As i’ll agree with what’s already been said, the new EotM map with all the edges, i’ve seen a spike in GS mesmers, also Fear necros, scorpion wire thieves, pretty much any knock back build…

Opening the TP had always caused a little bit of a lockup as the running awesomium_process.exe accessed the TP server and loaded graphics, which also used CPU, but it was not really all that bad, but noticeable.

However, the reason for the recent increase in very noticeable lag/lockup/delay when opening the TP is because the awesomium_process.exe used to launch upon opening the TP for the first time upon entering the game and stay running the entire time you played and then be closed upon exiting the game. Apparently, in addition to the serious issue of the BLTP interface disabling keyboard (chat/movement) binds when being interacted with, the awesomium_process.exe is launching when you open the TP and then being closed once you exit the TP…having to relaunch the process every single time you open your TP up during gameplay. This will cause a second or three of locking up while the process is executed and accesses the TP server. I think they made this change so the process doesn’t eat resources for the entire time you are playing just because you used the TP once. I think they tried to improve performance by closing the process when not in use, but underestimated the frequency at which players access the TP…leading to constant relaunching of the program.

interesting….if that’s the case…looks like were stuck with it like this…bummer….

UPDATE TO THE ISSUE: After all the patches yesterday this is still happening, i also noticed if you are moving and trying to sell something the second you click “Match lowest seller” it stops your movement. Really frustrating when trying to sell stuff on the run.

From what I recall it has always happened to me every time I open TP. It always have frozen game for 1 or 2 secs so I even have thought it’s a “normal” behavior (given that TP uses a external application to work [awesomium.exe]).

I know for a fact that it hasn’t always done this, I run the champ trains a lot and sell stuff on the run/jump and ive never had it freeze like that each time.

After the new patch, whenever i open the BLTC everything on the screen freezes for about half a second, then everything resumes as normal. Checked on every other window, the BLTC is the only one that does it.

Sure there will be a lot of kitten asking everyone duels, let’s just add a report function for duels harassment or add an icon on your char to tell that you don’t accept duel from anyone.
Even so I’d like to duel my friends in the open world instead of afking with them.
And no, mist pvp is no good as long as the custom arena is in gem stores.

You can stop saying it can be ignored or have a button to not accept duels. It’s been suggested by almost every single player who supports dueling for over a year now. We get it. It’s not the main issue for many so it’s not even worth discussing any longer.

what is the main issue for many then? cause all i’ve gotten out of the people against duels are that you will get spammed for dueling all the time.

This is still a nerf in the respect that often you will have 3 illusions out, activate a shatter, and then evade to generate more whilst your previous 3 are running to their target.

I’m willing to bet that it will generate clones in that case. Even though those illusions show up in the dots, they don’t actually count towards your illusion count, which is why you can pump more than 6 illusions out at 1 time using shatters.

As a shatter main, I hope so. I actually like this change for the fact that it’s nerfing the cheese condi builds that rely on clone death.

I don’t think they realize this is also used for normal shatters (especially the distortion shatter). The same issue could have been solved by putting a 1-2s ICD on the condi clone death traits so you cant spam it, and it would have left the rest of the builds that use it for survival or shatters more useful. I just don’t think any of them play mesmer really…. All this is going to do is just make people run towards the PU builds for survival (since the damage output was nerfed TWICE: crit and clone death)

Or you could actually read/listen and realize that you’re 100% wrong.

I have no idea…it seems like I misheard what they said anyways. They were pretty hard to understand at times, so I’m just going to wait until theres a youtube summary by someone else who can actually talk clearly, or they release something typed.

In Truth, if we spent money in this product, we all should have the same experience whatever we can, comparing WvW with Tyria, ppl like pve, ppl like pvp, and if the Company can make PvP/Duels possible in Tyria Maps just for the fun for those who want pvp there, why not???

So those who want it should take precedent over those who do not? Why is their “fun” more important then the fun of those who do not want it? Open world dueling is annoying. Why should my game play be made less fun so yours can be made more fun?
If you want dueling, take it to the mists. If the devs want to add instanced dueling, fine, go to it and leave the rest of us out of it. Open world dueling? Not on your life. It’s bad enough having to deal with the costume brawls, dueling would be far worse in every way.

If you don’t mind me asking, why is open world dueling so annoying? not trying to start drama, just genuinely curious.

Is there really anything more annoying than some form of pop up (in this case a dueling challenge of some sort) appearing while you’re in a fight? Imagine the griefing people could do at an organized Tequatl kill if a bunch started spamming duel requests while people are trying to focus on the fight.

Dueling in the PvE world has far too much troll potential. (This is completely aside from the facts regarding coding mentioned earlier.)

Thieves, Mesmer and eles (celestial) who already got their ascended WWW set would possibly quit the game if their 600+ gold set becomes useless…..

As someone who runs a power mesmer build with multiple pieces of ascended gear, if they nerf crit damage…yeah i might be taking a long break from the game. This is the main reason why i quit playing Planetside 2. It’s essentially a bait and switch tactic. You have something, that players acquire then it gets nerfed into the ground and is worthless. Then the player base moves onto the next thing. I didn’t deal with it in PS2 and won’t deal with it here. I’m ok with slight adjustments after a launch but the constant stat tweaking drives me completely insane.

I’ve always believed that dodging should be a lot more limited and used as a last resort to get out of a jam rather than the first. Reduce the two dodges we currently have into one and bake a stun break into it to make it your one get out of jail card. Then slap on an appropriate cooldown and there you go.

The mitigation of damage should be accomplished through things like active blocking.

I play mesmer, run a vigor on crit gs & s+p build, i have zero blocking skills on those weapon sets, in order to get active blocking i’d have to drop one of my utilities. Something like this would essentially kill my build. In fact i’m sure changes like these would kill a lot of builds.

There’s plenty of open world dueling, it is called WvW.
If that form of it doesn’t stand well with you then place your complaints there.
Or at least ask for it in the sPvP area, where it would probably do some good.

Some folks in various threads like this have made the claim it would bring back people into the PvE maps. If that were the case ANet should really put the duel system in the Mists because there’s been constant wailing that sPvP is boring.

PvP belongs in the Mist, plain and simple. PvE needs a stronger story, interesting dynamics, and various other polish to some dungeons.

Back in GW1 times it was the Battle isles, which was separated from the PvE elements.
Yes other games might have this in their titles, but GW2 is not them.
It is GW2 and it should do what it wants instead of following other games.

Should I wish for skiing jet pack battle armor since Tribes has it?
Or ask for the Meld from Firefall? Pandas as a playable race?
No, because that’s not GW2.

If you miss the days of open PvP and can find titles that do such a mechanic go play them for a while. Bringing it to the open map will not guarantee it stop folks from camping Lion’s Arch.

The PvE map is for cooperation on missions and playing out storylines, the Mists is where people should go to bash one another’s heads in.
As stated earlier in my post, if any place needs dueling it would be the Mists because playing capture point game mode time and time again is boring.

Yes Costume Brawl exists and it is mostly played in the cities (LA the prime example) in at least my server. I’ve rarely seen anyone use it in PvE. No doubt they would fear someone troll them by dragging mobs to their area.
So if they are in PvE and try to Costume Brawl, chances are they would be in a remote area. We might as well keep them in a safe remote area like the Mists so their PvP experience isn’t interrupted.

Another point to address, “It’s simply change this code…” No chances are the coding isn’t a simple manner. If it were why wasn’t it added already? They have bigger issues to handle and if that were to ever occur it would have to wait.

tldr version PvP folks need the Mists cleaned/improved upon. PvE just need better story and rewards to drag folks out into maps. Combining the two doesn’t make sense when technically we have two game modes and a “middle ground”.

I’m willing to accept a pvp only in the mists idea…but my main issue is I want to be able to duel with my pve/wvw gear against friends on different servers…i’m on YB and have friends on BG, SOR, hell even Manvil Rock. If they had some sort of battle arenas where all you would have to do is guest to a server and duel someone i’d be 100% happy with that.

As I have not experienced Dueling in previous games, I am having a problem understanding.

  • A duel is between one player(or team) and another aka Player vs. Player. Isn’t that what the PvP part of the game is all about?
  • Why should they bring the game type of PvP into PvE? Isn’t that what WvW is all about?

To me, PvE is about helping your fellow player not smiting her bones to ashes and dancing on her grave.

I guess I just see it as a conflict of the idealistic purpose of the individual game types.

As some others have said, pvp uses separate gear, alot of stuff is standardized to make it more balanced.

On the other question, what they could get from bringing dueling into pve is allowing pve players to dip their toes into pvp. When you jump into wvw for the first time it can be extremely overwhelming and brutal. Having the dueling option (maybe even make it where you don’t stomp the player, or don’t kill them, after the duel both players resume back to full health) would allow pve players to get friendly practice at pvp. I just introduced a guildie to pvp, took him into an empty pvp server and we dueled, and he freakin loved it, wants to practice but loved it. It could potentially help bridge all the game modes.

pretty much any very high stealthy thief…i usually don’t have a problem with thieves but it’s the ones that are literally out of stealth for one or two seconds that screw me up. It’s mainly because I constantly drop target and most skills I can’t use because i have to have a target.

When EQ Next comes out and if it is at good as it sounds like it could be, GW2 will probably take a hit to the player base and WvW will empty out even more.

i wont touch that game until they show how the combat and pvp (if they even have any) will handle. Gunna say this though, any game is going to have a hard time beating GW2 in terms of combat..luv dis combat

I feel like dueling would be awesome, but it would have to be done correctly. Obviously duels would have to have a system in place where you accept it, kinda like accepting a party invite. I could see after you accept the duel an on screen pop up does a 10-5 sec countdown, so it’s clear that the duel has started.

What about scaling? In a low level area and an 80 duels a 10? As soon as the duel starts does it scale up the 10, like it does in wvw? to me that makes the most sense.

Mob interference? While i like the aspect of mob interference in wvw, cause it adds some extra strategy (rallying off pve mobs and such), not sure how it could work in a duel. If a random pve player passes by the duel that has a couple mobs in it, they could just kill the mob and then the downed player would rally. For this i’d say only make duels available in duel rings, you could have these scattered all through out the world, in various locations. Tie them in with the lore a little, make them look like training grounds at serph camps for example.

I’m against the idea of making duels instanced, because it’s fun to watch duels. If they were all instanced then you’d have to be actively in the party to even get in the instance.
If they made the actual duel arenas instanced but viewable by the open world (kinda like the queen’s gauntlet or whatever it was called) then that could be a good system.

How gear works in wvw ?

As explained by the posts above, Ascended/Legendary are the best stats. Exotics are slightly less. Legendary only comes on weapons. Ascended and Legendary takes some grinding materials to craft them. My suggestion, work on a build, use this site http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/ to plug in the different gear. Start out with exotics, you can get them cheap using gold, karma, or even badges from wvw. Then just play the game and have fun, collect materials and work on ascended if you want to. A lot of people will complain about the grind and all this but if you just don’t focus on it and have fun it’s not that bad. I’ve already crafted 3 ascended weapons for a few of my characters and it wasn’t like “ok i need to craft an ascended weapon this instant”. I would just work on it here and there.

I guess the real problem is the targeting system then, it’s an excercise in frustration fighting a class that can stealth.

The player stealthing should also lose target in my opinion, seems fair.

That’s an interesting concept, losing target while in stealth. As someone who’s played both thief and mesmer up to level 100 in wvw (yeah i know not a ton, leave me alone) mesmers stealth is no where near the thieves’ stealth. Played a PU build and i much prefer my custom dps build (which only uses decory to reposition and mass invis to escape) over the PU. If the player runs you are literally just standing there flickin pebbles at their back as they skip across the horizon.

there are tons of build options using traveler’s, just re-create the build using the traveler’s, that’s what i’ve done on my power mesmer and condi mesmer. For me the advantage of dropping a speed utility to pick up another utility is priceless, I have traveler’s on my thief, power mesmer, condi mesmer, and soon to be on my necro (once i hit level 80). Sure i could probably min/max my build a little more using different runes, but then i’d be out a utility, that could ultimately help me win.

You can still find them to harvest in Kessex Hills and from toxic bosses in those areas. Toxic events are also still out there and in Queensdale.

i’m curious if they’ll still pop up in kessex hills after the current LS ends.

not anymore, they nerfed the crafting experience, its more along the line of 7 levels per crafting (with booster), this is accurate as my buddy did a couple professions just a couple days ago.

This may have been asked before, so excuse me for that, but is there any source to get these now (besides the tp)? Reason i’m asking is i’m working on a build and considering using the toxic buff consumables as it gives me some solid stats for the build i’m going for. However it dawned on me that these might keep climbing in price since the living story has come and gone, and that would be a real pain for a build. Surely they’ll introduce a source for these somehow (i mean why would they introduce the buffs if the mats for them just dry up). Anyways, thanks in advance.

Because exploring new areas while leveling was one of the best experiences I have had while playing Guild Wars 2.

The problem is that the maps are going to be level 80 areas and you’re not going to level up in them.

It’s almost like they would have to add 3-4 maps, starter, mid range, 80…cough…cough…expansion…cough…
