I think 250 attempts using an exotic is fair.
I bet a large % of their business is based through credit.
And I think a large majority of people make purchases on credit when needed, not when they get paid? After all, invoices are paid once a month.
Loading screens in general are becoming a burden in this game. There are times when I find myself wondering if the client has simply frozen/crashed. If it had always been this way, it would be easy to blame the hardware, but this is something that has gotten steadily worse over the past 7 or 8 months. Load times are just unacceptable now. Throw that in with the double-load you get when using the air ship, and it’s a matter of a couple minutes before I can even start playing.
It’s your hard drive/SSD.
Go guest to higher population servers to do them?
A lot of people are doing metaevents now since they’ve had ample opportunity to go for at least 1 halo.
I don’t think anyone in their mind would flip mithril, but mithril is good to hold on to in large amounts (using alt account with TP storage) for when precursor crafting comes out.
Opportunity cost is a factor of course, as there are other commodities worth more speculating in.
Why stop there?
why not toggle off shoulder pieces?
Weapons?
Minipets and pets/minions?
How about all Sylvari since I don’t like looking at rotting trees?
Why gw2 don’t have a mech thats been around in mmorpg for a very long. Chain attacks that hit nearby target for increasingly damage within certain range or an aoe attacks that does more or less damage depending on how many ppl are stacking. That way you can have fun bosses that required both stacking and breaking away from each other.
AOEs in the game as is do that.
Go look at Balthazar – he drops warbanners and aoe fields that can kill you in 5 seconds.
I think AOEs alone are enough for this game when you consider balance.
My issue is thus:
I need the supply bags to get shards… but saving civilians (which is sort of the object of the event) is less than rewarding (for bags) in comparison to zerging or event farming simply due to the distinctly fewer kills in a lot of instances.
You see a lot of people yelling that people need to save more civilians. Perhaps if you got a supply bag for every one (or every 3 or something) you helped get out (you encouraged, or rezzed), then people would be more inclined to help in that portion of the event. Might even make some of the rubble runners pause to rez or encourage…
Unfortunately that would result in “save-stealing” (a play on kill stealing)
They should have made each district an event of it’s own (i.e. save 15/15 citizens) that rewards a chest with 5 bags.
I for one would like to know where these mobs with super high respawn rates are
Because I’d like to farm them.
She is drilling down to the leylines to consume the magic energy
But in doing so, Mordremoth gets summoned (maybe the Pale Tree turns into Mordremoth) and ends up killing Scarlet, then flies off into the Maguuma Jungle
Expansion confirmed.
Before they nerfed the counter to 1500 to 1200, precursors were dropping like flies on map chat, as were all the rare items like Monocoles and jet packs. I saw a few precursors reported in guild chat.
When they nerfed it to 1200, understandably they had to nerf the rewards as well.
I contacted Anet a few weeks ago and they told me about $900.
The important thing to take away from this (speculation) is that since China will be synchronized LS-wise with NA, and the fact that they just ended closed beta, we may not see the next LS season until open beta ends in China and they officially release.
Open betas usually last a few months, and no announcement has been made for official release, so the next LS season may not start anytime soon.
Expect it to come out mid summer
Correct. only gives extra exp on non-discovery combines or refinements
What’s your point?
How convenient you forgot this line at the bottom:
“As always, the content above is subject to change as we test and iterate on these systems.”
You can pull in 7-10G + on average per hour currently with ease in this game with little to no effort and zero risk.
“zero risk” is a subjective thing, but ok.
I have yet to see 5g in an hour without an exotic drop, and that’s doing world champ trains. Yellows aren’t worth dirt, and the T6 drop rate is abysmal (which I can’t sell anyway, since I have other goals, like gathering T6 mats to build a legendary).
I’ve seen a lot of people claiming you can make mad amounts of gold “just playing the game casually”, but I’ve never seen a single one of those claims hold true when I chase it. The only one that’s been golden is TP flipping.
Depends on what you mean by ‘casually’
If you mean by not farming and doing different things in game, from dungeons to meta trains to crafting and gathering, then yes, I can see making mad amounts of gold to be somewhat difficult.
But if you mean casually as in only having 2 hours a day to play, you can absolutely make lots of gold.
Did you forget about the refugee in Lornar’s Pass that is crying because her child died?
Her default size is already smaller than a miniature. A miniature version of her would look like an ant.
Which is why we need one!!
If you want to try and join MEDx overflows, which are usually organized to get to 1200 citizens (and complete miasmas a few times), enter LA at the 9 minute mark.
Which servers overflows and specific time they have a higher chance in succeeding? Jade quarry and blackgate isn’t cutting it.
MEDx doesn’t guest to any server. They operate purely on overflows and enter at the 9 minute mark to get in a fresh one.
All rewards in this game are based around loot. But we never have any use for the loot. Gear progression is capped and the best skins are specifically farmed for/purchased
.
Keep dropping crafting materials – but please introduce a loot system that we can actually use…
You may not have any use for that loot, but other people do.
The beauty of a free market.
“Starting off at the shallow end of the pool I’ve been doing some flipping on mats since they can be moved fast and have little risk involved with them. However making several extra silver for an hour’s work sitting next to the TP doesn’t seem to be worth it”
I’m not a flipper (more of a speculator), but you have to consider that the profit you get from trading high-velocity commodities is largely based on volume.
If you are only getting a few silver pre hour on this particular item, consider making bulk purchases.
Of course, you mention that you are a newbie at this, so your capital may not be large to begin with, but don’t be discouraged – it takes money to make money.
->Because I’m a paying customer
And I guess that entitles you to know everything and anything about the game? If we’re going to go that far, why don’t you go to Seattle and get past the doors and claim that since you pay for the game, you are entitled to walk through their offices and act like you own the place? After all, you are paying their salaries, right?
You pay the right to play the game, nothing more. You are not owed anything more than that.
-> Because if they don’t have a plan, they are grossly incompetent. Are you suggesting they are grossly incompetent?
I like how you use the word ‘plan’ but don’t understand it.
In the business world we have two related terms. “Plan” and “Actuals”. Plans are forecasts and goals. They are not set in stone and are subject to change. Actuals are forecasts and goals that are set in stone and will be met.
If you cannot understand that, please do say so, as I can provide simple examples.
->Do you think there is a possibility of giving something other than a particular day? Perhaps a range that has both a begin date and an end date. March-April is better than “sometime after today”, which is basically what they’ve said.
2 months range isn’t enough. Things change. Go look at precursor crafting and new legendaries, which was planned as far back as June 2013 and has yet to be released but will more than likely be released in the content drop.
I mean, if people are outraged right now over something that Anet didn’t say but random people in the community said to be true, then imagine how outraged people would be if they specified it would drop in March-April but had to be postponed?
->You defend ANet at every turn. Uou cannot look at the situation rationally and recognize they really dropped the ball in terms of communication with the community. Are you some kind of shill for ArenaNet
This is not about defending Anet but more about criticizing people here who have irrational expectations and analysis at the ‘situation’ at hand.
I have criticized Anet plenty in the past, ranging from shelt/pen nerfs to the watchwork pick.

I like the story she gave and she is commendable.
But from a gameplay and fairness standpoint, it’s ill-advised to hand out special rewards to unique individuals based on a disability, as that creates ill-advised drama.
e.g.
-Why only X disability and why not Y disability?
-I have disability Z, can I have a mini too?
-I have disability Z (when I really don’t), can I have one too?
I agree that Anet could at least sell a special Taimi mini with a portion of the proceeds going to charity. That is the best of both worlds.
I believe this was done in WoW and was a huge disaster as newbies would use it and boost up to level 80 without knowing how to play their character or the game.
I think there was recent news about that how you can buy max level for $60. I think it was tailored more for those people who want alts or other classes without having the need to grind through the story again.
I use a n52te gaming pad for playing, a random keyboard for typing, and a wireless mouse with extra buttons for utility skills.
I use a two monitor set-up. The main 28" monitor has the game while the secondary 22" monitor has my excel spreadsheets, metaevent trackers and browsers.
TLDR
If you don’t like the game, don’t play it. If you still tried this game months later and you still don’t like it, don’t play it. 99% chance the game does not suit you. Do not force yourself on it.
Champs aren’t even the focus for LA farmers.
When I farm LA, I farm for exp (when on alt) and supply bags…
Why do you deserve to know the date of the patch?
Why do you think Anet themselves know about the date of the patch?
These things change and if they say it releases on date X when in fact they have to postpone it until x+1, can you imagine how annoyed people will be?
It’s your fault for expecting it to the on the 18th when they never said that.
Gee all my friends tell me that I should expect new legendaries are going to come out tomorrow, and when they don’t, I guess I should write up a post about how incensed and disappointed I’am that Anet didn’t release them on my terms!
(edited by Vol.7601)
you can farm linen from bags and scrap in iron marches. there is a quest where charr will attack a bridge. Its before the fire shaman meta. The more player there the higher the event will scale.
you can average about 40-60 linen scraps. in about 30 min.
however do this at your risk as there are rumors that Anet will ban you. I personally think the wont but who know….
What’s with all the “rumors” about anet banning players for farming something in game? Seriously, are you saying now we can’t play the game and i should first check the forums, before i join some event in open world? Don’t believe this nonsense.
There is a difference between farming mobs and farming mobs using an exploit.
(before I get infracted, I’m not implying people are using exploits here but this is the reason why farming/bans often get lumped together)
I just find it very odd is all. If I was the lead designer for Guild Wars 2 I wouldn’t even give the ok for a release unless that was in the game. Attention to detail is what really makes an MMO shine. At this point they can’t possibly have a good reason to not have it by this point, and if they DO? I want to hear it.
Thank goodness you’re not the lead designer than. Waiting to release a game or any type of software until it’s 100% perfection is impossible. You’ll be dead before then.
The demand for major runes is largely on individuals who wish to gamble for the superior versions.
Lately, however, people have been stocking up a lot more to gamble when the sigil/rune changes come out in March/April. This is a much safer investment than investing in any particular rune/sigil.
I will release a comprehensive guide next month on how to make 8-12G hour, for reals..
Does anyone know if this means a guardian that doesn’t use any virtues has the MF buff up permanently?
He’s not insane, he’s just drinking Elonian Wine and encouraging others to do the same.
The game needs more gold sinks, anyway.
Why do people think it’s a single person? Just as likely people who were selling at current low sell price piling on. 37g is a nice even number that was much higher than where it was a day or two before.
Then how come we didn’t see 5 figures at 38s? 36s? 35s?
You will not get an answer because before a dev can write up a response they will be unfairly bashed by the rabid sPvP community who think they are entitled to promises being fulfilled that were never promised, resulting in a closed thread.
Wow you guys are acting all entitled here.
Mod should just close this thread before I get myself infracted again for pointing out all the misguided posts
I think every player should be reading patch notes. There is simply no way to fit every single detail in game without cluttering or confusing.
farm gold to buy them. Purposely trying to farm certain materials does not work and is largely inefficient.
We keep having this type of thread pop up, so I’ll keep posting this redpost here from the devs themselves:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/CDI-Character-Progression-Vertical/page/28#post3384259
Whether you like it or not, it’s a reasonable analysis.
It’s just a theory but Mordemoth has not even been confirmed to exist either and I only thought up this theory based on the evidence I’ve seen in game
It has been confirmed by Colin awhile back that there is a Jungle dragon. We also infer it’s name since Subject Alpha uses skill attacks with reference to dragon names, one of them being Teeth of Mordremoth.
Place buy orders if you are not desperate. They always get filled.
Just overcut the highest buy order by 1c and you’re good to go.
SoR died before EotM, stop blaming things for the sake of blaming.
Are we going to blame LA rescue for SoR dying as well?
Simple, easily considered stupid, question:
Do toons need to be a certain level in order to earn 500 in crafting?
Yes, they have to be level 10 before they can reach 500.
Time to take my new harvester, which looks suspiciously like a wine barrel, and harvest some grapes. Unfortunately aren’t grapes time gated?
Thanks for the tip!
I just finished crafting to 500 leatherworking (used crafting boosters from the start) on a new toon (toon was level 2 when I started crafting), my new toon made it to level 10 on the way to 400 crafting – so it’s possible to level to 500 crafting starting with a level 2 toon, don’t waste time trying to level your toon first.
Hope this helps others ;-)
Had you started with a level 0 character, you would have been level 10 upon reaching 500.
You have to get through the first mission to get to a crafting station. Atthat point, you are lvl 2.
Have you tried spawning a guild crafting station in the starting instance? :P
They don’t sell those anymore, do they?
One person spammed multiple crafting stations on Tequatl just to troll us – in addition to all the banners and trays.
This is something Anet more than likely has considered in the past and will more than likely implement in the future if prices for lower tier mats get out of hand long-term.
The best gold sinks are the ones that players will happily partake in because the costs overall seem small. TP fees and waypoints are inconsequential to most, but they soak up excess money. The Mystic Forge eats a lot of wealth, but people keep playing it despite the odds because there is that chance of hitting a jackpot. Making costs onerous like jacking up waypoint costs to ridiculous levels not only would make players balk but it would not even be as effective anymore as the cheaper wp system due to people who would choose to walk instead (and gather more mats and kill mobs for loot along the way, creating yet more items and money that may otherwise have been ignored).
You know, I don’t frequently think about the Mystic Forge, but now that you mention it, it occurs to me that the MF actually serves to increase prices.
By destroying 75% of the products that are gambled in the MF, you are seeing no change in money supply, but an overall reduction in product available for sale.
Yeah there is an opportunity cost for the forge.
Those three item you forged do not get sold, and so the economy loses a chance to remove 15% of the value from those three items.
