[…] a living world narrative could allow us to rebuild and change an existing zone or dungeon, or could destroy one entirely.
I got chills when I read this, yes please do sir, bring destruction to any map you wish or heal a map like Orr leaving just a few undeads on the map and people rebuilding their lives there. #gw2livingstory
Just don’t want to get a feeling of losing money, I’m buying the Mining Pick sir! but only the pick!
Just have patience, content will eventually be launched, I’m sure ANet wants to get everything working perfectly before releasing any expansion (or at least with a minimum of bugs).
I just can’t wait to see all the magical story of Kralkatorrik, what happened to Glint’s egg and so forth (though it may take many years to come out).
Braham is a NORN guys, take that into consideration, and the fact he was raised away from his mother.
But it’s weird he was kind of exhausted after the battle with the 2 final bosses, shouldn’t he run after a couple of ales after the fight instead?
This, imo, is the worst part of the content update. Those weapons are awesome. Far better than the gloves or anything else (except maybe the infinite usage picks).
I’m really really sad that we can only get the weapons via the BLC. Same with the Halloween shoulderpads and the Lost Shores stuff. This constant RNG stuff via the BLC is just… demotivating to me. The dyes in this is just as bad.
I really hope they stop – or at least lessen – with it. I’d much rather get gear SAB style or hell, even like how one had to get The Crossing/The Mad Moon/Arachniphobia from Halloween. Far better than (limited time?) RNG stuff.
Totally agree, I think that in the future, the coolest-looking people will have their skins bought from GemStore, by that time I’ll have stopped playing Guild Wars 2.
After all, everything comes down to skins, why should I play a game if the only ones rewarded are those who spend A LOT of ca$h to get random drops from BLC?
It’ll not become “pay-to-win”, but “pay-to-havesomething”.
Hahah useless item that is, it’s so sick it drops everytime. >.>
I’d love an all-out attack against Wayfarer Foothills and Diessa Plateau leaving desastrous changes on both maps, and some mystery from GW1 solved.
For a second I thought MF meant “Magic Find” lol… should name it Molten Alliance so it doesn’t cause misunderstandings.
A new tier of nodes doesn’t necessarily need to lead to a new tier of gear. For example, one could imagine a new tier of nodes yielding resources used to craft statless gear with unique appearances to be used as skins. Or even town clothes, which would be neat.
Would that ever happen?
I’m intrigued, I might buy the Mining Pick just to ensure…
The item itself actually says Able to mine all metals, so it is quite unlikely that they would be unable to mine any possible higher tier.
I see, I’d still like a dev comment on this just to ensure.
On a second thought though, I think it’s unlikely they’ll release new node tiers because then they’d have to add new armor/weapon/etc tiers into the game and they promissed ascended would be the last of them.
I find it disturbingly funny when people come with the legendary speech that it is meant to be “hard” hahaha. Making a legendary is not hard, having to do something extremely grindy is not hard, it is simply grindy, if they come up with a DECENT challenge to earn precursors for example, this could become hard not grindy.
Difficulty has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with grinding, you can faceroll tons of monsters to get their items (t6 matts for example), nothing in a legendary offers challenge, only faceroll grind.
And then, people say you need “experience in all fields of game”, what about someone getting 3 legendaries within the first 2 months of gameplay (or even less)? A bit too fast for a long-term goal, isn’t it?
(edited by Valento.9852)
They have same effectiveness as Orichalcum ones but are endless, will the gathering quality rise up if a new tier of nodes comes to the game? (e.g. a new tier of ore)
As long as ANet makes boss mechanics interesting and keep you on the move, I’ll play the game, otherwise it would be hack ’n slash and people (myself included) hate that.
“Oh, we’re so dead.” hahah it was hilarious, guys laughed altogether in TS.
Let they nerf it to the ground then launch a revamp for eles, until then I’ll be killing moas.
The game isn’t displaying textures properly every now and then, the character models appear on a green/blue shade very scarry and sometimes it lags and glitches like snow squares all over LA.
I have a GT240 and this was NOT happening before today’s update.
I’ll use a bunker build finally, hope it is FUN TO PLAY WITH as this is a major philosophy they stand for.
Once I finish my desired grindy legendary that others got within 3 months of gameplay in whatever methods, I will enjoy the DE’s. Write it down please, thanks.
Kitten unbelievable topic this is, why’d someone accumulate so much gold? Then ANet should not cater for that extent of hardcore’ing, I agree with the guy above.
Classes should have boon-hate on Master traitlines, to be “a build” to choose from, not mandatory, these changes are so sick I’m not even talking about them.
I’m fairly sure that’s what they meant. We’ll have to wait and see anyways. If so, it just becomes a gap closer like bull’s Rush, that’s not as movement impaired. I’ll still use it, and not feel bad about it anymore.
Until they hammer the skill again.
Honestly, I keep asking myself why they added daggers for elementalists if they were going to nerf it till it becomes bs.
They said in the video they want to take ele’s mobility, then just remove RtL and save people from further frustration.
Don’t worry, they are going to screw over elementalists until they become a bs, then tone them up 6 months later (like warriors).
Oh glorious balance.
Is there a zerker problem?
This.
Is there a zerker problem at all? o.0
Must be the ISP, I had the impression it was the servers’ fault but it turned out a major problem with the entire connection in my country…
Elementalist, I roll bunker and lock and kill the enemy slowly, it’s a joy.
Why are classes so tied with what they are and that’s it? I mean, no class-specific titles, no class progression (even if fit into the levelling, e.g. Disciple -> Mesmer/Elementalist, etc), nothing that highlights your dedication to a class, everything so the same.
On the other hand, there are many people on the forums that don’t like particle effects, not very sure why, there are many items in-game that is static with no effects whatsoever, it doesn’t hurt to have new shiny options.
What is most surprising in GW2 is that you have a deep feeling that things CAN be done, the engine seems to be very flexible for creation; and yeah, I loved the wings for elementalists!
I posted another suggestion regarding staffs for elementalists, class-specific makes you feel unique in dedicating time for your class. I love it.
Hi there people, and ArenaNet.
I’ve seen many threads about lack of endgame and nothing to fight for, as every item seems to be a buy-once-and-have-it-forever, so to solve lack of things to do PvE-wise once you hit lvl80: add cosmetic progression!
Cosmetic progression means it’s just about looks, one won’t be stronger because they have more or less of this, and here’s how it could be implemented:
- Armor “Empowering” Tokens: You could add recipes made with dungeon tokens that would add very slight PARTICLE EFFECTS to armors. For instance, there could be Headpiece Ghostly Essence, it could take:
-> 1 Ghostly Essence (150 Ascalonian Tears + some dust + other things)
-> 1 Ancient Helm (Light, Heavy, Medium) that could be bought by 50silver+50 AC Tears, or obtained in story mode randomly (30%+ chance?), or something
-> Two other components.
It would make use of dungeon tokens, people would like to revisit abandoned dungeons, costs could be increased (I don’t really mind, just want to have people to play with in old dungeons and new rewards would bring them back, and add a new feel to dungeons).
Recipes could be crafted by the crafting disciplines which have lost their value over the time. Casuals wouldn’t have trouble with this as it’s only cosmetic AND achievable, with DR in place you would control how many AC Tears people would be able to obtain so there wouldn’t be a rush. It is a vertical progression, but for looks, the current skin system actually works because it’s horizontal, if someone wants to add particle effects to their already obtained dungeon gear they would have to work a bit more for it. Particle effects could be small but well designed to make the armor not look like a carnival custome (not ponies popping out of the armor), but into the dungeon’s theme (i.e. ghostly effects for AC armor, fire/lava effects for CoF, etc).
Of course, ghostly effects would be tied with AC armor only, it would be weird to have ghostly essence flowing in a fire armor, I imagine AC particle effects like when you turn into ghost in explorable mode path 3 (Tzark’s path).
Now, I know this has an almost inexistant chance of happening, but the idea could be extended to other things they want. This one connects many things left behind in the current game, the devs could set a relation between armor effects with open world too, if they so desire.
PS.: Sorry for my english, I suck at explaining things.
I don’t know, maybe a brown dye?
BWAHAHAHAHAAH thank you sir, you made my day.
I agree with OP, please don’t… I wasted 100g last time, it takes TIME to gather this amount if you don’t play TP, and you should know that not everyone knows or enjoys playing the TP.
The dungeon itself will be available for a limited amount of time, as it is tied to the ongoing story. The possibility of revisiting the content is not out of the question, however. It just becomes a matter of determining where and when it makes sense to do so.
Since fractals are fragments of time that have been stabilized, would it be possible to add this Living Story instance as a new fractal? It allows players to replay the dungeon and you have the mechanic in place already where it changes every time you go in it. You can also apply this to the Ancient Karka from the Lost Shores event. Instances in Guild Wars 2 history that people can experience that they may have missed out on.
OR
Would you create like a Living Story book (Something like in Guild Wars 1) where you choose which previous Living Story experiences you missed
Best idea I ever heard regarding dungeons. Please consider it, oh mighty designers!
Beat this like a boss, keep ’em coming, I like to use my dodging skills properly and this challenged me yeah.
Well, with my experience since GW2’s closed beta is that language is extremely relative in almost every possible way.
One can speak in their native language with someone else who understands it, it’s a 1-to-1 conversation and it doesn’t harm anyone, I can, for instance, express my feelings about something in portuguese when talking to a guildie, no one MUST know what I’m talking about because I’m not talking to them.
99% of brazilian guilds are very disciplined about teaching their members to talk in english whenever necessary, but we can’t obligate others do to as we instruct (just like in real world, because of something called free will).
Besides, I’ve seen many foreign language guilds recruiting in their own language in /map chats and yet no one came to the forums to stereotype them. Aion is/was Aion, GW2 is GW2, I didn’t even play Aion but I’m sure GW2 public is way more mature than Aion’s (we have a GW2 brazilian main site/forum, the quality of discussion shows).
You should separate what one is allowed to do, and what you expect them to do.
And just to get offtopic very quickly now, in-game relationships don’t translate in what people post on forums; the devs can enter the game and see for themselves how everything is going there, I’m quite sure they won’t see anything that bad at all. People must get over the hatred for each other.
(edited by Valento.9852)
@Geotherma, I know lots of people like you and what you try to highlight, but as you already stated it’s not all brazilians that act or do things like that. Actually you’re bringing up a very disgusting stereotype that hopefully ArenaNet doesn’t agree with, there are thousands of people here who have respect for MMORPGs and because there were incidents in the past involving one country it doesn’t mean that should be extended to every other game released.
Not only in Brazil, but many countries have bad people who act in a childish nosense way and can bring bad things to the game (RMT’s don’t even exist here), if you generalize that behavior from one game to all the others then you’re taking it a bit too far.
I hope you change your mind, you might be missing out many friends and actually nice people.
Well, at least in my guild if some members can’t communicate, those who knows a bit of english can intermediate the conversation for the rest. In WvW, specifically, following or giving orders is pretty much straightforward, yesterday a group of ours played with [Choo], [TW], and [FEAR], and it was a blast!

I hardly (if never) get any delay, have you tried playing GW2 from here to say that?
Just imagine if greatswords didn’t have glow effects alongside the weapon body, it would be so meh..
Particles and particles with lots of particles.
Well there are players and players, and optional content.
