Hey there everyone, Team Raven is looking to add more members to our gaming community. What is Team Raven you ask?

Team Raven: (n) a close knit group of gamers that enjoy hanging out and joking around while playing video games.

More specifically we are a mature age 18+ multi game community (GW2, Minecraft, Everquest 2, Planetside 2, BF3 & 4, Diablo, pretty much anything we’ll play). We currently have 20 members and our community offers a website with forums, 2 whitelisted minecraft servers (vanilla and modded), and a mumble server. Our guild also has a few twitch.tv streamers and we have a twitch team set up (twitch.tv/team/teamraven). Our main timezone is NA est. and cst. but we do have one EU member.

Our guild just recently transferred to YB (yesterday actually lol) so we are starting fresh! We are a PvX guild but i’d say we are about 60% WvW and 40% PvE. Since we’re a smaller guild we focus on roaming, small man fights, havoc, scouting, stuff like that. We’re semi competitive but joking around and having fun is the top priority. We’re looking to expand our GW2 presence and would love to welcome new members.

The most entertaining thing so far about this match is reading the HoD website and them obsess over PPT and how much they seem to be gunning for NSP (I guess that is understandable since CD is sitting this one out).

Queue intro music. G’day. I’m Steve Irwin, and today on Internet Troll Hunter we are about to enter the basement of some very disappointed parents. This is the home of the internet troll. It is a vile but fascinating creature which is especially disliked by its own server Sorrows Furnace. Queue transition music. The first thing I notice after taking my first step down into the cellar is a dank, musky smell. Crikey! The scent of that putrid bile is overwhelming even for me. I can tell we are getting closer from the loud and very distinct mouth breathing. Keep your eyes open… Oh! There it is! Don’t move or make too much noise or you’ll startle it! Wow… isn’t she a ‘beaut. This boys and girls is one of the biggest internet trolls on the WvW forums. Although the creature is banned on his other account from posting in the matchup threads (for now) it posts on this alt account. Notice how it lurks forums of a server that it hasn’t been matched up with for weeks because it is still emotionally hurt from a previous matchup. been wondering the same thing, we haven’t lost any guilds since season, we beat ehmry bay last week by the skin of our teeth so maybe folks are out of energy and it’s really close to the holidays (i for one am swamped at work and have only been able to get on a couple hours of the week so far).

FA is now holding it’s own against Gold League servers and YB is beating SBI and Mag (who actually would’ve made silver league interesting) this week. But that’s irrelevant because FA was put into Silver League.

Funny how that works out right? Those rumors of FA sandbagging into silver that flew around for weeks come to mind…bring it up to a die hard wvw FA player, it always ensures a good time.

There is a rather big issue here.
If the matches are too random people will complain about steamrolling/being steamrolled, if the matches are less random people will complain about always facing the same servers.

Don’t really see how they could solve that however. I suppose they could alternate between the two now and then, but that is not really a solution either.

yup it’s a double edge sword…me personally would rather at least be able to play and not get completely rolled like the old system. I don’t care if i fight the same server over and over with slight variance thrown in, at least the fights are more entertaining.

But DB clearly doesn’t belong in T5. It’s pretty much been a solid T3 server for a while. You’d think our chance of being matched to other T3 teams would be much higher if they intend to reduce the match up discrepancies. Something is certainly weird.

yeah i feel ya, we had the same thing happen to us on CD before the season (except the other way) we got matched up against FA, MAG, and DB for like 4 weeks straight, every match was a total curb stomp and yet we still rose to T3…hopefully after a couple weeks you guys will rise back to your respected tier. I’m also assuming these charts are set in stone, i’m assuming they dynamically update week to week to keep them accurate.

Meh, if you don’t enjoy playing just stop playing, no sub fee, all this content is FREE. I have fun playing all aspects of the game, i don’t focus on “grinding” for achievements, or “grinding” for gold or mats. I just run around and experience the new content. If something about the new content sucks or annoys me, i hop in wvw and roam around and curb stomp people. The game is fun if you just relax and not care too much. And if you’ve gotten to the point where everything is boring you then it might be time for a break or a new game.

agree 100%, i run a phantasm clone spamming hybrid build and love all the constant explosions all over the place.

I’m def. anxious to try out the new heal. I run a 30/30/10/0/0 phantasm & clone spam build with near perma vigor. I’m usually always in situations where all of my clones are up. Wouldn’t touch the new heal in a zerg battle but for my roaming small party needs this might work really well with my build.

In PvE you manage to have triple phants up when you use a util phant. And then any ability which summons a clone (dodge, GS#2, Staff#2, Scepter#1-3, Scepter#2, Decoy …) does destroy a valuable phantasm.

But the main issue with with DE is that you sacrifice your valuable endurance for summoning illusions. Just turn it off and see how often you simply dodge without any reason.
It’s also a reason I’d like to see scepter’s #1 reworked.

for a build with high crit chance and DE I don’t see a problem with it due to the almost constant vigor from critical infusion.

I don’t know much about necro’s but i think i remember reading that one of their healing skills allows them to turn condi’s into health, so if you’re relying heavily on condi’s then that could be an issue (basically feeding them health). I run a dps/phantasm 30/30/10/0/0 build and don’t have too much trouble with them. I just make sure I have my condi clear mantra up before going into a fight. I wanna hear other responses though too.

dual pistol mesmer? doesn’t our pistol phantasm have dual pistols? makes sense to me, give me a mh pistol.

I started on the ranger but hated how the pet ai handled. I then swapped to thief and played that alot, tons of wvw. That got boring really fast, so i swapped to my low level mesmer. Been roaming with that in wvw for the last few weeks and freakin love it. Has the stealthy aspect but requires a lot more than the thief. Tons of fun.

For the most part, I am enjoying this week in WvW, even if fights with organized groups are a little hard to find. I’ll admit – we aren’t doing well with points, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen Ebay focus on points for more than a day at a time.

Shout out to the two CD roamers that saved my fellow tree and I in EBG tonight from that BP warrior and his friends – you guys made our night!

Seems like you just caught on. Most serious thieves that have been regulars on the forum have moved on a different game or professions. I personally run an Axe/Warhorn+GS Warrior now. It has more sustain, group support, condition cleansing, healing, mobility, damage and burst compared to my Berserker/Valkyrie D/D+SB thief and let’s face it, that profession will get all the future love as well.

Wanted to thank NSP and IOJ, it was so refreshing to be able to actually roam this week. I had some of the best fights out of the entire season during this matchup. /salute

Not sure on all the stuff, but i’ve seen mesmer commanders before and when commanding pugs they’ll drop a portal for portal bomb but then the pugs will follow the dorrito so the portal bomb is ruined lol. It seems like mesmers would be better for the commanders assistants or something, like same party, same voice comms, etc.

I run both, GS + S/P, drop the duelist, pistol stun, swap clone imobilize, blurred frenzy, weapon swap (gain might with sigil), gs vuln, gs zerk, weapon swap (gain might with sigil), repeat. Usually one rotation in and I have the enemy running for the hills. I also like opening with S/P cause then that means I usually have my GS out for the end of the fight, good for crippling runners or knocking back thieves out of SR. All in all a pretty sweet setup. I’m running a 30/30/10/0/0 build.

I roam on my mesmer now, but when i did play my thief I mainly roamed and would join the zerg if i saw a big fight coming up. My usual routine for zerg fights, shadowstep directly to the middle or slightly behind the enemy zerg (that way i’m behind the front line where most of the damage is at) and dagger storm. Once that runs out or my health is low i shadow return and heal up. Then short bow auto and cluster bomb and poison. If i’m with a zerg attacking a keep, smc, etc. I usually hang out around the broken outer walls ambushing or stall players as they run back to defend. Once the door drops run back to the zerg for the lord loot and wxp.

Or Duncan.. mentioned it would be cool if we could get a 5 man mesmer team together.. annnd all look exactly the same. we wouldn’t have to go deck ourselves out in max gear or anything.. just some cheap stuff for the lolz. The invaders couldn’t tell what the hell was going on if there were 20 identical mesmers running around O.o

potion of ascalonian mages = awesome. We did this once and it was great fun. What we started doing was standing on each other to look like one player afk, then when a player attacks just burst out and drop clones everywhere. The “oh kitten” moments from the enemies were hilarious.
