Not all the meta build are bunker …
well most of them are. :P
i agree. happy new year too!!!
i dont play warrior anymore btw.
i started playing non-meta build before i shifted to the meta. i think it’s better that way so. learning meta-builds when you’re new is not gonna make you a good fighter. btw, imo, one or two power builds in a team will help to win the match faster than having all players roll bunker/meta builds.
no need to buff rangers or nerf it. i can still pull off my glassy ranger in tpvp apparently. qz is strong when you know how to use it.
hmmm… maybe give us back that 33% damage on our storm spirit then i will call it fair.
(edited by Valentin.2073)
just today, i beat an engi 1v1 on my glass cannon ranger twice. lol
he asked me if engi’s got underpowered.
this is my power ranger: JoseValentin
i use him when there’s already one spirit ranger on the team.
pvp wise:
you choose your opponent when youre running a zerker build. classes that you can beat 1v1 are: engi, thief, guard, ele and another ranger. i tried it over and over, you are at a disadvantage when you are fighting against necro, warrior and mesmer. i use double bow btw so i can kite the enemy team from a high area. i also use qz on my shortbow for maximum dps (their dead before they can react).
how many times do you want to nerf spirit ranger? get over it, dude. if you can’t handle the meta just play another game. we don’t need anymore qq’s.
Sadly enough, this is why we cant have nice things. Oh well, Anet seems to be fine with low risk high reward builds that can be played by a poop chucking gorilla, so I guess all thats left for us to do is laugh at brain dead posts like this and move on.
anet has been nerfing rangers non-stop because of these insubstantial qq’s. yah know what? i can play power build and spirit build and they are both easy mode for me. its not your build that defines you as pvp’er its your own individual skill. people will complain about anything. when i get beaten 1v1, i dont complain. i just move on. you cant expect to win all your battles.
i think this build was buffed a bit. i can spam bleed with every critical hit i can make. i can even take down guardians 1v1. their dead before they can react. lol
im not sure if it’s gonna work vs more veteran players tho. i’m thinking that it works like an ele, it’s only good ‘till the enemies noticed you’re running a glassy build.
this is the build that i used before i started rolling the spirit build. what do you think, guys? i still love playing it in hotjoins but i’m afraid it’s not that viable in tpvp.
i can still play my power ranger and win 1v1. :P
a team of spirit rangers with one power necro having fun and winning in team arena. you can get away of having more than 1 spirit ranger sometimes. :P
Everyone there is super low ranked. That’s like saying I won a fight against a five year old by running him over with my car.
whatever… i like playing with lo ranked players. high ranked players are kinda snobbish and with proper training lo ranked players can be really good maybe at par with high ranked.
just stop it! each patch anet nerfs spirit rangers. what more do you want?
thanks for this thread. ive learnt a lot.
just a question, can i use scepter/dagger instead of dagger/dagger with this build? i like the combo i can make using the scepter.

this is my pvp ele: Prince Valentine Z.
this is my beloved ele: Prince Valentine Z
just think of spirits as moving signets. at least, spirits die not like signets.. signets are just plain boring. spirits take rangers to the frontline. they make rangers tankier and more aggressive. spirit rangers ftw!!!
what rangers need is more buffs on spirits. anet, please give us back that 33% damage on our storm spirit already. thank you.
(edited by Valentin.2073)
spirit build is not passive. spirits have active skills too. stop calling it passive build. a ranger equipped with signets that’s passive.
i use my torch to stealth (helps on stealth stomping when decoy is on CD), scepter has great blocking and GS is an amazing weapon on a mesmer. i think im getting good at playing my mesmer, although i play better on my ranger (my main) and necro (really easy class).
im sorry that link is messed up. idk why those utility skills got messed up. i dont use moa and phantasmal disenchanter. sorry.
this is the right one.

What’s your build? Just curious.
PS Always play what you want and ignore all the judgmental elitists and those who claim a build is ‘useless’ for this or that without any relevant experience.
this is my build, quaelyn.
just based on my observation, this is the tier. 1 the strongest 8 the weakest 1. mesmer 2. necro 3. ranger 4 . engineer 5. warrior 6. guardian 7. thief 8. ele

you can whisper me in-game. i can help you on how to play that build effectively.
thanks for that video, burnfall.
do you want an MM build?
there’s no need to be rude. we are just exchanging thoughts and opinions here.
i wonder if an ele and a thief engage in a 1v1 battle, who’s gonna come out as a victor? what do you think, guys? btw, i saw a spirit ranger lose to a really good ele 1 time in soloq.
3 Op Classes
3 Strongest 1v1
Thief
Warrior
Mesmers
you wish dude. thieves are pretty useless in tourneys. only a noob can lose to a thief 1v1. a thief has to work twice as hard to make themselves useful in ranked tourneys and soloq is infested of bad thieves atm.
(edited by Valentin.2073)
thieves can go on stealth for 14 seconds and more. max i can go on stealth on my mesmer is 5-6 sec, 4 sec on my ranger. is that even fair? thieves have the most utilities to troll someone in pvp.
stealth on thieves needs to be nerfed really hard, imo. it’s not that they are hard to beat 1v1 but they spamming their stealth is completely annoying.
i can kill 2 thieves at the same time as a spirit ranger but it still depends on the skills of the thief. a spirit ranger who uses double bows has the advantage over a s/d or p/p thief.
thanks battosai
thanks for the replies, guys. I have decided to keep playing my PU hybrid mesmer. i havent tried it in tpvp yet but I will be taking it after my team’s approval. I just hope, it can surpass the usefulness of MM’s and spirit rangers as backpoint and mid-point fighter. I always play those roles when we play in team arena.
(edited by Valentin.2073)
a spirit ranger can kill a warrior and a thief anytime. a necro can kill a spirit ranger anytime. a warrior can kill a necro anytime. lol gw2 is all about who counters who.
i use soldier amulet and rune of the fighter on my spirit ranger and i think i was able to achieve the spec that i was looking for. i dont rely on my spirits for condition, i got raw dps thru a little tweaking on my build. reason i like playing spirit ranger is because of the spirits active skills. i duelled some warriors and they said that i hit really hard for a spirit ranger. mm is op in lo rank teamq. i even play that spec naked in hotjoins just to be fair. i tried to roll a hambow warrior but i wasnt very good at it. lol i think anyone can adjust pu build into something balanced not just relying on stealth and attrition.
Is this a troll post? Going from 1 EZ AI-build to another isn’t really gonna give you the excitement you are looking for. Why don’t you play an active build/class as opposed to messing around with the easiest builds you can find?
Play something like power-engie or necro, dps guardian, ele, shatter mes, power ranger, etc. and you might enjoy it a ton more. Its much more challenging and requires you to not only know your own class, but also every other class/build and how you can best counter-act what they are trying to do.
you just gave a list of squishy specs. i want a build that’s balanced in terms of damage and toughness. i dont like the idea of going full glass or full bunker thats why i choose to use soldier amulet and fighter runes. i want a build that i will enjoy playing and not something that will frustrate me and my team.
which build is signet of ether more useful? that heal does wonders.
i say let it stay. enough said.
if you don’t want hotjoin then dont play on it. it’s really easy. i use hotjoins to try out new builds.
hotjoin is fun. you can kill people at random places not worrying about your ranking. it’s the most enjoyable part of pvp.
stop suggesting to delete it.
I’m starting to get bored playing my spirit ranger and MM necro in pvp. I’m thinking about playing mesmer as my main. which build do you think is better to play in pvp, phantasm or PU?
at least just the pvp part. I am much better playing on consoles than on my laptop with all the unnecessary keys that you might press while playing. I wish anet will make plans to make this game available for consoles too (xbox, ps, wii).
(edited by Valentin.2073)
btw, me and my guildies tried to pull off an all spirit ranger team in tpvp and was able to win some but a team of MM’s just crushed us to the ground. we were helpless in the hands of this necro build. lol
Condition necromancers are still the best, most viable necromancer build. But necromancers aren’t optimal in any structured PvP group.
it’s because of the new heals. PU/phantasm mesmers, MM’s and spirit rangers benefited the most from the new heal skills.
What? The new necromancer heal is worthless, and it’s absolutely not taken as a minion master.
the new heal on a necro is specially designed for minion masters (siphoning) although i prefer consume conditions over it. :P
Lol no, SoV doesnt effect minions…
MM ether run cc or bloodfiend as heal (some with healing power maybe even WoB).And while its true that condition necros can still be viable, mm is now the only build necros have without a hard counter. In that sense it is the safest build to go for a necro.
warriors are still the necro’s bane but pretty much necro can beat any other class.
Because literally almost every other game ever, especially most “triple A” titles, that have node capture game modes teach players that stacking on the capture point decreases the time it takes to capture it.
That, and Guild Wars 2 has no tutorial or any sort of explanatory device in game that ever tells players to the contrary.
I mean, we still have players who believe that channeled skills are showing you “per hit” damage instead of a running total, and things like this are supposedly less complicated?
I totally get the frustration, but it would be a much different issue if there was a game mechanic that explained these things to new players, instead of just throwing them into the mix and making them figure everything out on their own.
This.
This very same game won the MMO of the year for the second time.
But still nothing like tutorials.
All is vain.
it did? i knew it. GW2 is the sh**. i love gw2.
Funniest things you heard in PvP?
the ridicule of the meta by one who helped to make this
spirits look beautiful on that gif, tbh. they added color and beauty to the match.
