I must be one of the few that actually like the dailies. For me I work a lot and don’t have a ton of time to play. Most the time I can get home and work on some stuff and knock out a lot of my daily achievements. By the time i’m done with most of those it’s near time for me to get off for the night. It’s a perfect amount of content and stuff to do. But also if i’m not in the mood, hey guess what i can completely bypass the daily too, hell most times i’ll end up getting it anyways by doing other stuff. It doesn’t feel like a chore at all, i don’t understand why people say it is. If you are in a position where it feels like a chore or grind or whatever it might be time to take a break from the game, cause it sounds like you might be getting burned out on it

When i first started playing i started in a free trial weekend with a few other friends that were trialling it. The stuff that made us buy the game were the exploration (even if we were just in the starter zone), world events and events in general, wvw (a giant siege on a keep). But one thing is we didn’t go off on our own, we partied up and ran around as a group figuring stuff out. Made it a lot of fun for sure.

I commented in another thread about this…but to add to the subject of “5 man content” i’m going to have to define “mmo”

To me content like this that requires tons of players, spread across a whole map, working together, to accomplish a goal is based on the core ideals of an mmo. I think of 5 player content as more a co-op style content, which GW2 does offer, and will offer with the new fractal. I honestly don’t see a problem with the open world events that naturally form into massive amounts of players doing them.

As for the permanent content thing, I do agree it would be cool to see more of it stay, but i do like some of it ending. Just like every year when a holiday rolls around you enjoy it and do stuff for the holiday but once it ends it’s over till the next time. This new content does have some semi permanent stuff. apparently you haven’t been reading the posts coming in from people completing the invasions…if you just zerg everything you will fail, gotta split up and cover the map. Alot of servers are reporting finishing with only seconds to a min or so left. Sounds like fun to me. Also in the patch notes it does say this about the invasions…

“After the Clockwork Chaos release, the invasions will continue at a less frequent pace.”

So looks like the content will be semi-permanent.

So I guess this is the first big livng story patch we have seen. I just got back from the massive event in fireheart rise. We had about 8 commander pins on the map, each with about 30 peopel easily on them. I have a pic of what is undoubtedly 80 people, and it runs so smooth. We acc failed the event. We had 30 secs left on it and 5 percent on the last wave. It was fun though. Thanx Anet this is a hundred times better than last shores. Its seriously impressive in terms of capability. All the different factions, the massive amounts of DE’s. This is exactly what I wanted to see happen with DE’s and the Living Story.

hopefully this will get hot fixed or just send out communicators to everyone’s characters (kind of like they did with the queen’s gauntlet tickets at the start of that event).

I have a suggestion to all those folks getting harassed by the farmers…just go to lions arch and map chat to gather up a zerg, then go to the event and finish that kitten then /dance all over the dead mobs bodies followed up with “u mad bro”. oh the tears you will enjoy

Why are you including farmers in Frostgorge Sound in this stereotype? The only event you fail there is the quaggan event, which spawns the champion quaggan. However, if someone does complete the event, the quaggan doesnt spawn, but all it really does is remove 1 champion out of the rotation.

That event and Inquest event in Malchor’s Leap where if you fail you get a champion to spawn are poorly designed by Anet. There is absolutely no reason to complete the first event, because 1)you will get credit for a event (the second event), 2)you get champion loot, and 3)the outcome has the same impact on the “living world” that it would have if you had completed the event.

I for one enjoy seeing the new life brought back to Frostgorge besides the times when Claw of Jormag is up. Frostgorge is my favorite map, so having something to do there is awesome.

I know I deviated from the main topic a lot, but the point Im trying to make is that you should not bash the people in Frostgorge for just running around killing champions.

This, I got in a zerg of like 40ish people (or at least that’s how many i could see rendering) and we were running the zerg train. We had some funny chats over /say, met some cool people, got some loot, had a great time.

I’m on Crystal Desert, we normally are T4 and are matched up with equivalent T4 servers. We have zergs (which for you may be considered small groups lol) and we have tons of roamers. A couple weeks ago when we were against SBI & EBay there were solo roamers all over the place. Also tons of small skirmishes, 2v2’s 3v3’s 4v4’s. A lot of fun. Recently however we’ve been matched up with FA, SOS, and we just literally don’t have the numbers compared to them. When match-ups like this happen our roamers tend to take the week off or just zerg up. Pretty much any T4 server will give you what you’re looking for. If you are going to switch though, Crystal Desert would love to have ya

If you’re comfortable with your ability to avoid damage then you can change the Soldiers amulet to a full Zerker one and the Runes to something like 6 Ogre or 5 Scholar and 1 Divinity.

If the Necro uses conditions you’ll eat him for breakfast, and the Guardian/Engineer will die quickly once you strip their boons with S/D #3. As for the other Warrior, they will be easy with D/P #3 and #5 which apply blinds.

Has anyone done any small group roaming lately. If so, how is it? I have some friends who are thinking about transferring to CD, but are afraid that it’s either Zerg or PvD.

Really depends on who the opponents are. Lately CD is getting matched up with non-stop T2 pros so it’s pretty difficult to do roaming. The week we had BP and EB though there was plenty of roaming to be had, even ran into several people on both BP and EB that would /bow to ask for duels and party afterwards to chat.

This, if the match up is like the last couple weeks it’s such an uphill battle for us (not cause we’re loosing just because we are so outnumbered) that folks tend to shift to pve and pvp cause it’s frustrating & demoralizing. When we get matched up with servers more on our playing field its tons of fun, there is something for everyone. Small zergs, roamers, 2v2’s, pvd’s, you name it we have it lol.

edit: don’t get me wrong though we still have a lot of players playing wvw, we just literally can’t compete with a 7:1 ratio all the time

Aight so my guild is planning a fight night coming up in a pvp server. Basically everyone is just going to hop in and were gunna do some 1v1, 2v2 duels. Should be a good time. However I never play pvp lol. Gunna try a ton of builds, probably a bunch of fails but hey that’s part of the fun. However I would like to try some actual serious builds too. My wvw build will get incinerated in a duel were the player knows i’m coming. So my question is what are some viable thief dueling builds? I’ll be going up against all the classes maybe, for sure a guardian, warrior, engi, and necro (eek). Any suggestions, tips, pointers, etc are welcome. Show me the way oh 1337 forum thieves

Event failing is not favored by Anet. They will work on making completing events more desired. How? I’m not sure yet. But it makes since to get more reward for completing events & not for failing.

The champs themselves in Orr will not be nerfed, they will be the same. 2 different topics when you mention “Orr champ farming” are going on.

We’re in a tough spot, in t4 we do pretty well and that bumps us up. However the jump from T4 to T3 is a pretty big jump, and we start getting spread to thin…we’re more a T3.5

I think necro is potentially a great roaming buddy. Although they have low mobility, launching a backstab burst combo the moment a necro uses corrupt boon to remove that protect/regen/aegis/stability is quite the strategic instagib.

yup, my roaming buddy is a 100% condi duration necro ( i know duration doesn’t mean much with all the condi cleansers). We’ll do the exact combo you described and it works wonders. Most times if my burst doesn’t drop em his condi burn will eat them away, hell even after they run into a tower they usually drop from his condis lol.

Another thing I forgot to mention is as a thief I have the most trouble with thieves and necros. Having my necro wingman around is most of the time thief deterrent. He just drops condis on them or near us and the thieves just run away.

I read that the 3rd party camera tool was a bannable offense also, gives the player an advantage. A prime example is in wvw when using an arrow cart, if you can move the camera in a way to hit an area with the default camera then fair game. But with the 3rd party add on you are able to zoom out and see everything and hit the arrow cart anywhere (within range).

I always assume the people who post these things and cry about laughing are the troll thieves/warriors/mesmers/etc who can’t do anything but run away from a fight. Even when you try to fight them 1v1 they just run run run.

The only problem with the emotes is that it shows no sense of sportsmanship.

When you back people up to their spawn and they keep coming giving it their all, despite being outnumbered 3 to 1 you could, idk, show a little class.

This is the reason i’ve complained about it in this thread. If i’m out there and get in a 1v1 and get stomped fine /laugh /dance /dowhatever i don’t care hell i’ll even laugh at it too. It’s those zergs where it is like 8:1 ratio and at our spawn and the whole group is doing all the emotes rubbing it in our faces and saying we run from fights. lol what are we suppose to do just run into the zerg and get instagibbed. A little sportsmanship and class goes a long way. Other servers i’ve played against that totally outmanned us shows some class and I enjoy fighting them. Servers like FA where we are totally outmanned and get the constant shennanigans is just dumb. And of course i’m sure the class will show in this thread with the bashing of this post as well. For those who say that farming doesn’t hurt anyone, I have this to say especially when it comes down to doing the Meta event that opens up the gates of Arah. Currently there are several threads about farmers who are intentionally failing the “Secure the Pact staging area at Shank Anchorage” part of the Meta event in Orr to farm all the Champs that spawn during the event. Thus causing gates of Arah to be permanently closed and thus keeping players from finishing their personal stories, and or from getting Shards of Zhaitan for work towards thier Legendary. This is GAME BREAKING and needs to be addressed as soon as possible.

It’s not in the least game breaking and I’m no farmer.

The gates to the dungeon aren’t closed, you can still enter the dugeon. Only the waypoint of the dungeon is closed. So go to the nearest way point and run to the dungeon.

Except the run to that waypoint isn’t exactly a walk in the park. Its like I have a waypoint but I cannot use it because people are keeping it locked.

I agree that it’s not game breaking because the dungeon can still be accessed but this is starting to approach the definition of griefing.

I want to go to orr to kill champs just to kitten off the farmers now. Events in the game are made to be completed successfully, they have zero grounds to report or get you banned. Happy event completing.

The really sad thing is that even though we have virtually no presence on the maps CD is gaining points on the MOS site.

This is the problem when you pit together different servers without some form of control over the population. CD are correctly positioned where we are right now, above the likes of Ebay/SBI/YB but below Mag/SOS. But that is just looking at things simple. The truth is, there is a big gap between CD and SOS/Mag in terms of wvw participation, like there is one between SOS/Mag and FA/TC/DB. The gap between CD and the servers below are smaller, hence the tighter scores, but overall, we are just about right where our strength puts us, which is neither here nor there.

Im starting to feel like I need to make a new math heavy thread about how to properly add defensive stats to your build again. All 3 other people who suggested it in this thread are doing it inefficiently and giving up more damage than they need to.

You get more damage reduction and EHP from Soldiers compared to Valk, and you can achieve higher EHP and Damage mixing Berserkers and Soldiers than Valk and Berserkers because of the distribution of Crit Damage and Crit Chance you achieve.

You just have to recognize who is really trying to help and who is simply talking about things they have no idea about. General rule of thumb is to ask everyone who says X is better than Y for the math if you think it could be questionable, and ignore them completely when they cant/dont provide it.

I wasn’t saying my build is better than anyone else’s, i was just sharing my build. Instead of posting a reply saying you’re terrible, etc. Why not give suggestions and explanations as to why something in the build you see wouldn’t work or be inefficient? And no “go look at my thief builds in my sig” aren’t suggestions.

My main was my ranger, until i started wvw’ing. I tried a couple other classes but the play style of the thief really lends itself to wvw. The ability to get out of a fight so fast and safely translates into a lot of confidence for me. This allowed me to be more offensive and to try fights that I wouldn’t have tried with my ranger. However in pve, if it’s a single mob or vet i’m fine with my thief but multiple targets and my thief gets wrecked. I always use my ranger in pve for the tankiness of it.

i have the starter bag, another 15 slot bag, a 15 slot crafting bag, a 15 slot oiled bag, and a couple 15 slot safe box or whatever they’re called. Obviously all the loot starts to pile up in the first two bags, junk goes to the oiled bag first, when i salvage items and gather crafting components go to crafting bags. The safe boxes at the bottom don’t deposit or compact so down there i keep all my food, boosts, tonics, swappable gear, etc. all bags hidden so it’s one big giant bag to my eyes. Works very well.

Man funny you bring them up, I ran into them last night on EB and wow I was impressed…they were smashing larger zergs. Me and my roaming buddies followed them for a couple camps and wow. They are efficient as hell

Your disgusting mentality is the reason why GW2 and wvw will lose more and more players. sos and cd are not even playing anymore, because they are getting destroyed non stop on EQ. Even if their players decide not to quit GW2, we may have nothing to do until the reset. Meanwhile other players (on other servers) are gaining new WXP upgrades.

The reason WvW will lose players on weeks like this is due to the terrible match making system. There is no reason a server of DB’s size should be against CD (don’t know much about sos). We honestly just don’t have the numbers to cover anything, it’s just zergs everywhere. Oh and as i said earlier, the fact that DB pushed our mini zerg all the way to the spawn stairs on EB made things so much better. Lol we get it you are a huge server, we have no chance, hell you are already up double our score, so why not show some class and at least let us get out of spawn before the bag farming starts. A few of us just sat on the stairs with the invulnerable buff and we were still targeted and fired at lol. It was ridiculous.

I guess people are bored. I don’t think any of the major DB guilds enjoy spawn camping. And fairweathers… well, nobody can control them. We face the same problem, when we play against JQ/TC etc.

I’m happy that we got to see some great GvG action at least.

Actually DB did drag 20 omegas on overlook twice.
And that was on this match up.

That was the 1st day and that was in respect to JQ.

Just last week, I recall JQ coming in one gate and FA coming in the other in our DB Bay, then the same thing happened the next night on our Hills. Prior to our Bay being taken, I observed FA and JQ zerging together at the west Sentry by Garrison. Yeah we got tag teamed by two servers at the same time more than once and seeing what I saw, it wasn’t a coincidence. DB still managed to keep a slight lead on FA for most of the week. Frustrating at times but I’d take that matchup instead of this one any day.

Yep, that’s the DB spirit. Except not. We have our own share of fairweathers. If you’ve been on DB long enough, you will know that.

From the limited amount I’ve played this week, I have seen SoS and CD fighting hard. We got wiped by CD a few hours back in their garrison. This weekend, SoS kept attacking SM relentlessly, despite smaller numbers.

A lot of us will take a JQ/TC match up too, over this one. But that’s not because SoS and CD did not come out to fight. They did. It’s just the matching system.

Lol we get it you are a huge server, we have no chance, hell you are already up double our score, so why not show some class and at least let us get out of spawn before the bag farming starts. A few of us just sat on the stairs with the invulnerable buff and we were still targeted and fired at lol. It was ridiculous.

I guess people are bored. I don’t think any of the major DB guilds enjoy spawn camping. And fairweathers… well, nobody can control them. We face the same problem, when we play against JQ/TC etc.

I’m happy that we got to see some great GvG action at least.

yeah i agree, too bad there isn’t a better system for the matchmaking. I wish the best for all the servers in the next match up.
