get my characters to 80 fast on my own account and LS was amazing for that.

The only achievement I actually enjoyed was getting Liadri. I wish they add more stuff like that in the future.

Vets and higher ranks need an interrupt skill like players #2 while downed, and they need to stomp downed players.

On a side note, I love the knight npc. I’ve seen it own player SO many times.

All this helps introduce PvEr’s to PvP, at least a tiny bit, and makes PvE not so brain-dead easy.

2. Temp Curtain there’s no reason this shouldn’t stack with other swiftness period. You can already blast stack statics to infinite speed duration.

Only skills that stack swiftness are those that don’t use ground targeting. Why? For the extremely simple reason that you could use your own TC running back and forth and stack 1 min of swift or more.
No idea what it has to do with lightning combo. But if you are running with a zerg you don’t even need a focus for switfness.

My TC is practically worthless in these situations and I drop it down for people that might have missed stacks and that’s it. If you don’t want it to stack with other swiftness I’d rather you just remove it and give it something else (line of warding maybe…please? how cool would that be line of warding with a pull option! =D)

You mean something else like reflecting projectiles? Wow that would be awesome, I hope Anet reads this.

I’m on the verge of paying for jp ports just to not have to mind numbingly kill another 150 yaks, 125 sentries, and because mist merc vanquisher will not work no matter what I do. I’m terrible at jp under the best of circumstances. Fighting and jumping? Forget about it.

Man, borderlands jp’s are super easy, just watch a video to know the path or ask someone in the borderland to guide you, you can get it done in 5 minutes.
If you wanna pay for something, maybe the EB one would worth it, but not 10 gold for god’s sake.
And in reality there aren’t as many jp campers as the forum says. Just don’t go there during prime time.
