engineers are crap. ive never been beaten by an engi both on my spirit and zerker ranger in tpvp. i dont even need to try. the only professions that can beat me 1v1 are condi warriors and minion necros when i’m playing as a spirit ranger.

btw, that was the first video i made and my first attempt. i wasnt even playing my best on that video and i was playing in a dark room.

My favorite part is when you LB 5 nothing and also when you let your pet die and also the dodges where nothing gets evaded, and the end when the engineer admits he’s ‘very bad’.

dude, he went into stealth and i knew he’s gonna use knockbacks on me once he got near enough so i was forced to use aoe. he got hit by barrage because he was still crippled when he went out of stealth. that attack was not in vain. he wasnt the best i fought with. i admit. but still i didnt have any problem fighting engi’s 1v1.

what anet should focus on nerfing are warriors and necromancers. they are the true abominations in gw2.

I started reading this topic and I’d like to express my opinion about it.

I’m the inventor of the Engi decapper (the role and all builds)
I have played for 5 months only Engi decapper and I have never seen so many engies decapper like now in Team/Solo Que.

1)I can only say that I never respected the META and now I’m happy to be the inventor of a build that keeps engies in META.
Do you like a game where only Warriors Guardians and Thieves still playing? (always talking about PvP).
I know that devs have in project to rework many classes for making them more competitive and we all hope this project will be implemented as soon as possible but I personally don’t want to adapt myself to the META. I want to have fun with the class I enjoy more.
2) Are you asking about a nerf of Decapper Engies or what?
So maybe explain how u would like to nerf it cuz I don’t have any idea.
I have passed many many time doing tests in Custom Arenas for making a build but it’s all together that makes an Engi Decapper strong.
So maybe nerf AR? In my point of view I hardly ever use AR (be less than 25% life) on my engi I think if it will be nerfed I won’t have any problems.
So maybe nerf some traits? Which ones?
In my opinion u cannot simply complain about a problem beacuse u cannot counter it. Find a way to counter it. There are several ways to counter an engy decapper guys.
The problem is : if u want to nerf Engi Decapper devs should rework all the class.
3)In my opinion you should try to play it, is not easy. U cannot say braindead and usefull class without make a test of it. I have passed 5 months of game training and improve with this spec and now it can be usefull. I have never said warrior hambow braindead and usefull class beacuse for use it well u need lot of time of train.

The problem is: there is a difference to USE a class and USE a class WELL.
Any class on this game can be usefull if u can use it well. If u believe that every Engi Decapper can be usefull try it now but I want to see you on top of ladder. (I’m 15 atm) (I can pass you the build I have no problems )
And remember that WE are playing one of the greatest PvP ever seen in MMORPGs and it’s useless continuing nerf classes.

EU has been playing this for months. For that matter I had a build nearly identical build in 2012. You aren’t the inventor no one is sure who that is. Just like all builds in this game someone else probably played it first.

2nd you obviously haven’t played decap engi much or your not top ~1000. AR comes in the play in about 50 percent of all fights. Necro engi and ranger (I can stay above 25 percent against most rangers) (mesmer is rare ele non-existent, guardians don’t count as anything in the fight)

The nerf to AR prevents the hard counter. The issue with decap engi is it 100% condition builds. No one should be able to fight 1v4 for 8-12 minutes (its happened).
Once thats gone it has counter play and can be killed 1v1 against a power build (thief) and condi (any condi build).

Obviously a troll as pvp in gw2 has been degrading for ages. Yes it has potential for 2020.

Why would you re-do an entire class just for 1 OP build? I am starting to dis-believe everything you posted.

not true. a decap engi is no match vs a power ranger. if the ranger timed his skills correctly, he could kill the bunker engi in seconds. it’s the same as fighting a bunker guard but the chances of winning the fight is much higher vs a bunker engineer.

just switch to shortbow and use qz. GS is such a bad weapon on a ranger, IMO.

I feel like the only bunker the community will accept at this point is a bunker guard. Never mind that they can also decap and have better condi removal and stability, and require 2+ to kill. The amount of rage at bunker engis who use knock backs is extreme at this point, and I expect after the patch, automated response will get the same treatment that kit refinement got, flamethrower and overcharged shot will have cast time and clear animation, and it will just be a better choice to bunker as a guard if that’s the role you want. Would these changes be fair? Maybe, it will put some ability to counter it for non double stability warriors and thieves. But I don’t think its as bad as these 7 pages have made it sound, especially with its obvious weaknesses.

30 sec of stealth? lol. what are you talking about? a mesmer can only have 6 sec of stealth once they traited for prismatic undertanding and thats from 5 sec to 6 sec. they can only get that by using Mass Invisibility which is an elite skill and has a 90 sec cd. a thief can stealth for 14 sec using shadow refuge that has a 60 sec cd.

You only can guess where they are or when they gonna strike, blowing your aoe damage cooldown in guessing positions. They haven’t CDs.

If you know how to move, they’ll be guessing when you’re turning. And don’t just blow AoE, use them to control their movement (nobody likes running around in circles inside AoE’s).

i was just happy i was able to download a screen recorder and posted the 1st video i made. i didnt expect to get immensely insulted. i’m not a techy savvy person and this is the only game i play on my laptop. i play other video games but on my ps3 and vita. i dont need to keybind using a playstation controller so i wouldnt have that much knowledge about keybinding a laptop.

I don’t know much about those consoles but I do have an XBox controller, it might work with guildwars, if that gives you familiar controls it might be worth it. Otherwise, a gamin mouse can really be worth it’s price, they’re just pleasant more to work with then a regular mouse – and a thousand times better then those horrible pads on laptops.

I’m not defending D/P. Actually I’m against D/P and would love to see black powder nerfed to the ground. Doesn’t change a fact that you are a keyboard turning clicker (thats the lowest possible skill level for mmorpg players in general) and you have no clue what you’re talking about.

What i don’t get, every other MMO has a PENALTY for being in stealth one that normally reduces movement speed, why is it in this game being in Stealth and taking a trait INCREASES your movement speed….

Not only movement speed, health and initiative regeneration, condition removal, is a free-reset for you. And you can spam it, and you are invisible, not in stealth, you are invisible.

In stealth you shouldn’t can heal, be healed or gain more initiative.

Cant forget Mesmers getting boons every second in stealth too.

i havent experienced any discrimination in wvw as a ranger. my guild commander always invites me to his party and im a zerker ranger to boot with double bows. he calls me the tiger ranger because of my stomper. an ele can be easily killed by a ranger. you dont even need to swap your weapon to deplete a staff ele’s hp.

if im running with a zerg, i know my role to kill squishies (thieves and eles). most of the times they are all fighting in a zerg and they wont even know you’re the one hitting them. i still think that the spirits need a huge hp buff to make them effective. it is undeniably the best build spvp/tpvp ranger build but useless in wvw.

Zerker ranger has it’s place in WvW. That place is in the back of a group, focusing squishy targets, laying down AoE cripple, and providing water fields for group healing. If you’re not in a group, you’re in a tower. If you’re in a 1v1 with a thief, a class designed to kill things like you, you’re out of position and deserve to be killed.

Unfortunately for you, this simply does not help because I do not HAVE to engage you in WvW. I move faster than you because I build for mobility and you use 2 bows. There’s nothing stopping me from just walking off and leaving you be. Or from using my mobility to bait out your cooldowns, then killing you when you’re defenseless. Most importantly, however, this is COMPLETELY IRRELEVANT to a discussion of stealth in WvW.

Before you just dismiss me as talking nonsense again, let’s talk experience here. I have 1800 hours experience on thief, primarily playing WvW. You play zerker ranger in PvP, with little experience of WvW. If you disagree with me, fine, but if you want to convince me that I’m wrong then try bringing an actual argument next time.

stop talking trash. seriously. i play both spirit ranger and zerker ranger in tpvp. do you even know that a zerker ranger is also underpowered in tpvp? it takes guts and skills to play that build effectively. you have no knowledge about tpvp at all. meta-builds in tpvp are hambow/condi warriors, spirit ranger, bunker guardian, condi/minion master necro and bunker engi. why don’t you try to play your class in tpvp and see how fast you’d get pawned there. the reason you play thief only in “wvw” is because you know it’s overpowered there. people in tpvp don’t even care about thieves. thieves are almost useless in tpvp. people who succeed as thieves in tpvp are really good and know how to play their class really well while people who play thief in wvw are braindead players who continue to abuse stealth and call themselves skillful. pfff…

Soloing a camp is no measure of skill in WvW, any class can do it with little effort if built correctly. As for playing what everyone else plays, keep reading.

Having watched your video, It’s actually laughable being called no skill from someone who plays like that. Bad/glassy thieves might die, but a well played thief will take you apart.

The reason that people say rangers are bad is because 90% of them run your build, and in WvW that basically makes them cannon fodder. They come fresh from PvE and PvP, expecting things to just stay at distance whilst you kill them. Unfortunately it’s you that’s playing what everyone else does, making yourself the proverbial scrub.

I suggest that you provide persistent, polite, proscriptive and pressing feedback to anet to get thieves fixed. As a long time thief, I’d like to see perma stealth eliminated and on demand stealth while in combat eliminated to make this class more challenging.

The thing is, nothing will happen until enough players start leaving the game because of it. It’s a lot of work for no return. If they won’t make any money off of redesigning the profession so why should they put in the work. I fear that competitive play in GW2 will forever be plague by this awful mechanic.

i know thieves dont spam stealth like that in tpvp but they are still in a good place. anet just need to tweak it a little. maybe reduce the length of stealth that they can do through black powder + hs combo but if you’re gonna ask me, anet should just delete that finisher. i know some thieves who dont use p/d but they are pretty decent.

Yeah, no offense, but you’re playing a Zerker Ranger in WvW, and it sounds like you’re running solo. I get you just got introduced to wvw, but I’m telling you right now, GLHF. There are 4 top classes for roaming in WvW right now. 1. Thieves, 2. Mesmers, 3. Warriors, 4. Engineers. Eles and Guardians are in there as well, but you won’t see them as often as you see these classes. Thieves and Mesmers are especially abundant and annoying. Thy can use stealth to drop targets, set up insane damage, negate damage, confuse, and annoy you. Engineers almost always run super condi bombs. Area denial with conditions that hit hard, pretty annoying to deal with. Warriors…. yeah that condi tank build needs to go, it’s literally everywhere. With GS+Bulls Rush, it’s like “Why chase, you’ll never catch them”.

Back to the stealth “issue”, I don’t see it as a problem anymore. D/P thieves are drastically easy to kill once you know how they play. Me? I use my Guardian pretty much 100% of my gaming time. Grab a greatsword, notive the thief goes into stealth, press 5, follow the trail. See the Black Powder come out, I pull, most of the time stopping the stealth abuse. I hit hard enough that the thief needs to reset the fight, which is fine by me, I have 18K health, maximum backstabs I’ve seen are 4-5K on me. P/D gets annoying, but I just pop condis on them, sword 3 helps, focus abilities, constant pressure, forcing them to waste initiative and cd’s wile shrugging off the condis. It’s cheesy, but P/D is really effective.

As a ranger, I advise, in all seriousness, rerolling if you want to go solo. If not, get a nice group of 5.together, ecause, tbh, nobody really solo roams wvw anymore.

how long do you think does it take to get to lvl 80 in pve? probably a month or less. in case, you dont know it yet, getting to rank 46 takes almost a year.

i have nothing against wvw. when i was still doing pvp, i thought wvw was a big joke. people running in huge zergs, people just auto-attacking, players vs a very big door, etc… i actually enjoyed it a lot after i tried it. i started by wearing rare items, went back to pvp to farm more gold and bought exotic items after. im still using exotic armor and weapon. i only have trinkets as my ascended items. i also only get to consume food when a commander drops a cake at our base.

one of our commanders would always invite me to his party because he knows i can bring a lot to the table. when we get to fight in zerg, i position myself well so i can scavenge squishy enemies and wounded players.

what i really dont like about wvw are stealthy thieves. it’s ok when i’m fighting them 1v1 because at all times they will stay on the fight not knowing i can kill them faster than they can kill me but when i have allies with me, most of the times, they will stealth excessively, kill one of my allies, stealth and run away. i know some wvw players are not that good in fighting other players. i even had a warrior with me who made me tank the fight while he was using his longbow from a distance. lol. mmm… what i’m really getting at is that thieves shouldn’t be able to stealth that much. it’s insane. at least, minimize the amount of stealth that they can execute. it’s not really cool, when you fight someone who can easily reset anytime they want.

skill binding only makes you play the game a lot easier and it doesnt make you a better player. i’m playing with a handicap (laptop keys and a crappy mouse) but i can probably still beat most of these rude thieves 1v1. i’m a ransacker and played pvp since the day i bought the game. i got my ranger to lvl 80 by buying tomes of knowledge using my glory points.

i don’t need to play a meta – build to kill people in wvw. i’m running an underpowered zerker ranger but i can still kill most thieves i see roaming alone in wvw. and i can say that i’m never a liability when it comes to zerg battles because i make sure i get to kill more before i get killed. and last but not the least, i dont need perma-stealth and heavy armor to survive.

yah, i forgot. i’m sorry. you guys have too much free out-of-jail cards and it gets abused in wvw because of how big the place is. what i’m asking is to at least tweak it a bit so the game play would be a little more fair for other players who play a different class.

dude, i was maximizing my quickening zephyr speedness to burstdown the engie before he heals himself again. he was a bunker type and he could heal himself to full health. you clearly dont know how to play a zerker ranger. so what if i used my keyboard to turn my view, there’s really no need to turn that fast because i could anticipate where he was standing. a good player can still play on any circumstances.
