Good luck making 2 of the new legendaries on patchday. We dont even know the recipes for them. I wouldnt be suprised if they would be completly different recipes with ascended mats and the precursors will cost more than the old legendaries in the first days.

It’s unlikely to expect new recipes for the new legendary weapons. There is no rationale for it, anyways. Legendary trinkets, however, are more likely to be different but I have prepared for that.

The precursor would be the most immediate problem, considering the likelihood of timegates involved. But that can be easily solved with forge gambling, or throwing thousands of gold at it on the TP.

Forge gambling will also be a reason why T5 and T6 mats will spike.

Yeah, I just hope that precursor crafting/scavenger hunt is difficult enough to leave gambling as a viable alternative.

I’m actually very glad that we will be having a long break until the content patch. It gives me enough time to farm all the gold to invest in a wide variety of items that are going to spike. If it drops in May, that’s enough time for me to farm +3000 gold.

Yeah originally when I tried this back when we had shelt/pen farm, I used Staff 3, Judge’s Intervention and Purging Flames to tag 3 waves at the same time. I think the main reason why I didn’t get any loot was because Purging Flames contributed very little DPS compared to the rest of the players.

Solo’ing mobs with just purging flames will give you loot since you have no competition for loot.

But using it in a zerg will not contribute enough at all.

Oh how I truly miss the old Shelt/Pen train….

I miss the old old pen farm where all the waves funnelled into one spot.

Or when pen capture event was bugged and you had an unlimited event spawning mobs

Those were the days.

Plus 1 for using Doge in your OP. Very awesome. Such win.

On a side note, I have about 20 kill streak boosters in my bank that will simply be deleted eventually. Talk about useless. Never used one. Never will.

Well that’s a shame, because you could have used from during the Escape from LA event.

Pop a killstreak booster during an aetherblade miasma event on north WP/Bank – you get a full level in under 10 minutes.

What exactly were you killing?

If you were killing Orr mobs in straits, then obviously you would be hit with DR shortly.

But if you focused on killing mobs in other diverse areas, this wouldn’t be an issue.

Here is what I would do to best utilize killstreak:

Do not stick to one area on the map. Go explore the entire map by making a circle route. This way you are less exposed to killing the same mob type (and hence DR).

If you come across an event that spawns mobs frequently that you can kill easily, hop on that as well.

Keep in mind that static mobs (mobs not from events) have rested exp, and so you get extra bonus for killing those.

Enjoy it while it lasts because T6 will skyrocket a TON when new legendaries come out + precursor crafting, but only for a short time.

If you plan on making the new legendaries you should stock up now.

I plan on making at least 2 of the new legendaries on patch day and then taking advantage of the inflated prices.

Remember how ridiculously inflated iron ore/ingots were for an hour or so during Escape from LA?

Well imagine the same thing happening to T6 mats. I can easily see T6 mats rising to 60s each at a minimum an hour after patch day. This is because extremely rich players, or players who want instant gratification are willing to pay a huge premium to be the ‘first’.

These prices won’t be able to sustain themselves for long, but for only a few hours as people start to sell their excess inventory. I would personally take advantage of mystic clover gambling, though of course I could see ectos end up getting spiked shortly to 50s as well.

50 250 stacks… well i need 25 more stacks :P

Let’s see how much profit you can make with just 50 stacks…

Ignoring TP fees and utilizing hypotheticals:

Price of mithril now = 30c
50 stacks of mithril = 37.5G

Hypothetical high of mithril = 60c
50 stacks of mithril = 75G
That’s only a profit of 37.5 G.

When you consider opportunity costs that is a very poor investment (and we don’t know if mithril will ever reach 60c again anytime soon)

You were better off investing in Scarlet’s Rifle earlier this week when it was 100G and now over 200G (and can reach to +400G by the end of this event)

The only way you can make a profit off of speculating commodities is to have a 2nd account and accumulate volume through TP storage.

Vol.7601

And vol let me tell you something. In the 600 hours I spent playing gw2, I spent probably 2/3 of that time in the tp because I found out that that instead of playing 8h a day running champ train, I could spend 30min a day playing the tp and making the cash. And that is sad. I played over 3000hours in gw1 because I was enjoying its content and it was also rewarding the effort I made. But this game does not reward you for your effort. And in the end of you want nice skins for weapon and armor you have to farm gold. I have a life out of gaming so I can’t spend 10hours a day farming champ train. But in gw1 I could do 2 doa with my guild and be fully rewarded and then I could go do something else (homeworks and stuff).

The prob with gw2 is that if you want something and that you can’t spend 8hours per day playing, you have to either buy gems or tp flip. Because the rest is not effective

Then that’s the problem with YOU, not the game.

It’s clear your objective is to make the most gold you can, to the point that you end up doing something you hate.

It's getting lame..

Vol.7601

Such hogwash.

OP simply doesn’t know how to play the game to make money (non-TP) and instead wants to cop out and blame TP players. I think it’s fairly easy to blame others than yourself…

Can you make the most gold per hour playing the TP?
Yes.

But if everyone did it, the profit would be gone.

Now, you know how much gold I make in a week just playing the game?

At the minimum, I make 400 gold a week. 40G per weekday and 100G per weekend, or approximately across 40-50 hours a week. or 8-10g /hour

That is the most gold ANYONE will be able to get playing the game without the TP (although I hear karka farming is just as rewarding, but 5x as much boring)

Once I earn all my gold in farming, I invest and speculate in the TP. Right now I have 1000 gold worth invested in one commodity. That commodity I expect to go up at least 225% so that through the TP, I can make well over 1000g in profit.

But where did I get all that capital from? From TP playing? No! All 1000g from that (OK maybe 95% since it’s hard to keep track of where gold comes from) came from playing the game.

If you do not want to
-take the time to analyze the game world and find out the best methods of making gold
-take the time to learn your class
-take the time to play smart and prioritize

then you are not going to make more gold than the TP.

Complaining about the TP and buffing ‘playing the game’ rewards will not get you anywhere. It’s called inflation, I suggest you wiki that.

Here’s another option. Create a new character, preferably a Mesmer and not a Charr or Norn. Use the levelling up scroll to get them up to level 20. This character has two jobs, getting to jumping puzzles and completing jumping puzzles. Every JP chest at this level has about a 1 in 4 chance of dropping a silver doubloon, which trades for a couple of gold.

Alternatively, you can chain run these characters to farm iron ore (especially rich nodes) which are guaranteed income of 26s every day, at the minimum per rich node.

- No traits (resetted)
- No weapons equipped
- No runes with damaging effects
- No food/buffs except the virtues and Signet of Judgement and Signet of Mercy

And I still got loot from lvl 4 bandits in Queensdale.

Source: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/living-world-2013-the-year-in-review/

I am not ignorant to how code works. Although I myself am not a programmer.
If I were a programmer. I dont think I would release more bugged code before fixing whats already bugged( core of game ). To me that makes the job harder and now your working backwards.

Well thank goodness that you are not a programmer, because if we followed your rationale, nothing would get released. Unlike doctors or electricians, programmers are given a bit more leeway in releasing content that may not be 100% polished.

It may be 100% polished on the test servers, but it is impossible to be 100% polished so that it works 100% of the time on client servers. That’s because there are several million different combinations of computer components out there, as well as software configurations that mess up the client.

Let alone the millions of possible actions from a player that could trigger a bug, which cannot be feasibly tested by QA.

Lately I’ve been noticing a lot of guardians using this utility for some reason, especially in Orr farms where the cure condition aspect isn’t really beneficial.

It’s been widely tested that the damage you do to a mob will make you eligible for loot.

Unfortunately, the damage done by this skill does not make you eligible. Any other weapon skill does, but not this utility.

In fact, the trait that burns foes among activation of Virtue of Justice also does not give you loot either, so we can infer that any damage done through burning does not affect you reaching the loot threshold in anyway.

I have tested this before, but feel free to try it yourself – Round up about 5 mobs, but do not attack them with any weapon skill. Activate purging flames around them and see if any loot drops.

Suggestion - Living Story Season meta reward?

in Living World

Posted by: Vol.7601

Vol.7601

Yeah I think this would cause a lot more uproar than it is now.

You’d have players who feel blindsided that they should have achieved the LS metas to get this bonus reward.

You have to inform the players first for the rewards before handing them out, not after.

I think the account bound skin is more than enough.

Yeah. I think the main issue with the account bound skin is some people have a bank row full of them that they’ll never use. I’d rather have a couple yellows than a skin sitting in my bank.

It could be completing metas or just doing the story instance. There could definitely be some confusion though if the rewards you would get at the end weren’t announced yet or were that release specific.

Maybe just letting players choose their rewards is enough. Something like “Would you like this skin? Or something else?”.

You could even drop the whole token thing. It would just know at “the end” how long you helped and how many releases you did and gave you a better reward without asking the user to choose x reward over y. Just throwing some ideas out there. :P

Yes, I agree a token system would be good.

You could choose between a backpiece, helm, or gloves.

And yeah I do have the same problem as you. Even though I have 10 alts, I still have a ton of spare helms/backpieces that I can’t really use.

At least with the token you can choose what you want instead of being forced.

Too bad thatthe other leather doesnt follow suit as the rugged leather seems to be the bottleneck.

Leather is actually my favorite market, not because there is a lot of gold to be made in it, but because it always seems so remarkably balanced and in equilibrium (both re: trading and promoting).

I am wondering why Anet has chosen to increase the iron sinks but not mithril ones. Thoughts?

Probably to give a reason for players to visit low-level zones and populate them, rather than have everyone bottlenecked in lvl 80 zones which are populated enough.

If you really want to be a 1%’er get a part time job and work an extra 2 hours a day, or 10 hours a week. 10 hours*$7.50 = $75 = 6000 gems = 360g

That is 36g/hr, far more than you will even make on the TP outside of huge upsets.

360 gold per week would also not get you into the Top 1% in the game, I’m afraid to say. At that rate, it would take you 7 weeks to make roughly the same profit I described above, which was made in only 1 week. And during the other 6 weeks you are trying to catch up to that, people in the 1% would be continuing to make even more gold. Spending real-life money to convert to 360 gold per week would in all honesty, get you closer to being a 30%’er or something like that.

I’m pretty sure 360 gold per week is the top 1%. Sure, there are probably a dozen, two dozen other players that make more gold than that but that’s an extremely high rate of gold when you consider the rest of the population.

The majority of players in this game probably don’t even touch 50g a week.
