You can’t? I thought it was just level limited, that’s a shame.
I saw a dev post in the “help” forums about sticking another superior rune on your underwater breather, so I bought several cheap Superiors to test it, and attempted to place them on my Gavbeorne’s Underwater Breather of the Afflicted (level 80 masterwork) to no avail.
Maybe yours is just Bugged??…
…keep in mind though: that the Rune has NO EFFECT when on land, even when its hover-text claims that it’s counting with the ones on the rest of your Gear.
I know that. I’m just unable to place any rune on my breather (Gavebeorn karma breather from Orr). I will however try to unequip it and see if that’s my issue.
Also, the ability to fight one of the dragons in a giant golem.
Fixed that for you.
There was actually a project on GW2G before beta that utilized Google Maps Software to map Tyria. I’m sure you could find the source for it and port it over to Google Earth API.
EDIT: Here’s a link to the GW2G thread (not the GMaps API one) that displays the entire Tyrian world in a globe, map and “what we’ve seen so far” format. It’s gigantic.

Lord Kuru must be one of the nobles trying to take over the human leadership.
LOL… no, I think I’m middle/working class (?) (I have a friend who works at a bar — is that right?) and I never finished the personal story.
I just don’t like these one-dimensional characters that we have in this game. Especially when they are not believable. C’mon.. an egalitarian queen? What’s next? We find out that she was voted into office a la Star Wars Ep1?
You should have read Destiny’s Edge and Ghosts of Ascalon. You get a lot more of her character out that way.
But Minister Caudicus wants the throne! It would be the perfect segway for a real (real destructive, that is) leader to come in and force us to attempt to kill all of the Elder Dragons. Unfortunately humans will become extinct because no other race is going to listen to some stuck-up old guy.
Did you take the breather off before you tried to put the rune inside? I just noticed this week that this is necessary for back-items… so maybe it counts for the breather as well. I know that I’ve put my superior rune inside my breather before I equipped it and I think many people (maybe all of those that already posted here?) did so… so yeah… try to unequip the breather and then put the rune inside.
No I did not, I’ll have to try that when I get back to my computer.
It’s actually a reference to Trforge Industries, the name of ArenaNet before, well.. ArenaNet. There’s no reason for anyone to get it other than as a vanity item, and I wouldn’t mind if it had a new tier to become a legendary trinket when legendary trinkets go live. There are 3 other celestial amulets in the game, and you aren’t forced to go down the road of paying 180g for a necklace.
Huh. I run 0/10/0/30/30 on my Celestial S/P thief. I don’t boon strip, but it just seemed a bit coincidental.
Before anyone goes off on me for using Celestial gear, it’s specific ONLY to my a/p build. I wouldn’t ever use it with any other build if my life depended on it. The gear is ONLY good for “universal” builds that benefit from every stat. The thief really doesn’t have too many builds like that.

Caltrops + Uncatchable + heavy condition focus will melt any guardian.
Not sure if serious
Guardians have some of the best condition removal in the game.
So people say, yet I’ve never lost a fight to one with my Condi build. When you can reapply bleeding the moment they remove it, condition removal only makes their death slower. They’re still taking damage at a consistent rate.
The moment you run into a properly built boon guardian youll know and wont be able to win. They probably wont be able to kill you either, but thats just the way it goes for Guardian sometimes.
As was said earlier, the only way to win is to have a S/D setup and be able to keep protection (helmet), regen (3 dots) and vigor (leaf) off them. Not sure if Vigor matters for Eles, but guardians gain 1k+ HP every dodge roll. Which sounds a lot easier than it is if they know how to fight S/D Thieves.
I also run boon strip on steal, which may be the reason I have no issues with guardians. I do tournaments daily and roam in WvW afterward. I think I’ve had my fair share of guardians in the 3,140 hours I’ve logged.
Any instance was trivial? Even the Domain of Anguish for example?
Yes. If you built for the content, you should have experienced no issues.
For the hell of it, I ran my own gimmick build where I echoed Endure Pain, literally making me invincible in PvE. In PvP it was a different matter entirely, but being the anchor in that aspect gave your team mates a chance to build for either DPS or Team Support (monk). Maybe it’s because I ran all of my content with my guild and only rarely used henchmen (and heroes when they came out), but I didn’t find the game incredibly difficult. Even the Survivor title track became trivial with Citadel of Flames’ Hammer item or Kilroy Stoneskin’s dungeon where keybinding your revive key to multiple functions resulted in you being invincible in any situation. Running that on hard mode with experience scrolls meant you only had to run it 27 times to recieve the title.
Even the grind in that game became nothing but build-swapping and repetition.
Hey guys, Ferrum here. I’ve got a new build and I’m happy to see what you all think of it. Thus far, I’ve used it to take home 1st place in the Kaineng/TC/FA Open World Duels tournament, and the sustain is pretty amazing.
Things to note:
- It is a condition build. Expect to hit like a wet noodle.
- It utilizes Lyssa runes to maintain 20% uptime of all boons.
- Managing your skills correctly, you can maintain 100% uptime of swiftness, fury and 6-12 stacks of might at all times.
Here’s the build:

Leave any feedback. Up until now I’ve kept this build in the dark, but I think it’s ready for the warrior community.
Before it comes up, I do swap my Corruption shield for Paralyzation once I reach 25 stacks.

Honestly, you’re 100% correct about GW1 players and nostalgia goggles. People who think this game is grindy obviously didn’t pay 1 plat to go to the underworld each time I farm ectos (or as I call them, secondary currency) repeatedly for days and nights on end for a single set of armor (or, as I said before, to have more secondary currency).
Areas and Missions weren’t particularly hard unless you had no idea what you were doing when composing team builds, and even then you’d simply be told to look one up on the PvX Wiki. Once you unlocked 100 Blades and got a friend to ball for you, any instance (which there were a lot of, mind you.) was trivial.
The combat in GW2 is far more engaging and visceral than GW1. Standing still and managing cooldowns in a rotation isn’t skill. Being mobile is far more immersive.

Thief stealth mechanics are broken.
End of story.
Anet has their head so far up it that they cannot fix the problem and it’s too rooted into the theif profession that even if they did/could, it would decimate the class w/o restructuring it completely.
Broken class for broken people who like broken ezmode things.
Only then will you learn how to counter a thief.
How to counter a thief-
Step 1: Realize how incredibly stupid your class is in terms of roaming. Accept it.
Step 2: You also need to realize that if you are a thief, you’re set. If you’re anything but a thief, continue to step 3.
Step 3: Quit to desktop OR go to character select. If you chose character select, continue to step 4.
Step 4: Click “Create New Character” button at the bottom left corner. Race/looks doesnt matter. Choose the thief as your profession.
Step 5: Level him to 80.
Step 6: Delete your old character, as Arena-net will continue to nerf your roaming capabilities due to in-experienced thief players complaining about the fact that their class met another class that did something that they do. Then when other players claim the thief is overpowered, they bash them with things like “L2P”. They are people like Zacchary. And he is right. You make a thief. And you level him to 80. And you play that thief. Learn the class, and you can realize this simple, and indisputable fact. A thief, when roaming, will either 1- Kill you. 2- troll your group of 2-8 with relative ease. 3- Realize that the group or single person they just ran across DOES know how to fight a thief. so they run away. Run away. Let that sink in your minds a little. Run away . So how about those other classes. The thief either gets a loot bag, a giggle when he trolls other groups, or no punishment at all when he makes a bad decision. While other classes are painfully punished for roaming. Thief=Extremely low risk, relatively great rewards. Warriors, and thats about it, are the only class that comes close to doing what the thief does. Only without stealth . That’s why they bring up warriors so much. So go ahead. Tell me to learn to play. I am only going to refer you to this post. Especially that part where I mentioned low risk/high reward.
Warriors can cover a 6k distance in 4 seconds. My chasing thief (which has no stealth, mind you) takes 5 seconds to cover the same distance. If both have swiftness, there’s still a 1-second or 1200 range gap between the two. That’s a best-case scenario if you’re trying to catch a fleeing warrior built for mobility. The thief is the same way. Stealth is a different matter, and most often thieves aren’t smart enough to back down from a downhill battle and they die, consequently.
Has anyone else noticed the whirl finisher on whirling axe not working?
It triggers once right at the start of axe 5 (not once per pulse) so it sends out 1 burn projectile and if that actually hits you apply 1 tick of burn to 1 target.
The burn projectiles don’t go out. It says that you’re doing a whirl finisher, yes, but the projectiles from the finisher have been nonexistent since the “balance” patch.
I placed plenty of exotic sigils on my masterwork weapons already. Why would rebreathers be different?
Go ahead and try it. Perhaps I’m unable to place bought sigils in mine because it’s a karma item, which would be a strange bug.
Wait… sigils? You didn’t buy a sigil instead of a rune on accident right? :P
No <.< I meant rune. I have 5 runes of Lyssa sitting in my bank that I attempted this on.
You can actually place superior runes on the best aqua breathers.
I tried this and was unable to stick them on mine, which is the highest tier you can get. Unless they only accept particular expensive runes, you’re SoL.
The ones you get from the karma merchant in Cursed Shore. Maybe you have a bugged aqua breather? It should work with all runes.
Yep. I have Gavbeorne’s Underwater Breather of the Afflicted. Can’t place superior runes on it. xP

As you may very well know, it’s impossible to place superior runes on Masterwork (the highest obtainable underwater breather level) items. It’s not an issue in PvP of course, but I’d like my 6th rune slot to function underwater rather than not be there at all in PvE/WvW. I haven’t seen any discussion on this and the search function failed to bring up past threads, so I thought if start a discussion and remind ANet about the underwater breathers they seemingly forgot about after launch.
EDIT: Apparently my Gavbeorne’s breather just sucks and won’t take superior runes ;-;

Here’s my (credit to this name upon use) Ferrum Blacktide Unicorn Build:

With this build, you want to constantly be on your heal and elite, maintaining 20% uptime of all buffs using Lyssa runes. Note that, until we get exotic water breathers you don’t have access to these buffs underwater.
The build doesn’t have any complex rotations, and once you chain “Fear Me!”, Shield Bash and Flurry any fight is pretty well done. Let me know what you (or any that use it) think. Before you ask, Healing Signet will not work with this build due to the nature of Lyssa runes.
Just remember that charr are the master race!
Has anyone else noticed the whirl finisher on whirling axe not working?
Market flux as the result of undercutting is a perfectly normal phenomnomnom. In most cases, undercutting actually helps maintain a price rather than cause it to increase or decrease. It’s a demand check, and if that demand check succeeds the item is sold and the market returns to normal. If not, the price will go down and down until there’s again a demand for it.
Econ 101. Take it.
I’ve seen a lot of high-end warriors using banner regen builds these days. Just a tip off
They took away my pew pews ;(. I really hope it’s a bug.

Nobody’s going to give you credibility when all of your past posts either complain about how “broken” stealth is or are simply troll posts. Stealth is an integral part of thief survivability, and if you think thieves are “OP” because of stealth I ask you to play a thief, grow some chest hair and stop your whining. Only then will you learn how to counter a thief.
Any good GC thief has a priority target system. You, unfortunately, are full glass and make for their #1 target.
They can probably tell by:
A) your greatsword
your greatsword
C) boo boos
D) you’re a warrior
E) your greatsword
Nothing, which makes it the most undesirable legendary.
I got 3 roses in 3 rounds in a row of SouthSun Survival and I wasn’t even on the scoreboard each time. You should be able to get it no problem.
Alright, let’s start an Abaddon Kickstarter. On Monday morning we’ll take whatever’s been made for the fund, but gems, convert it to gold and buy out the remaining 2%. Wooh!
Legendary Weapons should be tied to a meta-achievement where you had to complete smaller achievements from every type of content.
Yes, this would mean PvE, sPvP and WvW.
It could be achievements like:
Reach the “Avenger” title in sPvP.
Get X amount of kills in WvW.
For the PvE part it could be getting Dungeon Master, ascend to level 400 in all crafting disciplines and complete a lvl 48 Fractals Of The Mists (with it being your personal level).
This would (to some extend) ensure that people with legendary weapons were actually “worthy” of them.
It’s ridiculous when people with legendary weapons are the easiest targets in WvW and the most kittened in high lvl fractals.
Honestly, I wouldn’t have my legendary even now if those were the requirements.
I have the Mercenary title in PvP, I have 56,860 kills in WvW, and I’m Fractals level 65. Two out of the three would be fine, but honestly PvP rank progression is far too slow and monotonous to be a requirement for a PvE item. Beside that point, they’ve mentioned that they plan to add ways to obtain a legendary in PvP within Q3-Q4 of 2013, so having PvP as a requirement for a legendary would be even more redundant.
I got a Sunrise on May 2013 and its boring after a month and i got to say the remarks i get from player are.
10% – nice Sunrise, give it to me!, i am so jealous :[, give me gold~~.
30%- Using your daddy money is bad you know, Using your credit card to buy is so stupid, I dont even give a F.
60%- Oh you got a Sunrise? well go farm your own server tranfer, lend you gold? but you have a sunrise, china farmer, you have alot of time to farm thats all, you got no skill you just good in cof p1 farming, i bet you are a noob and only know how to farm.
I am not really a noob really maybe i do when i was 2 months old on my warrior but i am able to lead party in fotm 20,30,40 and also able to lead any dungeon in the game, but i am just not the guy that go wvw unless i have to by my guild leader and officer.
My warrior is 8 months old now :]
Yeah, generally people dispise those with legendaries out of jealousy. I tend to get less flak in that aspect however with Kudzu on my charr warrior, and most of the ridicule ends up being somewhere along the lines of “how manly”, which isn’t nearly as bad. All the females love mah flowers though. :P
With 3 million sales as of November, and seeing that each server has reached either Very High or Full in the past 3 server cap raises, Each server has AT LEAST 58,824 registered players, and that number rises each day. They have no reason to close low population servers. (considering that none are below Medium, they wouldn’t have to even if they were forced to close Low pop servers.)
Registered players perhaps but that doesn’t mean they’re actually playing the game. You call it server cap raises but all that means is that they have a sort of calculation that takes people who have been offline for x amount of time out of the equation. So a server cap raise could actually mean that more people have not played for a while therefore freeing up space to allow more people on a given server.
It’s a decently working server population control, but it would not be correct to assume it means populations are constantly on the rise. It can mean just the same that more players stopped playing allowing more people to come to that server.
You obviously aren’t an expert on server architecture and made that little lie up in your head to help you sleep at night. Nobody’s removed from the servers, which is why with each server cap increase we experience more and more lag.
Honestly, I feel great about my legendary. I didn’t farm at all for it. I got it while commanding the server I love after standing up for a good friend of mine. He got it from the Karka event and knew that I needed it, and I’ll forever be thankful. Things like that make legendaries and their components have sentimental value, and I don’t think I’m the only one who cares a lot about his legendary for that reason.
It’ll just be a staff skin.
I see why you say this, the model is holding it in roughly the same way as current staves. However, I will gnash my teeth and rend my garments if you are correct. That is clearly a halberd model. God if they give it to spellcasters I’ll be kittened
Its the seraph spear model… http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Seraph_Spear
Quoted for truth, because some people make me facepalm. The clockwork soldiers just have an added intelligence chip that allows them to weild underwater weapons on land, something Tyrians lack the brainpower to do.

I know a certain 5-charr mesmer team that uses Warband Support in conjunction with identical characters and outfits, all ash legion, to turn their 5-charr team into a 30-charr battle when each has 3 clones and 2 warband allies out. It makes any even matchup very difficult to win for the opposing team.
I created a challenge thread a few months back challenging people to do this exact thing (the LDoA part, not leveling to 80 with 0 deaths.)
Make meh proud!
Travlane doesn’t know the difference between a daze and a stun. Both (stealth) sword 1 and steal have *dazes, not stuns.
I hope they just give me a Quagganborn Tonic. Then I can go around FoOOOos Ro Dah-ing people!
Are you in Quaggans Magic Candy Wagon [oOOo]? O:
When you need superior siege, you’ll understand.
Zrix completely skipped me…. Thank you for your ignorance. Could someone please go back and rate mine? "-.-
Guardian – 6/10. Somewhat cluttered but I like it! A little.
Ranger – 9/10. Very unique use of the whispers’ hood and the ascalonian coat. I never see that! Also, I love the colors.
Thief – 4/10. Stereotypical thief is stereotypical :\
My turn! You’ve got to rate all of them. Every outfit for my warrior as well <.<
If the movie was centered around a certain Charr commander wearing golden armor wielding Kudzu I’d probably watch it.
