This is a direct result of your “character progression” scheme and the addition of champion loot bags / ascended materials to keep/tower lord drops.

Account bound WxP, decent rewards for defense and hard limits on golem/ram building (5 golems per map, 2 rams per gate max) need to be implemented as soon as possible. The alternative is this PvE counterflip circle junk play taking over every match. Gone are the days of the epic castle sieges the designers had envisioned, bring them back please.

I’ll +1 this post. Been playing wvw for awhile and always thought it was sort of competitive and about winning the week…but after reading in this post, and seeing everything from a different perspective it’s obvious that everyone is just farming It’s like seeing behind the curtain at a magic show or something..

Also expect the thieves to camp sentries for peeps trying to get that achieve… Not saying it is right or wrong – but why have pve objectives in wvw anyway…..

sentries have always been a part of wvw, fighting along side a friendly sentry against players has also always been a wvw tactic (gotta love baiting an enemy player into a 2v1, or better yet into a camp making it a 6v1 lol), along with using sentries as bait. Yes they are technically an npc and not players but labeling them as pve objectives is a stretch. All the achievements for the wvw season should be considered wvw objectives and not pve objectives. Basically what it comes down to is if pve players or achievement hunters want to get the wvw achievements they need to learn how to pvp, bring friends, and stop QQ’ing.

not gunna lie i me and a guildie roamed around in the jp a few weeks back when we were getting blown out, it was hilarious at all the QQ we got. I’ve been killed in there countless times, it’s a pvp area, so i have zero sympathy for any of the folks complaining. Think of wvw (including the jumping puzzle) as the wild wild west…it’s a scary place and if you go alone you are more than likely going to run into trouble. When i went for the achievement I went with a couple guildies and it was piece o cake.

To the 6 sbi pugs fighting us lonely 4 cd outside smc last night, it was hilarious watching you guys run back to smc every five seconds to get all the buffs…just come out and fight us, the buffs at smc will still be there after you wipe.

I actually have the feeling (especially since the new league system) that sometimes when it says there is a queue for a certain map, the enemy can get more players inside the map as we can do, although the player limits / server should be the same (I mean when we have a blob the enemy sometimes can have two and that has nothing to do with the fact that our people are running solo somewhere, it’s not the case). So my question is rather are there numbers on how many people can join a map, is this number fixed or is it vague? I know that there were some numbers, but are they officially confirmed? A statement would be nice.

I have exactly the same feeling – i would bet my last $5 that this is an existing issue caused by the dodgy queue system!!

It wouldn’t be the first time A-net has been wrong about something in-game (Necro downed state health bug)

Why when we have a large queue to get into EB, do we see that the enemy clearly has 2-3 times the numbers as us (most notably when we faced SoR) – the population difference was obvious, yet we had a map queue.

Something is very fishy – I’ve heard many people comment about the issue in game.

I can also confirm that the queue system is completely broken, in our matchup against FA and YB (i’m on CD) we were getting attacked on our BL, FA and YB had their usual mega blobs, we put out messages on all maps to get to our BL for defense, we literally only had about 15ish on the map (give or take a couple afk’ers) and tons in queue stuck on other maps. So every fight was like 3:1 and we lost pretty much everything…couldn’t do a thing about it.

There’s always talk of double teaming every matchup. These players like to ignore that EBay focused the hell out of DB for the first half of the matchup. There was a general mentality of “BP did it, so we’ll do it too”.

But that’s fine. Keep up the QQs about double teaming. I don’t remember any time during the week that CD had 0 PPT this week like we did, during which time CD had our whole borderland and none of theirs. Sounds a bit like the pot calling the kettle black.

Thanks to those on CD who stay classy and keep their conspiracy theories to themselves. Your server has a lot of great people. We all have a few that run against the current.

Honestly, 60+ to kill 20 has been going on since WvW began. Also, while I think I’ve seen DB ignore EB to take out CD, you can’t be sure. It could be that the close match up rallied EB’s defenses.

after reading through this thread i’m so excited for reset tonight sarcasm

Take my build with a grain of salt cause i’m probably terrible at building builds, but I usually roam with a friend or two so we’re usually in 2v2’s, 2v3’s, etc. So far if I can get my full rotation off, enemies will either be hurtin pretty bad or ready to retreat. I didn’t want to go condi, cause everyone in the world stack condi removal/condi reduction so I went for power/crit damage build. Utilities and elite are completely open based on situation/playstyle. I like to go with the two stealths, teleport, and two condi removals. Weapon sigils are also preference, in this build I stick with my rotation as much as possible so i’m switching weapons a lot. I can usually get up to around 12ish stacks of might. I use to play thief and man…it’s so much fun greatsword #5’in thieves out of their SR lol.

How will this help matches where there are overpopulated servers vs underpopulated servers? If the matchup is YB/BP/DR, will YB have 3 overflow maps and BP/DR still not able to fill the 4 main wvw maps, much less even ONE edge of the mists map? What good is overflow map #3 if there are no enemies?

How is this helping the #1 problem with wvw, population imbalance?

Why was so much effort put into this when commander tags are still broken, skill lag is a persistent problem, and the various other problems that have been around since game release that are killing the game and nothing is being done about?

not too interested in the new map to be honest…because there is a more important issue and question here…how is Anet going to solve the stacked server situation and the terribly unbalanced matchups. Can we please ditch the rng matchups (after season 1 concludes obviously). I’d much rather have the same somewhat competitive matchup each week then the rng matchmaking system that 9 times out of 10 creates some of the worst lop sided matchups i’ve ever seen (i.e. when Crystal Desert rode all the way to teir 2 a few months back. Every weeks matchup was a blow out, we got completely destroyed, yet we still gained pts? and the next week we went up a tier? How does that make any sort of sense?)

yes, if FA and SBI are tied at the end they are both labeled as being “1st” so they both get 1st place rewards, then the next server or server’s are labeled as 2nd, etc.

One thing I’d like to add is that of all the servers I’ve faced, Yaks have the most whiners by a longshot. A piece of advice to you guys, if you hate losing that much then get better! and stop making excuses why you lose.

CD; I know you are outmanned most of the time but I was impressed that you at least came out to fight and left the whining to yaks.

Agreed, it was a lot of fun and laughs. We normally don’t mess with SMC as a guild b/c zerg fighting ain’t really our thing. We are getting better at it but overall we still stick to small skirmishing and misdirection sneaky tactics. It was really funny b/c one of our guys threw down a ballista print to help choke you guys and I swear just before you knocked us off, one of our guys said, that’s not the best place for that as it’s too close to the edge. Next thing you know half of our group, including myself, were knocked off. The second big fight up there was much better even though you guys eventually took us down. I ran out of condi removal or I think I could have gotten away….kitten u necros…kitten u necros!

Do those rune/sigils sell for what they cost to make or more or do you make them for a loss? I chose to make the sprocket sigils to craft up because in the end I made money off of them and leveled. I guess to each his own but if I can level and not lose money I chose to go that route.

Last I looked perplex runes were for a loss or very minimal gain (price of ectos contributed to that). Back when perplex runes first came out and everyone was getting them as news of them being op was spreading I was crafting them by the hundreds, made a pretty good chunk of change. Having them be so op kinda made me feel like an illegal arms dealer lol XD

Haven’t played much this week but guess i didn’t miss much lol. So good, 7v2 + Vet + AC. I’d rather just fly my kite.

I like to go with my shadowstep away then shadow return on the stomp. It’s hilarious starting a stomp on a guardian then shadowstepping away and seeing the big wave of light bubble pop then returning for the kill lol. Just started playing on my mesmer in wvw so not too sure of the tactics for them, i’m curious to hear from some mesmers.

I’d recommend a couple of options already posted, crafting, champ trains, even just running through all the maps and just snagging waypoints an poi maybe an occasional vista (skip all the hearts and long stuff for later). Another thing is be sure to at least feed your mesmer the dailies. I did that for a week or two when i didn’t feel like rolling the mesmer. I’d do all but one easy daily achievement then swap over to the mesmer to finish the daily and get all the daily xp.

I’m on CD, currently we are matched up against FA and YB. How is it that both FA and YB can have zergs running in any map at any given time and outnumber CD by 3:1 most times and sometimes 4:1 yet we have a queue on the same map? Something is seriously broken with the queue system. We have zergs taking a keep yet we can only get 10-15 players to counter and we have reinforcements on teamspeak who are saying they are queue’d and have been for the past 20 min or so (sometimes upwards of hours). We even ran around the other night looking for afk’ers and pve’rs but seriously couldn’t find any. Seriously check into this Anet, wvw is broken as is (coverage wins 9 times out of 10) but this weird issue is making it completely ridiculous.

Definitely something wrong with the queue. I’m from CD, waited a few minutes to get into our BL only to find we could barely muster 15-20 people to defend some supply camps. Meanwhile YB & FA have zergs running about our BL.

Not to mention we went hours with no commanders on any map today >.>

yup, i q’d our bl late last night to get some random sentry kills (i’m gunna be honest i haven’t played a ton, roaming blows this week, all you run into is 15+ groups…or one roamer followed by 14+ coming over the hill). Sat in the q for over half an hour…finally got in and we had almost no one and the other servers were blobbing. Not saying that we would remotely come close to winning if the q was working as intended but something is seriously jacked up with the q.

I feel like people aren’t understanding what the OP meant by “Ego-afk”. Unless I am mistaken, going “Ego-afk” is standing your character in a spot and going afk for the sole purpose of letting other people see how awesome your title and gear is. So, I’m not sure that the top of the bank or that hidden garden in the grove really qualifies because basically no one is ever going to see you there. It isn’t fueling your ego if there’s no one to look at your shiny armor and marvel at your electronic girth.

At first we thought it was just that there were a huge amount of PvE’ers off doing random things, but after sending people to all corners of the map to check for people in the JPs, at the skrit, at the centaurs, etc. we have become convinced that there is something wrong with the queues. Anet has acknowledged there is something they are going to fix in the queues without specifically saying what the problem is, so who knows when it will be fixed.

This crap has been happening all everyday in this match up for us. Yes we are outnumbered and there are zergs everywhere but we have the map que’d and we’re still outnumbered 4:1….broken kitten kitten

I’m curious about this and I have heard mention in TS about how the map slots are not evenly allocated for all three servers. For example, if there are 300 slots on a map, each server is not allocated 100 each. So, one server could flood a map and create a situation where you are out-manned AND have a que. Again, not sure if this is how it works, but heard mention of it recently. Does anyone know for sure?

Anyone know how map numbers work? Just curious cause on FA BL every fight we find it’s 4:1 yet we have every single map que’d…do we just have that many worthless achieveey hunters
