You decided to gamble and lost. Tough luck.
I’m going to the casino this Saturday and I fully intend to gamble a few hundred away. But if I come out losing, am I going to get mad at the house? Nope.
If you could have got a precursor for under 1000g invested, then precursors wouldn’t be priced over 1000g.
You should have took that gold and ran away with it, especially since you were so incredibly lucky to get it on the first try.
Any type of crafted precursor system would rely HEAVILY on Laurels in order to avoid negative market impacts.
We’re talking at least 500 Laurels.
I think I’d rather have it utilize other time-gated components while also buffing semi-rare and undervalued items
i.e.
-Lump of Mithrillium (time gate)
-Mystic Coins (boosts value of an item that should be valuable since we get one per day, ignoring the TP)
Item: Poutine
Stats on consume:
+100 Constipation
+80 No Regrets
Lasts 30 minutes in the bathroom
sigh
why would you have a kickstarter for a game studio owned by a publicly traded company?
It’s like running a kickstarter to give General Motors funds to develop a supercar under the Chevrolet brand.
This isn’t very well thought out
The current price suggests that it’s not impossible.
It’s not worth it.
You would have to load extra assets in the game. Imagine having to load 5 additional pieces for each player? Sure they are small, indistinguishable details but the game still has to load it and transmit it. FPS lag would be unbearable.
And when you factor in that almost nobody would even notice these details…it’s just not worth it.
Ya well this is exactly what happens when you leave the precursor as the last thing to get. It becomes a psychological barrier that is difficult to overcome.
I don’t think collection expander is worth it, especialyl with the alternatives. You could just dump any excess mats you get on to your alts (assuming you are not an alto-holic).
If you are a hoarder I definitely suggest character slots, and perhaps convert some of that gems to gold so that you could fund a personal guild bank for more storage.

48 isn’t a lot. It costs under 1g per piece now, which shows it’s not all that rare.
It’s never really intended to go out and farm every single piece for whatever you want to craft.
If you did that with legendaries, for example, it would take a year to get all your materials without buying from the TP.
I didn’t really notice it when I played mesmer but after playing elementalist a bit it leads me to ask: Why isn’t everything on fire? I try to save people from a burning orphanage in the pstory, but somehow my own flames don’t compound the problem, and my water doesn’t put it out.
So I’m looking for some lore explanation rather than thus sayeth Anet. Or even a wild theory with no basis in lore.
Why would you want a lore explanation? Sometimes it’s best that some things do not mimic real life for the sake of gameplay.
Would you like a lore expanation on why Queensdale and other Kryta areas have green grass? Surely you would think all the thousands of elementalists would have burnt the grass by now?
I hate the awkward and cliche interactions between Brahm/Eir at the end of their storyline. They make it sound like they are a couple but it’s a mother/son relationship darnit.
Enough with the “yeah..” or “so yeaahh” or “umm”.
Very cliche, we don’t need that junk here.
Is it horrible if Trahearne ends up getting killed?
I bought the first ever unlimited tool released and I still have not recouped the costs.
But since it has allowed me to have the piece of mind that I will never have to buy another pick again, it’s worth it.
Is Dry Top old news for people already?
You guys are mixing up megaservers with bugged events.
The “macros are not allowed” is a blanket statement designed to protect Anet.
Yes, these instrument macros are not allowed.
But is Anet going to do anything about it? Very unlikely, since it’s not harmful to the game.
But hey, feel free to report the player if that makes you feel good and righteous
You have a keylogger installed on your computer.
It tracks everything that you type.
You can even type your credit card in notepad and they would figure it out. You don’t necessarily have to make a purchase on a site, whether it be GW2, a bank or amazon.

-Log on to all my alts to get the puzzle chest
-Log off and play D3
The economy in this game fails. Not because the economy itself fails, it fails because the economy has no symbiotic relationship to the possibilities of the playerbase.
Or how can you explain that some people can get 100 legendaries and the most not even one? The system how it is at the moment does NOT fit to the game. The normal way of farming is not competitive with the TP.
Because those people who can afford all those legendaries worked hard for it?
I don’t know about you guys, but quaggan meat sounds delicious.
No wonder the krait hunt them!
how do you refrain from refining the Lump of Mithrillium and others?
538 total unrefined!
unlike the account-bound ascended mats, those become useful once refined.
It’s good to refrain from refining the lump in case it is required in future items.
Precursor crafting is one such possiblity.
If Anet wanted to prevent or lessen the shock precursor crafting would result in, they would time gate it. Imagine if the recipe called for 15 lump of mithrillium? You would have to wait 15 days if you didn’t craft it, as opposed to this guy who could attempt it on the day of the patch.
Realistically 7000 dragonite ore is only about 2-3 months worth of daily temple runs if you do like 3 a day. I used to run much more/day than that before megaservers but it was all specific goal oriented, aimlessly saving/refining is just not smart. What if Anet adds a new recipe for the unrefined ore?
Don’t forget that you get a ton of Dragonite from the world boss train. One full train would net you 1-2 stacks of dragonite ore.
instead of complaining about 1 pickaxe having an advantage above the rest, why not think of alternative stuff other pick axes can get.
for instance, destroyer cores from the molted pickaxe and kakra shells from the bone pickaxe……just an example.
Because it’s incredibly hard to balance?
What do you think is easier, assuming we have 6 unique pick axes in game, including the Watchwork?
Applying and balancing rewards to the remaining 5 picks
or
removing the reward for the watchwork pick
The watchwork pick never should have given an extra reward considering the previous ones were always simply vanity and convenience items.
Feature patch next month
hopefully
Since when is cooperation required in dungeons? ;/
My guestimate:
We will have a feature patch in August. It will involve, at the minimum, new legendaries as well as 500 jewelcrafting which will allow you to make infused accessories and amulets. 500 jewelcrafting will also be required to make the new legendary backpieces (which Colin eluded to be one of the options back at Pax)
In addition to the feature patch, we get old content such as Dragon Bash.
This ties perfectly with our current story since we could have one of Mordremoth’s champions rain down our party and disrupt Dragon Bash.
The only problem, however, is deciding where to host Dragon Bash. You can’t exactly do it in LA.
Here’s hoping that it happens in Rata Sum.
If we do not get Dragon Bash, then I think SAB is just as likely, though it would have to be tied into the current story as it would seem awkward to have such an event placed between a tense story.
Maybe they could say that Taimi has returned to Rata Sum to undergo some final studying. And through this, she teams up with Moto to investigate and solve problems which will help her solve the WP problems.
Maybe it’s time to double all my buys
my gold is sitting there doing nothing but slowly depreciating.
Why in the world are you wasting all that karma to refine?
The most you should have really is a stack. I saved up only 50 and have started to throw out any excess materials I get.
Anet is very unlikely to design a system that would require so many materials.
“2) RNG as implemented isn’t fair.
Nope, life ain’t fair. GW2 is not life, it is a game. It is entertainment. Frustration is not fun.”
Isn’t gambling entertainment? Casinos? Racetracks? Believe it or not, some people like gambling because it’s fun and entertaining.
And you’re forgetting the 3rd negative, which is abuse.
You could have two PvE guilds doing guild missions competing against one another. Drama shortly follows.
Guild A, which could be full of baddies, asks all guildies to ‘denounce’ the other commander. Furthermore they may make it a guild requirement for everyone to ‘respect’ their commanders everyday.
At that point the system loses all integrity.
I would suggest a system where there is no way to ‘denounce’ a commander. Every commander instead has the ability to move forward/up in ranks.
edit: forgetting, not ignoring, sorry
How do they gain ranks? By having players join their squad. Any events/kills completed while under the commander’s squad results in commander points which unlock better perks, such as more varied commander icon designs.
Does this mean that commanders with more zerglings will get rewarded more so than those that run with a few people? Sure, but I think that is fair considering how much more difficult it is to control an entire zerg.

I have a feeling we will be getting a feature patch very shortly…maybe in late August of early September.
The market will be very volatile and fun to watch.
Please no.
I have a hard time already seeing skillanimations. And i sometimes even get migraine from that falshing stuff. For example the Scarlet-Holo-fight and that kitten sigill of fire.. gosh. My eyes bled out.
And on the other side it would drive the price for precurser (which legendaries also would be in that case) even higher. Imagine some new player – they will never catch up with inflatation.
The only solution to have something “fair” would be to have just accoundbound stuff. So u can actually show that u DID smt for it. Not just having good luck or a good amount of money.
Give us some new Legendaries – so the old and new gamers have something to gather.
But dont use the existing ones for any more fancy stuff.
A new player – a reasonable one – would expect a legendary to be a long-term goal and not something to wrorry about in terms of short term price fluctuations
Furthermore, the items that the new player would collect and sell (copper, iron, ore, salvaged greens/blues) would also rise and keep up with inflation.
Go clover gambling but hope you don’t get clovers…though since you are at least considering a legendary in the future it doesn’t hurt to get them.
It’s pretty much impossible to reward it the same as everything else. How do you balance the X chests in game with dungeons or WvW? Heck, there still is a pretty hard way of balancing more popular stuff like dungeon running and WvW.
As aluded to above, the best thing they can do is merely reward stuff that has no affect on the economy. They could release bound skins or other special items, like mini’s, tonics, or even reward a set of titles.
I’m curious John, do you have gold sink options readily available to implement in the game if you choose to?
e.g. let’s say for example one patch results in an activity which increases inflation way more than you’d like
You then make a suggestion that in the next patch, you would release a gold sink (dynamic) that would help quickly fix things.
I’m trying hard to think of other dynamic sinks that you can introduce (aside from the robotron donation gold sink). All I can think of are:
-Karma/gold exchange
-50/50 weekly draw
Kiel getting elected reduced waypoint costs for a few weeks (thanks a lot Kiel voters…silly bookahs)
Repair costs got removed in the April feature patch
So what exactly do you want at the end of the cave? Precursor? 5g?
Easiest solution to everyone’s problems is to have the chests drop items from a smaller loot table. For starters no blues, everything at minimum green. But better yet of course would be a 50/50 chance to get a Rare, and maybe a 1/10 chance to get an exotic. Chests would be a once a day thing, or they could have them spawn randomly who knows.
Right now chests typically yield 2 blues, or 1 blue and 1 green, or a blue and a green orb or something. Nothing you can do anything with other than salvage or sell to vendor. In most cases you get far better loot killing monsters leading up to the chest than what is in the actual chest. That seems a bit odd to me.
If you start introducing a greater drop chance for a rare, that would result in a drop in price for globs. It also will entice more players to go chest hunting, and dulfy would probably come up with a chest train guide that would push ectos further. Right now you probably think having a rare drop is a good thing since it can be priced anywhere from 40s to 70s, but that price is not going to be in that range if this happens.
The best thing Anet can do to make this have a limited effect on the economy is to introduce achievements or a system like ‘explorer’ tokens where you get tokens from these chests in hard-to-get places. At a certain # you can exchange them for soulbound unique skins.
They can’t radically change skins.
How would you feel if you spent plenty of gold on a skin that you were satisfied with, and Anet suddenly pulled the rug under it and reskinned it to something that you do not like?
Spent about 1000g before getting my precursor (that was when Dusk was 400G)
I can already see how this will end.
The attempted removal of the ghosts will fail, resulting in Adelburn gloating that only a member of his heritage can remove the curse. Thus Rytlock, very reluctantly, will admit he needs Queen Jenna to do it. Rytlock will reach out to Logan and the Queen, and the Queen will refuse, only for the PC to suddenly realize that she isn’t a descendant, possibly accidentally blurting it out loud. Logan and the Shining Blades will get kitteny and pull out their swords, only for you to reveal the existence of the locket that shows the true heir. At this point Jenna will admit she’s not of royal heritage, but her actions helping Kryta and humanity prove she doesn’t need to be. Next chapter after this will be the search for the member of the royal family.
Not far fetched at all.
They could also go the route that the queen is in fact a descendant, and on her way there she gets killed by Mordremoth.
And not everyone wants to do PvE to get their legendary..
Why do people need a carrot? I play games for fun. If you need constant rewards, then playing games isn’t for you…
Unless you want to pay me to play games the way you want me to play, I’ll make my own decisions.
Who knew that some people consider rewards as fun?
Who knew Rytlock was less selfish than Logan
I’m really confused as to what this rant is really all about
btw the other article confirms there will be no new map section unlocked during this episode. But the following patch will.
I see a lot of ppl freaking out on reddit.
What does this signify lore wise? Why is Rytlock suddenly involved?
edit: nvm your article explains it perfectly
