^^Failed to comprehend post. The OP clearly recognizes the 100% combo finishers. The trait is bad in a way that it drastically reduces your damage output. He isn’t nerfing warriors because he is suggesting that the trait should be integrated into the skill set without the need of a trait while logically moving burning arrows down to take it’s place. Stop posting before you read.
I haven’t noticed a damage difference when running SBs. However, I run a condition build so I don’t do much in the way of raw damage anyway.
I prefer.. “Haha! You ran from Skritt!!” better than anything.
Idea for a sweet minstrel: plays GW2 theme song as you move, and instead of footprints, a trail that resembles a staff with notes on it (that mimics said song).
+1 so much.
Stronger Bowstrings is amazing. It also has a hidden feature in which is makes Dual Shot have a 100% projectile finisher. Stop trying to nerf us.

My Asura Guardian, caught without Aegis
Today and yesterday I’ve had the most peculiar bug wherein I log in and am redirected to the forum home and the “Login” and “Register” button is up at the top rather than my display name, and I’ve had to log in multiple times to get the bug to go away. Anyone else having this issue?
I like my Kudzu as is. It would be nice if it were as noticeable as other legendaries, but the fact that it turns your enemies into plants makes up for it. I hear it’s terrifying.
Ascended gear has 8% higher stats than exotic, not enough to make a difference when only your trinkets and weapons have that 8% higher boost. When you factor in that everyone still has exotic armor, overall your stat boost only becomes 5.2% higher, essentially the difference of using consumables versus an equal opponent who doesn’t use consumables.
Sorry, some off topic question here …
Where does this 41.9% crit chance optimization point come from? I see nothing particularly interesting about the math that determines resulting damage as a function of crit chance and damage for this value of crit chance.
Back in old Team Legacy days we did a lot of universal stat optimizations. The google docs are security locked so I’m unable to send you a link to the exact math behind it, but it’s a trigonometric function that shows optimal stat distributions. The crit chance line is the most defined point where the “benefits” you get from it become linear after 41.9% when seeking a balanced approach. Mind you, everything in those docs is purely mathematically perfect, not realistically perfect. If you want 70% crit chance, be my guest. At that point though, your build won’t be mathematically “perfect”, or balanced, so to speak.
I normally play in team fights with my low-mobility axe warrior, and it’s highly annoying for GS warriors to constantly run away to reset the fight in hopes of getting lucky. That’s not mobility, that’s cowardly. However, the way you describe it sounds legitimate, and I’d do the same for someone using stealth.
Sadface is sad, but understanding.
Here’s Ferrum’s Unicorn Build.
- It’s a condition build. Give it some love and learn it’s ways, and you’ll be invincible.
- It’s very OP considering the survivability and the massive condition stacks.
- 20% uptime of stability, regen, aegis, protection, retaliation and vigor.
- 100% uptime of fury, swiftness and 6-14 stacks of might.
You’re welcome!
Unicorn relevant:
I usually use it as a finisher before someone downs, all while yelling “KARKA ROLL!!!”, busting zergs at the same time. I also shed my skin when I’m supposed to down the first time.
The SAB is a self contained thing in Rata Sum that doesn’t affect anything but itself. It started as a joke and it was massively popular. People loved it. They started a movement to get it to come back.
But it’s essentially an Asuran invention to teach kids how to be adventurers. Its that really so deal breaking to you?
If you never enter the box, it doesn’t exist.
Yet they tie achievements to this thing and give account wide bonuses for said achievements. Leaving those of us that wish to get the account wide boosts either A) having to suck it up and enter even though we hate it or B ) be left behind.
BTW ANET where are the WvW achievements we desperately need??
Some (almost all) of us won’t live long enough to see 250000 kills.Other than the crafting for some professions being increased for ascended, I’ll be sitting this one. It may be popular, but this player would sooner see it as a separate www java game instead of implemented into my MMORPG!
Not everyone enjoyed the Secret of Southsun or the election updates, but we still dealt with it to get those same achievement points.
With this update coming I don’t see how ANet can ignore these threads any longer. We need to know.
They released a statement a few days ago that GW2 now has more concurrent players than it did at launch. If that’s not growth, please explain to me what is. I’d love to tear that opinion to shreds.
Sword is conditions and general utility.
Yes, axes do more direct damage, but that’s what they’re designed to do at the complete expense of said utility. Axes get no block, axes get less mobility, axes get no condition damage, axes get no immobilize.
Greatsword also loses out on some of the general utility that sword has but gains greater mobility than sword, and much greater mobility over the pure damage of the axes.
They all serve their roles and they’re all in a good spot right now.
Also, final thrust hits fine, let them burn their dodges first and then try it. Hits just as often as anything else in melee does, really.
Actually, if you trait 5 into Arms for Precise Strikes, Axe 5 becomes amazing for stacking bleeds if you’re running a DPS/Condi hybrid like I do.
The issue I see here is that you’re trying to go for a balanced build, yet you put too much emphasis on crit chance. The mathematically optimal crit chance is 41.9%, which is when the benefits start becoming linear rather than exponential and you’re better off allocating those stats elsewhere, where they would be more beneficial (like condition damage or toughness, both of which your “hybrid” lacks. Vitality wouldn’t be a great option for this build since you’ve opted for healing power. Allocating the remaining precision into toughness would be your best bet to increasing your effective HP and survivability.
Stop getting downed, problem solved
What an irrational argument. I may not agree with the OP, but being downed is part of experiencing the game. Telling someone they suck because they down is even more unfair. It’s a player decision to sacrifice survivability for high burst. Naturally, high bursts will go down faster.
One thing i know exactly, many ppl want to leave this hame because anet dont want to create some GvG stuff. Like me aswell… its become to be boring, every day running on www w/o some points. Many ppl dont wanna care about server ranking or something else, we wanna just having a fun with exactly purposes like “Guild Rating”. As i started playing the game i thought its GUILD WARS, but it ISNT guild wars, its mostly BLOB or Pug-Wars. I Hope anet will do something that the game justified the name “GUILD wars”
Then leave. It’s uneducated people like you who don’t even know that The Guild Wars was an event in Tyrian history, not the game’s staple, that encourage others to quit the game. We don’t need that attitude.
Interesting link: Into The Pixel 2013 Winners – ArenaNet Teases Something Big
http://www.awesome-robo.com/2013/06/into-pixel-2013-winners-arenanet-teases.htmlNow in it’s tenth year, the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) and The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences (AIAS) just announced this years lineup of winning pieces for their yearly Into The Pixel competition, which honors the best art from professional concept artists in the industry. Featuring a mix of production art and game concepts I was intrigued to find a winning piece among the entries for a completely unannounced title, the above piece from Daniel Dociu, the art director of Arenanet and Guild Wars 2. Titled ‘Crossroads,’ the piece is attached to an unannounced project, featuring an impossibly vertical futuristic city with a distinctly Asian flair.
I posted my theory about it earlier in this thread.
I believe that in the 250 years since the Winds of Change and the Canthan Purge, the Canthans, including the Luxons and Kurzicks, settled their wars and utilizing the technology from the Kaineng Asura Gate they disassembled, exploded into a huge age of technology, secluded from the outside world while the rest of Tyria stayed in the dark ages, so to speak.
WvW.

I’m just glad I got a cross between my favorite Rhino’s Charge from GW1 and the zodiac weapons.
It’s not like you can kill anyone but the merchants. I find it hilarious.
Alright, I’m going to say it.
GvG, get out of my WvW.
I don’t want to see a bunch of people /bowing and /saluting each other in a big blob south of middle supply. Anytime I do see it I want to run in there and disrupt it, but I don’t because I’m not a griefer. You guys enjoy it. I can’t understand where the joy in fighting on ‘even’ terms is, the whole point of WvW is you can roll over singles, or you can get rolled over, and you don’t know when it’s going to happen. That’s the excitement, that’s the joy. Tearing down the mighty walls of a keep, and consuming the pitiful fools clinging to their arrow carts. Or having it done to you, wondering where your allies are as you try to hold that tower against immosible odds for one…more…tick. Perhaps I am just the target audience for the WvW design, but I know I am not the only person who feels this way.
GvG is fun for those who like it, I do not doubt that. I wish there was a place for you all to fight that didn’t interfere with WvW.
But it’s not simply for “fun”. It’s a competitive Arena hosted by players who want to prove that their guild is indeed the best among guilds. Having an even fight is part of that. A lot of players would much rather prove their prowess by beating faces with a hammer than spamming 1 with an arrow cart, and those people include me. I don’t know who else will back me, but I’m sure that they far outweigh those who oppose me in my opinion.
Honestly, warrior hammer will never be as satisfying as Guardian hammer 4. Golfing, anyone?
Axes are about critical damage, and I use dual axes in my burst/Condi hybrid. Moving along…
Complex..LOL…this is the sesame street of mmo’s

Wxp is a terrible indicator of command ability, as that’s best earned by… zerging.
Truth is, no matter what arbitrary criteria we use, there will be problems. A commander can prove themselves… by commanding. There is no other way, and it’s up to each individual to decide to accept this person as a leader or not.
Respect is something no amount of gold can buy and it certainly cannot be determined via any checklist. Every experienced wvw’er knows the commanders that are noteworthy on their server. There are certain commanders that I know are worthy because I’ve fought alongside them and have seen what they can do. I don’t really give a kitten what other people think they deserve it or not.
It’s already fine the way it is. Everyone else can put up or shut up.
Thank you for this. I personally organized Gate of Madness for WvW around launch and, with the help of some volunteer commanders and a loaner Mumble, we were able to bring the server up 4 whole tiers until several guilds left due to incompetent pugs. I still command today, and many of these ideas would leave me in the dust as I’ve only achieved a WvW rank of 76 due to the fact that I DO NOT ZERG. I zerg to level alts. Once I reach 80, however, on those alts I go back to running havoc which I find far more enjoyable than spamming 1 in a mess of zerg. I’ve made it a point among commanders on my server that you don’t earn a tag by buying it. People won’t acknowledge you. You earn your tag by being a successful commander. I’ve let many new commanders join my party and tag up while shadowing me to show them the ropes while the zerg believes that they’re the ones commanding to give them a good start, and I refuse to do this with anyone who won’t give WvW their 100%. If you’re a troll commander, half of the server is already blocking you and you might have 3 pugs follow you at any given time.
For example, last night we had our server’s biggest troll commander tag up and run around getting our pugs killed on RESET NIGHT. As much as I hate this behavior and wish that they never had a tag, I cannot do anything (that’s not against the rules) about it. We made it a point to ignore that commander and went about our business. He ported back to spawn to do what I can only imagine is cry because his troll failed. This is the human factor which controls who is and who isn’t a commander. I can approach any commander on our server on any of my characters and say, “Hey, it’s Ferrum.” and they’ll know exactly who I am because I’ve earned my tag. Putting in precautions to avoid letting people command is silly, and the way commanding is earned shouldn’t be changed. If I’m in LA and I see a commander with their tag up, I ask them to tag down out of courtesy because we on GoM don’t appreciate vanity commanders. I usually get a , “Sorry, forgot to tag down. Thanks!” and we go about our business.
Point is, you have to take care of things yourself. Don’t wait for ANet to solve your problems, because they’re here now and they aren’t something ingrained into the game. The commander system is fine, other than the fact that we may want some more quality of life perks to help us command.
It’s not how you get your tag, it’s how you earn it and what you do with it.
the answer to OP’s question is simply that thief’s skill ceiling is too small wich means even unskilled players can dominate other classes without putting much work wich is why they end up being a disaster when they face skilled players that know how to counter thiefs
I’m pretty positive that you mean “skill floor”, which is indeed low. It’s also low with warriors in PvE. A skill floor is the minimum amount of knowledge about the class required to perform well with it. The skill ceiling is when you as a player can no longer outperform others because you’ve reached a point where the class itself cannot perform past your skill level. I don’t think the latter is a thief issue.
I just wish they’d reimplement the “-useoldlauncher” command line. That would give people who really wanted it back the chance to use it without affecting anyone else.
To anyone complaining about underwater combat: bind your descend key. It will make your life underwater infinitely easier.
This, this, and more this.
Or at least when you complete the achievement, you should get a title. But the border around the name is kittening awesome though, would require the 5 legendary achievement to get it though, because many people have 1 legendary already.
Let me just take a loan out so I can buy gems and afford those 4 other legendaries. Done.
Would you rather be told how to do something or have the satisfaction of figuring it out yourself?
I thought for the longest time that it loses it’s “Christmas morning” effect; however, with the recent two updates that they’ve withheld information from the public (and more importantly, Dulfy, until days after the release) it’s had somewhat of a return with that effect.
Many Quaggans cried that day..
If stealth stomping needs to be nerfed, so does mist form, distortion, stability and teleport stomping. It’s part of the game. There will always be QQers.
He’s trolling. I know it.
Commander tags are something that were out in game TO bring players together in a large force to accomplish tasks. The zerg is part of the game, as already stated by ANet.
About using it for Body Shot, problem is that because of initiative system, we can’t have certain things on weapon skills.
Burning or medium duration CC are among them. Burning is like applying 8 bleeds, so it becomes much better than other condition build ups like P/D 5-1-1
Even if our skills are balanced so if we abuse one, we don’t use others, there are certain things that they can’t allow us to spam. This is why Headshot lasts 0.25 seconds or Pistol Whip roots you for example, this is also why there is a “fake” cooldown on Cluster Bomb where if you press again you shatter it, which can be beneficial, but avoid throwing 5 or 6 blast finishers at the same time at long distance, same for Infiltrator’s Strike being divided in 2 parts (the second part again is benefitial to compensate) so you can’t become glue by spamming a teleport+immob skill, and instead you have either to waste more initiative on returning (which also prevents you from following a running target) or waste for the duration to go.
Burning is something that we may have under utilities in the future (though this one doesn’t seem to fit in Thief’s theme, the guy is some sort of paladdin of light and sun, not a sneaky Thief), but not under weapon skills because of initiative.
Initiative is what makes the Thief special and feel so dynamic, but it’s also the cause of most things we can’t have and this is one of them.
I know how the thief class works, thank you for this lecture. They’d simply have to do what they did with the warrior sword and rearrange things. Make the burning field use 8 initiative so that it’s not spammable. (Besides that, I’m not sure how a fire field without projectiles would be OP at all. You spam it and you have some fire on the ground. Grats. It’s not like people are going to stand in it, because intelligence.
No “Spoiler Alert”?
Game ruined.

Leaf of Kudzu: a gift from a friend in return for standing up for him after he was constantly harassed by people who were jealous of the copious amounts of gold he had via playing the TP early in the game. I was just being a good friend.
If you’re looking for a balanced build, you might want to try going with less crit chance. The mathematically ideal crit chance is 41.9%, so you’re wasting a whole 10% that could be put into something that would benefit your build more, like vitality or healing power.
I’ve been saying since Tuesday that I haven’t seen any “GW2 is dead” threads. I thought someone was trolling. XD
I rerolled my charr in favor of the smallest Asura possible to run with the new Peacemaker mini (identical to confuse people in WvW, they’re nearly the same size despite it being a “mini”) and to reduce the ability for my enemies to identify my telegraphed skills.
Enough complaints about skins, okay? Think about actual content instead.
We refuse! Skins are the most important thing!
Honestly, I think Waypoint upgrades should be replaced with research into one of the Orders. Priory research, for example, could give a single commander while defending a keep or SM the ability to transform into the Balthazar avatar from the personal story, Vigil might be some sort of super weapon, and Whispers might be.. Well, you get the idea.
The Stygian Axe will always be the highest regard to Leetness.
