Best build is what you come up yourself while playing and experimenting to suit your gamestyle and needs. Try often, try them all, tailor your own. I can tell you this, you cant go horribly wrong, even if you do totally bizare build, you still going to preform “OK”.
If you go to Mists, you can respec 24/7 without pay and test your builds on goblems with free 80 weapons, sigils, gear ect. Great way to spend time.

My necro just died a little inside.
I play both Necro and Warrior and slowly gear them up. But for me Necro is wild card, because part of me do not believe that Anet going to make changes for them and class ends up in “broken” loop for years. But if necro will be fixed then at least I have one already.
I sure am sick of people whining when being killed by a class designed to kill. No one ever stops to consider how often a glass cannon thief dies.

and? Endure Pain = Stealth and lol at him for 4 sec, come back and blow him up with 10k Skillstabs.

- The best condition damage stats combo (Toughness + Precision + Condition Damage) is impossible to get on jewelry in PvE, and for armor and weapons you need to farm explorer mode dungeons to get those stat combos. Also since not every dungeon has those stats available, if you don’t like the look of those sets, you’ll have to farm double to get the set you like the look of + the set with the stats for transmutations.

You can get T/P/C armors for Karma. I do quite often WvWvW on necro and Karma gain is really fast. Only item I cant buy T/P/C is chest for Karma. Rest is there.
and yes you need to use transmutation stones as stats are spread among many different armors.
I am Necro and Warrior player and necros are fine, class is just buggy and I would get rid of Death Magic tree “minion” small traits that are useless for every build except minion master. Small traits like: Jagged Horror and give X Toughness for every minion you have.
Some stability wouldnt hurt but I can live without it.

But I guess everyone plays different. I personally shy away from Rifle warrior, I find it too “meh”, besides my Norn buddies would just laugh at me.
Try condition damage Bow/Shield + Sword, it’s pretty strong and while it is a condition build, it’s very bursty and if several opponents are stacked up, you can finish them all at the same time. I’m still working on farming the gear for it.

Thats bull kitten, warriors can keep 15-20 stacks of might up almost permanently, no, anet intended people to stack boons, they also added boon removals for that reason. I doubt backstab will get nerfed, also several other skills in this game hit just as hard aka 100blades or kill shot, rapid fire with a glass cannon signet build, thieves have to give up ALOT of survivability for that damage and should be rewarded. You can argue they come out of stealth for it but lol yea… stealth isnt permanent, you can see thieves coming and prepare for it.
Ive been hit by them also, and when a thief seems to have a kitten for me I start preparing for that thief and sure enough I either kill him or come kitten close on all my toons, thieves excell at 1v1, but this game isnt balanced around it. So if you lose 1v1, start rolling in a pack or with a friend, problem solved.

Backstab needs only positioning. While 100B needs stun skill like Bullrush to land as warrior is immobile during 100B, on top of that you need Frenzy to fully use 100Bo r your opponent will break stun and dodge. So please get your facts right.
Glass cannon thieves dont give up any survivability in PvP. With ability to constantly stealth away you have best survival/get away mechanic. Try glass cannon warrior vs glass cannon thief, thief always comes on top.
Good thief will also not show that “hes coming” he will appear and beat the crap out of you. So before posting stupid kitten like this, play some other classes and fight against thieves and you will love your thief and its survivability in glass cannon no brainer build.
I ran similar way on my necro but tbh, I found healing from Well’s just not enough to be effective. So I changed to DS focused. When thief jumps on me and I am out of dodges I enter DS, and it triggers Enfeebling Blood, and when I leave DS, I get heal. When I dodge I cast Mark of Blood, which will also heal. Combined with my staff marks and scepter/dagger skills, I do beat thieves but it is always really close fight.
lol at that video. You are just not skilled enough yet. You need to learn to read mind of thief and predict his move before he does them, I mean come on, all pros do that and when he stuns you, all you do is stunbreaker and dodge. Its that easy, just dodge or if you are out of cooldowns then I am sorry you are not pro enough. Pro player can dodge thief for 2 minutes easy.
Thief class is hard to master. I mean having position yourself to hit that one and only skill to oneshot your opponent requires tactical thinking and genious mind.
I can tell you this. From countless encounters against skilled thieves, and lets face it, all of them are since its so hard to master class. I have yet to beat one in 1 on 1 fight. Closest was when I actually landed a bleed stack of two for six secounds on him. Boy he was kitten but from that moment I realized that I am getting better. I will be like those pro thieves but it will take me years of training to best them.

A.Net is fixing necromancers every patch. One bugfix/patch, so I would say that in year or two we might see some improvement on minion AI.

Thinking of using this as me new damage, crit build. Its a edit of my original build I have been using. I run Dual Axe with the Draconic Berserker set (Power, Precision, Crit Dmg %).
I play WvW and I know this type of build is usually frowned upon (glass cannon) but I like being able to put out a lot of burst.
I run a dual axe damage/crit build at the moment and love it. Yes I’m not the toughest warrior on the battlefield it just means you have to play smart and pick and choose your fights. Not a bad thing if you ask me.
With that build and gearset, you wont live to finish your burst. Ranged just need to snease at you and you will crumble.
You shouldnt, do like I did, roll another class and return to necro when its fixed. (if ever). Class is awsome, but buggy and many traits useless.
Ansver to OP’s topic: I played Warlock in WoW, I hoped something similar “dark caster” class. I still think its cool class thats why my 80 necro is collecting dust while I rock on my warrior. When bugs are fixed, I will take on necro and make it my main.

Take Frenzy completely away and add that you can use 100B while moving. I use Frenzy + 100B because if you go without Frenzy you are lucky to hit more than 2 times with 100B against your opponent.

Stag armor is nice but I made set from many armors and I love it on my Norn.
I have yet to play game where I truly enjoyed PvP as I do in EVE Online. But GW2 PvP is OKish, it would be better if devs would focus more on it and add different gamemods.
Sad Warriors? Drop your rifle son and pick up GS/Sword+Shield. Since I rolled warrior I never touched ranged weapons beyond just unlocking skills. I am melee all the way in WvWvW and I am as effective as I am on my necromancer.
You have 10% movement speed trait and I suggest you to take it, as well as Mobile Strikes.
…aand of course you need to be 80 to survive in melee brawls… aand avoid Berserker’s gear if you plan to do WvWvW as melee. Best is Power/Vit/Toughness… aand dont go glass cannon build.

Warriors have many good builds, in SPvP Hammer is my favorite, in PvE 2xAxe is fun or banner spport. But in WvWvW, 100B is just best damage spec. But one should never go full glass cannon 100B in WvWvW, you will die before you see enemy. Every class have cookie-cutter spec, warriors are not that special.
I like personal stories, on my warrior and necro. If I really have to dig out something negative its that my Norn, stops being norn the further I go into story. She has voice of norn and all but the way she speaks, is more human than norn, you will notice clear difference once you done with norn starting personal story quests. Which is quite shame, but overall, I like it.
Warrior. There is nothing wrong with Bullrush+Frenzy+100B. Its actually ideal for WvWvW, as if you go GS/Sword+Shield (+Mobile Strikes) you will be able to charge into “zerg”, kill someone and fly out. Any other weapon or combos wont allow you to do that because, 1. You wont kill anyone fast, or 2. You are not mobile enough to get out once mass zerg targets you down.

I use my necro as badge collector. For some reason melee warrior takes forever to get single badge while on my necro I collect 10+ in hour.
Use Specrtal Walk, if you trait it, you can have Swiftness up almost 24/7. It does not port you back when it ends if you dont click on skill again.
Bugs and lack of effective builds, useless traits.
Well, I am sorry if some traits are ignored its by good reason, its not players fault its dev’s fault for making useless trait like “Jagged Horror”.
My problem is that I specced 30 points into Blood tree thinking it would give me nice self healing with all 50% boost in healing traits an all and after I was ready to go I noticed I heal 29HP/hit…. 29HP! For 30 points in Blood tree. It was frustraiting and I wasted time on that “experiment” which in the end made me go back to my original build. If I saw numbers at start I wouldnt even bothered to try out Blood tree.
Whole point is that I see numbers to optimize my build into something I came up with, not making build blindfolded and then later realize that it was total garbage.
I hate to waste tonns of time just to test how much “Wells siphon life”, test for how much…. does it heal allies….. all that garbage just to find out that Warrior with single banner outheals my 30 point Blood tree by far.
Eventually people find out about stats and they will ignore them, I see it happening even now so whatever “hiding” policy devs are rolling on its not sollution. Make traits more appealing and show us stats.

Thats great, how much? Add number that will automatically check your current stats and calculate exact number how much it will heal/pulse.
Another example:
Necro Trait: Terror
“Fear does damage.”
Thats cool! How much? Once again add number that automatically checks your stats and shows you exactly how much damage it will do.

Wow…. thats so much healing. So I have to hit and crit thief for 70 times to counter his 1 attack which deals 4k. xD
You get that armor looks for just playing personal story (I did it on vigil side.). You start getting “skins” of that armor when you reach Fort Trinity and from that on, keep playing and you get full set of that armor skins. (Just preview quest rewards to find it.)
The real problem here is invisible enemies. Give their algorithms time to match servers properly.

Interesting enough I do see inc large armies “zergs” so I can report their inc. But I do have really good PC that runs game smoothly even in most demanding situations. But only time I have experienced “invisible” enemy is when two zergs clash. Then its just unplayable and since I am melee warrior, I cant do much as if I run deeper into enemy line, I get killed before I see my attacker.
I would rather chose that game show me some “basic” model with invader/defender color armor than no enemy at all.
I love how he fought Necro whos ELITE skill minion was just standing afk watching.. “claps”. I guess that necro havent mastered Deathshroud.
Play some other class then I might watch.
Mesmer, everyone is mesmer, you will be king of PvP with mesmer, never die, kill everything in 1 vs 1.

Mesmer, its fotm, like Frost Mages in WoW, unbeatable in 1 vs 1, and you hardly ever die, everyone wants your class in their team. Makes you cool in PvP, people worship your skillz and your kitten grows by 20 inches.
Necro, useless traits. Bugged. No damage, one half viable spec and you die easy.

Its funny that you say “Who cares about pug games…” well, people want this game to be esport and if casuals who have no teams yet to compete in TPvP try out pug game that is in horrible state then guess what? They leave and you wont get your esport.
Anyway, I agree that its stupid that it does not award you for defending but then again if it did, wouldnt everyone defend and none actually try cap as it has higher risk than just sitting on point with 8 of your buddies and collect points?
In my oppinion, GW2 does not have what needed to be esport. Why? Simple really. I let me brother (who never played GW2) to watch one of my PvP game and this is what he said; “I really have no idea what is going on.”.
So I frapsed WoW arena game. “Bunch of people running around pillars, but I cant tell who is who and what are they doing to win”.
So lastly I frapsed Starcraft 2 game and he enjoyed it. It was easy to see units, it was clear not confusing and he said that it reminded of some Aliens movie battle as it was Zerg vs Terran.
Overall, he enjoyed watching SC2 quite a lot because it was simple to understand. While in gamemodes like WoW Arena or GW2 sPvP, its confusing and I got feeling that I was forcing him to watch something he didnt like. Sure it might not be confusing to people who play actual game but what makes great esport game is that you can watch it and never even play the game and still understand and enjoy it. GW2 does not have it.
I watch Erho stream quite often and I see him shooting with his pistol or rifle, jumping around but thats about it. From casual viewer you cant see what is truly happening on scene. I dont see him dodging blind or shooting critical skill that in my eyes is just another bullet. Sometimes he commentate his gameplay and tells what he does and why, but even then I hear it as “I dodged his mixmashwashwoo ability and applied woopiedoopie doo ability” because casual viewers have no idea what those abilities are. As much as I love this game and I wish it becomes good esport, in current state I wouldnt watch it even if they pay me. Its simple, make it more clear and tip to devs. Invite few people who never played GW2 and ask them to watch sPvP. If you tweak game that those people would definatelly watch it again, you got your esport. If they get this bitter taste of confusion then forget about esport.

Yes, I love the class but I dont play it anymore at all. It is bugged class, 25 bleed stack limit on bosses cripples your damage as condi. Class have some wierd or useless traits like jagged horror which iv only seen to die without doing any damage or aggro some unwanted mob and so on.
Necro was my 1st class to hit 80, and as much as I loved it and hoped it would improve at max level, nope it remained bad. You are stuck on 1 working build and some other support builds that any other class can do better.
I rolled warrior and its now level 80, I feel that I can play around with different specs and weapons and it actually works! Traits are good, damage/survival is great, control is amazing with 2h hammer and I even kill stuff in PvP :P
Overall, I really want to play my necro but unless its fixed and polished, traits changed ect, in my oppinion it is garbage class.

I dont think ANet insulting our intelligence as you state in topic but I do agree that armor Red/Blue colors should be optional. Nametag color is enough to tell friend from foe.
