I make 8-12 g/h.

Weekdays I make about 50 G in 5 hours.

Depending on how long I play on weekends, I make 200G.

So every week I hardcore farm 450 gold.

I’m not normally greedy, but I do not share my farm spots since Anet loves to nerf whatever I do, and more people doing what I do doesn’t exactly help me make gold.

stop removing things from the gem store

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Vol.7601

Vol.7601

If I were the director of Anet sales department, I would keep it the way as it is.

Here is the business side of things:

Investors and anyone running a business prefer steady sales trend rather than unpredictable, haphazard ones.

If Anet were to keep these skins on the gem store permanently, what would the trend look like? They would have very high initial sales, and then it drops off from that. Sales are good, but it messes with your forecasts and year over year figures, which would look bad to non-players, specifically investors.

By removing these seasonal skins, Anet can effectively drive up sales over two periods. The first period of course, is when the skins make their debut. Anet can drive plenty of sales for that particular month.

The second period is when the skins come back.

Now is this far-fetched? Nope. Here is an example.

Now let’s say the sales department is looking at their forecasts for the 1st half of 2014. They predict that sales will be drastically down in March 2014 compared to March 2013 because they do not have any items in the pipeline to release in that month. So what they can do to adjust the forecast is to re-release these skins during that month to at the very least comp to 2013.

In the real world you can consider this manipulation of sales. I’m no accountant (I planned on being one before I failed cost accounting miserably), but these are some of the tricks companies use to tailor their income statements. In the extreme side of things, there is something called Hollywood accounting which turns highly profitable movies in actuality to massive losses on paper.

Silver/Gold/Platinum will go back up, this I’m sure of.

Last time it went up due to speculators in January.

There is still room for it to go up from:
-speculators hyping up content patch
-the actual jewel 500 itself

There are repeated questions, as always, as to how would Anet approach 500 jewelcrafting when there are already ascended weapons out there.

Anet could always make lvl 500 jewelcrafting a pre-requisite for infusing backpieces and accessories, let alone make it a factor in making the legendary trinkets that were talked about in September.

As always, as self-disclosure, I have lots of investments in the above

So after reviewing this a bit, I believe those who have controlled the conduit market have actually profited off this whole ordeal.

Despite the absurd 1500g or so listing they had, even accounting for the wasted fees, they have essentially pushed up the price of conduits by an average of 100G.

I only have 1. I don’t intend to sell it no matter the price. Did you hoard any?

lol nope, but I do have one since release that I have sparingly used. I had guildies ask me months back if it were a good investment. I told them no for the very reasons I said above – and besides, is it really worth that much money for the time savings? No.

A guildy also suggested that maybe people are speculating about conduits because Anet will destroy it on Monday. I do not think this is a good reason and Anet won’t inconvenience the population that much.

Quite hilarious. I have been watching this market for quite awhile and it was around 220-250 in terms of buy orders for quite awhile. Then it shot up to 500g sell price yesterday to what it is now.

Buy order price however is at an all time high at 400g.

Considering that conduits are resellable, I really must wonder what % of conduits are in the hands of people who actually use it, vs the hoarders.

I never expected the price of conduits to rise over 500G because of the resell ability.

edit: it also shows that buy listing have grown dramatically, so I suspect people are trying to get this item again on the Top Demanded Items. I suppose buy order prices will keep going up as people fall in the trap.

Buying/Selling AB Legendary Components

I’m interested in this as well. I also thought about selling them, and I think the price may be half of the gift of fortune, maybe cheaper.

I haven’t done any research on this, and I don’t know of anybody willing to do this.

The problem here would be for the buyer, I mean, if I was the buyer, why should I trust you?

Well it would have to be amongst trusted people. i.e. guildies you know of for a long time and have done past business with. If they have no plans for making a legendary, you really could take advantage of that. You can even expand your potential pool by inquiring major guild leaders. Risk of getting scammed is smaller due to reputation, although of course that depends on the type of guild they are.

Buying/Selling AB Legendary Components

in Crafting

Vol.7601

I don’t know anyone who has, but I know what I would be willing to pay for them.

First off, of course, I would need to trust the person. But then I think I would offer 600g (probably depending on the legendary, and how much it meant to me, though). For account bound materials. However, I would also supply the ectos and mystic coins for clover tries.

Yes, I cannot remember where I saw it (here or reddit), but people were discussing selling the AB portions between 300-500G.

wvw and dungeon tokens I do not give any value to, since they are easy to get (well they do have value, but dwarfed by the estimate values for map completion and karma)

Skill points can be valued at current promotion prices (no more than 100g if I recall)
Karma is harder to quantify since it’s rarer. Let’s say I value karma alone at 200G
Map completion is the most difficult, and I think I would value alone at 300g.

So 600G is indeed a fair estimate.

If that is the case, there is no room for profit at all. If we were to use Twilight, it costs 1910G. Add the AB fee and it’s 2510G. No room for profit and absolutely not worth the risk.

Quality of kit does not affect salvaging, I believe – at least, only in terms of salvaging ectos. Not sure with salvaging weapons/armors.

If you look at the wiki research data, the amount of luck and dust you get from salvaging ectos is largely the same across kits. I wish I had known this before I wasted forge stones on 4000 mystic kits.

Buy orders for Major Runes

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Vol.7601

Vol.7601

agreed. do not do it every night. it’s even more mind-numbing than champ farming, if you can believe that.
sometimes I wish you could put, for example, 4 stacks of 250 runes in the MF and get 250 random runes out (same chance of superior, so ~50 superior and 200 major). But then I remember that if that were the case, everyone would be MFing runes and sigils to the point it’s anti-profitable (not just not profitable, but actually cheaper to buy the superior you want than make it with majors)

I think it’s just to make it easier on the servers.

If Anet were to do it that way, you’d have 250 calculations all at once. Multiply that with hundreds of players possibly doing it at the same time, and well, it can get pretty laggy.

I guess that’s why we have the mystic forge as opposed to crafter.

Crafting results are guaranteed, and as such, calculations are minimal.

Meanwhile mystic forge results are RNG, and as such, require calculations.

It’s not ideal, of course.

Investment potential for Sweetheart skins?

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Vol.7601

Vol.7601

These skins are at the extreme end at ‘seasonal’ status, so you can expect they will come out with them in 2015.

I’m extremely biased because I think seasonal items are ugly when worn out of season and the hearts do not do any justice. Or maybe I just hate these ‘lovey-dovey’ skins and I prefer more regal and dignifying skins.

But putting aside my bias, the fact that ticket requirements will go up and that the risk of re-introduction under a year is small, it would seem to be a good investment. The only problem is the demand side – will people actually continue to buy these type of skins, say, 6 months down the line? Also keep in mind that anyone and everyone knows about investing in these skins and you will be competing with a lot of people who want their share

Vigil keep makes the most sense lore and gameplay wise.

How, in either sense? It is a military keep, and while they may be able to support some refugee population outside the walls, it is in no way adequate to assume the role of a major player hub and trade center.

Gameplay? Go look how big it is, and get back to me. Unless the plan to put all of this in Gendarran zone/external keep.

It makes no sense at all. It is just “convenient”.

Well it’s the best according to proximity. There are no other large towns nearby. It also makes sense lore wise considering that the vigil is a military force and can help police and maintain order from all the displaced refugees. I doubt the Norn would be happy with all these criminals or ex-pirates invading their hometown.

And yes, Vigil’s keep is too small. But like any refugee camp, they don’t necessarily occupy the building – they occupy the land around it.

Expect the area around Vigil’s keep to truly look like a refugee camp. They could have makeshift crafting spots and vendors selling their wares. They can put all the misplaced NPC’s all around “BY OGDEN’S HAMMER, WHERES MY SAVINGS?!” while keeping all the portals inside the keep.

maybe fuse it with gendarran or bloodtide, who knows, maybe it magically gets fixed after the battle, maybe it was all a ruse, an illusion by the mesmer squad from DR

I think what will likely happen in the last patch is that somehow the dragon will be awakened in Lion’s Arch, and through a cinematic, he will fly west out of the map in the direction of the Maguuma Jungle.

In the meantime, his champion (Scarlet) will become a 2-week-long boss fight that you will eventually kill. At the end of this all, LA will be a pile of burning mess with related dynamic events involving clearing out remaining enemies, fighting back looters and such.

hmm how is it worth it?? i mean salvage kit come in 25 stack.. carry 100 only take 4 slot.. plus as you salvage it goes down pretty fast.. before you run out you will surely find an npc to resupply them..

as for function, it cost 3 copper per use, which is almost exactly the same of basic salvage kit per unit price…

hmm confusing…someone please explain, thanks

Its .5 cheaper overall so in the end it pays itself off. (I have used it well over 1000 times) so i saved over 500c so far and it hasn’t even been out over a year. On top of that it takes only 1 slot rather than your 4 slots. Also don’t need to run to a merchant to buy more kits.

yea..but the item is like 60g+.. you save like 0.5 copper per use…. likely will take few years of dedicate usage to cover up the price…

btw.. 1g = 10000 copper.. this kit is 800gem, which is like 65G+ at current price..

65g = 650000 copper / 0.5 (unit saving) = 130,0000

say you salvage 100 per day.. it will take 13000 days or 35 years to cover up the cost.. sure if you salvage 1000 a day it only take 3.5 years.. but can you really salvage 1000 per day??

Overall it’s more about convenience/efficiently than cost-savings.

If you want to get 300% MF through ectos for example, you absolutely need to get the kit to save you any personal injuries.
