I’m considering releasing my gold making guide next week John.
+500g a week, but doesn’t involve gold faucets at all. I sincerely hope you do not nerf it at all
Interesting changes needless to say, but I think the decrease of coin reward from Events is a big mistake. It’s hard to find people even willing to do the different events now, with the exception of the world bosses.
Coin rewards from events are small anyway. I don’t think it will make a material difference. People who do those low-level, non-meta events are doing it mainly for exp.
Current gold sinks off the top of my head, in no order
-TP
-crafting reagents/components
-WP
-commander tags
-cultural armor
-icy runestones
-Salvage kits/tools
Neither of these changes will impact me, since retraits/armor repairs were insignificant and champ farming isn’t the best way to make gold.
Maybe John Smith felt that it was time to have some deflation in the economy…

edit: or disinflation, I’m too lazy to think
(edited by Vol.7601)
No. both games are separate and in aspects completely different (i.e. no necros in China)
How about we say goodbye to waypoint costs huh. Now that would be a feature
WP costs are a pretty significant gold sink that I don’t think Anet would want to remove, unless they introduce some other way to combat it
The economic changes are puzzling. Here we have the removal of two gold sinks, althouhg both of them were insignificant to begin with.
And then we have the removal of a gold faucet in champ boxes, which IMO are moderate.
I must wonder if John Smith realizes that the game was heading towards unintended inflation.
I’m also very curious as to what this ‘variation’ means in terms of the Mystic Forge.
I was hoping for the removal of the guest limit.

Remember that there are so many other factors at play that it is impossible to say if it mattered.
Criticals, positioning, player skill I reckon play more of a factor than ascended/exotic stat differences.
Finally, I can transfer my unused Triforge since October 2012.
Regarding your PM Phoebe, I’m not sure why you are so angry and obsessed with me. I seem to attract a lot of fans :/
Vol you have money to buy 30 legendaries. Of all people, you surprise me the most with this question. Stop uproaring the market of precursors. Don’t think we can’t see your little game to resell precursors.
And if you didn’t read forums, about 1-3 weeks ago, someone of Anet specifically said, legendaries are postponed (they are ‘currently not a priority’). Why would they lie then? Don’t think they would.
Oh I’m definitely not that rich – at least I don’t have the liquidity to do that. I envy people like this guy:

precursor investment is a risky one, so there’s nothing in it for me.
I’m just genuinely interested in new legendaries because they are end-game to me.
Do you remember who made that post? I check here every weekday and may have missed it.
Yeah i’m beginning to think that maybe they scraped the plan for new legendary weapons all together. We haven’t heard anything about them since they were delayed back in December. I assume they ran into some sort of technical problem or something.
It would be nice to have an update. I know I and a dozen or so of my guild members have all been holding out for the new legendary drop. Slowly 1 by 1 they have been giving up and making current weapons though.
See this is making me really wonder..
New legendaries shouldn’t be a technical problem since they are just skins. The art team just needs time to design all of them, and so far they’ve had 9-10 months to design, 6 months originally.
So if there has been a technical issue that is holding new legendaries back, it could be possible that these legendaries will require a new set of components to craft that, just like the precursor crafting/scavenger hunt, will be based more on reward/accomplishments than gold.
Seeing as how today’s blogpost doesn’t indicate anything about new legendaries, I really must wonder what happened to the plan.
This is a feature build
PvE content comes from Living Story releases.
Still no news on new legendaries, however.
I don’t think there would be a better exchange rate after the patch. If anything, there is a big risk that the map rewards will be nerfed. So I suggest doing map completion now before April 15th.
A guardian wearing a skirt? Cannot unsee
Why the hell do we even care about Carrots anyway? Everyone knows that broccoli is healthier and cheaper pound for pound.
Stop spreading false news to pump and dump, Wanze. You’re better than that.
Buying carrots 1 copper more than the above, pm me

Only some pieces require the vision crystal. Others use the lesser vision crystal.
Do the rest of the BG guilds know of all the bad things that Jarvan about certain guilds when they initially left that server?
It will be interesting to see JQ vs BG when things really matter.
TC will be the new SoR
Your best chance is to sell skillpoints.
I think I’m at over 2000 skillpoints and you can convert them to gold…
Apparently at this time you can sell 1 skill point for 1 gold…that may change shortly

Yeah, no. I’m sure the marketing benefits of providing previews and pre-release blogposts outweigh the ‘negatives’ of speculative repercussions, especially when there would be virtually no difference between releasing information before changes and during changes.
Your best bet is the forum. I doubt they will respond to you by mail (who does that these days), and their Anet emails are not public and discouraged.
Why would there need to be an alternate approach?
Other than throwing a hissyfit because someone else made more profit than you there is really no need to care.
Yeah I think OP is just really mad he missed out on all the gold to be made. I missed it myself, but hey, too bad.
What do you mean with infocontrol?
If it’d be announced 2 weeks before, we would just see tp react 2 weeks before.
Wouldnt it?If the “unid dye” portion of the blog was never mentioned until release it would have avoided much of the current market turmoil.
The only reason common dyes are so expensive right now is because players grabbed them to get free unid dyes after the patch goes live.
And what difference does that suggestion make? You would be making this very same post on patch day.
Of course it was ‘planned’ and discussed. Why in the world would you think otherwise? Why would you need to question such a thing?
Assuming it was planned and discussed, why wouldn’t I question such a thing?
The market is substantially different. It’s impacting any player that would like to obtain a dye.
Don’t you want to know why ANet felt it was necessary?
Again, I don’t see what you’re arguing over and I don’t see how in any way this should be controversial. What I think I’m getting at from you is that Anet should not release any content whatsoever that should impact any markets.
Of course it was ‘planned’ and discussed. Why in the world would you think otherwise? Why would you need to question such a thing?
And by ‘plan’ I don’t mean they held a meeting and discussed that they wanted dyes A through Z to be x price. They planned that there would be market fluctuations from said change, and to consider what impacts it would have, one of them being the Gift of Color.
I don’t quite understand what you’re trying to imply
What could very well happen:
-People will dump their excess unid dyes on patch day
-Other people will consume them
-Speculators will put buy orders, keeping a price floor in effect
= resulting in little price change in dyes
I too steered away from investing in this item. Like others have said, its a rifle which other than an engineer, isn’t gonna be used much. Sure a warrior can use it but what warrior in his right mind would drop 700g on an item which will not see much use. Not to mention pretty much any engineer worth his salt is gonna be using kits so you wouldn’t see the rifle anyways.
And you gotta also remember, Anet will constantly be putting out new skins since this game is really about the skins so in a year, that Scarlet rifle will be old news and there will be better and more flashy rifle skins out im sure.
Killshot warriors are very popular in WvW. It doesn’t help that commander tag changes were nerfed, but it’s still viable.
The Gift of Colour has been confirmed to be reduced to 100 Unid’ed Dyes with the patch, so demand will be lower there.
But I DO think that prices for Unid’ed Dyes will stabilise higher than the old price, anywhere between 50s – 1g, due to their greater scarcity. Prices for identified dyes will probably fall due to reduced demand, and the various cooking ingredients used for crafting dyes will rise. (A good thing! Many of them were woefully undervalued.)
Now we just wait for the incoming rage threads about Silver Doubloons not getting the same reduction.
I would reckon Anet’s argument is this:
There will be significant game changes for unid dyes, so it is fair for them to make the adjustment.
There has never been any significant game changes for doubloons, so it is unfair for them to make the adjustment.
If Anet were to adjust silver doubloon prices on a whim, what kind of precedent does this set?
That means Anet will have to constantly change recipes each time there is a large fluctuation in any item.
This thread is a gold mine for getting me infracted ;_;
There have been some wierd glitches lately. For example, people have had several thousand items in their inventory, ranging from Eternities, to Conduits, to unique skins. They are graphical glitches.
Are you sure you have those 1001 gems available?
In order to check, click the gems to gold tab and see if it gives you 1001 gems to convert into gold. If not, it’s a graphical glitch.
I too, have extra Gifts from Scarlet. And I hope one day that they become tradeable.
Is drama allowed there are are they just as censored?
Surprised it took this long for someone to notice!
So-o… these aren’t dev’s tools as I assumed they are…
Dev Tools have an orange button at the top

They should just change the requirement of 250 unidentified dyes with 250 piles of putrid dust
^____^
I really can’t believe all the people that want the wardrobe to be free. Really so you get the skin once and can use it when ever you want free of charge? How do you think this game is paid for? You do not pay monthly, you do not have to pay for the April 15th patch. Really I think you just want a game you log into, gets updated when ever you want but then you also get every single thing in the game. Just for the heads up the people that do the updating would like to get paid for the work they do.
Just do some thinking before screaming greedy company.
Reasonable thinking people like you do not belong here. Please join us on reddit.
The one case against making unid dyes being account bound is the Gift of Color.
You can still buy them with Laurels….I doubt they’ll change that and as such you’ll still be able to make the gift of color.
Yeah but is that exactly fair?
All legendaries have these gift components that are purchasable, so it would be unfair.
Well, except the Moot and it’s 5 Boxes of Fun, but nobody cares about the Moot!
In the Wardrobe System , i already made Sunrise(unlock sunrise skin) then buy Twilight at TP(equip Twilight and unlock skin).
Finally, i crafte Eternity in the Mystic Forge and sell it.
Will i still have 2 legendary greatsword skin(Sunrise and Twilight) and take back gold to buy other legendary?
I don’t think you guys understand OP’s original question, and he makes up a great point, which I wonder if Anet has thought of that.
Technically both Sunrise and Twilight should be available to you, even though Eternity became bind on equip and sellable.
Of course though, you will not get any gold back from these legendaries. The only thing that would concern you is the available of Sunrise/Twilight skins. Eternity will not be available to you since you didn’t equip it.
Additionally you don’t know the cost of appearance modification.
It could take 1 crystal for an entire wardrobe change. That would mean ANET is giving you free stones.
Wait and see.
The picture in the blog indicated it will be a 1 charge per 1 item conversion.
The picture got 4 items selected for transmutation and got the cost calculated at 4.
We don’t know yet if that is the cost because of the rarity of the armor. I’m not aware if those items are ascended, but ascended armors could very well cost more charges, while legendaries will require quite a few.
Adding skins to the wardrobe as they mention is very easy. However the “unlocking” part is where I am concerned. If I have say 2 skins I want to swap between they make it sound like I have to pay a transmutation charge every time.
How it should really be is that you pay a transmutation charge to “unlock” the skin for unlimited use just like how achievement skins work. Why should we have to pay a charge every time we want to change our looks? There are over 2000+ skins in the game it is not like Anet would be out the money. This would actually put an incentive for me to actually spend real money buying transmutation stones because they have a value. If it does not work this way I don’t see it changing anything.
Old system I had to use transmutation stones/crystals every time per 1 item. New system same thing… (1 charge = 1 transmutation crystal)
Anet please respond. I am dying to know because this one simple thing changes everything. Pvp locker works like this in theory as well. I have the skin I can put it on anytime free of cost (check in/out system).
The new system is better
The old system had the following:
-destroyed items
-can only have 1 skin active at one time
-Depending on the item, could have involved 2 transmutation crystals and a splitter on each application
The new system:
-no destroyed items
-can have an unlimited number of skins active at one time
-one transmutation charge/crystal per application
How no one can see the new system is beyond me
The one case against making unid dyes being account bound is the Gift of Color.
I highly doubt 100,000 players have purchased lvl 79 stones…
I’d like to know where you rent your clothes where they actually give you items at a steep discount.
As a fashion lover, I’d want in on that.
I just want to know one thing. Will a transmutation charge “unlock” the skin already in our locker for unlimited use.
That changes everything. If it does work that way OMG amazing. If not I see this as an unnecessary barrier for skins that should have UNLIMITED use. After all we payed the charge. Why make us pay again.
These are the steps:
1.) You have a helm already equipped the day you log in on April 15th
2.) You go to the character that you want the helm to be applied to
3.) You click around, find the helm and choose to apply it to the character
4.) In order to confirm the application, you will need at least 1 transmutation charge.
It is not unlimited. The restriction is the transmutation charge, which costs gold/gems. Or you can even spend 20 minutes exploring Rata Sum and getting 1 charge from that.
But if you had unlimited charges, then yes, it’s ‘unlimited.’
