Increasing the amount of Wexp you get doesn’t help alts, it means they will be even further behind in ranks.

Already enough things to buy for people with alts with badges- having to use them to buy ranks would just mean people without alts can increase the difference between their toon and my 8 even more.

Every idea they have come up with so far is anti-alt, including time gated account bound materials for ascended weapons and armors.

So here’s what currently happens- pre event starts, 5 people start killing shards, get that done, maybe 15 people now milling around, whilst 40+ are in the champ train ignoring pre event completely.

Then about 25 or so are present breaking down the barriers and damaging Jormag down to less than 50% health so that he gets shot down for the final bit…

At which point the champ farming train magically appears, helps to kill the last few percent, grabs their full reward and chugs off back on their circuit.

My suggestion is simple: scale the rewards so that actually doing the pre event and first half of the event give decent rewards and better chances at exotics, ascended weapons and rewards additional dragonite. The late comers can still get their rewards but no bonus chest. If you did not take part in the killing at the first stage of the dragon then you don’t deserve and shouldn’t receive the full rewards or the same rewards as those that got the event to that stage.

So if you focus on the champs which are killing people, and don’t damage any of that 25%, you get nothing for that 25%?

Wonder how that will turn out..champs running amok with everyone hell bent on making sure they get enough damage on dragon to get the reward.

If the champs drop nothing, most people will just kite them to ensure they aren’t being hit by one and then focus on the dragon.

Going to be fun to see how the message thing works out-mash that portal key and pray you’re not in the 3rd or 4th or 5th overflow map with 10 people as it took you 4 seconds to load in.

At least without pre event the champ farmers might actually come and help- unlike Jormag at present where the train will let 15 people do the first half and all the pre event and then just turn up for his final landing and get the same rewards as those that actually did the whole event.

If it wasn’t for queues whenever you want to swop toons whenever this terrible lag happens I’d switch to my staff spammer guardian for these fights- don’t need the heal button as regen takes care of that and I can still use an aoe and run around killing all the soft targets who can’t use any of their decent damage skills and can’t use thier heal buttons…

ANet needs to invest in some much better servers for wvw – maybe ditch the left over Pentium 2’s they are currently running it on and buy something a little more up to date?

Processing power really should NOT be an issue, unless you really just don’t care.

‘When I play my guardian and spam 1, I hit multiple targets and have no problem with retaliation, therefore retaliation is not an issue, and ranged classes need to l2p.’ This completely ignore the regen you have, and that you receive from every wave of that staff.

‘When I play my ranged classes, firing any skill into the hammer/staff spamming melee zerg ball can instantly bring me near death with them being 1200-1500 range away, making them the best ranged class there is- take no damage (or one hit each, easily covered by regen/heals) and kill all the ranged aoe.’

That’s basically the responses here so far, apart from those sensible ones who think that retal should have a maximum proc of one time per second per person.

Personally I decided to ‘main’ an engineer before perp runes came out because the variety of builds and playstyles is great.

When I start to get tired I can jump on my guardian, spam an aoe tagging everything without any fear of retal (my regen deals with it/I get healed by everything around me/my staff attacks heal everyone) and run around in a ball stampeding over those medium and light armored people who thought that skill should outweigh staff 1. And then I can come on forums and tell people who complain about retal to l2p…..

Here’s what will really happen.

As the other spawning mobs drop nothing, no one will bother with that bit of content- you will see the same as what happens now, a lot of people standing around while a few do the pre events.

Then when the dragon spawns 100 people suddenly appear at the spawn point as people log in to their toon that is parked at the spawn spot.

If the final 25% is where the rewards are at, that’s when these toons will start helping.

Unless it’s all over in less than 15 minutes and the rewards are quite amazing, after a few goes the champ train farmers will just not bother and go back to champ farming. Then the spawn will be like karka queen which rarely if ever gets done as it’s ‘too hard’, for which read ‘I can no longer press my auto attack button’.

Going to be interesting to see how it pans out after the initial rush, and how much complaining happens when you are booted to an overflow map with only 40 people and that turns out to be an auto fail, or how low population servers cope, or what things are like not in prime time.

Ascended and Alts.

As multiple alt user (all in full exotics, which at least you can trade for) the biggest issue I have is the non-tradeable and time gating aspect of it all.

If the crafting materials were tradable I wouldn’t have a problem with ascended weapons.

As it is, I now have to spend yet more time standing in LA levelling up crafts I never wanted and spending a large sum of either gold to buy the mats needed or mindless farming to get the mats to get to 500, then yet more time gating and that’s one weapon.

Then I get to repeat the mindless grind 40+ times if I want to equip my alts with even one of their weapon sets, and that’s before ascended gear comes in.

Good to hear that as usual fractals (don’t you die of boredom repeating the same actions 400 times?) gives great amounts, standing at the side of a dragon gives 20-30 dragonite (I went and made coffee at the last one, got the reward from auto attack to first interupt), but actually playing out in the maps or killing players rewards nothing.

So basically, if you mash 1 you win, if you want to do something challenging you lose.

And no, people with multiple alts don’t want free stuff- you get that from scarlet 30+ champ boxes, dragon 30 dragonite, etc. They just want a system that enables them to equip their toons in a reasonable timescale.

Personally I’ve already given up on getting ascended stuff any time soon, and will just carry on playing the way I want to until the difference becomes too noticable in terms of survivability, at which point hopefully something better will have come out.

Actually, Bloodstone Dust was overly abundant for the farmers who saved up Champ bags go open after the update. To those players who didn’t do that, the current loot amount sorta gives them a chance to catch up to the rest of us. But even then, I would agree that the B Dust is quite common.

As for hardcore players who quit due to gates, that can’t be helped. There will always be the player who wants everything fast, so artificial walls would make them mad. But there’s a flip side to that. I’ll use myself as an example.

Before GW2, and before I was married, I was more of a hardcore gamer in GW1. I pretty much raced to get my GWAMM title, and then 50/50 HoM. I finished all the content of the core game and expansions quickly. At that point, I basically had nothing left to do. I would HoH or run Dhuum runs over and over with my guild. Got mini Dhuum, got the Dhuum Scythe, had more ectos than I knew what to do with. There was nothing left for me, and that’s because I did everything too fast. Then I left the game for a couple of years, only logging in to talk to the guild from time to time.

Gates prevent this from happening. Hardcore gamers who run out of things to do will get bored. If you provide them with something to do, and that something need to take 2 weeks to complete, it forces them to stretch out them gaming. In this sense, gates actually help hardcore gamers.

You missed the real point of gw1 entirely in your post- which was the fantastic pvp environment..

Time gating this stuff is the worst decision ever. Making the materials account bound is also annoying.

Think about people with alts, all nicely fitted out in exotics with one or two ascended bits (time gated by laurels, so not that many, will take another ten years to make all of them for all toons), who now get this crazy time gated rubbish they have to chase- not just once (like the players who only play one toon) but 10 times, 20 times, 30 times, depending on the amount of weapons each toon uses.

Can’t wait for ascended armor to come out, no doubt with yet more time gating.

Anet obviously want everyone to just play one class (character bound wvw..obviously these people never play the game)…

2nd? It’s behind living story as well as spvp, and probably behind almost everything else too.

wvw gets as much attention as the janitor in a company of 10,000 people- occasionally he is allowed to speak at staff meetings, but no one really pays him much attention and any suggestions he makes are ignored or ‘might be implemented in 2014’.

I have actually done some pve this week. Stand around watching timers. Wait for spawn in temples. As soon as mob spawns, 100 people suddenly appear (nothing like parking alts at each location..), mob melts to ‘press 1’ in seconds, collect 20-30 dragonite, and one or two rares and some cakitten’s terminally boring.

I’ve also done some wvw. Mainly on Gandara, which this week got matched against Riverside (read blob) and Desolation. In the many hours I played today, we managed to flip one Hills, no other keep, and earned a grand total of less than 10 Dragonite, 16 or so emp (I missed most of the camp flips- by the time I reached them we were capping and you don’t get them for capping, only for hitting on the ‘champ’, another broken idea).

The disparity between pve and wvw rewards is just getting out of control, and is aptly illustrated by 20 people logging out of wvw when a scarlet invasion starts.

Who wouldn’t when a scarlet invasion will bag you at least 20 champ chests, a full 100+ drops, a couple of gold and all you have to do is tag everything in sight…..

Here’s a summary of the answers so far:

From the hammer wielders and press 1 autoattacking guardians, they see no problem with retal as they run around in a ball and have their own regeneration and healing going on so don’t really notice it, while tagging everything in sight with a weapon that does aoe damage and causes heals to trigger on the rest of their ball.

From anyone trying to damage the press 1 spammers by actually using skills as intended, retal is the most broken mechanic in the game.

It’s VERY easily fixed- no one should be able to receive more than one proc of retal per second. It will still do damage, but will enable medium and light armor players the chance to play their toons.

Will they take a blind bit of notice and do anything about it (it doesn’t effect spvp, so the answer is blindingly obvious- no).

But a bunch of key mashing melee trainers with perma retaliation is ok?

You don’t really notice it if you play warrior, guardian or necro, as they regen hp/don’t get affected by it much, but try playing ranger or engineer and you will discover the delights of killing yourself BEFORE the melee train even reaches you, at which point they tap you on the shoulder and you fall over. Confusion isn’t much of an issue here- you already kill yourself if you attack, confusion just makes it even more suicidal.

It’s almost as if ANet just wants us to all ball up and run guardian staff and warrior stun trains…

I haven’t really had much problem with it- my biggest problem at the moment is mesmers spitting out phantasms like there is no tomorrow and doing huge damage with their skills whilst keeping up with my perma speedy toon then wiping me while taking very little damage themselves, etc. It’s taking me a while to adjust.

The bigger problems for me are warriors, who can spam it on you like there is no tomorrow, perma stun, and staff waving guardians in zergs.

For solo play it’s time some people here learned what non-thiefs learned a long time ago- if you are not built for solo play, or if you run into certain builds, then it’s time to run away. You can’t build a build that will beat everything all the time – especially when most fights aren’t scheduled so half the time you will have the wrong weapon set on to beat that other player’s build.

The problem is loot gating. Anet have fallen into the classic MMO trap of only making certain drops available from certain things- like exotic boxes from champs. Then they have compounded their error by making items account bound that are needed to craft weapons, and added a mindless grind to reach 500 in 3 professions to be able to make said weapons.

Champs should scale based on the number of people in the area, or better yet give them better aoe effects that scale and defence that scales. At the moment the frostgorge champ train is a joke- if you are 5 seconds behind the front of the train you miss the champ it died already. It’s the same with Scarlet invasion champs- when there are 50 people on one champ it just melts in seconds.

Any mob (or person, in wvw) should have a chance to drop a box, and all the ascended mats need to be tradeable.

Champ drops need a rethink and champs need a redesign, and a RNG added to respawn times so they pop up randomly rather than allowing trains to chug mindlessly around the map.

Or go the other way and just make champs respawn as soon as they die, and the farm train can save the bother of moving around the map at all- choose a champ site, set up camp there and farm away until you utterly die of boredom.

Played wvw every day since this new stuff came out, current total Drag it out ore 53.

Remind me how many I need for even one weapon?

Didn’t capture a single keep or SM in wvw today, so a total of 0 drag ores. They don’t drop from camps or towers. If there isn’t a lot of action or one server is dominating and it isn’t yours, then the chances of getting even one keep during 2-3 hours of game time is pretty slim.

Have passed 1000 of the other material and almost 200 of the other, but drag it out is going to be a real pain.

Why they had to go and make this so alt-unfriendly by making all the drops account bound is beyond me- but then as they think wvw ranks should be character bound I shouldn’t really have been at all surprised.

At the current rate it will take well over a month (or two) to craft one weapon, need 3 for my engi, 4 for my ranger and 3 for my necro as an absolute minimum (although usually I run alternative builds too). That’s 10-20 months just for the main three, and only if I can face running around kissing nodes for the rest of my life.

How will non-WvW servers get compensated?

OP- just think of the relative rewards between pve and wvw for a second. One scarlet invasion will yield you easily 30 chests (and that’s if you take it easy). Chances of being denied that chest: zero.

Compare that to wvw where you might fight over a tower for an hour, and finally after all that effort you miss the lord by one second and don’t get a chest.

The rewards for winning the league won’t be great- if they are too good then Vizi on EU will get completely swamped with transfers and the regular wvw’rs won’t have a chance to log in when queues hit 3-4 hours.

Just disable guardians staff 1 and warriors autoattack from being able to hit more than one target in wvw and immediately 75% of the calculations would not longer be necessary (and they might learn what it’s like to be another class).

If you are good at positioning and want to cap camps in seconds and also provide good damage against a zerg, then roll a full zerk lb/sb ranger. It’s not easy to play as you end up very squishy, but it can be great fun melting thiefs while they are stealthed (long bow 2, start it before they stealth, it tracks them).

Don’t expect a pet to be much use in wvw in larger battles, against doors, whilst defending- practically 75% of the time in other words, 40% of your damage can’t do any damage. Maybe one day they might remove the stupid cool down when both pets died so you could have a pet out all the time, until then they are more of a nuisance than a help in larger fights, but very useful in camp capping.

Best advice- roll something else if you don’t like the feeling of playing a character with one hand tied behind your back.

dev 2 ‘rangers? who cares, none of us main rangers, as long as the new weapon ups my backstab damage to over 15k on a 1600 toughness player it’s all good’

dev1 ‘but…oh wait, we nerfed rangers to hell already, no one plays ranger. Next item!’

Until they sort out pet survival in larger fights or lose the recharge time when both your pets die within 10 seconds rangers are always going to be kitten.

It’s easy milton, you notice they are all ranked champion? They are champion runners and champion AC users, with the nighttime pvd champion title thrown in.

You have to be sneaky and lure out the zerg, or wait until they pop out from under their AC’s and then pincer movement them so they can’t run- then just collect all the bags.

We found their camp capping team the other day – 15 of them, smallest group of VIZ you will see, 6 of us held them off at a camp until they limped off.

The only people who will take you on in a fight is WIPE, usually with at least two thiefs and a d/d ele, and then mysteriously nothing will show on your combat logs but your downed instantly.

Been a strange week with population changing all the time- the AM golem rush in EB last night was awesome, taking out our keep and then taking SM while we pvd’d our keep back. Of course we then got to flip SM back while AM tried to take deso keep.

Then for some strange reason our comm decides to take the zerg to ‘go have a look’ at that particular lag fest, instead of taking the opportunity to attack some of AM’s stuff or even their keep- although to be fair he did say ’we’ve already lost this match up, let’s go have a look’, so i guess i can see the reasoning…

Been fun running around on my little asuran engineer using my new finisher.

Reviving the Champion Keep Lord

Don’t see what the problem is that you are talking about- if you let an enemy get that close to the downed lord to res it then fair play to them for bringing along a banner in the first place.

There are many skills that block players from getting close- or you could just kill all the enemies so there is no one left to cap, or just focus down all those banner carriers.

Yep, fairly pointless without account bound ranks. As a for instance, my total ranks are over 250 but my highest is 74, and one of my rangers that I used to main before ranks came out is rank 2!

Guys really stop trying to drop down tiers, as an old sfr player I’m bored of these community decisions. We need to play hard like the last week, this so called community just ruins the server. I hope arenanet notices this and takes an action.

Your first ever post on the WvW forums and you insult the community that kept SFR alive despite all the hardships it has come across .

Guilds keep sfr alive, not the community. Community just tells them where to fight or not to fight in order to drop down a tier and get rid of pugs. This kills the sfr, not the pugs. We have to fight hard to stay on top of the ladder. We’ve achieved this with both guilds and pugs. If viz is so strong, then why we’ve defeated them last week ? And why we’re #1 eu now ? We can do it guys, just keep it fair and don’t tell guilds not to fight hard.

‘internal matters’ lols, I love the way that sounds. It’s a game, something people seem to lose sight of every now and then.

Not everyone wants or needs to join a forum- the person who set up another server’s forum stole personal information from several members, so those more cautious might not want to join.

As for ts, some of us can’t join for RL reasons.

At the moment the ‘leet guilds’ (read ‘we can run into another guild in a blob and survive whooo’) discuss ‘pugs’ and people who don’t use TS (ie the 90% of the server’s population who visit wvw on a casual basis or don’t visit at all) as something they got on their shoe- whilst throwing matches or gvging ignoring the rest of the community.

Of course the people on ts and the leaders of the gvging guilds will all pat themselves on the back and tell each other how great they are and how bad the pugs are- then refuse to help train them and ‘tag off’ to discourage new people from joining.

We need gvg arenas badly- if just to prevent 20 people taking up space in a bl that could be taken by people who actually care about the score, rather than who can collect the most bags running into another 20 man blob and spend the rest of the time standing around while the score goes to hell.

I know a lot of people do care about the score and just having fun in their leisure time without the pressures of being in the top guild (been there, organised it, lead the raids (80 man), worn the t-shirt) and they need to be brought into the fold if SFR wants to continue to be a good server to play on- not dissed and treated like second class citizens.

At the moment the plan is to not tag up, tell everyone to get on ts or gfto, and deliberately throw the match to try and get down in the rankings and not have a bunch of ‘bandwaggonning noobs’ joining SFR- at least that what I was told by the leet guilds when they decided this on behalf of the server at the start of the match up when leagues were announced.

Personally I don’t think the plan will work- lot of people will enter wvw, form small teams and then ignore chat and calls to join ts, then when u badge up to try and get things going people will ignore that too, as they weren’t trained to follow the badge.

Fine example of that was earlier in SFR BL, then EB, where a comm that normally gets a good following asked people to join him, and he had 10 people following on a queued EB.

Yes, in an ideal world we would all be on ts and in decent size groups, splitting to take different objectives at the same time, but the multinational nature of our server means that just isn’t going to happen and the sooner the elitists (‘can you leave this BL, we’re trying to do our guild raid’, while 20 of them stand motionless for an hour at the spawn and the entire BL and points are lost ‘more to take back yay more wexp for the raid’) realise you need to start including rather than excluding the better the server will become- and who knows, some of those ‘pugs’ might be able to show you a thing or two.

Interestingly, we still seem to not be doing too badly on points.

Please, please, please ANET realise that there is a large group that would like to GVG, so take a two week pause on your living world production line of mindless bashing npc events and design a few arenas for 10v10, 15v15 and 20v20 GVG (three tiers). Really can’t be that hard to design something a little like the old gw1 gvg maps scaled up a bit…combined with some small prizes for winning and an end of season prize of something suitable too. then make it watchable like gw1 used to have, and there’s your e-sport. And make it a worldwide system, not split into NA and Europe, so there are guilds around to fight at any time of the day or night.

Will it ruin wvw? Not at all, there will still be guild raids, etc and after a temporary dip in wvw attendence there will be no noticable difference.

Ascended drop rate in WvW?

I can’t think of any other game that has gone from ‘we won’t make this a grind fest’ to the complete opposite in a year.

The chances of getting an ascended drop in wvw is an easy question to answer- less likely than winning the lottery when you don’t buy a ticket for it.

Chances of being able to equip more than one toon with ascended gears and trinkets including armor and the multitude of weapons you need to run wvw builds, none.

Time it will take you if you decide to pve the necessary items and spend all day looking for ori nodes then level your crafting ON EACH TOON – years.

Quite amusing that two nodes are in JP, but generally 0 or at most 1 in the entirety of the rest of the BL and EB combined- tells you something of what they think of the relative merits of those two things.

Yes, kingcragus has the right of it- we all need to be forced to stop doing something we want to do and go and do something we don’t, in order to accumulate materials for weapons and other stuff that makes more difference in our game mode than any other../sarcasm.

Champs in pve events are a joke- do one scarlet invasion, you can easily tag 40+ champs in the hour, some of them die before you can even get in range after spawning, 1500 distance away, each one gives the same reward type as when you kill a wvw tower lord. That’s 40 times the chance of receiving something decent.

The other great difference is going to be your magic find %age. In one hour pve event I will get upwards of 200 items including opening all those champ boxes. Playing wvw, unless we are having zerg fests all the time (not often, a lot of time is spent defending or attacking towers etc), some hours the only drops I get are from camp capping if that’s what I’m doing for that hour.

And of course, in Jump Puzzle 2, JP’s reward way more for being portalled to the end than having to fight your way into a keep for hours.

Add in account bound materials, time gating, etc and a lot of people won’t bother and then feel they have been left behind.

Two hours of defending against two servers ganging up on Gandara this evening, total new mats received: 10. At that rate it will take 50 days of wvw to make one weapon (ignoring the other time gated elements, most of which I will forget to do 99% of the time).

This whole update doesn’t encourage playing the game- it’s got more like a job now: log in, complete dailies, do crafting time gated stuff (if have mats) then try to get drops in wvw.

One hour of mindless pve scarlet invasion: 40 or so champ chests, 150 or so other drops, plus 50 bags, plus coins, etc resulting in two exotics and a big increase in magic find %age. Oh, and 3 levels on my nooby guardian spamming staff 1 (I do use shouts etc and other buffs…)

It’s not alt friendly- just roll a guardian or a warrior and spam staff 1 whilst running in a huge ball, then it won’t matter if you run around naked, you will still have tagged everything in range and end up with piles of loot.

For people who actually LIKE variety, this time gating and char bound wvw ranks is a real pain in the kitten.

I can’t stand repeating dungeons, or running fractals endlessly-after a couple of the latest living world lootfests I’m bored senseless. It’s not fun, and games are supposed to be fun if you want to play them long term.

Seems like they all want us to join massive guilds (note the new place to get some of the stuff..) and run only one toon with one set of gear, one weapon.

Going to be interesting to see the first co ordinated borderland flips. We’ll take all yours, you come and take ours. When we’re done, we all swap and retake ours whil you retake yours.

Rinse and repeat.

After a couple of weeks of this, it will stop when people realise the drop rate is about the same as ascended items from rank levelling (ie non-existent, rares are 1 in 20 or so(, whereas pve’rs are guaranteed a rare for turning up at a dragon and going afk hitting it.

Upscaling isn’t really an issue- it really doesn’t take that long to level a toon to 80, especially with the current events, so upscaled people should be encouraged to level up to 80 while the going is good.

There are plenty of things for upscaled toons to do in wvw that can help- just don’t expect to level fast in wvw unless your server is either winning or has a karma train attitude.

Getting a set of exotics from temples shouldn’t take you too long, or do a little event farming at level 80 and earn the money to buy the gears.

Having the ability to swap around between classes and builds within wvw would be a disaster. i can just imagine the commander on ts saying ‘right everyone, roll mesmers, we’re going to attack their keep and chain time warp to melt the t3 gate in 20 seconds while hiding under bubbles’, soon as keep is taken roll out your necros.

The beauty of most of wvw is that you don’t know what you are going to be facing which keeps it fresh, which is the exact opposite of spvp with its’ cookie cutter builds.

I do every pve with a mixture of rare/exotics, I don’t even look at the stats except for condi damage. I manage to play everything. Seriously, what’s the fuss? You can’t play your alt, why?

Try playing serious wvw in that set up and see how long you last- especially if your alt is just wearing rares (as well as being rank 0).

10% might not make much difference beating down entirely predictable NPCs in pve but in wvw small scale fights it’s the difference between winning and losing.

Although I dread to think how much damage a thief will do to squishy builds with these new weapons.

The biggest problem is laurels being used in the process- that’s a completely shut gate as far as multiple alts are concerned.

Anet have clearly worked out that the vast majority of people only ever play one toon and cater exclusively for them.

Totally kitten about this whole ‘update’.

Time gated equipment and now time gated ascended gears/weapons whatever.

wvw ranks not account bound, so you fall behind there too.

RIP alts – almost all of mine don’t even have fractals type stuff (but I do have 2.5m of karma, remind me what i can use this for- most temples are contested 99% of the time), and now we are getting YET MORE time gated (laurels) non-tradeable type stuff.

Add to that the fact that exotic prices will go through the roof (I think i got one drop in wvw the entire time I have played it) and this patch is not looking good.

And in my other dream..if the chances are anything like the current ‘there is a chance of a fractals type drop in wvw chests and rank rewards’ then don’t hold your breath.

Also, note that ascended weapon recipes use laurels, so they will be totally time gated, and once again those that use alts, multiple weapon sets etc will be given short shift.

Let’s all become melee train spam 1 and then we won’t need any variety of weapons, sets, classes, etc and would have some hope of obtaining things.

If FSV want to be our BL hopping camp capping team that would be great- as we seem to lack people that are prepared to do it at prime time (especially in EB, where u might be run over every now and then).

Working on levelling my toons (new account, two at 80- so far, 6 to go), just finished the engineer yesterday and got him kitted out- so if u saw the last man standing after you crush a Gandara pug zerg, flying away on rocket boots, that was me:-)

Much thanks to the person on SFR that gave me the engineer build- wasn’t something I would have considered and having now got all the gears and tried it, I love it!!!

Had fun this week killing people on the uplevelled Engi, got to admire people that see the upscale and then chase you across the map thinking ‘free bag’, then I turn around when you’re on your own and you either end up running or dead:-)

Good match up, but hopefully Gandara can get a bit more organised this week and get a few more people with wvw builds on rather than pve.

Lack of Achievement Points in WvW

Straightforward question- why the complete lack of achievement points in wvw?

Every two weeks pve gets hundreds of new points to chase, while I think my next point in wvw will come after I kill another 3,000 dolyaks!!

The only points I earn in wvw are the 5 or 6 from the daily categories.

There should be a way for wvw’rs to earn points at a reasonable rate, like say every 10 guards points flipped earns 3 points, defend 5 towers 2 points, capture 5 camps, defend stonemist, number of kills, etc etc.

Given you can earn hundreds of points in one two week living story for very little effort against dumb pve mobs, there should be a better system for achievement points in wvw.

Having spent over 4k badges not so long ago re equipping a few toons with different gear set ups I wasn’t too worried as it was reasonably easy to get 100+ badges a night without trying too hard.

Now it’s down to 20 or less. Yeah, sure some people have kept thousands and hoard them rather than do anything useful with them (usually the single toon players), so it looks like another punishment to those playing multiple toons.

Add this to the fact loot seems to have got downgraded in the bags etc, liquid Wexp is a myth (it may as well be, 20 ranks no drop across various toons) and you can earn very little per hour in wvw compared to chasing dumb mobs across an event in some low level map, and it seems like once again wvw is being shafted by pve mechanics.

Nope, didn’t forget about it, know it exists. Used it frequently for Queen’s Pavilion.

I’m not ‘crying’ as you put it, I’m pointing out how badly designed the current overflow system is for events.

I don’t belong to a big guild on Gandara, nor do i wish to, nor should I be forced to just to experience events.

At first it was a minor annoyance being put into an overflow without the ‘living story’ event being active- but this has now happened for the last 5 times I have logged in on the trot.

Anyone else feel this has been tweaked recently (downwards) for those not in a squad?

I seem to be getting the same amount of rubbish loot as always but a huge drop in badges.

Soloing a camp used to give 2 badges, now it’s one or none.

Let’s face it. They have multiple teams developing ‘new content’ for the pve’rs, including events that yield large amounts of gold per hour and next week it’s Jump Puzzle 2’s latest instalment for more skins, unique items, etc.

Meanwhile in wvw we now apparently get ‘liquid wexp’, which seems to be almost as rare as getting a rare item from achieving a rank. If the drop rate in wvw for new materials is as low as these are then forget it, you’ll never make a new set.

But the rich pve’rs will come in to wvw with their fully fitted out ascended gears and adjustable legendary weapons and have better stats than you.

Gaining a rank should grant achievement points- how many can you gain in a day of farming the endless pve events? Now compare that to the TOTAL achievement points you have made playing wvw since launch. That tells you all you need to know about the chances of wvw’rs ever getting the new gears and weapons.

Good to see the idea of small roaming teams/thiefs killing dollies/capping camps has been removed from SFR entirely. Guild groups seem to think this is always someone else’s job and only bother with a camp when they need supplies.

In the end it will be the cumulative difference in the scores, with Viz winning by 20-30k points- they know when they are outnumbered to at least try and flip camps and guards and try and keep supplies from allowing upgrades to keeps and towers until they ready to zerg.

Try to form a camp flipping or dolly killing team in, say, Viz borderland and get no replies, same in other BL and even in EB.

I’m almost tempted to blow the dust off my thief- ok, nothing will tempt me to do that, really.

Best part of this evening was on Gandara where my upscaled noob engineer beat a ‘general’ enemy necro- sometimes I think they buy these titles…

Kudos to SLAY who have proved the old maxim that an organised melee ball of 15-20 can defeat a disorganised non-ts using bunch of back pedalling pugs whose idea of ‘stacking’ is 3 might and maybe aegis, being led by a commander with a death wish, and would rather run to wherever you are attacking rather than force you to get back via your keep to defend your own towers.

There is hope for Gandara though- last night one warrior brought a banner!

We need some basic ‘rudiments of group play’ videos to be compulsory viewing for Gandara.

Seem to have lost roaming thiefs too to keep your supplies low – dollies give pretty decent experience now, so no idea why there isn’t more useful roamers on Gandara.

For me the funniest part of the night was when the 30 man SLAY blob (you had gained some pugs) was attacking Mendons with sup catapults and our comm decides to place a treb in the middle of the bridge- and then to cap it off a finalist for ’world’s worst trebber’ jumps on it and proceeds to fail to hit until you guys come underneath and destroy it. No idea why our comm thought it would be useful, or useful to stay and defend whilst heavily outnumbered (I think he likes you and wants to give you more loot and Wexp), instead of porting out and going off to attack one of your towers.

In the end our numbers dwindled as it got later and people tired of following a comm to certain death. We just don’t seem to have guardians, warriors, stability, eles with water fields necros with wells mesmers with confusion and glamours or any stackers…

Sadly I’m on my noob account (only a level 80 mes, the rest are 30-45)(yes, the mesmer that kept dropping null field on u every time you stopped to stack south of garrison the other day) so don’t have my favourite anti- melee ball necro to hand.

Still, it’s a fun change from my usual server and I am enjoying some of it;-)

condition meta needs to be fixed

I find the opposite to the OP, in that the meta is now all melee trains, water fields, hammers, fields and hugs boon stacks, and there is no way you can even make a dent in the melee train with conditions as they are off as soon as you apply them, and even if they stack up on the melee train all the healing more than covers the conditions.

1v1 I’m not interested in, if you are then go play spvp or something, but most of my builds are OK 1v1 and if you think you are going to down a condition heavy tanky build with some low HP toon that relies on spike damage then you need to adjust your game.
