Legendary of choice for 1st place pvp tourney

Vol.7601

I think it is awful that they are offering this. Invalidates those of us that hated doing things like World Exploration, and would rather do WvW but we had to do other game modes. But because Anet favors PvP thinking it will save this game they get a legendary for winning a tournament. I like PvP and do it myself, but giving away something that people grind for for 6 months to people that just mastered one game mode is wrong. Precursor, or one gift I guess is ok, still over the top, but giving away the whole thing is such a slap in the face to the rest of us. A title would have sufficed. Still makes them stand out, but doesn’t invalidate others’ accomplishments.

Thanks Anet…

And how is this different than people buying legendaries off the TP?

At least the people who are winning this are winning based on merit/skill, rather than time/luck/grinding like they have the whole time.

And it’s only 5 people. That’s insignificant.

After working my tail off since pre-launch to be able to make two legendaries myself I’m pretty disgusted at them just giving away a legendary weapon.

You make it sound like they are giving it away to everyone.

They’re giving it to the 5 best players in the tournament, so they’re rewarding it to the most skilled.

Can we get an update on New Legendaries?

Vol.7601

With the news that precursor crafting has been cancelled/shelved, it would be nice to know if Anet has any plans on releasing new legendaries in the April 15th patch.

Now if there is no reply here, I can safely assume that there is still a small chance that its coming on the 15th and you do not want to spoil it.

But if it is not coming on the feature patch, it would be very nice to know right now so that numerous players can go ahead and use their materials for current legendaries or elsewhere.

Seeing as how these new legendaries were planned for as far back as June 2013, and I don’t see how the end components of new legendaries would factor in the new progression system, it seems reasonable that new legendaries are a go?

Earning Traits VS Buying Them

Vol.7601

None knows yet, it is FAR easier to predict the community’s reactions though.

1. Cheap: omg, Anet is a trash company, there is no point of exploring cause you can still buy them, what a grindy grindy grindy game this is, gold again
2. Expensive: omg, Anet have always wanted to make the game P2W, OMG OMG OMG, THE GAME IS DEAD
3. They decide to delete the gold option: OMG ANET IS FORCING ME TO PLAY CONTENT. WHY DO I NEED TO DO SOMETHING I DON’T LIKE, I HATE EXPLORATION

One of those complains is gonna be seen soon enough, who will complain is purely based on their preferences, and whoever doesn’t like the updates will come and comment negativly, since forums are negative only nowadays. Talking about haters, they will comment with one of those three regardless cause their main point is hating, not how the game is anyhow.

let’s not forget the players on empty servers complaining about how traits are locked behind hard and difficult content only built for TTS or BG like…Orrian Wizard!

How you concluded with buying traits on the gem store is beyond me.

If you want to come up with absurd ideas, there has to be a better one than that.

its actually highly likely, they have already sold trait resets in store, and its the analog in the new systems where they moved the gold sink from trait resets, to obtaining traits.

I seriously do not see how you can conclude that since they sold trait resets in the store, that they would sell traits directly. Is it because they use the word ‘traits’??

They sold trait resets because it was a convenience item.

Why would they sell traits in the gem store, when they will be available not only in game after completing in content, but purchaseable from the NPC?

Thank you Vol.7601 for posting the video, but I wish to inform you that I tried that, I tried just about every move a Charr is capable of and still could not make it. Sometimes (when I was lucky) I leapt clean over the top of the hilt but most of the time I just kept “running on the spot” so to speak as the window of insertion is so small as to put the percentages of landing on the right spot very small indeed.

The way I personally did it was jump on the opposite side of the ‘gear’ handle.

The video posted above had the player jump on the top part. Try jumping on the bottom part.

It’s not a giant coincidence. It happens. But the only reason why it seems like it happens all the time because more people are likely to talk about their successes than failures repeatedly.

I myself have got 3 precursors over my lifetime playing this game, but the route there has been inconsistent.

http://imgur.com/a/csqYt

I threw over 1000 gold in the forge before I got my first one, Zap. 100 or so gold later I got a Dusk.

400 gold later I got another Dusk.

It’s really all RNG, and when you have a lot of capital, all it takes is to have a lucky streak to gain more gold to gamble even more, and it snowballs.

Hi! So I’ve played in GW2 for over 3561h now. Since the beggining I only ever found one precursor(the cheapest one) worth around 60-80g. Even when I’m lucky I seem to be unlucky. I know I should be happy, but you know, it’s 3561h, it’s a lot. I also wasted over 400g on mystic forge in attempts to get a precursor. I never got one, while my friend who barely started the game got 2 in a row in her few first attempts. Today I guested on Desolation, and apparently some guy found/made about 20 precursors already. Doesn’t it seem a bit weird? I mean, I don’t know much about RNG…but umm…why am I so unlucky? Will I ever get better luck at finding/making things?
Even events like Karka Queen, or Tequatl give me really bad rewards, I get mostly greens. I never received an exotic from neither of those bosses, while my friend got his exotic accessory 3rd time in a row(and my other friend got ascended 2nd time in a row from Karka Queen). Just…why? XD How can I be so unlucky? Is there some kind of shrine in Tyria I go to, to increase my luck?

What’s the point of this topic? I don’t know. I guess I’m hoping someone else is just as unlucky as I am. Also, if I’m in some kind of ‘rabbit-hole’ of being unlucky, will I ever get out? Will the RNG somehow reset and put me in a better spot? I’m not sure how to put this, I’m basically curious if I’ll ever start getting better loot.

-Hours played in game doesn’t matter. 3500 hours in WvW vs 3500 hours in dungeons vs 3500 hours in open world farming – who do you think has the most chances at looting a precursor?

-spending 400g on gambling is nothing. If it were that easier to get a precursor, they wouldn’t on average cost more than 400g.

-‘Finding’ precursors is easy if you have the money to gamble for it from the forge. If he meant getting precursors from loot, he’s BS’ing. Anyone can make up kitten on map chat.

Make us vote for the future of LA

in Living World

Posted by: Vol.7601

Vol.7601

Sounds like fun but a timeconsuming idea. We need to be somewhat of realistic in this. I dont think they will spend that amount of time to choose between two or three different ideas how La is going to look like “IF” they are taking it back as the main city.

Well this is why I think they should just focus on providing the concept art.

I don’t expect them to design three different maps and then discard two.

Here is my ideal scenario:

Both Evon and Kiel (or whoever we are voting for) would have their own release pages with how the new LA would look. It would involve concept art, and a top-down map layout of where things would go (just like architectural blueprints)

As for stuff happening in game, it would be very limited. Text from both competitors would give a brief summary of what they would be voting for, and maybe a basket for tokens for players to deposit.

It’s really up to Anet how they would approach this.

Would they make this a Living World release patch, just likw BotW was, which involved a lot more content than voting?

Or would this be an off-line campaign, like a facebook campaign, in addition to, say, the feature patch?

If it were the latter, it would be very easy to plan and implement (<1 month)

Town Clothes are now outfits, which can be worn as armor.

BIG BIG news: Transmutation Stones (lvl <79) can be converted with a 3-1 ratio. I’d hate to be the people who tossed their excess ones (I have over 500)

Granted though, you said you didn’t do that. But I personally can’t see why it’s any different farming gold or farming materials.

I can only really respond with “sentimental value”. I mean, in real life I work as a space systems project manager and make a good deal of money. I could go and buy a golden trophy that says I’m awesome very easily, but it just doesn’t feel as awesome as if I earned that trophy performing some feat I consider epic. Similarly, I could easily take a helicopter that I paid for to the top of a mountain, but it isn’t as personally gratifying as if I trekked up that mountain on my own two feet against all opposition. That’s the difference to me.

That’s actually a pretty good analogy, and I can understand your side a bit better. It really boils down to personal preferences.

Either way, a precursor crafting/scavenger method is always a good thing, as long as it keeps the current alternatives of TP/Mystic gambling a viable choice on average. It’s a shame that it’s not coming (if at all).

There is to some people. Monetarily no.. but it’s about the journey. I personally feel more satisfied when I earn what I need directly rather than random money grinding to buy stuff off the TP. It’s one of my biggest gripes about the game.

Exactly. The key word is ‘earn’.

I personally see no difference between earning the materials themselves, versus buying them off the TP with gold that I earned.

4 1/2 of my legendaries were earned by me (My bifrost was half funded by gems in November 2012) by hardcore farming. I spent hours dedicating my time to farming mobs, keeping track of metas, guesting, e.t.c.

I feel that I have earned it because I put the time to get it.

But if I went out and cashed my bonus cheque to buy gems? I wouldn’t feel the same way.

I can understand when you have people buying legendaries off the TP with a credit card – I don’t like it (but I actually don’t care to complain) and I can see how it diminishes it’s value.

But how about the people who spend their time earning the gold to purchase the components from the TP? I don’t see that any different than farming materials directly since you are still dedicating your time, however it may be dedicated to.

I cannot understand people who complain about having to pay for a precursor, while they themselves paid for all their T6 mats and lodestones, which in sum is greater than the precursor it self.

Granted though, you said you didn’t do that. But I personally can’t see why it’s any different farming gold or farming materials.

There is a HUGE time and RNG difference between actually farming the mats and buying them off the TP.

You are forgetting the other step involved with ‘buying them off the TP’, and that involves having the gold to buy it.

500 JC is 100% on it’s way eventually, maybe on April 16

The fact that they have 500 JCshows that there is going to be a use for the profession.

The obvious one right now is a way to make infused versions.
Right now we only have infused rings. We do not have infused amulets or accessories.
500 JC could involve us crafting components to put in the forge to make infused versions.

The other idea, which is a real stretch and just a nice idea to dream about, is to include visual improvements. Jewelcraft items are strictly for stat increases – there are no visual cues that you have an ascended over a fine item. If I recall, Colin said last September that they wouldn’t mind legendary dyes or other ways to make you character stand out. Well what if they made it so that jewelcrafting added shines/jewellery to you character? For example, refining a special Ruby component will help you install small ruby patterns on you shoulders? Or combine all these colorful components to create some impressive jewellery on your armor? This idea is a real stretch and unlikely to come to fruitition, but fun to think about.

Looking at the blog topics that are about to be released in the next days to get us excited for the feature patch, i cant really see cooking and JC 500 to be anywhere in there.

PVT not viable for tagging mobs?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Vol.7601

Vol.7601

So I’ve noticed and correct me if I’m wrong but in bigger scaled Events where you have a lot of mobs attacking a Camp, if you go Soldier’s or anything else you’d get a lot less drops then if you wore Berserker’s? Is this correct?

I think if the Tagging System isn’t adjusted a bit, nothing other then Berserker’s will ever be viable in PvE, because basically we’re forced to do highest DPS to fill the criteria for our drops, or the other 20 Berserker’s will take our spot in the “DPS ladder” and we end up empty handed.

I don’t think Berserker’s is the problem, as the not-being-able-to-wear-anything-else if you want drops.

If you are fighting in small groups, this is not an issue. PvT would be better because of survivability.

But when you are fighting in a zerg, berserker gear will end up pushing you past the loot threshold to get credit.

But the above point doesn’t really become a factor anyway, considering there are other factors that influence your ability to get loot, such as party/grouping and DR.

I personally run zerker gear not only to ensure I do superior damage to get loot credit, but to kill mobs faster enough to spawn more waves, resulting in more loot.

yeah well the zerg usually melts down every mob no matter what gear (unless it’s an Elite or a Champion and those usually 1shot you if scaled) .

I also run Berserker’s most of the times, but at some days I wish I’d run a Cleric’s and still get drops as I do when I’m a Berserker but that isn’t happening. Funny thing, same goes for WvW and Loot/WXp, if you focus on supporting though well-placed combo fields, like Water and stuff like that while the zerklings pow-pow the aggressors you won’t get credit for your help, as you have to do enuogh-damage-to-fill-the-loot-criteria (and it isn’t just 1 hit)

Funny you mention that – I feel the exact same way with my Guardian in WvW trains.

The commanders always call out for blasts, and I really want to pull out the hammer. But when you are in combat, that removes some valuable seconds of tagging with staff, resulting in less loot.

I’m really selfish in WvW ;[
