One is the PvP version which had its damage buffed.
I don’t want clicking on someone’s name to show me a billion little pictures.
There is an unreleased map centered around the corpse of Zhaitan, so I don’t think he’ll be coming back.. Ever. Just watch the manifesto again, or any trailer.
This change will be fantastic for non-stealth S/P thieves.
how? they’d just be unaffected right?
It’s fantastic because we can sit back and laugh at the amount of QQ.
…because Kaineng isn’t GoMinating right now…
Honestly? Stealth is a crutch, plain and simple. Learn to play without it, and that’s where the real skill takes places.
Thanks for the advice. Going to work on my no-stealth backstab thief in order to get some real skills.
Good. You shouldn’t rely on stealth to get you anywhere in the game. No other class does. Even those that have access to stealth have other options for when it’s on CD or they’re in Revealed.
Right over your head. There is no Backstab without stealth. Also, those classes that don’t use stealth are designed around not having stealth.
Mesmer has 3 traits and 4 skills pertaining to stealth; Engie has 1 skill, one trait and one combo; Ranger has 1 skill and 2 traits; and Thief has 5 skills, 2 combos, 14 traits and a class mechanic devoted to stealth.
I realize what he was inferring. Backstab builds can still have minimal stealth, and you should be able to build around not having it 95% of the time. No matter your build, the steal mechanic will always grant you some form of stealth, and it’s on you to learn to not rely on it for survivability, escaping and anything else.
It’s not that I care about Bloodlust, it’s that I don’t feel like missing out on rewards because GoM is getting their kitten handed to them constantly.
One word: Roleplay.

Isolationist policies usually result in the opposite, where the isolated nation is left behind by the rest of the world.
False, actually. The U.S. had an isolationist policy up until World War II when we were forced out of seclusion due to the attack on Pearl Harbor, and was the fastest progressing nation in the world both industrially and artistically. Cantha could be the same way, opened up by the rise of Bubbles who guards the Unending Ocean.
Bad example, the Canthan isolation is more along the lines of the Edo period in Japan.
Even still: look at Cantha 250 years ago, then look at America 250 years ago. The progression from 1763-2013 is amazing, and it shouldn’t be terribly far-fetched to think that a society with the aid of some magic could match or even outmatch the real world’s progression in the last 250 years.
That’s paraphrasing a quote regarding lore by Angel McCoy. Seems my theory of isolationism resulting in mass growth may not be too off after all.
The arrogance.
I think the graphics undermine any meaning that image was trying to convey..
Honestly? Stealth is a crutch, plain and simple. Learn to play without it, and that’s where the real skill takes places.
They’re nerfing builds that don’t use it too though. :x Because people think dodging is OP too. How do we play then when everything is apparently OP?
PvE? ;(

ArenaNet already uses Havok Cloth in their engine.
They’ve already stated that they’d have to take development time out to create a new system for people to sit in chairs properly. Don’t think it’s happening any time soon. :P

Personal opinion: use s/p+s/d so that you can steal retaliation and follow it up with Pistol Whip.
I just miss the healer part of the trinity.
You should reroll a Mantra Mesmer and try mantra heals. You can maintain your entire party in situations they’d normally die, with AoE heals for 4,000 every 3 seconds.
I don’t know if you’ve ever played any tPvP, top tier WvW, or high-end Fractals, but the trinity is pretty obvious, however team comp is much more variable. You still need your DPS, Anchor and support nevertheless. Please talk to us when you’ve been anything but casual.
Thanks!
a race option that (believe it or not) many people actually like.
Well, not really..
I was going to post that same image in response to the quoted post. Its a legit thread as much as Red may disagree. Charr are the least popular race and the OP was asking why that was the case.
For some people there are lore reasons. For some people it has to do with armor and clipping. For others that could overlook those, the animations themselves caused issues.
As far as players go, Charr are just about a dead race. Consider that out of that 13%, X of those are alts made by players that want one of each race, but don’t play or care for it.
I’m a pretty avid Charr Player, and I’m sure I’m not the only one. Heck, I just rerolled my Human Guardian into a Charr Guardian. If they were to do something like redesign the Charr simply for the majority I’m pretty sure I’d honestly stop playing Guild Wars 2.
Anyway, while I am still an avid Charr player there is still one big thing that bugs me and I’m sure is a big reason a lot of people don’t play Charr. Armor clipping.
It’s pretty frustrating to see most of the leggings in this game clip with the Charr tail. What makes it worse? That a lot of the longcoat style leggings are stretched out to accommodate for the tail, and it still clips.
If they fixed tail clipping, I’d be a very happy Charr indeed, and I do think many of the people who don’t play the Charr currently would at least give the Charr a shot.
Contrary to Avid’s statement, I main a charr and have 5 human alts that I never play. I don’t think the average human has 5 charr alts. Just saying.
When you roam with a thief and are yourself not a thief, everyone focuses you because targeting you is much easier than keeping target on the thief.
That’s why you play an anchor and let your thief friend burst them down :P
The issue isn’t the visual models, but all the possible stat combinations that go on the armor. These stats in turn interact with everything else in the game: runes, builds, traits, weapon damage etc.
All the possible stat combinations already exist in exotic form. It’s only a decision on how great the persent increase on stats would be (in the case of weapons it’s a 5% increase).
Also, the stats for weapons were already decided on (and known to us) since november, even if they introduced those weapons only last patch – i am pretty sure that the stats for armor are already determined as well. You seem to think that I have to completely remodel each armor set for each race, but once I’ve got it on Humans I can simply tweak the armor, make it larger or smaller and I’m done.
Huh, i guess that’s where all the charr armor problems come from, then.
That’s exactly why. In a production pipeline you just don’t have time to spend more time on one model than the next, and you use the most played race as your “base model”.
Anyone running a catsassin build will be happy for sure.
Good question.
My hope is not until ESO is released.
But seriously, Ascended armor would be far more work to design than trinkets or weapons, as the stats on armor are fundamental to builds and traits.
So it will all depend on when they started designing the armor. If it was at the time of the November Ascended bombshell, it might be close to being done. But if they completed the other gear first, I would guess January 2014.
Armor doesn’t take a year to model. If I were on a full-time wage, I’d be able to pump out quality armor sets based off of concept art each week, for each race and armor class. Since I’m not though, I take much more time for my clients. See diagram below:
“Pick any two of the following: cheap, fast, high quality.”
Don’t foll yourself, “I could knock out an armor set every week”, lol. Notice that even today’s armor still has clipping issues. If they design a new set, it has to be done for all three armor classes, for at least three body types (asura, charr, human, if we make the ludicrous assumption sylvari are identical to humans and norn are just humans*1.25, which they are cleary not).
I’m an Indy character artist. Most of my models are around 20k triangles each, and I provide 2-6 per week to most employers. Making soft transformations into different body types is the easiest part, and all it takes in a production pipeline is PM_Heatweight and a bit of weight painting touch up. You seem to think that I have to completely remodel each armor set for each race, but once I’ve got it on Humans I can simply tweak the armor, make it larger or smaller and I’m done. The model is already unwrapped, textures painted and I’m done. Like I said, I could do one of each of the 3 armor tiers for each of the five races in a week easily. Am I willing to put in the time for free? No. That was my point.
Good question.

It’s ye olde balance issue.
It’s simple math. Math doesn’t take near as long as constructing the models.
Good question.

With the new “Sic ’Em” coming out, I’d main a Catsassin Ranger. Not only do you have access to a skill that reveals any target in stealth, but you’re extremely tanky, deal decent damage and have pretty solid condition pressure while your cat autoattacks for 2-6k.
Sweet buff to Catsassin builds
Maybe I’ll have to transmute my Kudzu to my ranger for this.
oh gawd i wish i was that rich spamming over 2k dollars on a random game like that. Anet should give you a title for Legendary Supporter of Gem Store.
Haha, unfortunately I was laid off and haven’t been able to buy gems, and I refuse to farm in any way (broke my brain’s farming cortex getting my Kudzu _) and haven’t been able to keep up with my friends who farm 8 hours a day and most likely have over 4k hours logged. I’m not too worried about it, but you’ve got to stay on budget when your income stops and you’re on a reserve.
$2,230, and I haven’t bought a single legendary. I don’t regret a thing.
Hello,-,-,-,-,-,-, WTF!? On what?
8 alts, several gear sets for each, items like Infinite Light and RNG chests, etc.
Stealth traps are hilarious. Just wait until they use basilisk venom, use a stun break then a damage mitigation utility while placing it. They go down fast.
They are hilarious indeed. Especially if they Basalisk venom you while you are placing the trap. You’ll notice your trap is now gone.
Hilarious indeed.
Stability. The solution is kittening great.
And yes, I’ve done it on multiple occasions mid-combat.
$2,230, and I haven’t bought a single legendary. I don’t regret a thing.
I read through most of this and I have to re-state that the Charr can’t jump. Have you ever tried to do a jumping puzzle with a Charr? Its like watching a worm try and go up stairs…
That’s odd. How have I managed to do every jumping puzzle in the game then? Since they can’t jump and all.
Same. I hate the jumping bias of people, and laugh when they complain that my charr made them fall after I’ve completed the whole puzzle, watching them fail time and time again.
My s/p mobility build for my thief is the only thing I’ve used/seen that can catch a GS+s/wh warrior. People think that said warrior has the best mobility, but that specific build for my thief can travel a 9k distance in 6 seconds — 5 seconds faster than said warrior. The culprit? Teleports. Coupled with the stun locking capabilities of the s/p thief, it’s pretty hard for a GS+s/wh warrior to escape, near impossible. I might have to post a video for proof. :P
What people mean to say, is that stats have a function of y=Log ~2~ X until it reaches a linear state of benefit.
I thought you guys were Kaineng for life, especially after the WM/TL/RE/CO fallout. Sad to see you go. Any word on whether Rx is following suit?
I don’t know what its, but it sounds illegal, I just want top sit, curse me if ya want . har har
Data mining is the process of decompiling the game’s files in an attempt to find hidden, future and spoiler content, as well as seeing raw textures and text files.

I haven’t heard anything on this, but what is ANet’s stance on data mining? I can’t really elaborate much more on that question because it’s so blunt, and I haven’t seen an official response on this anywhere.
Hopefully they’ll let the Dungeon Masters and people above Fractals 40 use it first
You are just making tons of gold out of this simply because some people want a 1200 gold worth legendary means 800 gold profit for you
He said that the extra gold would be dispersed back to the populous who didn’t win.
However, I feel that there is a lot of room for exploitation of people in this. It would have to be VERY transparent, involve a LOT of organizers who would be exempt from winning, and would have to be non-profit. Think guild bank.
I just hear birds… All. The kitten . Time. I’ve checked everywhere, under my bed, under my Kudzu, under my charr, but nobody has a bird whistle. Freaky as hell.
Oh freaky, yes, I heard that last night. I don’t know if you ever messed with sound engineering, but it was like a hyper-active 3D effect on a bird whistle. It was so out of place, at first I thought it sounded like it came from down the hall. I have a bose system on a high end sound card, so over-lifelike I about went for some 12g quail load… heh would have been one less risen quail at any rate.
It was a joke. Kudzu makes ambient bird noises constantly.

I’ve spent over $1,000 on the game and gem store, and I’m pretty content with the game as it is. Complaining won’t get me anywhere, and I don’t come up with some mind-blowing solution to x or y problem every day. Nobody does. These are highly controversial issues which people bring up: the equivalent of gay marriage or abortion here in GW2. My money goes to make content, hire new designers and better the game. I’m happy in knowing that, and that’s all that matters. A dev can’t simply say, “Idea!” and have 100% support either. There will always be naysayers who feed on responses from their claims and complaints. The best thing to do is not to ignore them, but read and verify that they aren’t making an attempt at a valid point and move on. ArenaNet Devs are people too. They suffer from the same controversy and affairs that we on the forums go through every day.
Just be kind, and pay it forward. Maybe your ideas will make it into the game someday, but this “I want it now” stuff has to stop for the betterment of the community and the forums. Peace.
The event is centered around Tequatl because he’s the next step in the LS, not because PvE is more important. I don’t think they can force people to play WvW for a story line. :P
Hunch back
Cat
Bulky
Cant jump for shiz (they are feline….. jump puzzles should eb their thing ya?)
Bad armor
Their race sucks.
- They have horns and 4 ears. They aren’t exactly feline. It’s only extremely apparent in the females.
- Cats, if you insist, are good at falling. We do that perfectly well, thank you much.
- Elaborate or your argument is invalid. See attached.
Moving HB to a burst skill is completely the worst idea that I’ve ever seen
It would increase the recharge time on it and scale with Berserker’s Power. I don’t see the issue.
Issue in DPS. This change will make GS useless for PvE.
Hmm… Nerf the OP warrior spec in PvE… Yep, not seeing the issue here. Greatsword has always been overpowered in PvE and has never been a viable choice in the competitive scene. Bursting HB would also solve the issue of blinds during Cleansing Ire.
Not even Dragons seem to have the power to prevent Ghosts from haunting an area where their traumatic deaths may have occurred. …this seems to tie in with the Mists and ‘the Rift’ itself. There’s a chance we might get more answers on it if the Thaumaneuva Reactor actually gets some rich back story to it, but I wouldn’t hold your your breath on that. The Living Story team seems more interested in hawking cash shop items than selling us reasonable explanations and plot.
….Bear in mind that we’re not even Ascended heroes or chosen and we’re definitely not Weh No Su in this new continuation so all the Phantasmal entities we see are manifest through their own means, not ours.
That’s a good point. Kind of makes you wonder what’s the Mursaat up to these days.
Only 3 Mursaat survived the onslaught of the War in Kryta, and it’s unlikely that they reproduce, since they aren’t sentient beings. Chances are they’ve all died off some way or another by now, or all 3 fled to the Isle of Janthir where they originally came from.
What? The Mursaat were/are sentient beings just like any other race. They were one of the original 5 races (alongside Forgotten, Jotun, and others) who fought off the Elder Dragons the last time they appeared. They filled the role of the Asura, as the most intelligent and magically-inclined of the races of their time.
Yeah, what he said threw me off too. I seriously doubt we wiped out all of the Mursaat. Besides, there’s White Mantle even now, in GW2. What’s White Mantle without some scheming Mursaat behind them? We’ll see them again.
The White Mantle in GW2 are only tin-foil hats waiting for their false gods to someday return. Whether that happens is up to ArenaNet.
Where’s Zacchary with his signature? Look up L2P in the search bar.
