It’s all about the Server. On mine I can’t walk a minute on ANY Map without seeing people running around doing stuff. There are a ton of people on my server and I get in a Overflow everytime in Lions Arch, the Pavillion and any Area where a Meta Event happens when I’m not fast enough.
So I got curious, and decided to check a few areas.
I decided to check LA, and the two most common champion farms in CS. I assume you will include 7 pm central as prime time, but who knows. The server is Borlis Pass. Which as I’m testing is listed as “very high”. I’m not sure what very high is, but I can post more screen shots. The only thing we have a queue on is the actual pavilion, which btw had an artificially low number set on it I will let others speculate why.
You are welcome to check the time stamps on the mini map.
edit
I absolutely agree it’s about what server you are on. It’s just that there are only 4 or 5 servers where you can actually see people. Most of the servers are just ghost towns. You can see people in a few maps, or just in the living story area. Otherwise it’s dead.
Congrats! You’ve discovered culling (to be removed on Tuesday)!
120 Laurels, 75 Ectos and a random stack of T6 mats per piece right?
xD about that. ESO :>
It’ll flop. WildStar, ArcheAge and even FFXIV have taken its spotlight.
I love this game and love the dev team who puts all this effort into making it happen. I just think he launch trailer and this new anniversary trailer are kinda meh. Ik it makes effort away from the game it self but nothing gets me hyped like an epic cinematic trailer.
Alternitavely, I hate games that have cinematic trailers like WoW. I feel like the company lies to us and presents this super realistic amazing trailer where things happen, but then you get the game and feel decieved when you finally see the actual graphics firsthand. I like that ArenaNet shows us the actual game and things that actually happen rather than some cinematic with Zhaitan flying out of a crater and destroying the land beneath him only to get in game and find that he’s not so much larger than your pauldrons, stationary in the middle of a road.
Why should we get something special? If someone couldn’t afford to get it right at launch, why should they be punished for that? We already have unique items from the living story that new players aren’t able to get, anyway.
I really hate this mentality that giving something to someone is punishing everyone who doesn’t get that thing.
If its cosmetic, it is not affecting your gameplay in any way.
You seem to completely miss my point. We ALREADY HAVE cosmetic items that people are unable to get, why should we get any more of them now simply for being there back then?
Us GW1 players got things for “being there back then” that don’t affect gameplay in any way. If you think it’s any different, please amuse me.
I like the idea of the trait. Its a little lackluster as a GM trait though. gaining 5 secs of retaliation once every 15 seconds if struck by a critical hit is such a short duration.
Should either be increased to 10 seconds or keep at 5 seconds and add weakness or vulnerability to your attacker every time you’re struck.Should also add 5 seconds of protection.
Dangit, Daecollo! Stop asking for protection on warriors!
it’d be way overkill.
That’s why I run Lyssa runes on my condition tank ;3 20% protection, retal, regen, and every other boon with the amount of boon duration I get from traits.
Honestly, if you’ve gone to max level and played at least 400 hours, I don’t see how you think you didn’t get your money’s worth.
almost every single set of pants for Charr, look exactly alike.
I don’t mean the details, but rather the “Form”. It’s like they made one single “Mesh” for it and then just pasted the Texture for every single Leggins onto that Mesh without changing the Rigging one bit beyond using “Scaling” in all 3 Axis at once.
…& yes these are CG modeling terms…
One of these days I’ll see if I can produce some sketches of what they should have done instead of this “copy past Plantigrade rigging onto Beastly Cat Legs” stuff…
I don’t think you know anything about character art. As someone who’s worked professionally as a character and environment artist I can safely say that not one charr pants mesh is the same model. The textures and normal maps are entirely different and many of the pants have entirely different physics to the cloth. They do, of course, rig them all the same way, but that’s how all character models are. You have your base mesh which is rigged and you bind and paint weights onto the armor on top of said rig. ArenaNet does some extra work by removing unseen polygons to reduce the overall triangle count as well, which also saves internal clipping issues in the character itself. I wouldn’t doubt it if ANet character artists used PM_HeatWeight to rig their armors in time for launch though. It gets any rig 95% percent correct, but often you have to go in and paint the weights for fine details to avoid clipping.
All that snubbery and then you just ended up agreeing with my point about Rigging anyway. …do you even produce multiple wardrobes for non-Human characters??
The Indy games I’ve designed for have been primarily based around beastial or amphibious characters. Characters don’t include playable ones, mind you. As a character artist it’s necessary to create monsters and NPCs who might be quadrupeds, bipeds or even pentipeds or tripeds in some cases. So yes, I’m used to creating multiple wardrobe assets for non-human characters. If every troll or centaur you rig has the same armor bound it’s not going to make all that appealing of a game.

Ash Legion Spy Kits: the greatest invention in Tyria.
Also, the -40% food makes warriors invincible/unkillable in wvw when combined with melandru runes and dogged march as well as knights armor. I don’t think its intended to be able to ignore what your opponents do and just try to smash them into the ground. I’d expect the food to get nerfed a bit, eventually, which would go a long way to fixing this (i.e. its not class-specific)
It’s not the food, it’s ANet’s bad game mechanics. You don’t add percent durations, you multiply them. If it worked properly, the food + runes + march would only be a 70% reduction rather than a 98% reduction, something that could be countered by the appropriate +duration runes/food/traits.
But it can be countered. When traited and with pizza, people can get +70% Condi duration. An immobilize from that lasts almost as long as a normal one when not running -condi duration traits/runes/food.
thief trolls go back to your own forums not Anet’s fault some of us got smart ran toughness instead of zerker gear now go spam blind with perma stealth elsewhere.
I don’t think you clicked the link. Zacchary does these things as a comedy act, and the warrior forum hasn’t been complaining since they started. Either it’s because we’re in a good place or people just laughed and forgot why they were QQing.
I don’t understand why there is still any doubt. It’s been explicitly stated on countless occasions that they don’t plan on releasing any tiers above ascended stats. Ascended was a missing link between exotic and legendary. There won’t be more.
Lol just because Anet have stated they won’t do something doesn’t make it set in stone, They have stated several things that they wouldn’t do since release yet have gone ahead and done them.
I don’t trust Anet one iota.
Tell me, what have they gone and done which they explicitly stated they wouldn’t do? I expect a source, and if you think “the manifesto” is a viable response, I direct you to Vayne’s Manifesto Clarification thread which explains that ArenaNet did exactly what they said they would in the manifesto. You people just take things out of context and contort them to the way you want to play the game.
ascended weapons will probably cost some serious time gating refining with mediocre to rare mats.
a full legendary gear however, will not cost an arm or a leg.. it will only cost a kidney. =D
Huh… I dumped my liver into the MF and got my legendary immediately. Occasionally I experience blood poisoning and internal bleeding, but I’d say it was worth it. /dies.
^ Ascended Armour was nothing we didn’t know about already though, was it? Why are you being so upset?
He likely had hope that they realized how bad decision introducing ascended was, and that they won’t follow through with it to the bitter end.
Just as some people still have hope that ascended really will be the end of item progression.
I don’t understand why there is still any doubt. It’s been explicitly stated on countless occasions that they don’t plan on releasing any tiers above ascended stats. Ascended was a missing link between exotic and legendary. There won’t be more.
“South Korea has a section of its police force that investigates in-game crime.”
Oh gosh, I hope we don’t come to this point…
No wonder there were no trolls when I got my hands on ArcheAge O_O. I had no idea.
Sadly, a lot of people will post in this thread and go on to complain about how much ArenaNet has “failed” somehow in providing them with nearly a year of free content and fun. If the game isn’t fun anymore, take a break. Taking it out on the developers isn’t going to solve your problems and it’s less likely to get any attention at all if you have nothing constructive to say. As someone seeking access as a character designer in the industry, and having worked on Indy games that got little to no attention I’d appreciate, for my own future and that of every game developer, if you all would be a bit more kind. The Internet is a powerful tool, but you shouldn’t forget that it’s not lawless. You can still be issued a court order if harassment goes too far, and I don’t think anyone wants to fly 3,000 miles or more because they said something they might regret and changed someone’s life forever.
League of Legends also has a Meta. Based on what champions are picked in tournaments/most frequently. But also based on how it’s ‘normal’ to go ap mid, ad bot with support, and a bruiser top. That’s meta. A while ago it used to be ad in mid to get more cs.
Yes, their champs are balanced. But the game finds it’s niche of what works and ends up there.- In order to have a metagame the game needs to have depth. League of Legends has that with character roles that work well together. Guild Wars 2, on the other hand, is not a deep game by design. There are no roles and every class is a damage dealer. Some skills don’t have damage numbers (like the Thief’s steal and a number of traits) and things like attack speed or even damage reduction mechanics are not explained to the player. Itemization is very rigid with equipment pieces having pre-determined stats. In the absence of challenging AI monster quantities are increased and bosses are loaded with millions of hit points, all waiting to be brought down in very straight-forward fashion.
You can’t have ‘metagame’ on game like this.
Read my above post. Just because classes aren’t balanced around each other and instead themselves doesn’t mean there can’t be a meta game. That’s why there are “bunker guardians” and “condition warriors” and “control necros” and “HGH engies”. You identify how that person has set up their class and identify the means to counteract it. Have you ever seen a thief in WvW go into stealth while approaching you and thought, “I should evade a few seconds from now or use a damage mitigation utility in order to avoid that backstab”. That’s meta. Thieves like burst, but they also like conditions and control as well. I start every fight by identifying the class, then the weapons they’re using. Having every class leveled to 80 and played all of the popular build for each it’s easy to figure out what build they’re running and how you should manage your skills to fight them. More often than not I’ll use a set attack that I’ve gauged it’s damage, and test the armor and vitality levels of my opponent to determine whether or not they’ll be dealing heavy damage or if I’ll have to keep the pressure up in order to down that bunker. That’s all meta. It’s not class-specific, like WoW or LoL. Just like GW1, classes didnt have set roles. Just because you were a monk didnt mean you were forced to be a healer, and just because you were a warrior didnt mean you were forced to face tank. The roles are blurred in GW2, sure, but they’re still there nonetheless. My mesmer plays a support healer to where I can heal my entire party within a radius of 600 for 7,000 every 3 seconds. It’s great for back lining and team support to keep your entire group up in WvW.
Knows what he’s talking about, former Team Legacy member,
~Ferrum Blacktide.
The meta’s moving away from Condi on its own. Now there’s a stun/fear locking burst meta starting which directly counters the Condi meta. The counter to that is high mobility and evades with high burst damage. It’s called cyclical imbalance, and each meta shift only reveals things that are actually overpowered, which ArenaNet nerfs to increase variety and level the meta so that it can shift rather than remain stagnant. In a few years after numerous metas have evolved and been balanced, true cyclical imbalance can maintain itself in the game. It’s all a matter of counter-play from there, as it was in the later years of GW1.
All this money made and we got nothing in return but more gem store items, awesome.
Yeah.
Except for all the content they’ve released since launch. But wait, you didn’t personally like any of that content so it doesn’t count as content, right?
What content? Where are they at? Oh wait, i know, deleted because they were temporary.
I saw the play Phantom of the Opera. It’s not there anymore. I can’t see it again. Does that mean I didn’t see a play?
Temporary content IS content.
The words of Vayne speak the truth once again.
From a post of data mine from reddit, I saw that they want implement some type of item that break the transmutation into 2, the “skin item” and the “stats item”. Previous items used in transmutations would be lost.
I don’t remember the link though.
I remember the reddit post about that, but I wasn’t sure if they mentioned returning the original item.
I wonder if they can pull off a huge “living story update” that’s just a free expansion with Elona/Cantha in it? That would be amazing. The Christmas morning effect would be tenfold.
Any MMO can be the fastest selling MMO when you pick a random arbitrary point like 9 months.
SWTOR sold 2 million copies in its 1st month and WoW has sold over 100 million copies in 7 years.
What an awful statistic!
SWTOR didn’t sell any copies though. They went F2P quickly after launch and screwed over lot of subscribers. They were never a B2P model either, and I doubt they had over 2 million subscribers in the first month. That’s almost as many as WoW has now. ;3
Here are some of my toons but not all of them
1). Human Guardian based of a Warrior Priest of Sigmar. He wears 2 pieces of Cultural armor, HotW shoulders and leggings, and then some low level boots.
2). Norn Guardian with a mix of the Cultural tier 1 and 2 sets. I rarely make female toons :P
3). Human warrior with 2 sets of armor. His first set is a mixture of the Order armors. His second set is based off an Empire Greatsword is a complete mix up of various low and high level gear.
4). Sylvari Thief wears a mixture of Order armors.
5). Charr Mesmer wears a mixture mid and high level gear.
6). Human Elementalist with 2 sets of armor is based off an Imperial Bright Wizard. His first set is a mixture of Order armors. His second set wear a mixture of Dungeon armors and Whispers leggings.Last pic is my Human Guardian looking awesome at the peak of Mount Maelstrom :P If you can’t tell I’m a Warhammer fan. I’m also working on a Norn Chaos Knight!
I could only wish I had the hair of the last one.. It’s mesmerizingly beautiful @_@
Assume no. Considering they’re going to add an item to the gem store to undo a transmutation, further assume no.
Hopefully it can track an infinite number of transmutes, as my Kudzu’s been transmuted at least 6 times from it’s acquisition.
Oh. My. God. I should have remembered the temple armor "-.- I just sold all of my superior siege today to buy melandru runes for my GS burst set…
Defektive: a question about how your team anazyles itself.
When you look back and reflect on your flaws and triumphs, do you look through hours of recorded footage second-by-second or another method? When Team Legacy was still active we would record from 5 different perspectives on reset night (WvW not PvP, sorry xP. We did nearly the same during our short reign in PvP though, as well.) and slow down each video 6 times slower than it actually was in order to detail the enemy strategies, how to counter them and what to improve upon our own mistakes. I was just wondering if your team uses a similar approach.
Team fights.
Warriors have a lot of cleave, strong CC, and solid burst, all of which can work wonders in small skirmishes. You can peel off allies, burst down opponents, stop people trying to stomp/res, and put out solid AoE damage while doing all of the above.
Most of our abilities work much better in concert with other classes as well. Teammates locking down a target? Go go hundred blades. Rogue looking to set up burst? Mace stun to lock someone down for them. Come in late to a fight, where your opponents are distracted by your teammates? You can turn the fight around quickly with a hammer.
Other classes can support their team, certainly, but not in quite the same way as a warrior can. We make other classes better by fighting alongside them, allowing them to do more of whatever it is they do best… that’s what I’ve seen, at least.
I’m quoting this for the utmost truth. A lot of people gauge the warrior out of 1v1 speculation, however during team fights a warrior’s team will most often win. That’s why my first priority in any havoc group is to focus-target the warrior first. Whether they’re burst or bunker, they’re the sticky glue that holds a team together because of our versitality in being able to adapt to our team mates and increase both their and our own effectiveness, if that makes sense.
If you’re using a very specific burst sword build that does more damage to bleeding foes, go with charr for a 46.5 second bleed. Otherwise, race really doesn’t matter. The racial abilities kind of blow.
We had a black dragon sword in GW1?
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Vampiric_Dragon_Sword
Technically the hilt was dark purple. The fire was dark red.
Dragon Hunter
The dragon hunter is a class who uses his body and emotions to fight.
He can do hard flaming punches, make his skin harder than steel, create crystal formations beneath the earth to rise above, focus his emotions and release a blast of electric storms through his mouth, summon forest vines to catch his enemies and many more things..Dragon Hunters are infused with the power of the dragons, which is the new movement to strike back at the dragons!
Zhaitan is back, he never died when he fell through the mists and mountains, he was only injured and fell asleep. Now 2 years past he has awoken again! it’s time for the Dragon Hunters to strike back!
In a new raid instance, a big battlefield at ground and airships flying above. We need to prepare for war, soldiers are marching with weapons and machines and the last stand of Zhaitan and his army is near. We will be victorious!
That would never work, as Sylvari are immune to dragon corruption.
I’d suggest something along the lines of the Stygian axe as a precursor, but you can’t improve upon perfection!
Under the bridge
thiefs and ele’s for pvp for pve its war
How is it any different? The inherent damage of the classes isn’t changed between PvP and PvE. There’s a difference between burst and DPS. DPS is sustained while burst is sudden spike damage, like backstab or Dragon’s Tooth.
Blossom explosion in
^Lolololol
Seriously though… of all the things to complain about…
Dont’ buy it then, it’d be broken as hell Pay2Win if it was Master-Tier
People have such distorted view of P2W. How would being able to salvage items uninterrupted while still paying a fee rather than carrying around a ton of Master’s kits be considered P2W? I have a bank full of 30 mystic salvage kits and over 100 MF Stones, and guess what? I don’t even have to pay a fee for them. I must be gaining an inherent advantage over everyone else in the game because I’m too lazy to keep buying Master’s kits and bought MF stones to craft a kit that did the same thing with more uses. It’s the same concept.
Alright, the deal should be this: ONE commander at a time will obtain this upgrade when inside of a keep ONLY when said keep/tower is under attack. Just doing that as a basic element would incentivize commanders to defend rather than leave everything paper and continue their zergfest.
Omg, finally this game has become P2Win. Now people can buy gems for real money and convert into gold and make the new portal so they can complete JP’s easier and juke mobs.
I wonder what’s next…
They aren’t useable in jumping puzzles either.
Sarcasm… But they really ain’t? That would be the single reason I would even considering craft one if I was struggling with a JP.
Nope.. That’s why nobody’s using them other than for expensive kittens and giggles.
Warrior is the best dps class from anything I’ve seen. It’s no contest. Feel like this is a troller.
You either don’t understand how Warrior works (probably thinking single hits from 100b are doing 20k+), or you’re just not experienced with the DPS potential of other classes. Both ele’s and thieves can, and will surpass a warrior.
But they’re sacrificing so much in order to do so. A staff or a scepter/dagger ele won’t survive when they aren’t with a zerg/team, and a thief’s damage can only go so far. Once you learn how to counter stealth, you rarely die to a thief.
They’re not sacrificing anything. I assumed anything related to ‘DPS’ would make most sense applied to PvE/Dungeons, since you don’t really care for DPS in PvP formats unless you’re talking about conditions.
When Team Legacy was still around we ran a 20-man team, all full berserker. We ripped through larger groups like it was nothing, so in WvW, you do care about your DPS from a tactical advantage. If your entire team is full DPS and you’re focus-targeting people on the opposite team down quicker than they can hit their heal it really makes for fun and interesting scenarios rather than trying to survive as much damage as possible. When I speak about my class or combat, I’m speaking in WvW terms. PvE/Dungeons really don’t matter, because they’re doable in any composition with any build, regardless of the skill behind the player. PvP and WvW are where these things called “balance” happen.
Maybe I’m totally missing out on the specifics of GvG, however I feel like you’re misinterpreting burst for DPS. You aren’t really focusing on consistently out-putting damage on a target, you’re focusing large bursts on areas, no? Correct me if I’m wrong, but I feel like in PvP/WvW, burst is more prevalent than actual consistent DPS.
That’s very true. In WvW/PvP, burst is something very necessary. In general it’s hard to measure the DPS of burst classes. If we’re talking about constant DPS, I’d had to go with my condition thief who can maintain 25 stacks of bleed an entire fight, dealing 4k condition damage per tick.

The portals aren’t useable in WvW and they’re expensive as hell. Nobody’s going to pay 3g to make a one-time use item unless it’s guaranteed to get them more in return than the initial investment for the portal. ArenaNet knows this and is waiting for people to find something worth said investment.
Bought $100 in gems, converted it to gold and bought 50,000 influence with half of the gold I’d converted… For the wrong guild.
I laughed so hard but felt sorry for you at the same time!
Lesson learned. ANet can’t remove influence from even the most inactive of guilds.

I’ve used Signet of Rage since level 30 odd and NEVER changed it. All the other Elite’s just seem awful in my opinion. I can see use for the banner in WvW but that’s about it.
Luckily the banner can insta-res keep lords and supervisors (and every other NPC) which is the only reason it’s excellent in team fights in WvW.

In a “tank and spank” situation, sure Warrior wins, but in many situations where there are condition heavy mobs, their DPS drops dramatically. Unlike Thieves, Warrior have a limited ways of handling conditions. So if conditions are factored in, a lot of other classes can beat Warrior in DPS, including Thieves.
Sure, 2 months ago. Now we have more condition removal than rangers and engineers combined, and our traited one is on a 6-second cooldown. Run Lyssa runes with Cleansing Ire, Signet of Stamina and “Shake It Off!” And that’s only half of the condition removal we have. Not to mention, we now have a stance which makes us immune to all conditions for 10 seconds. Get with the times.
Honestly; I ignore my conditions for the most part now, when before I was constantly on them managing the few sources of CR I had. My DPS doesn’t drop at all. In fact, I start to care less when the fight gets down to it because I know that I’m not going to die to conditions.

Honestly Commander’s Inspiration seems like it should be a stance, and BLS looks like it should be renamed something else and be a shout with a cast time in which you “absorb” the damage and shout it back. I vote Foos Ro Dah.
I like the old school rogue look you’ve got there, but the wings kinda ruin it. 5/10.
And here’s my engineer.
Wow, I really like it. Probably the 2nd best engineer I’ve seen!
Grebo – 8,5/10
. It’s not that I really like the look of the character you posted – because I don’t, but I have to admit that it matches engineer perfectly, and color choices are good – especially metal parts. And having a jetpack is an excellent idea, it really gives your toon “techno” feel.
Point taken for facial choice (too young and too “smooth”) but thats the bane of human male models in general in GW 2 and I shaved off half point for my personal dislike of overwhelming presence of trenchcoats in general.Another of my wife’s norn females – This time it is guardian.
10/10, yellow is good! This is my necro.
8/10! Its very unique, something i really like, it shows creativity and that you don’t go with the normal black look! Nice!
This is my necro… I don’t like the colours, since it very mainstream.. But im still working on it.
I don’t know, I like it, good use of the wraith mask and such and I don’t see those colors together all that often tbh.
8/10
And because I never liked simple screen shots due to being difficult to get good ones on this character
(Edit: Also anyone have any suggestions for a free recording program? Not a fan of the bandicam website at the top)
You can use xSplit in conjunction to your twitch channel to stream your video directly to your computer and save it as a video file rather than streaming it live. I’d suggest buying DXtory so that xSplit doesn’t hog your GPU memory though.
I also had a problem with how my Charr theif looked. It was my very first character and i ended up rerolling human after pleading with customer support for some kind of race change ( i was that desperate ). I went back and played some original Guild Wars and was reminded that there are Charr that stand tall like a human with huge manes and then there are the ones we have now.
Why weren’t we given both body types? To me it seems like a lot of the armor would look so much better on this body type since they stand upright like a human.
The lore behind that is that, back in GW1 most charr were casters, and standing tall was commonplace, but due to the secession from the Flame Legion and advancement in science, the charr discovered that a crouched, more ready-to-pounce position was more effective in battle (most likely because their enemies are so short). Charr casters still stand tall when casting their staves, so it’s nice that the lore of it was taken into account when animating models.
it’d be way overkill.
