I would still play without loot if they deepened the levelling system to add more advancement options and customization. Essentially, I’d like if they traded one carrot for another, more delicious carrot.
So ye liked carrots… like a bunny. !
Shouldn’t the price for a precursor go down over time as more people acquire them? I don’t see the logic in their cost getting any higher. Especially if we have another event that awards them.
That is the point. I want a Twilight, but its already common now. And that is why most of them paid 20-60g to get it. I dont want to pay 700g+ more for one dusk.
Oh, and legendarys for laurels would make no sense to me.
Who said legendaries? I suggested precursors, 25% of a legendary.
So, since it’s likely to take long times to earn laurels, why not put precursors available to purchase for like 1,500 laurels or something?
It should be a long-term commitment, by doing them available it will, you could also set the precursors available at laurel vendors to be acc-bound or soulbound, this way you’d not ruin the “economy” with those already on the market.
What do you guys think?
Sad that no one checked the maths of the original post. Without even digging deep into the post the money spent vs the return is not reported. 662 gold spent on buying rares from the TP, and op stated he then sold all exotics back to tp. A conservative (very conservative) estimate on sales of the exotics would be about 450 gold (with a very low average of 6 gold per exotic or so, if it were a named exotic, could be upwards of 100) That would put money spent at around 200 gold, not the 552 stated. Also not taking into account any rares that may have also been returned on any combines, saving them from being bought. If just two of the exotics were named, or if a few were of above average quality, this would in turn have netted a net gain instead of loss. All besides of which doesn’t take into account the making your own rares instead of buying them.
And this is just casually looking at the OP.
And yet, NO precursor for 552g. Cheers for the Blessed Mystic Toilet.
@Edit
No seriously, I hope they bring a DECENT challenge to this 1/4 of the legendary with the elusive Scavenger Hunt, it is their chance to show some respect to their playerbase; if something is very difficult to attain, it must be difficult not grindy, something grindy ISN’T difficult… omg it’s just grindy, they are not SYNONYMS.
And please, don’t even start it if it’s going to be buggy or squishy (like Simin in Arah p4).

These kinds of topics are scaring people away from the game, let’s see how long it’ll take to ANet realize it.
I love reading the mindset that seems to say…“If I die, it must be the class, cause its surely not me…therefore all classes but mine should be nerfed”
Those mindsets permeate gaming forums.
They make me laugh.
Agreed. Guess what, ill give some personal disclosure. The othe night I ran in on a necro who had just stomped someone. My guess is that a good number of his skills were on cd. I ran in perfectly fresh with my ele. We went back and forth but he ultimately had fleshy knock me down, threw a well and went to town until he kicked my kitten
Guess what. He was better than me. Get used to it, a lot of people will beat you. Learn and move on
That was humbly sincere. +1
Well, as an Ele I learned about my skills and their limitations, I can easily avoid almost ANY of my own AoEs, so why not play an ele to see for yourself?
Grab of Fire is elementalist’s highest damage skill, it is melee and easily avoidable, Dragon’s Tooth hovers over your head for like 2s-3s before dropping (and requires a target, sigh), it is OFMG-ly avoidable…. almost everything can be avoided or mitigated in some way.
Someone should compile these funny names like Trading Post Wars 2, Bug Wars 2, Elewars 2, Dropped My Beer Wars 2, etc.
Farming is fine unless it becomes overwhelmingly tedious, didn’t a dev state gw2 farming would be “creative” or something back then?
Isn’t it somehow harder because the game has a proprietary engine?
Hello, I’m here to crush your dreams.
……
Thank you.
Living up to the rep, I see…..
Watch for what you post…
So many concerns about AoEs and so many MMOs that this work perfectly fine as it is…
Hello, I’m here to crush your dreams.
Fair’s fair notice – If you post it I get to comment on it.
Lots of dreams have been crushed recently.
Have a nice day!
It’s funny as it actually worked!
You rock, Regina!
Oh no ice karkas, their multi-hit attack is already massive, if there come up with ice ones we’ll get chilled for eternity!
Well… uh… we have raptors that can be trained (skelks are trained somewhere in charr lands), and… uh… Dolyaks… (someone please help me lol)
I don’t bother being stomped if far from a gate yes, I don’t even try scaping as it’s pointless in a zerg unless a thief cloaks me… bunker eles maybe need a nerf? if nerfing one thing is required to buff others, then I’d go with it if staff eles got a little more support-focused skills (e.g. change Unsteady Ground for some temporary armor buff cast on someone like WoW shaman’s Armor of Earth or something).
I can confirm that this is just random, there are days that I get 0-1 ecto everytime, and others that I get almost always 2-3 ectos.
etc
Leave melee aoe as is
Buff melee as a whole
Perhaps buff single target dps, especially single target melee dps not including dagger
Maybe make a new type of aoe-counter-
Sure, leave WARRIORS stronger than anything else, and delete low-defense ranged classes/builds from the game, after all the damage as well as their defense must be nerfed till they become kitten useless classes. =)
There could be some system to tie parties together with MF and remove all MF armor/weapon from the game, or something. ^.^
They designed elementalists in a way that the class does make sense, this nerf/rework will have to adjust graphically with the class (animations and such) and its philosophy.
@Edit
Oh, and ele players never ever complained about other classes who have much stronger AoE attacks despite this being one of our class’ highlights.
(edited by Valento.9852)
For some weapon sets, the AOE options may be too strong compared to the single target options, which is what we aim to address.
This. This. This. And this!
This is probably all they meant.
Thank you for clarifying Jonathan Sharp. I was skeptical at first, but your posts really cleared up my worries.
It will be very interesting, to say the least. Speaking as an Engineer, I hope the Wrench Kit will be balanced t excel at single target dmg more than Grenade Kit.
And as a Thief, hopefully this will resolve the Unload vs Cluster Shot fiasco.
What can a staff elementalist expect as almost all skills are AoE?
Same for most of our skills (scepter, mh dagger), seriously I won’t re-roll and anything, I’ve always played mages cause they are known for their serious nice AoE capability in exchange for their survivability, I have this feeling as of now for eles, if they nerf AoE too much then what is left for this AoE class? lol
You need to understand that some builds can only deal a great amount of damage through AoEs if they spec for so, try balancing the traits instead of nerfing so strong these skills, or replace skills by anothers if the amount of AoEs per set is too high.
Capping number of targets for some AoE isn’t a good idea imo as it takes the AoE factor out of them.
I link them just to show all the pugs that drops may happen sometimes, and to show how lowlevel fractals drop more yellows than highlevels, and how this makes me confused.
This is kitten nosense, AoEs (at least for elementalists) have something called RECHARGE, it’s going to be pointless using AoEs, they nerfed to the ground staff eles, kitten
Worse than that, as a guardian I’ve stood directly under a meteor shower in WvW several times, for its entire length, and only been knocked down 3-4k health. Those things only hurt if they HIT you, and even then they don’t hurt that bad.
That’s another point, too, who is kitten enough to take a meteor shower?
I am going to tell my friends there is no such “aoe class” anymore, they can head back to TERA, may I follow them soon after.
@Edit
Just to add, it does not matter how I position my meteor, it rarely hits people, only siege, because they are often smart enough not to take a heavy damage on the head; remember this nerf will affect healing rain too, I rolled an ele because I chose AoE to be my gameplay, now I’m forced into a 1vs1 class again.

I guess it’ll still be possible to do dungeons and such between NA and EU.
Finally!
Luckily alliances will grow stronger now, and people will be able to PvE with friends, this is one of the things some of my friends have been waiting since launch. Thanks!
@EDIT
And just stop the QQing about gem fee, it was known much BEFORE the game was even launched, just research. Period.
(edited by Valento.9852)
ORIGINALLY server transfer would YES require a 2,000gems fee, just stop please.
Again, the main issue imo is forcing group composition when GW2 should be about knowing how to play your character, some classes simply CAN’T have kitten high quick DPS.
@Edit
“2.Everytime the sparks gets put into the circles dwyana gets a unique buff that amplifies the damge taken / or at a certain number of stacks auto kills the boss”
This is a very good idea, this buff that amplifies the dmg taken could last just a little (20sec or so), it would make it possible for any group to take down Dwayna and at the same time would stick to the expected time an explorable dungeon can be beaten as stated by the devs (about 40min.).
(edited by Valento.9852)
Yeah variable dailies!!!!! THIIIIS!
Somehow I feel a bit sorry for really needing rewards, it’s just that it becomes pointless coming back even though the world itself is beautifully designed, bringing new rewards will make it more fun to replay old content with friends and guildies!
I’m thinking of finding a party for daily map runs! lol (to RP and whatnot)
Awesome post Colin!
Impossible to do with a normal party composition, you NEED quick burst DPS classes (heavy classes), I’ll only do it again if the party is 4 warriors + me, this is so stupid, 8 hours wasted.
I hope you don’t consider this boss “hard”, cause this is not hard it’s buggy, even though everyone in the party spec’d for high DPS (2 ele d/d, guardian, warrior, necro) we couldn’t beat it, I want to see a video from ANet beating this boss with this very same party composition.
@Edit
Oh yea, I want to see now someone solo’ing this boss as it’s been happening quite often recently.
They separate racial skills from sPvP, I’m sure they can come up with other creative skills or more skill systems (2-field combos, same profession combos, etc) just for PvE!
Is it just me or it looks like the staff skin has been improved?
Lol people just said almost everything, but I’d like better staves and maybe Orbs? For both hands! lol!
If Ree Soesbee posted more in the forums, the respective threads would become endless as there is so much to talk about the lore!
These kinds of clothes for sylvari aren’t good because sylvari females at least aren’t like “sexy”, at least for now. >.<
(edited by Valento.9852)
Just did fotm lvl10 right now (my actual level is 50 now) and got: 6 rares and 3 exotics, this never happened before, even less in higher levels… I feel so confused about fractals because of this, can someone explain why I get better rewards doing lower level fractals?
I guess I should change my sign then since what has been said is false.
I now have no idea of what to expect, I just hope they get rid of RNG, or reduce the amount of randomness required to do things, or split them among smaller RNGs, or something else.
We are however working on expanding reward systems to make them more re-rewarding across all parts of the game, making the open world more rewarding, and adding new ways you can earn precursors as rewards via new reward systems taking advantage of our open persistent world.
this is all we need to know.
This is true too, thanks!
(edited by Valento.9852)
some do, but I find it boring because they never drop anything good for me. what’s the point of fighting one for 5-10 minutes if you get a green?
sad that people don’t look for challenges only ego gear
It is not about gear, it’s about dropping something at least rewarding… since the champions are strong than most mobs around they could drop relics worth some silver or something, I don’t know, it brings down to one of the major issues in GW2: rewards systems.
You can transfer freely for now, but it’ll cost 2,000gems in the future.
I would if they at least dropped like 20s or something, but they would always drop nothing…
I have yet to try Veteran Karka on my elementalist!
Mist Form works well for an Ele too. You might try using leap abilities of other classes too (Guardian Greatsword… 3 i think? for instance), but I don’t know for sure if those would work.
Did you notice they aren’t allowing Mist Form through a lot of traps in the game? (like AC’s spike traps)
Anything above 200g is simply unacceptable if this tab is to exist, stop overpricing 1/4 of the legendary thanks.
Stop the pressure over them, I’m interested in the scavenger hunt too (hint signature) but if we want it without bugs or at least a minimum of bugs, just stop wasting your time here.
You don’t need to buy the precursors from the Trading Post, let the sellers die alone waiting, simple.
Make some RNG stuff reachable otherwise, don’t make a system that fully revolves around pure randomness.
Thank you so much.
I agree, it’s not all bad, the only thing bad is attempting to get precursors from it.
Next.
(edited by Valento.9852)
Hmmm thinks …. three elementalists being able to channel fire power to drop a Fire Nova! yeah now that’s a FF-style combo I’ve once in my NDS!
