I have played on T2-T5/6. So far there is a difference between T2 and below. In our usual T3 matchups you get solo/small party roamers. And if you run into a larger group you can usually lure off one or two to have a 1v1 or whatever. Most the zergs are concerned with ppt so they “usually” run by. However in T2, you get more of these “roaming parties” which in reality is like 8-10 of the same guild and they just nuke solos. Sure the density of players between T2 and tiers below is different, but it’s still (for me personally a solo roamer) a more enjoyable experience on T3/T4.

Another thing to add, in a normal T3/4 matchup I can solo roam in EBG with no problem. In T2 I was never able to do that…its was just zergs or like I said before “roaming parties”. I personally like the landscape and small scale of EBG so when in T2 I was forced to roam BL’s and that was crappy.

I use to play a mesmer power build (6/6/2/0/0) which was fun and hit like a truck. But if I messed up or got heavily focused I was dead. I’ve since switched to a PU build (NOT the typical scepter+torch/staff) and like it alot better. I know a lot of people despise condi and think PU is cheese. But honestly have you seen how many thieves are roaming around in wvw these days? Also this build for some reason really kittenes off warriors which makes them attack more…which in turn makes them die faster lol. I personally have never played shatter, but from what I gather it seems to be pretty hard to play properly. Not sure if it’s viable or not. I can def say that PU is viable as a roaming spec.

also if interested here is the build i’m running. I know sword 3 is kitten now, but if you drop it after magic bullet it’s pretty easy to land.

stale maps and population wins are the two problems. If they changed up the maps (we know it’s possible, they pumped out EoTM) and revamped how wvw works in terms of points then it would maybe have some hope. Right it’s just stale matchups week in and week out, same maps, same bases, same siege placement, zerg servers blowing out lower pop servers, etc. etc. They really should focus more on WvW because considering the current state of PvE, WvW is the end game.

I would change it so the illusion “leaps” like guard greatsword leap or warrior leap so it’s faster and/or works on wonky terrain. OR change the illusion to more of a ghosty animation of a clone running towards the target, if the animation gets to the target it spawns the clone then, swap as usual. That way they get rid of the whole pathing issue all together.

It would be so awful on consoles (if that’s what you mean by “next gen”). The current state of “gaming” is to release games way before they’re finished and poorly developed (constant bugs, etc). On pc they have the benefit of resolving serious bugs and releasing hot fixes in a couple hours. On a console they have to send the update in for approval which takes a couple weeks (as well as costs the publishers some money). Could you imagine some of the game breaking bugs that we’ve had lasting two weeks (yeah i know there are tons of bugs that have been around since launch). Every two week Living Story content would pretty much be impossible and not practical from a business stand point. It just wouldn’t work overall, leave GW2 on PC and us the resources to fix bugs/develop new content.

Burn out, it happened after season 1 and it’s happened after season 2. But also as said above, depends on the time zone. I play during NA prime and never have problems finding fights…now are they blob fights or roaming fights…that depends on the server lol.

imo the food is not the only broken part on conditions .

the condition classes have access in their spam weapon attack skill ( the 1 key ) in both 2 damage attacks ( power + condition) . they can do straight damage + condition damage to their opponent , the same time where the power builds can do only straight attack.

All classes can technically do condition builds and also except for the guardian all classes have some sort of conditions on their auto attacks as well…

This is just false. My roaming playstyle is a very “bait and attack” sort of playstyle. I literally don’t open on any opponents (most of the time). I will be running along, see a player, and then change my path of travel and see if they will chase. I’ll then lure them away from traffic a tad and even take a few hits from them. Make them think i’m scared or just a zergling, then i’ll turn and fight. I have tons of fights that i’ve won where they attacked first, hell i’ve had tons i’ve won when i started attacking I had 75% health. So this “the first to attack always wins” garbage is just not true.

We really haven’t gotten stronger, we’re just back to our pre-tourney levels (maybe even slightly below.) Tons of people, including me, got bored out of our minds with the tourney and effectively stopped playing WvW.

There will once again be 4 T2 servers and FA and someone else will take turns annihilating IoJ and SBI.

By returning to FAs former strength they have gotten stronger as most other non-T1 servers have gotten weaker due to attrition.

As for the current state of servers… IMO looks like:

Tier 1 : TC, BG, JQ
Tier 1.5 : SoS
Tier 2 : Mag/FA

Tier 3 is looking like YB and DB with SBI/IoJ on the bubble as a Tier 3.5.

Then the rest.

Off season YB is a T3.5 – 4. When we faced IoJ after season, they had more folks than us but not by much, I would say T3 is DB/SBI and IoJ/YB on the bubble for T3.5 or T4.

Yes, a great deal as I have experimented with that build myself. Similar fight to the one in the video, however you need to eliminate the duellists ASAP. The bleeds they stack if the mesmer is able to summon more than 1 is overwhelming.

Or just run p/d condition and cheese all over the mesmer until they’re dead. A good old fashion cheese vs cheese (bring crackers) :P

Because a good PU Mesmer isn’t always in stealth and doesn’t overrely on it. A lot of Mesmer builds actually have a hard time fighting on point due to AoEs and other stuff so it’s not uncommon for a Mesmer to jump on and off the point when trying to kill an enemy; effectively the same result as stealthing from time to time.
People dismiss PU builds on the surface because of this, but the fact is that it really comes down to the player behind the build and how well they can perform.

I thought of a possible solution to this problem that wouldnt kitten off either side. Right now we have 2 groups of people in this game. The condition spammers who think conditions are fine as is and dont want their easy mode taken away, and those of us who are sick of it and want a change.

I agree with you as well…however with all the hype from the cut scene i feel like a large amount of casual players would go crazy if we didn’t get any sort of dragon fight in S2.

As other’s have said, for WvW, especially as a mesmer traveler’s is my go to rune set. I’ve messed around with some other builds that use different runes and yes they may be a tad stronger, I just couldn’t catch or get away from anything. I use them on my power build and on my condi/hybrid build (yes i use them on my hybrid build, 90% condi duration cheese please )

My advice while playing WvW is don’t worry about the PPT game too much. The game mode is literally all about coverage. The server with the most players wins. I would suggest partying up with a couple guildies and just roaming. Maybe even set a camp or sentry trap. That’s what we do, we just kitten around and look for players to fight. Or we’ll find out where a zerg fight is and see if we can lure a few off the back to chase us. Some of my best nights in wvw were the nights were we literally didn’t look at the ppt or score the entire night and just roamed around fighting folks (sorry server, meanwhile we lost like all our towers and stuff lol)

Simple answer:
Play a warrior with melandru runes and the -40% condition duration food. Tada, condi’s are no longer a problem.

It would also help if you learn to play whatever class you are playing because every class has condition clearing skills.

I don’t play condi on any of my characters, but I can tell you that they do not need nurfed. My raw power necro has over 3000 power with stacks and does Life Blasts to most people for 5-13k.. THAT is broken lol.

I’ll +1 this suggestion as well. I like megaservers but I miss chatting with my actual server mates. i always end up talking to someone and they’re like “oh i’m not on your server…” then it just gets really awkward

I main a mesmer, thief, warrior, and guardian in wvw (i like to mix it up). My buddy runs Thief, mesmer, warrior, and necro in wvw. Out of all those classes whenever i’m running Mesmer (especially PU build) he always either runs mesmer or thief (power or condi). Not just for they synergies (we just casually play for the lols so all this synergy mumbo jumbo isn’t our style) but because they are the only classes that can stay alive if kitten hits the fan and we need to bail and lure singles off of zergs. His necro is slow and has no stun breaks and his warrior gives away our positions. We can easily stealth and re-evaluate the situation and then bait players accordingly.

Wanna see the funniest thing ever? Drop a stealth trap. Especially if you’re a stealth class, mesmer or thief, they freak out lol.

My vote is for having the lord in a downed state and having the banner work just like it does with players. That gives the defenders a window of opportunity to banner the lord when he’s in downed state, but if they are too late and he wipes they will have to do a hard res like usual. The way banner mechanics works in team vs team fights is great. It adds a level of pressure to get that banner dropped before your allies get stomped or cleaved down.

yeah that would be a solid option. It makes no sense to have them be able to change stats but can’t change sigils.

Ok so i’m going to apologize for making this thread, as i’m sure it’s been discussed but i’ve tried the search on here and it just flat out doesn’t work.

So I love the way legendaries work, how they let me change stats and all that. But is there a way to change sigils without over writing and destroying the current sigils?? Some of these sigils are expensive and it would suck to have to buy more.

Hello Agent, as a recommendation I wouldn’t chose HoD. I am on DR and we just had 2 roaming groups move to our server from HoD because of the lack of roaming. Nothing against HoD or upper tiers but you see a lot more roaming fun T5-T7. If you want all the info you can message me here or in game.

Would like to know which roaming groups moved so we can better plan for the future, if you could! I’ve known NA was going away for a while (didn’t exactly treat us nicely while they were here) but who else joined from HoD? I wouldn’t be so quick to discount us being on a server that we haven’t faced in half a year (DR) but to a point I do agree that we have some nasty blobs.

FA has [WS], and that’s about it. Otherwise pretty blobby. Big props to Kruegs’ guys for small-manning it and risking getting zerged, just as we do.

SBI’s best roamers (as Kruegs mentioned before) are from BAEST and Abys. I have gotten to know quite a few of them through our fights together- they are good fighters, and even better people.

YB roaming- just euuuuugh. For the most part either they blob, hide behind their siege, or run. I have met a few good players from YB though!

CD’s best roaming group is [TKVA], they’re very talented, though extremely poor sports (e.g. whispering trashtalk, and they have a notorious forum troll and HoD hater who, appropriately, has appeared in this thread!)

NSP has the real elite roamers imo- tM/Holy and many more. They’re a very good choice if you’re looking to roam.

So based on these definitive descriptions of each server, does the op want to roam with the best and curb stomp everyone? or fight against the best and get better at the game?

didn’t want to start a forum argument really, yeah we’re known for our siege and all that, but at the same time, that irritates the other servers so when i’m out roaming, the enemies literally throw themselves at me cause they want to kill yak’s so bad lol. Honestly some of the best roaming i’ve had is on YB. Always skilled folks to fight/lure off of blobs. OP, good luck in deciding where to go. Hope whichever server you guys (and maybe gals) pick you enjoy and have fun.

Alliance battles would just end up like edge. The thing for me with server vs server is you get that comradery, fighting along side your server mates. If you play enough you start to recognize familiar faces, get to know the commanders, etc. If it went to alliance battles you would maybe have your guildies and a few friends from the server on the same maps, but it would literally just turn into a boring anonymous zerg karma train like EotM is.

Just gunna add to the post, cause I currently run in the same kind of group, small 3-4 man roaming group. We transferred from CD (due to some server politics issues that I won’t discuss on here, i’ll be happy to explain more in pm or in game) to Yak’s Bend after season 1. YB is made up of a lot of militia guilds (not huge blob guilds) so the roaming here is actually pretty dang solid. We don’t really play the ppt game, we just look for fights. We have been extremely happy on YB.

You have already killed tpvp, are you now continuing with also kill the living world?

At first I kinda agreed with this, July 1st is a long ways off for everyone to wait…especially after the festival of the four winds debacle (re-used, crappy rewards, etc.). But at the same time, after going ham on Season 1 last year and getting a little break and then going ham on wvw season, this one month of down time might be ok. It gives me time to just relax and play what I feel like playing, level another toon, etc. And if I get bored of it, ill just go mess around with another game, that’s whats great about this one, no sub fee means i can come and go as i please. I guess we’ll see how the player base takes the downtime as well.

Team Raven [TR] is a small PvX guild on Yak’s Bend. We’re a close knit group of gamers that enjoy each others company till all hours of the night. We are looking to expand our GW2 presence. We don’t only play GW2 though, we enjoy playing all sorts of games (GW2, Diablo 3, Minecraft, EQ2, EQN, BF3&4, Planetside 2). If it’s a fun game to play, we’ll play it. My guild transferred to Yak’s Bend a few weeks after season 1 (no we didn’t transfer for the season) due to a toxic environment on CD. We wanted more players, but not too many as we’re a small guild that likes to wvw roam and wanted to avoid T1 and T2 blobs. We checked out a bunch of servers but something just felt right on Yak’s Bend. Once we got here we were completely blown away. The community is a night and day difference. Everyone is so friendly. There wvw community is also great, everyone works together. I would highly suggest Yak’s Bend to anyone looking for a home.

Just going to add to this thread…I can confirm that Giver’s weapons are bugged. I’m currently running p/d & p/d, both sets are giver’s, both pistols have the sigils of battle, and the daggers have sigils of doom. when I swap weapon sets the sigil of doom queue’s up for my next attack. However sigil of battle does not proc to give me might stacks. However…if for testing I run p/p & d/d, so that means the two pistols both with sigils of battle and the two daggers with sigils of doom, the sigils of battle correctly proc when i swap to them. So as said above Giver’s weapons are causing some sigil conflicts or something.

A word from Anet that a fix is on the way would be great…

no solution, pretty annoying having to re-equip wvw weapons every time i leave spvp.

Soooo am I missing something here, when we use to come into pvp it would keep our current pvp build’s weapons with sigils and everything. Now when i come into pvp it has my pve/wvw weapons equipped and i have to manually swap out the weapons and it’s just all over the place. I get that they want to make all the parts of the game one and all that yada yada but jesus this is a pain in the kitten . Why not just have all the skins in our wardrobe and allow us to skin our pvp build like we want but have it automatically equip our weapons when we enter the mists.

i needed the tokens, but hate AC with a passion, had other stuff to do around the house so i threw up a looking to buy lfg, got in a party, they 4 manned it and let me know when they were at the final boss, hop in collect tokens, pay out. the amount i spent on each party to get my 500 tokens was made back in a day doing my usual champ train/world boss/wvw rotations.
