Run through the upscaled warrior and watch him crumble when you poke him gently, providing a res bot for all your zerg. I actually killed an upscaled from downed on my engi last night with no one else around, ty for the free bag.
Got to admit, using pistol 3 has never been so much fun- before the confusion bounce would be wiped by condi cleanse in the zerg, now the kill themselves.
I think my favourite so far has been:
#2: The Lure
step 1: find a small zerg
step 2: get comm to stack behind a wall or something (or just let him know the plan)
step 3: run past enemy zerg
step 4: drag the 20 that decided killing you is a much better idea than following the commander that was running to save their keep.
step 5: start jumping up and down just out their reach, goading them on (and bunching them a bit)
step 6: run them around the corner and /laugh as they get wiped (after tagging a few for some loot).
step 7: locate rest of enemy zerg and wipe the remainder now that they are half what they were.
wvw players don’t fall for this, or just say on ts ’I’ll get that one’ and one person persues if the comm can spare them.
PVE’rs chase anything that moves if they think they can 5,10 or 15 to 1 them.
Oh and my personal favourite thing to do at the moment is bait sword warriors and hammer ones by timing dodges so their skills keep missing, or just dragging off a pile of enemies in the wrong direction while our zerg attacks one of the enemy towers.
‘wait it out or transfer’..you missed the option people are taking, which is ‘stuff the queue, skill lags etc I’ll find some other game to play’. Transferring isn’t an option- why should I be forced to leave my guild and/or server just because a bunch of achievement hunters are ruining wvw for the regulars?
Wonder what things will look like when the dust settles and the achievement hunters move on to the next carrot dangled in front of their noses.
How about making Oak and Wurm into Sieges that can move, similar to Golem. But with spesific designed roles.
Like with Oak and Wurm, you have to make them by planting a seed/egg, and gather a different kind of resource to nurture it to spawn them.
They would have special attacks and abilities for certain unique roles.
Oak can be a Powerful CC and Healer siege, with AoE root, and channel healing spell that heals nearby allies. Also can summon trent minions and spawn branches as weapons for allies to use.
Wurm can have powerful damage debuffs, and can avoid attacks by going under ground and smashing enemies when it comes up. Has ranged acid blast that does DoT to enemies and lower their armor. Can also make walls and gates take extra damage from other siege weapons. Also can have a Moth Egg spawn ability that summon flying monsters that can attack enemies on walls and drag them down.
Each of them can require Special Water and Some other unique resource name to make grow the sieges for use.
We don’t need more pve in wvw, we need less.
I do blame the pve’rs. It’s entirely their fault that they ‘heard wvw was a good place to level’ and bring some ress bot fodder toon into the match up, then proceed to ignore the commanders trying to get things done by having an attitude like Verdelet’s- which is a typical selfish pve attitude to have- ‘attack the champ as soon as I get there nevermind others I can see on my map who are still on their way and might not get the kill, as long as I get mine hahahah’.
WvW is about organisation, group builds, proper equipment, and knowing what to do and when – then it is great fun. If you want to roam, then go roam- take a couple of mates with you, and while you’re roaming flip those camps, kill those dollies, etc.
The people who troll the commander for saying stack are usually one of two types- the first to become a res bot, or the one at the back running backwards as soon as the fight starts (who causes others to die, the fight to be lost, but fail to see it that way).
One thing has always puzzled me in wvw- why are people so afraid of pixels? I mean, it’s not like you die when your toon does, why do so many turn tail as soon as they see equal numbers or try and target the front of the enemy’s zerg whilst running backwards?
But I agree, don’t complain about queues, there are plenty of other things to do while you wait :P.
Totally misses the point, which is that the regular wvw players want to wvw, not go chasing after some mindless champ train or running around a ‘maze’ then spending ten minutes killing some random candy cane boss by spamming auto attacks.
Maybe they should force pve’rs to queue for the same amount of time before they get to enter whatever pve map they want to enter- say 3 or 4 hours, and in the meantime they are loaded onto a map where there are two platforms that can hold 100 players each, and where an area will randomly disappear every now and then- and if you fall off, your back to the end of the queue. Maybe then pve’rs will get just how frustrating it is for those that normally wvw to be stuck waiting in limbo.
And ‘other things to do’ surely excludes any activity that requires a squad and an instance, as you might at any time finally get in to wvw, and imagine saying ‘sorry guys BL finally came up sorry gtg’ and you leave them hanging half way through the final boss, or miss the BL call and consign yourself to not getting to play what you wanted to AT ALL that day.
Anet simply dont understard how important is for majority play as guild/play organised. They still thinks about WvW like a place for random and dont understand when full map (equal numbers) on all sides isnt way how it works.
- This queues literaly destroying WvW guilds and server status. This isnt some thoeretical thing for future. Damage is already done. After announce transfers wasnt locked so low tier servers are pretty much empty and high tiers has half day queues overflowed by useless leechers.
- Another WvW destroying things are those League achievments. Whole PvE population now tries enter tiny capacity WvW servers and do that. Ofc they do AP related things like farming kitten hyleks or doing JP instead of fighting. We have 3 hours queue and only 20 ppl with Commander because of that. Many WvW guild are breaking now, leaving server, leaving game because of this. In One patch you pretty much destroy everything we build in past year. Good job Anet.
Maybe that was the cunning plan all along- the guilds complained of having nowhere to go for gvg, and wvw was creating powerful guilds that like to play together to the exclusion of the blessed pve’rs (pugs)- so the solution was to flood wvw with pugs making it unplayable for any organised force, and then to ensure that when the pugs all meet up they experience first hand the total skill freeze and enormous lag that is wvw, so they think ’I’ll do the achievements and then maybe visit wvw occasionally.
They must have seen these problems coming, so one can only assume that it was the plan.
Of course, we will get an overflow ‘activity’ ‘soon’, fixing the queue problem long after the horse has bolted- LW events all have overflows…
The problem is they have failed to provide enough resources to wvw, concentrating on spvp and FoTM and allocating resources to those dieing areas in teh hopes of making an e-sport out of ‘capture the flag/bunker down’ and then ‘balancing’ towards one particular game mode to the detriment of others.
Couldn’t even get in the wvw today on SFR- did daily, spent 30 minutes in the choo choo champ train and had enough waiting.
Maybe ANet did all this deliberately to destroy wvw – the lag, the skill freezes, the long queues, the stupid achievements (WHY are JP’s there, and why are they worth the same as 500 guards?).
Good luck with the fights and match up- but waiting during my leisure time isn’t my idea of fun- first Teq the funless and now this…
Yes, it’s totally wonderful. Really, I enjoyed not getting in for three hours this afternoon (all the time I had, wasted waiting for a queue).
Get, what do you find? Lag so terrible you literally cannot cast anything at all, whilst the staff spammers and warrior wavers spam damage at all and sundry and their regen keeps ticking.
If this is meant to encourage people to want to play wvw it’s failing miserably on any server that used to have a good, organised hardcore of wvw players, as they now cannot get in.
14,673 achievement points, grats.
Quite impressive to finish all the merc camps etc in 3 days. Are you a regular wvw player- and if not, did coming in to wvw make you feel like you would like to play wvw more? (as that seems to be Anet’s intention..or is it to ruin it with server lag, skill lag, huge queues..).
Bump. Would be nice to get a response as this actually costs RL cash, and how about some compensation- it’s happened quite a lot this weekend.
Sunday: huge lag in the borderlands, blobs, queues and disconnects
At times, totally unplayable, completely ruining what could have been a great week.
Some of the problem SFR is now having are as a direct result of the ‘no tags’ and the way they generally treated ‘pugs’, forever demanding people get on ts and then refusing to tag up or telling people to turn their tags off. This leads to a lot of people playing wvw occasionally and not being used to following orders, as previously they were told to leave the map as a guild raid wanted to get on, etc.
Guess what? All those occasional players are now trying to get into wvw to do the achievements, together with all the casuals, and also all the bandwagoners and upscaled warriors, et etc. which completely kills the queues for the wvw regulars.
It’s become a perfect storm, with huge piles of pve’rs, pugs, casuals etc all joining and SFR having little experience of bringing these people into line and teaching them how to play or explaining what builds are useful- not that many pve’rs would change even when you ask them to….
Add in language barriers, bandwagoners and all the other issues and SFR has had a very bad start to the league, not helped by the server lags,d/cs, unplayable maps and JP achievement point hunters.
Anet clearly have a lot to answer for with the server transfer system, putting best match up first, bringing in leagues, adding in achievements all whilst downgrading the servers and not fixing the lag issues we already knew about.
Hopefully something can be done to swing it back around, but I think it’s not going to be easy for the next couple of weeks.
At least on Gandara we’re used to having 30-40 randoms wondering around the maps and generally we’re better at bringing in pugs and making them less useless (or even useful)!
I’d have to agree and disagree at the same time. The smaller ones take about 5 minutes max to do, and as long as players do something else afterwards, no problems. However, if all they do is hop in a world to get that one thing and leave, they’re wasting time for someone else in the queue. They could cram all four together, make it a bit like conquest for people who want to pvp but also like the added benefit of vertical combat and jumping puzzles.
They take 5 minutes to do, if you are able to complete JP’s quickly and IF there is no one there waiting to pull you off, kill you, blah blah. For others, they can take hours and this clogs up the queue even more.
Biggest problem is having the ’easy’points for the JP’s in wvw, which means pve’rs will queue for hours to get in whilst mindlessly champ farming, then take ages to complete the JP due to gankers, etc, all the while blocking up the queues.
For first timers to wvw, this is the worst time ever to join- they experience skill lag, unable to even fire off a skill, and of course instantly downed on their pve builds. Not exactly the sort of experience that leads to them wanting to come back.
The issue is terrible on Gandara, which is in the EU silver league – the worst is d/cing due to the server just after popping a Wexp booster then watching it tick off as you wait to get back to where you were before the d/c. Skill lag makes playing any caster class awful- warriors and guardians and regen builds do fine, spam 1 and everything dies as nothing can even cast a heal.
All of them need to be removed- but then we’ve been saying that since release and the only change so far has been to remove the EB one from counting as a player AFTER they have queued to get in, blocking up the queue, and then finally when they saunder over to the entrance and enter…
Hell make it a separate game with it’s own rewards – they love to give huge rewards for JP completion, make it so you have to earn it with it’s own little league of ‘I can gank best in JP’s’.
Just remove them.
i dont want to help my team mates… I want to make some kills and deal some dmg…
All things short, I want to be that damage dealer! So…. Engineer… Or Necro….
Please, stick to pve. We don’t need any more selfish players in wvw, quite enough people running useless solo ganking builds whilst being in the zerg and then complaining when they get rofl stomped due to the lack of support skills.
If you are running with a zerg you should be looking to get kills but also to maximise your usefulness in the zerg, not just be a leech trying to tag as many players as possible (guardian, necro and warrior all tag better than engi). Group support skills win battles, along with not being a res bot.
If you want to solo roam don’t pick engineer to start with – getting a build that suits you and being able to play it well takes a lot of skill and some practice. If you pick necro accept that if 4 or 5 start chasing you you are going to die.
If you want ‘get out of jail free’ stealthing and the ability to just run off and re set the fights as well as being able to dance around a pile of people, choose thief. Then get a couple of mates to roll thief, throw in a warrior and a ele just in case you meet someone who might be able to kill you so you can bring them back to make you feel better after that annoying engi killed you:-)
It’s not a problem on the shiny new servers that are used for spvp, but the zx spectrums running wvw can’t cope.
Today has been THE worst day in wvw since launch, and the battles were nothing like as big as when sfr, viz and X clash in SM.
The only people then doing damage are, surprise, surprise, the non-casting melee regenning classes, running around spamming their aoe auto attacks, lagging the servers and tagging everything in sight.
Meanwhile casters can’t cast a single spell- at some points even my pistol wasn’t auto attacking, or did so with huge delays.
You need to alter these so that they only tick whilst you are actually in wvw- at the moment I have just wasted half an hour of one waiting for the queue to get into ANY wvw land.
Considering these are cash items you really need to make these work properly, otherwise people are not getting what they paid for.
Well as predicted, long queues, lots of people wondering about (ok, it’s gandara, they are always wondering about). Finally got in to Gandara BL having queued for all of them for a long time, and EB finally popped up after 1am.
AM’s border hopping (how do they manage that at the moment is beyond me) mega zerg came and took some stuff then hopped off to another map.
Some fun small scale fights against the usual contingent of Deso roaming thiefs when i took my shiny new spirit ranger out for a wonder- if only I could run just a little bit faster to catch up when you run away to find some friends!
Then some fun in EB on the engineer.
Sadly without decent night coverage we might be coming third in the gandara match up as our pve lot are out in force at prime time and the rest of the time it’s deserted.
No overflow, prime time tonight on gandara, 3 people there killing a few adds to get the daily ‘attended it’.
It’s a dead zone on most servers- now hopefully Anet will swallow a big pill of ‘we told you so’ and do something about it- for a start fixed spawn times once per hour would be helpful so everyone doesn’t have to hang around for hours on end to do it…
I expect we will see huge queues of pugs trying to get into wvw to complete the achievement panel, ignoring commanders, wondering around in their zerk pve builds, as well as a full compliment of gankers and griefers trying to stop people doing the JP’s.
I find the whole zerker build insults to be really funny. While I appreciate the value of a defensive build in an environment where your skills are lagged and thus unreliable, outside of that situation they are nothing but a crutch for people incapable of proper positioning, incapable of creating an appropriate build, and entirely incapable of group synergy.
Use the gear that best fits your role in a group to maximize your effectiveness while making sure you can live through a fight. That might be PVT, it might be zerker, it might be something in between or entirely different. Do not listen to the sheep.
You defined the main issue within your answer ‘best fits your role in a group’. the problem I was highlighting is that the majority of casual pve’rs outside of dungeons who just zerg train champ farm, etc don’t bring any group utilities to the fight.
If you play in t1 with the ‘pug’ groups there then play down a few tiers in the ‘pug’ groups there, you very quickly realise that all those group buffs/heals/condition removals/wells/water fields/blast fnishers etc that you took for granted people would bring in t1 aren’t brought along by the more casual pve’rs, who generally bring nothing to the party except their glassy ’what’s positioning?’ builds and will be fodder for the rest of us.
I am not going to enjoy the queues- I am going to enjoy the resultant farming (now if only wvw drops were half as good as pve…).
I expect we will see huge queues of pugs trying to get into wvw to complete the achievement panel, ignoring commanders, wondering around in their zerk pve builds, as well as a full compliment of gankers and griefers trying to stop people doing the JP’s.
Wonderful way to start the league- 60 people in JP trying to out-grief each other whilst guilds fail to get anyone on the borderlands due to caps.
Wonder how long the queue will be on Saturday night- probably longer than most people stay ingame.
I know I’m biased, as I hate JP’s with a passion- probably because I’ve always played games with more depth than Mario Bros 1. Even my daughter only played jumping games for a couple months before moving on to something that requires more than the brain of an 8 year old and reflexes to match.
I appreciate that some people enjoy JP’s- in which case I can recommend several other platform games that should keep you happy so there is no need for you to play GW2.
If what I’m reading is correct, JP will once again be filled by gankers and idiots who delight in preventing others from getting through this rubbish in order to fully complete a WVW achievement meta.
Maybe Anet should look at the figures for JP usage in wvw before they brought in this ‘achievement’ and replaced JP with something wvw related like defending towers or one of several other things.
It’s a desperate attempt by Anet to get people back into the JP’s and encouraging the scrubs that enjoy ganking and generally being kittens back into their liar. Sadly it will work.
I’ll be that toon that you see swearing a lot as I fall off for the hundredth time, or manage to almost reach the top before a mesmer pulls me off, or a group of 5 thiefs gank me, etc..
Probably see the return of the JP train – where the commander takes the entire zerg into the JP to get it finished so we can move on and do some real wvw.
It’s been a fun match up but Gandarians needed their beauty sleep this week so there is no coverage basically between 11pm and 2-3pm. We need a lot of sleep!
Not quite sure what utility I would switch out for something so situational (nor do i run zerker engi, or know anyone in wvw who does for long),
Sounds like fun, but the recharge fire rate is very slow and turrets die in seconds to any aoe, ac, etc etc then you have a utility slot wasted. Also very hard to use against any moving targets.
I think overall this is a good thing- there are positives (I can now buff my team) and negatives (the most obvious being if I’m a ranged class I don’t want to be running next to the warriors in the middle of the battle when the shouts come off cooldown).
The other problem is sometimes the persons nearest you might actually really need the shout/buff/cleanse that will now be applied to your 100% healthy teammate who just happens to be in range.
Of course if we’re all playing warrior/guardian/necro then it won’t matter as we’ll all be in one big blob in a ball anyway so your team mates will be right next to you.
More power to the blob!
Rangers are fine in pve, spvp and boss encounters- not great, but adequate.
The real problems are in wvw, hence why after more than a year basically none of the issues have been addressed.
Pets die before they ever reach their target in zerg fights, both your pets will be on cooldown, spirits will be gone and if you think of leaping into that melee train or barraging it forget it, retaliation will wipe you out.
They are viable in small fights and for camp capping, but terrible attacking or defending structures as most of your pets take no part in those fights at all.
There have been numerous suggestions as to how these problems could be solved but until now nothing has been done and rangers remain the unloved class in wvw.
When the game first came out, you could get almost 15 levels through crafting one craft to 400- it’s been nerfed more and more.
I recently tried it out. From level 5, maxed out all of them (including the ones to 500) and was still left well short of 80. I think currently one 400 will net you around 7 or 8 levels.
You appear to have missed the point of my post. I’m a WvW player and I don’t go into the JP to play a jumping game, I go in there to kill other players while they’re trying to play a jumping game. That is the whole point of a JP in a PvP zone, and there are none of those outside of WvW. Achievements for doing it will supply those players.
You can finish the meta without doing any of the JP achievements so nobody is forcing you.
Fighting in the JP achieves nothing for your server, contributing nothing to the overall fight, and are just an opportunity for thiefs and mesmers to gank players from above, preventing others from getting their achievements.
But I guess that sort of cheap shot/cheap thrills appeals to the same people who were abusing chaos storm last night….
And, I am not telling others how to play, I’m pointing out that JP’s have no place in wvw and should not be included in the ‘WVW’ meta achievement.
The reason they don’t remove them entirely from wvw is that if they did and kept them as pvp areas they would be completely dead zones apart from one multi screen/account playing player watching the screen waiting for someone to come along so they can gank him and make themselves feel proud that they can ruin someone else’s attempt at completing a Jump Puzzle.
Amazing no one in this forum has noticed this yet- or if they have they aren’t pointing it out to the devs.
Take a trip over to the wvw section and you’ll see what the issue is: warrior sword 1 now gives permanent immobilise when leg specialist is traited. That’s multiple targets completely locked down permanently. They removed the ICD…
The only thing that needs changing is the last chain of the 1h sword that roots you in place. If devs think that their dmg is too much and need a handicap (rooting), then that’s false.
Other than that, stop pewpewpewing from afar and the perception of ranger will drastically change from “oh boy we got a rangenoob here” to “welcome my fellow player!”
Sadly there are much better classes to be playing if you want to play melee, that do much better damage and have much better group support, rather than gimmicky ranger builds.
Want to play ranged class- there are warriors and thiefs that do much better damage than rangers and have better survival.
Rangers in wvw are a mess. For pve, they are fine, but for most pve you can complete it naked so that’s not really a comparison. In wvw the glaring flaws are fully exposed.
You might consider posting it in the wvw section, as a lot of players will have logged off for the night and it would be good for them to see when they log in tomorrow that it has been fixed.
Good job on the fix. (I assume it’s fixed, won’t be able to test myself until tomorrow),
Wvw players don’t go to wvw to play a jumping game- I stopped playing those when I was about 8 years old (ankitten ow too old to have the required co ordination to make good jumps).
It’s just a bald faced attempt to get people to use an area of the game that they generally have no interest in doing, ie coercing people to do things they would rather not be doing as it’s not their idea of fun.
Plenty of jump puzzles exist outside of wvw, if you like that sort of thing.
As it stands, it’s pretty much a waste of space in the vast majority of servers.
That’s bad game design.
Posting this in this forum as it seems to be the only place devs actually read and respond to threads.
Take a stroll over to the wvw section and read all about the new mesmer ‘skill’.
Mods- please don’t move this thread until we actually see someone take some notice of this game killing bug/exploit that has totally ruined wvw since the patch, thanks.
You need to post reports in the bug section and using the support button ingame.
No one reads this section- try posting it in spvp section instead.
Loads of them jumping off Durios in EB from Desolation- I’m fairly sure there must have been some Gandarians doing it somewhere else, but these are just the ones I saw.
However, it’s not their fault Anet screwed up and they feel they should exploit an obviously broken mechanic to gain an unfair advantage…..
For the love of god, remove the FOUR JP achievements from the upcoming wvw league achievements.
JP’s have NOTHING to do with wvw.
How about putting in some defence orientated ones instead like ‘killed 10 attackers whilst defending’, ‘tried to save dolyak from perma stealthing thiefs’, anything really.
I (and I’m sure the majority of wvw players are the same) go into wvw to play wvw, not to play Jump Wars 2.
Pet Survivability: While it’s great this patch is improving pet health by nearly 72%, a pet engaged in WvW lasts on average about 8 seconds. And that’s doing nothing with the pet but having it sit next to you, on passive, unengaged and waiting to use a Howl to fear someone off me. A 72% increase on this is only 14 seconds. Not even enough time to use a second F2 ability. On the plus side, and in a strictly roaming capacity, it actually has helped with things like Protect Me and using the pet overall. But the failing of this class is group engagement, not dueling and roaming.
Solution: The easiest solution to this problem is to simply provide Aegis for the pet whenever the Ranger uses a dodge or a skill that also evades. There should be an internal cooldown of 4 seconds placed on this so a Ranger with #1 set to autocast on Greatsword will only get an aegis every other rotation.
Pet Responsiveness: This has been an issue brought up pretty much nonstop since the game has come out. It has had absolutely 0 improvements in a year. We’ve occasionally heard Dev’s comment ‘they’d like to improve it’ and yet here we are, a class mechanic that can’t even be said to work 50% of the time even if the pet were alive.
Solution: F2 abilities need to fire off instantly. If this means to stop attacking and interrupt any other active ability the pet is currently using, so be it. But F2 abilities need to activate the moment F2 is pressed. Not 2 seconds later, not 5 seconds later. This doesn’t mean they should be instant however. They should still have kitten cast time to ensure some level of balance is maintained.
Burst: With the addition of Remorseless I was starting to think the class would start to get some burst options now. Unfortunately, nothing has come of it. The only reasonable use of the Remorseless trait is to stealth and then Maul someone. Just like the only reasonable option for Moment of Clarity is the typical Swoop+Hilt+Maul combo. The reason for this is because Maul is really the only heavy hitting skill this class has.
Solution: Remove Spike Trap. Make Barrage a skill. Barrage will now immobilize all targets on the first wave and also apply bleeding for each wave of arrows. It is now effectively a ranged Spike trap that does more damage and doesn’t need 30pts to work. Replace Barrage with an Aimed Shot on the longbow.
Even easier solution to pet survivability would be to remove the cooldown when both your pets are dead (typically 15 seconds after a zerg fight starts if you are really lucky your pet did 500 damage before it died).
Even better, design it so when both your pets are dead you can actually recover that missing damage by having your own damage increased.
Tired of being completely kitten by the broken pet mechanic for so many aspects of wvw, apart from solo/small party roaming (oh wait, tat’s a bit like spvp, no wonder that bit works fine).
I’m pretty sure not a single dev plays ranger, or if they do they only pve and spvp static targets.
Thanks for the tiny buffs to the pet’s f2 skills- which are completely useless in any fluid situation where your target is moving, or you are.
In case the devs don’t know, casting the f2 skill roots your pet to the spot in many cases- making them COMPLETELY USELESS if you or your target are moving (read any pvp and certainly all wvw encounters).
We don’t need little tinkers to the skills the pet uses- we need you to remove the 1.5 to 2.5 second rooted to the spot F2 casting time.
Try this- grab your pet that supposedly immobilises f2 skill. Now try and land it on anything that moves at all. Total fail, skill now on cool down, and your pet is now 1000 distance away from being at all useful.
Until the devs realise how useless these pet skills are with casting times it’s pointless even trying to make a build around them.
Short summary of the replies:
It’s useless. It’s like a dev’s bad joke on rangers.
Almost all the changes are a huge boost for zergs, and melee classes in particular (with eles getting some nice support boosts too) with all the increases in condition removal.
It was already bad against melee trains with conditions barely even lasting one tick, now it will just be worse.
Will probably just give up trying to fight the tide and play on my guardian or warrior- light and medium classes just get a bad deal.
I made one ascended weapon- but really can’t be bothered spending the time and resources and standing at the crafting person again to make any more. It’s just not fun for me.
The other thing that put me off is the time gating, and then the realisation that I could spend the next six months purely farming mats to make just weapons for all my alts – and that’s before armor even comes out, at which point I’d be stuffed completely.
Then of course they effectively removed one dragon from the game for most of us, removing a good source of dragonite and drops.
They shouldn’t have bothered with character slots at all- just pick one character at the start of the game and that’s your lot, as the chances of you gearing up more than one are now remote.
Ascended weapons (and soon armor no doubt, to add to ascended trinkets etc) being non-tradeable is a huge turn off for making viable alts, especially for wvw (where they char bound ranks as well, the most alt-unfriendly idea ever).
It’s a very different game now than when they first brought it out with much promises.
Can’t wait for the new content when they decide that it can only be completed in ascended gears as they design it around that, and anyone who plays more than one tanky class can wave goodbye to keeping up or even getting into that content.
It’s all heading in the wrong direction, fast.
Watching EXG run around is like watching one of those shuffle ball games – the one where he places a ball under 3 cups and then you get to guess where it is, they exploit stealth so much- but we still have great fights and thanks for all the fun, it always makes me laugh watching you guys do your dance in your party.
Some great fun tonight on my necro, engi and finally guardian. keep up the fun for the week please!
The drops are generally rubbish- no where else do i get so many thorns/spikes/general trash as when I play wvw.
In lower population servers it’s even worse, as the opportunity to kill other players in large scale battles doesn’t happen and levelling up in ranks is a slow, painful process.
They said they were going to address it- by far the easiest way would be to give a decent reward every hard earned rank up.
But seeing as they still haven’t made ANY effort to change the stupidly high achievement categories a year into the game, don’t expect any love from the one part time dev that works on wvw.
I play in EU, and get skill lag every time I get near Viziblob. It’s caused by the number of aoe spamming auto attacking guardian staffers and warriors who spam that button as they approach making the game decide that your skills aren’t important, it’s much more important to calculate all the aoe spurting out of that guardian’s auto attack than it is to check whether you have pressed anything.
Changing staff 1 skill to be single target in wvw would probably fix all the lag issues (as well as making it possible for guardians to learn what those other skills they have actually do lol).
I just wish they would stop with all this account bound rubbish, and make ascended stuff tradeable on the TP….and remove the stupid time gating on crafting, it serves absolutely NO useful purpose other than to stick two fingers up at the playerbase.
Ascended gear should be available from multiple sources – dungeons, temples (although karma is now so nerfed that trying to gather it for ONE piece of armor takes forever if you’re playing wvw and even in a champ train it onyl trickles in), epic quest chains that can be done solo (but scale so if you want group fun, then take a group of 5), even fractals (if you really must include it…). Even random mob/person kills should have a chance at a drop.
If it’s a complete grind then alts become unviable or just way too tedious to gear up to be competitive – after gathering everything I needed for ONE ascended weapon I pretty much took one look at all that effort and thought: 20+ more times? nah, forget it, I’ll just hang on until some other game grabs my attention.
Multiply that by the number of level 80 exotic geared alts I have that I use in wvw (although ranks has cut this down already to 3 or 4 mains) that I will have to craft armor for and it all feels more like a job than a game.
And there really should be some way of achieving a legendary weapon other than the current grind fest, which makes a nice story and rewards you the weapon of your choice at the end of it – sort of like finishing the personal story questline but with a series of quests added on, solving problems around the world so that you become ‘famous’ and eventually are rewarded a legendary at the end of it (account bound- yes, this would make sense to be account bound).
We have decided to award ‘XXXXxxxx of the day’ award to Dark Jim of Mad Clowns, for deliberately taking our omega golem out from spawn point and destroying it, despite repeated requests to return it. The second one today. Deliberate sabotage.
GG, your name and guild name is mud on Gandara, i hope you’re proud.
I really wish Anet could do something about players like this- maybe by having some ingame presence or a ‘call GM’ button.
The change they really need to make in wvw is to remove the ability to build a treb within any structure- preferably remove them entirely, and replace them with cannon that cannot enter structures or be built inside structures, but can be towed by 5 players and have a range 500 more than anything else (so you can plant them and defend them).
