They use glicko2, which is a modern “improvement” on ELO that is used in leaderboards for a lot of different games.

i think team should give up major patches and work on expansion if its in plan.

I know there is concern that player base is very low, but i dont think elo rating is that much dependant on number of players.
average rating of one team vs average rating of another team and players get same amout of points or minus same amount.

Currently dailt pvp achivemts can be done in 10 mintues. Thought behind that was to encourage players to play pvp. I highly disagree with current daily achivment solution.
First of all it makes pvp noobs (pve fans , achivment farmers) play solo que and with current matchmaking system good players are forced to play with noobs.
Secondly, current cap point achivemt makes many achivemt points hunter join solo que only to cap points. Sometimes it leads to silly situation when THREE players are capping same close point at the begining of the match.
Thirdly, doing daily pvp quest player will learn almost nothing. Quest can be done in 10 min and most players go back to pve. They end up learing nothing about pvp meta and they come next day with same skill which is null.
Lastly, there is still hope! Thre is solution! One of many ways to fix situation is to make daily achivment quest doable at minimum one hour or close to that. Just like it is in some pve quest scenario.
I am very surprised nobody addressed this problem before. I know everybody was focused on pvp rewards and now on matchmaking system, but this is huge as well.
Only reward player needs in pvp is place in ladder leaugue, f.ex. in grand master leugue

- skyhammer change/ removal – only hammer tower place to kill by cc
- Thief “hard to catch” trait- too random teleport. Developers changed engieneer skill which had 50% to give stealth or stability. Hard to catch trait is too random too. It should teleport AWAY from target. What is more as grandmaster trait it should remove cc effect when teleported (stun fear etc.) Currently it does NOT remove fear so this trait can backfire making yo char moving toward foe when feared.
- Thief “assassin’s reward” trait - currently it provides less value than adept trait “mug” . Assassin reward provides 1600- 2000 hitpoints heal in one fight, while mug always provides 3500 hitpoint value (2000 heal + 1000 dmg)

I must point out that there is no room for thief in pro team becouse they die to two hits. They had insane mobility but no ability to sustain dmg. Currently they have avarage mobility (sword return nerf) and no sustain (no immunity to dmg over time).

Sadly mmr works in the way that one player won 3 games in solo q and is instantly qued with “top lucky” players while good 60%win players fight in mid with noobs with 35% winratio.
Sometimes i get new players in team, sometimes tops like prince vineghey. WHy is it that way?

Last, but no least: Players are divided into teams beforfe match start based on thier rank. This is so bad. Effort to match players on their mmr is in vein becouse of that.

ofc you can, with some experience, prevent this, but in my personal opinion, a burst like that should never exist in a mmorpg.
thief can kill in less than two seconds backstab, clock, steal, hearseeker. However this combo can be perfomered perfectly only once or twice in pvp match becouse not ppl rarly play glasscanons.

giving everybody 50% is bad becouse best players will get totall noobs so they will always loose. Best players should get close skill oponnents and teamates, not noobs. Currently 60 lvl can play with 5 lvl in team, which is radiculus.

matchmaking system is made so u ll get team with lower ranks so u ll probably loose. System is designed so everybody gets around 50% win ratio.
Hopefully new matchmaking system will be made along with ladder system. I think hidden MMR should be implemented and teams should be created based on player’s hidden mmr, not rank becouse rank could have been gain on skyhammer farm or somewhere else i will not mention
Thief is in deep sheet now, but hopefull new year will bring some senses to balance team. New healing skills are clear failure. No stability for thief becouse they are designed dps assasins. Sadly they are not.
Good change would be skill which gives sth like evade, distortion or inv. Developers think stleath is equivalent of 5 seconds block or 5 seconds invulnerability, which is very silly. Thief as ninja should be able to evade for 3 seconds, not just silly roll back for 0.5 second becouse thief is dead after 0.5 while 3 second evade would help a ton

thief is worst in skyhammer. rollback kills u, scrorpion is bullsheet compered to cc effect. bow evade kills u, sword evade kills u

One of the brazil teams used trebuchet exploit in their match. One concerned veiwer cought that and showed screen. Moderator removed topic. It was probably sirius tournament for gems so i dont think it should be allowed.
Topic was removed becouse it was acusing guild of cheating. WTF? Acusing isnt bad! Who has the power to acuse if not players in gaming world? Do we need barister to fight for fasil play? i dont think so.
I tihnk eye witness and screen proof is absolutly enough to convict suspect.

Depends on luck. only 5% of my games are 4v5.
I thought a lot about matchmaking system and i must say current one is good! If system matched only best players, it would take ages to create a match. Like it is on League of Legends, where u have to wait 20 – 60 minutes in que. System in gw2 is similar to sc2 in speed of matchmaking. I’am happy with solo que system.
However team que is totally different thing. Team que should be much more like League of legends que (20-60 min) becouse good teams get free wins when they face random people. Current team arena allowed alone players to que. I dont think it alone players sohuld be allowed to play team arena. At least there should be a pair communicating.
Leaderboard sohuld not have players who played less than 30 games! Current leaderboard is very much misleading showing players who played ten games and won nine of them are very high ranked while pros like me or other ppl who is great is not that hi ranked.
In starcraft two ladfder system in order tyo get to grandmaster league u must first play tons of games to reach high mmr, then u are allowed to enter grandmasters.
I hope ArenaNet is thinking hard about ladder system becouse cuttent system is a joke.

Currently venom builds are weak, becouse they are simple burst dependant on enemy not using stunbreak. When i face venom thief i win 2/3 becouse they burn all thier utility and miss. (i play s/d thief)
I think venoms will be adjusted so they are not that much dependant on rng. We can compere venoms to warriors bulls charge. There is a reason why bulls chsrge is not played anymore. Same thing is with venoms
I think venoms are not viable becouse they are too dependant on luck and rng. Dont get me wrong. Venom build are strong, but only in one out of three situations. Thief iwth venoms will miss all his venoms in two out of three duels.
Creator of this topic has no idea what is he talking about. Thief was nerfed to the ground. There was tradeoff for thief class: mobility , but NO STABILITY. Since every thief is a canon it is now: get one stun – die. Now that tradeoff was destroyed. There is no mobility
Some ppl might say that there is hard to catch trait. I say it is nothin more than very weak and too random utility skill to escape stun like every 30sec.
Even though we see some thiefes running dagger/pistol decap style, i dont think it is viable coue of no survivability. All enemy team has to do is send one guy to apply pressure in smart way and thief will be waste of slot in team.
Still there is sword/dagger thief lyssa i ve been plaing for a long time. Still strong, many evades, big dps, but u get stunned you are dead. I dont think it should be that way. In comparison to warriors there is no stability or immunity. There is only silly stealth in refuge that every thief walks into is going to die.
People dont realize how huge recent patch was. It left thieves with nothing but stealth. Almost every other class has some sort of timed immunity at the disposal, but not thief. Not anymore becouse there is no mobility from sword return when locked.

I was duelling before match started, i died. I was dead and waiting for my rez 15 sek. Real game started but i was still dead. I had to start with like 5 seconds behind my team.

In order to avoid playin skyhammer in soloQ u have to stand afk for 4 min. Just go to your brawser, eatch some porn or hentai then enjoy game
