when i was leveling my mesmer i ran into the same issues, i was getting owned and it was tough. I finally cracked and leveled my mesmer to 80 through crafting (i mainly play wvw). Now in pve I can take on tons of enemies, more than I ever could with my ranger or thief. I think practice and knowing how the whole class works helps. Also playing a ton of wvw really makes the pve side of the game seem very easy. Nothings more of a challenge than fighting against another person, gets your blood pumpin.

I’ve never understood why people run the queensdale train instead of the frostgorge train. Whenever I run the frostgorge train i get significantly better loot. Is there a real logical reason to do the queensdale over frostgorge? serious question.

PvE & WvW – No idea what it’s called lol 30/30/10/0/0 GS + Sword/Pistol DPS build

For me I enjoy the frequent content, as I play a lot and if content only comes out every month it gets a tad boring. They could maybe do the meta achievement for each living story over the course of a month, but have the story broken into two chapters, one in the first two weeks and then the other in the other two weeks. Players would still get a full month to do the content and the meta but there would still be new stuff coming out every two weeks.

One thing that I personally think is hurting the content is the developer live streams. The balance preview streams are fine, it’s the content play through streams that i’m talking about. New content comes out, the devs do a play through stream showing off the new dungeon or new instance, etc. well then everyone in the stream knows exactly what to expect and what to do. There is no exploration or discovery. Everyone gets in there and already knows the general scheme of the thing and just replicates what they saw in the stream. I personally won’t watch any content preview stream anymore. I only watch wvw and balance streams.

Lol, we use to do this with my guild (when everyone played still ). We all made asura mesmers and would roam around in a 5 man mini mesmer crew. It was hilarious, little dudes all over the place. Totally forgot about the one time a zerg rolled up on us to defend a camp, cause our 15 clones + 5 of us makes us look like a 20 person blob lol.

FA apparently got some EU recently so they should be a good fight. I wouldn’t expect miracles though, as they were on life support the week before Season 1 started.

Not gunna lie…i have no clue as to how you fix game modes like this. Problem with set servers in these instances is they lose populations and then you get imbalances. Ok fix it by having factions or dynamic maps, where it places players based on where players are needed, ok well then that is a nightmare for friends to play together. The same thing has happened in Planetside 2 (a game I played tons of when it first launched), the servers are stacked per faction and you get ridiculous imbalances. I just don’t see how the game mode could ever be fixed.

I think their idea behind it was to make a sort of “unofficial” spot for gvg, that isn’t in the current BL’s or EB. The same things above can be said about the windmill, it’s open to trolls, there aren’t any invulnerable spots, pugs can wander in to the battlefield, etc.

Do i think they could do better if they were going for an official structured gvg, sure of course they could, but this, i think is def better than nothing or what we had before.

I’m going to say YES it was a disappointment. Mainly due to the fact that it caused so much bandwagoning that it killed a ton of server communities. I would have rather everyone who does the meta gets the reward chest, then 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, get a slightly better reward IN ADDITION TO the meta chest. I don’t like the idea that the meta achievement chest scales based on the servers performance. “The reason my server did so poorly in our league is because all our major guilds kittened out and went to the easy servers”

I don’t play fractals, but i dumped my 500+ votes for Ellen, cause i wanted the cheaper waypoint costs instead of the discounted rng black lion keys. but hey guess what…that’s politics, and as a player I can vote for whoever i want. u mad bros?

It’s always the same. Larger server = unskilled blobbers. Smaller servers = skilled fighters worn down by the masses. Its like sport announcers talking about white people in sports. The small servers are “scrappy” and “hard-workers” who use their skill to overcome the advantages of the bigger server. Blah blah blaaaaaaaah. Its doublespeak to make people feel better about themselves/the server.

I will say that while the lack of real skill by FA being hidden behind massive blobs makes this matchup tedious at best, I will commend you CD guys. Your numbers may be low but you fight like rabid lions. Kudos to you and not giving up. I still have fun steamrolling those FA blobs when we’re outnumbered, but it only goes so far when they keep regurgitating them out faster than we can kill them. Eventually the wall of bodies gets so high we can’t walk over them anymore and they push us out lol. Keep up the fight CD and don’t be discouraged by FA. I look forward to more fights with you guys in the future.

I would love the option to walk up to anyone out in the pve world and ask them to a friendly duel. no actual killing or broken armor but straight up pve/wvw gear my build vs your build type stuff. Have the ability to turn off the duel option so you won’t get spammed with requests all the time. I think it would also help the pve crowd dip their toes in pvp gameplay which would possibly bring more players into wvw and spvp. could be really cool.

So im rocking sword pistol and GS….. looking for sigils,,, i was doing bloodlust acc and percep but wondering what others use.

I use the same weapon combo, i use sigil of battle (3 stacks of might for 20 seconds on weapon swap in combat) in both main hands, and then sigil of accuracy in offhand pistol. In my build i’m constantly swapping weapons so in most fights I can keep a consistent 9-12 stacks of might up. My build also takes advantage of clones inflict bleed on crit so the extra crit chance helps.

I didn’t have an issue with the random matchups when they were within reason. However the way servers gained points was completely broken. I’ll go back to my tried and true example…CD got put against FA three weeks in a row back in August, we got completely destroyed (no surprise their) and after those three weeks we rose all the way to T2 for a week…how is this even remotely acceptable. In order for us to lose points and stay in our deserved tier we would have had to literally not play at all those weeks. That is just broken, straight up.

I sometimes wonder what it would be like to have so many people, but then a realize I probably would not like it. There is something to be said for being able to go to any map (even eternal) whenever you feel like it. Sure it usually means you have to fight a horde of zombies to get back your corner, but that has its own charm to it.

i’ll agree with this. also it’s a ton of fun roaming with a buddy or two and adding in that extra challenge of dodging zergs XD

gathering iron and softwood was the easiest and most relaxing thing i’ve done in this game. Would do this whenever i had a chance, lunch break, after work, late night when i couldn’t sleep. Just made a list of the maps, made a route, and just ran through there. Used my thief to stealth past mobs and such made it extremely fast. Usually one map would get me close to what I needed. Would do multiple maps to get a stock pile up.

There will not be another season this calendar year. The matchmaking post-season will be back to the system before, with some possible tweaks, but it will be essentially the same system.

can we get some serious matchmaking tweaks? the previous system didn’t make much sense. perfect example: Crystal Desert got blasted for 4 weeks straight, 3rd place each week by ridiculous amounts of points, yet our rating went up and we rose to T2….how is this even possible??

i’ve noticed this, completely random, some times i’ll run down some stairs and take a tiny hit of damage other times i’ll run down it and it’ll nuke me down to like 50 health left lol. Nerf the stairs, too OP

zerg dodgin mini game, me and guildies play it all the time, start a fight with someone and see who can get the kill first or get their opponent to the lowest health before the zerg rolls up…of course you have to get away to get full points. Pretty fun.

What I’m interesting in hearing is:

If you’re a T1 server is it fun facing rank 4, 5, 6 or would you rather have T1 fights?

If you’re T2 is it fun fighting T1 or would you rather fight the top 3 of silver?

If you’re T3 is it fun fighting the other silver or would you rather fight against T2?

If you’re T4 or T5 is it fun fighting T3 or would you rather have T4/5 be its own league?

I’m on CD, when we face huge servers the week is terrible. Don’t get me wrong, we love fights and all that, but when it’s a constant 5:1 ratio and everything you see is a mega blob it’s just ridiculous. I don’t blame the larger server either, they’re just looking to kill stuff so they see red and they swarm. The best fights we’ve ever had are against servers with the closer pops. Zerg fights are amazing, roaming parties are amazing, all around the match up is amazing. I’d much rather have the leagues be smaller but have the closer matched servers against each other (like the you originally outlined)

This was a good example of how wvw should be, up until about the last day this matchup was insane and too close to call. Anyone who took part in this matchup can vouch, it was amazing.

Since most of the updates so far brought a lot of QQ, I feel like this one had some positive sides as well (homgz!). While we should give credit to Anet when they do something right, there were still issues.

PROS
- Foreshadowing changes in Kessex Hills weeks before. nice way to implement the living world.
- We got (a little) more info on Marjory and Kasmeer which are ok characters. Rox and Braham are also back, which is what LS needs – development of some existing characters, not constantly introducing new ones.
- Open world content that rewards players with instances – cool concept.
- Fighting hallucinations of characters from the Personal Story was the best thing brought to us by the living story thus far. It’s exactly what LS needs – a personal note for the players, seeing that past matters, build up from previous stories.
- Killing Trahearne was personally the best moment of this update. Seems like Anet has read our criticism of Trahearne and decided to humor us. They should do that more often!
- Cutscene – it’s more than we got in most of the updates, but it should belong to the Cons maybe…

CONS
- (Won’t discuss combat mechanics in the tower here, it’s our fault for running instead of clearing the path. Purely player mentality.)
- Waypoint costs – 5s to 3rd level, SRSLY?! With all the new skins in the gem store and Ascended armor on the horizon, players need something like Queen’s Jubilee to make some cash, not a gold sink like this.
- Boss fights – hmm, where is the challenge? Like in HotW and say revamped Maw, increased health pools =/= more difficult fight, just more tedious.
- No real plot advancement – so what really happened? We’re stopping yet another cartoonish, unrealistic alliance-of-the-week, but Scarlet has managed to escape once again. And we didn’t learn much in the process.
- Cutscene – while nicely done, it didn’t contribute to the story in any way apart from being a good LS summary. Did we find out more about Scarlet or her motives? No. Did we learn more about the Krait? Not really. We knew that she was behind all the silly alliances. We knew that Faren’s panties were fabulous.
- A con to any LS: where are the dragons?

wanna add to the con list, running up the tower with a good sized group of folks, everyone dips into an instance, once you come out 1. you might be on empty overflows, separated from party members, etc. or 2. the zerg has moved on and everything has reset and your stranded. Sure you could try yolo running to the next check point, but good luck if there is an event blocking the exit. You’re better off way pointing to the bottom and paying the 3s for the second level or the 5s for the 3rd level

Kitten skippy, bro! I’ve not gotten a precursor, but I have gotten exotics worth as much as 10g each on the TP from killing enemy players. (Two in the last 3 days as a matter of fact.) So, the general rule for me is – if it’s red, it’s dead. If I think I can take you, I engage regardless of where it is on the map.

More like stupid. They could be out there defending their borderlands from people attacking instead of wasting their time camping a JP. They’re just a waste of space if they’re just camping the JP, when people who will actually be protecting the server could be on the map.

pretty sure i read somewhere the EB jp is a separate instance so it doesn’t count towards EB’s player count…I could be wrong though
