further testing tonight and i can confirm that these skills even the auto of the sword are way too unreliable…they are missing all over the place. Not sure what the devs did in this patch but they totally screwed up this

Since the recent SB nerf i’ve been trying various weapon builds. I’ve used the greatsword and sword before so i’m familiar with the skills but recently (since this patch came out) i’ve noticed a handful of the skills “missing” very frequently. A few i’ve noticed:

Greatsword
Swoop, says its in 1100 range, but i’ll do it within 800 and it will say “miss”
Maul, will be right up on an enemy and will register “miss”

Sword
Serpent’s Strike, 75% of the time i zig zag off into a random direction not even remotely near the enemy and strike the air, “miss”
Hornet Sting only a couple times, but i can’t be sure if it was because the enemy moved.

Aside from the last one, the other three def feel different, less effective, not reliable, whatever. Anyone else noticing this?

i moved to a gs+s&wh build, 20/0/30/20/0, so far just initial pve testing it feels pretty good. Tomorrow night gunna run some dungeons with the guild so should be interesting lol

played with this build over lunch, worked pretty good in pve but that doesn’t mean much. One thing i tried was swapping my shortbow out for a great sword. So the whole attack that i was messing with on lvl 80 mobs, pop warhorn 5, switch to gs pop 3 to close the gap, followed by 5 to daze and stun, then 2 for a damage spike, swap back to s+wh pop 5 again for boons, then 3 for poison, then either 4 to finish em off or 2(x2) for an evade back then power spike back into the target (some auto attacks thrown in there). Just my noob tactics in pve, any of the better build makers feel free to chime in advice.

i know the feeling dude, i just got gw2 a few months ago and hit level 80 a month ago, loved my ranger the entire time…until yesterday…this patch really changed everything for me. My ranger just feels way off…even with new builds and new weapons…i don’t feel anywhere near as powerful as everyone else. Haven’t even attempted wvw yet after this patch…cause well yeah, i was getting rocked before hand i can only imagine what it’s like now

i’m in the same boat…have my main lvl 80 ranger, spent tons of time on, working on a legendary, wvw, working on map completion, having a good time, etc. Then this patch comes along and ruins my build, ruins my pets, ruins my sb, basically just ruins the entire experience. I wasn’t great in wvw but I at least could contribute in base defenses by supplying ranged defenses, now i can’t do jack, 1v1 is an instant death, I can mainly just sit around and track down sentrys and dolyaks. In PVE was working on the dreamer…but we all know about the sb nerf, been trying melee builds but honestly i just hate melee play. I enjoy ranged attacks. Can’t get in a group for dungeons, as soon as they see my class i’m insta-kicked, and it doesn’t matter anyways my pet gets one shotted every time and does squat. Tried playing my alts last night (thief, mesm, guard) and all of them were painfully hard to play. I dunno maybe it’s just time to sell everything and buy a bunch of zytaffy and eat it all then uninstall the game.

I’m in a bad spot, I tried my other characters last night (thief, mes, guard) and all of them were incredibly painful to play…i just like my ranger so much…but it’s hard to play the ranger now as my current build doesn’t feel the same, and changing up new weapons just feels off. I’ve always been a ranged weapon kinda guy instead of melee. This is just depressing. Why’d they have to touch the sb.

why not instead of nerfing the range, just adjusting the arrow speed, short bow should fire faster but have a slower arrow speed, making it slightly easier to dodge. Long bow however should take longer to fire but the arrow should travel much faster making it more deadly and harder to dodge. Just an idea….spitballin ideas….brainstorming…….something the devs probably never do…

it makes sense to have the pets as a passive buff or something, then we wouldn’t have to worry about this terribad ai balancing garbage… “The ranger class gets his power from nature around him” or something cheesy like that.

looking at the build the first trait in the marksman tree could benefit a swap to either keen edge or signet mastery (situational really)

This may be pointless in posting, but i was messing around with a build. Anyone want to look it over and see what i should change or edit to make it better? does it look any good? complete crap? I’m mainly a pve player, with dungeon runs thrown in , and a little wvw here and there for world completion and badges.

interesting…yesterday I went out and bought every weapon we can equip, i’ll have to give this a try. Started using S+WH and SB last night, using the SB mainly for its utility skills, most of the damage output comes from the S+WH. Works pretty good to be honest, just sucks cause i like range attacks better.

A pet rock, that way I could put him in my pocket and not have to worry about him dying every 10 seconds

i approve, played with my ranger for a few hours last night and it just felt shallow and weak. I did switch to sword+wh and that worked pretty well (pve though, wouldn’t stand a chance in wvw). What i started doing was starting off with the sword+wh, then swap to short bow to pop a could of the utility skills, then swap back to the sword and finish em off. This was all in Orr.

BM is dead after the recent patch….actually Ranger is going to be tough all together roaming after this patch.

After all, it’s the ONLY logical explanation for the pet damage reduction. Otherwise you would have to conclude that the Ranger dev is incompetent, and that’s highly unlikely.

Patches like this will straight up make me quit a game…same thing happened in Planetside 2…every patch they buffed one thing then nerfed like 3 things which basically rendered the buffs useless. I got fed up with all the up and down kitten so i quit playing. This game is not far off for me and i’ve only been playing for a few months

runs and grabs popcorn as a ranger player here in the similar situation, after todays patch i’m rolling a new character…rangers are terrible now

this blows, i’m working on my legendary and have been playing wvw for the badges…I may be lacking the pvp skills and i’ve been getting pretty much owned by everyone as it is, but still have been able to get kills and capture camps and such, having a pretty good time doing it…now they nerf the class even more, making us even weaker?…well there goes the idea of actually having any kind of fun in wvw.

This happened in planetside 2(another game that i use to frequent) they nerfed everything for literally no reason. For me the one thing that absolutely kills a game for me is complete garbage nerfs to stuff. Looks like this one might be getting shelved as well.

Double teaming is only problem when strongerst and weakliest server join and stomp middle server.
But its just how 3-way fight works sometimes. Its normal. Not fair, but normal.

it also sucks when the top two team up and roflstomp the weakest…

thieves don’t bother me too much, my issue with them is the second they get to half health they just stealth or teleport away. then five min later they pop up next to you to start the process over again. boring

Good advice RedJustice. Re-reading my post i may have been not so clear on what i was trying to say, My guild is casual, so they don’t play as often as me, however they do play from time to time, my offer was more for the casual players looking for people to play with. Anyone looking for people to party up are welcome to shoot me an invite, i might be solo (most likely) or i might have 1 or 2 guildies with me. And we’re also recruiting, so if your interested in that we can talk about that too.

I’m kinda in the same boat, have a guild with 5 or 6 players, but they don’t play as much (playing other games). However I play every night, mainly pve (been messing around with wvw here and there), i’m on central time, on crystal desert. I usually run solo so feel free to shoot me a party invite and i’ll join in on the shenanigans.

i find some of the chatter humorous, the one i hear in LA BLTP recently is between two npc’s one’s complaining about buying something for 20 gold today where it was 2 gold yesterday…i think that’s a little jab at the players from Anet lol. But then there are some that happen everytime you spawn at a waypoint that drive me nuts lol…i never go to hoelbrak anymore due to some of the annoying lines.

not gunna lie, in wvw always getting completely owned by thieves, the added cond and how it sounds like it works doesn’t make any kitten sense. hell their stealth and teleporting tricks alone are op, now we get punished if we even move lol this is dumb

I’m kinda confused with all this talk about how condition damage is broken and stuff, could someone care to fill me in? Also me and some guildies are gunna try a dungeon tonight and we’re all relatively speaking condition builds….are we totally screwed? lol

Honestly i highly doubt the price of the holo wings will go up, sure the event will end and there will be some people buying them up, but with how easy it is to get the shatter wings, and the fact that everyone is running around with wings, and then consider the new living story content, the wings will be old news. It’s kinda like the southsun tentacle back piece thingy…i use to see EVERYONE with those…now i rarely see anyone with that back piece (the wings are alot cooler though)

Teq is the next in line in terms of the level of the area, not as intense as CoJ but still fears you, has some strong poison, lots of other mobs, etc. The shatter is next, with less, but rightfully so as it’s an even lower level. You can’t make the FE and the Wurm too hard cause it’s in a starter zone.

IMO it’s not a matter and problem of difficulty, but a problem of mechanics. You don’t need a ton of AoE to make boss interesting, which CoJ illustrates. CoJ is not hard at all in a matter of fact.

Behemot for instance has a moment when he open portals to the Underworld spawning adds and beeing invulnerable himself. But why is this happening only once? Why can’t the portals spawn all the time and the more there is, the more adds are spawned, the more toughness/healing is given to Behe?

Why do we need a laser at Teq? What are those turrets all around for? At this moment there’s no point for them. But if… if Teq in his “flying move” was completely invulnerable to melee and ranged attacks (beeing out of range simply), at the same time spawning a hell of adds, and AoEing the poison, and the laser was the only way to shoot him down? And turrets were the core of defence against adds?

Golem could use a simple knockback, or some other kind of mini-mechanic (need to overcharge it from the control room to shrug off his energy shields? or stun him for a while?). The same concerns all the world bosses around – they’re boring not because they’re not one-hitting people. Bosses do not have to be difficult. They have to be, like the OP stated, player-engaging.

weren’t they talking about adding some sort of scavenger hunt to give players another way to get precursors? They need to make it so the scavenger hunt has a lot of stuff in Orr…then you’ll see a lot of players there

I do think they should add some aoe attacks to the wurm and the maw though, the FE and the SB both have aoe (SB’s aoe could stand to get buffed a tad up to the FE’s level) and even though it’s an auto 1 fest at least with the FE you have to move a bit.

For the dragons I wish they would add one more level 80 dragon.

I wonder if the price will go up really though, i know a lot of people that like the shatterer wings better, and those are piece of cake to get, i feel like the demand will drop once everyone starts snagging the shatterer wings and price on the holo wings wont go up (if it ever does) for a very long time. I know me personally don’t like the style of the holo wings and much prefer the shatterer wings for my toon. Just a guess….but also i could be dead wrong too lol

something is weird in this game with the loot, i’m sure it’s just the RNG being derpy but for me recently out of all my guildies that i party up with (around 2-4) I always get the extra rare or the extra unidentified dye or in this case the weapon tickets. My first ticket came when me and buddy were doing an event near the shatterer spawn. He had more magic find and we had both opened about 30ish coffers and bam…weapon ticket. Then recently we had been saving the coffers up to sell until I decided to open a couple stacks. Got about 20 into one stack…bam another ticket. Laughed it off and went on playing for a bit, came back an hour or two later and opened 30ish more bam another ticket…friends are now kitten ed. Got on today at lunch and opened around 50 and bam…another ticket. Not to mention this weekend i got some wings off a kitten moa.

It’s not just with this though, it’s almost like everything we do i’m always getting better stuff or more lucky. Salvaging ectos they rarely get multiples and are lucky to get one or two…yet I can pull like 6 from 2 or 3 rares. It’s just strange, you’d think that rng would be in their favor at least some of the time…hell all of them are sitting at more magic find than me lol. I have no idea what’s up with it.

You are the living proof,that something get really strange with their RNG and DR system or maybe other things we don’t know about..

I wouldn’t say i’m a big gems buyer, i’ve unlocked extra bank slots and bought a couple other things, nothing too extreme. We had a guy in our guild that would get everything a few months back, he hasn’t played very much recently so it’s like the luck has shifted to me or something, he didn’t buy any gems though.
