I think you are missing a much more obvious reason for this decline.

People were very angry with the NPE patch, and the smack in the face to veteran players that they saw it as. Many players quit with the launch of this feature patch. There are simply less people playing the game now.

Demand is dropping because there are less players. Sell prices are increasing because there are less players to farm the mats in the first place.

Arent the majority of the community PvE players? Miniature collectors, living story heroes, etc.? I dont mean to insult any1 as I’m no1 to tell others what to enjoy in this game… but did the changes really hurt the majority? Did they subvert fractal/dungeon mechanics, did any class get a serious pve nerf?

I dont think that the rightful moaning of the PvP community is enough to explain such a great decline in TP activity. PvE players stayed, didnt they?

I found the feature patch to be very underwhelming, and the announcement that the next content update would be in November pretty much put this game on hiatus.

They expect me to kill my time in WvW, but it’s been the same thing for the past few years, so how can they expect me to remain interested in the 8 week long match-up?

It doesn’t help that I have everything I want in the game and nothing to work towards, but I guess that’s my fault for rushing content and not taking my time.

In the meantime, I too am playing Archeage and enjoying it tremendously, so I don’t expect to be playing GW2 steadily until November.

So do we have to provide visual proof or can we just report it and you investigate the chat logs?

Also, is this situation sufficient proof to send?

IMO, economy is good.

Yes, prices are inflated, in some cases higher than 100%. But this is not due to currency inflation but due to demand inflation.

Unfortunately, however, gold acquisition has been nerfed considerably over the past 2 years.

Actually want happened was there was a quest where you could only complete it one at a time, and you can imagine what happens when dozens of people on release compete for the same quest. To keep it orderly the folks on that server decided to queue

I like AA, but one thing I do sorely miss from GW2 is

1.) Lack of queues
2.) Shared loot and credit
3.) Shared nodes
4.) Gold sinks
5.) Trading post. Srsly, Old TP in GW2 was real good and spoiled me too much.

1.) Wii sucks and will never run GW2
2.) Certification of patches would delay content releases
3.) Spending immense resources on coding for Wii when the potential playerbase is small

And there are half a dozen more reasons why.

and if you didn’t know, you could easily build a computer that runs GW2 at around $400. I certainly hope you are not one of those consumers that buys the ready-made gaming PC’s at 60% mark-up from bestbuy. PC building is easy.

I’m going back on hiatus from GW2 and heading over to Archeage. but I really don’t know if I should sell the large skulls all now for 60s or wait until it hits +1g.

There really is only one place to farm large skulls and it’s not at all efficient, so.

I hope I come back a few months down the line and these are +40g a piece as well ;P

Now that key farming is difficult, the market will correct itself. The prices of skins will rise to the point that those who do wish to key farm will profit well.

I don’t like it but I wouldn’t make such a big deal about it to post here.

As wanze said, salvage o matic is incredibly useful. Bag space is also very important later all, but keep in mind that you not only can buy extra slots from the gem store, but you can buy bigger slot bags from the TP. You may want to convert some gems to gold to purchase them

BTW, how do you find the new player experience so far? Reviews are overwhelmingly negative – at least for veterans.

Do you not realize your hypocritical nature in this? First you want access to the old skins, which would destroy their value.

And then you complain that the drop rate was increased for the monkey one, and you don’t like it because it destroyed it’s value.

You have to access a TP merchant on the map to access that. Some maps have TP merchants available on them (like bloodtide coast) but usually you have to head to the cities to pick-up items.

I think their focus groups were too focused on people who don’t play games.

Who is more likely to play GW2? A non-gamer or a gamer?

Anet screwed up kitten these changes, but I don’t expect them to change it.

I don’t like the version so far.

I salvage a lot of rares, which ends up giving me a ton of rare sigils. Having to sell them one by one is brutal. Old TP made it pretty easy.

Now I’m just going to be saving up all my sigils in my inventory and selling them each week rather than when I get them.

furthermore, that giant notification you get when you successfully list an item sometimes takes awhile to load. Surely they should have used something less graphic intensive, like a little text notification?

So the items that I invested in didn’t go up, although I hope Anet regularly releases new collections with each LS release.

On the other hand, I just checked the price of Large Skulls, what the heck happened with that? I had 5 stacks and I bought them when they were like 2s.

You want to make gold now? Well the patch starting tomorrow has made the world boss train somewhat lucrative, as the exotic drops from the physical chests have value now due to collections.

See this is why I think Anet needs to be concerned about nerfing grinding/farming.

Veterans like me, who have played since release, have had many opportunities to make tremendous amounts of gold. We can easily afford all the heritage items like legendaries & meta legendaries, while also being able to afford any new skins or armor sets.

But new players have it hard, as they can only gain gold from events that have been neutered to the point that they pale in comparison to the old gold per hour rates of the past.

How did I make most of my gold? The percentage is split somewhat evenly between farming, speculation and luck.

I stared off with my wealth with successful speculation of items that went up in value. I invested heavily in ancient bones and profited off from that.

After gaining good capital, I made myself a few legendaries. But I also realized that wealth was attainable through farming. I farmed all events you can imagine – and all of them have been nerfed. All that farming netted my 3 more legendaries.

And then after getting settled down with 5 legendaries and tricked out characters, I decided to splurge thousands of gold on gambling for precursors. My count since the start of the game is 10 precursors, half of them Dusks.

So as you can see, wealth generation is a combination of luck and ‘hard’ work. Unfortunately for new players, in order to get luck, you need to do all the ‘hard’ work, which is harder than before.

Same thing that happened to the Charr clipping protest.

How aren’t they unique? They’re a special class of exotics that separates it from the rest. Although you can go both ways on the interpretation of this, including that we’re getting a new set of skins that we haven’t seen before.

BL skins will never be that expensive, unless we’re talking about skins that will remain to be unreleased.

BL skins as they are pre patch were incredibly undervalued, as the price was depressed by key farmers. The alternative to key farming, gambling with actual gem purchases, was incredibly inefficient cost wise.

The change of the lvl 10 to lvl 20 storyline will even things out to a more fair price.

And yes, ‘fair’ involves both buyers and sellers, not just buyers who want everything cheap. Sellers want a fair price to make a profit.
