Here’s how I came across all my gold in order since release

-invest in cheap T6 mats back during release
-PvE farming through guesting (which was nerfed in April)…this is where I got most of my gold
-Investing in items hoping for a future increase in price
-Flipping high risk items, like Chaos of Lyssa Recipe for 700g profit
-Gambling on precursors/getting lucky (http://imgur.com/a/csqYt)
-Farming both gold boss blitz and gauntlet chances. Made about 2000g off this since the start of the event (will no longer be available on Tuesday)

Not only do you get a ton of EXP, but you also get champ bags.

Datamined legendary armor doesn’t exist.

The legendary colored armors that were linked to you in chat are placeholder armors that WvW guards wear. They’ve been here since the start of the game.

And gossamer rose because of the buffed reward drop chance

No, you both can’t understand context and took a single word too literally, at the expense of the entire paragraph.
I know all you have to do is log in. The point is, if you miss the event you can’t go back to it. So why have the journal?
If you’ve logged in then you’ve very likely played it anyway. The typical Living Story update can be seen in its entirety after 1-2 hours. After that you’re just grinding out enemies or mini games for rewards.

So many people have been saying, “I wanted to play such and such update of season 1 but I was too busy to play for more than like 5 minutes in the last two weeks”. This is for them and it’s a very welcome addition. I am going on vacation on the 28th until the 16th of next month. I will have to pay gems and am 100% absolutely stoked that I will get to play this as opposed to Season One where I would have missed out entirely. That is who the Journal is for.

And what if you can’t log in AT ALL? What if you go on vacation, travel for work/friends/family, take a break from the game, are a new player completely, too busy with other things in general?
Why arbitrarily bar someone from it in that situation?

It boggles my mind that people are still complaining about a feature that is so much better than it was previously.

You do understand that season 1 operated under “you snooze, you lose”?

At least with season 2, if you have 1 minute to spare to log-in every 2 weeks, you could have access to this content.

Season 1 didn’t even give you that option.

You don’t need an invite to TTS to take advantage of it. Hop on to the teamspeak server and look for taxi’s.

Honestly, there is no advantage to being in a TTS guild. TTS members don’t even get priority when doing teq/wurm.

I hope we will get a new zone next week, but I think it’s best, for storytelling reasons to set everything up in Brisban for this release, and then in the next patch, we make a move into the new zone for whatever reason.

I’m not sure the rares from boxes will be able to garner a greater return than linen.

My main concern is if opening on a lower lvl character means no chances at an ascended box or a precursor. Yeah, the % are low to begin with, but still :|

However, I do have a concern for those with lower graphics. They may be not be able to enjoy this zone, and may be forced to turn off their graphical settings to circumvent this. But that ruins the atmosphere since you can turn it off at will ;/

AFAIK Anet has said they do not plan on adding hearts to the game.

That argument doesn’t apply. You can choose to not play lottery and you wont lose anything. In Guildwars, even opening bags is lottery, as is hoping for drops, opening chests of any kind, using the mystic toilet for half the recipes or the amount of damage you do through precision.

I would just stockpile currencies from one event and then use it on another. I would be able to skip entire content.

This was before they shelved the new legendaries/precursor crafting plans. There is no justification to expect anything substantial to come out in the patch next week.

Do not waste your time banking everything on the precursor when you have everything else to stockpile.

In fact, it is a lot safer to get all your ectoplasm and T6 mats first.

If Anet indeed comes out with precursor crafting next week, then T6 mats will rise substantially because legendaries will now be easily attainable by everyone.

By the time you finish your legendary this game would have come out with newer legendaries and a precursor crafting system.

So I suggest you focus on the other components of the legendary that are easily attainable, like karma, map completion and skill points. you can also save your T6 mats.

I do not suggest you go for the mystic forge, as that route is very expensive. And if you are very poor to begin with, and you gamble everything away, you will end up rage quitting.

Just refine and then store it on another alt.

Unless you are purposely salvaging for more luck, you won’t be running out of inventory space any time soon.

and even if MF affected these boxes, 250 is a pretty insignificant sample size.

I got 4 monocles and a chaos recipe in 500 chances, which is on the upper end of RNG rolls.

I wish there was a way to prioritized rezzing downed players than dead. When a bunch of people are dead/downed in one spot, I don’t want to waste time picking out the dead people.

These unique, rare items are used as currency. Since they rarely drop, this currency can be controlled by a select few players. And only those who have knowledge of the transaction would consider buying the item.

You could call it gold laundering.

E.g. Let’s say I’m a gold selling company and I want to transfer my dirty gold from my bot account to good gold on my main account.

My main account then lists a rare item XYZ for 100g, which I would then purchase with my bot account. The gold gets transferred from dirty into good, and then the bot account transfers back XYZ through other means. Rinse and repeat.

No, it’s only bad for you. For people who sell gems for gold, it’s great.

It’s not ‘pointless’ to grind for legendaries as long as it makes them happy and it helps them reach their goal.

Take a real life analogy. Some people would rather be unemployed, dress like crap and smoke pot all day while not working hard at all, yet they are satisfied. On the other side, you have people working hard at their jobs, making a living and earning enough money to buy all the technology, fashion and cars they’d like. Or you have someone inbetween. Someone who works hard to achieve their goals while at the same time relaxing when it’s appropriate.

No one here is wrong. We all just have different goals/expectations/tastes

Salvage Yakkington’s set (here comes the price rise!)

Yakkingtons, among other specific armors, have a GUARANTEED CHANCE at rolling for an insignia.

I should stress what ‘guaranteed chance’ means. It means that the armor will give you a greater than 0% chance at returning an insignia. Some armors, no matter how expensive they are or whether they have an expensive inscription or not, will never give you an insignia.

With a BL kit, the chance at retrieving an insignia from Yakkington’s is at 50%. If I recall, the insignia you receive is a Dire Intricate Gossamer Insignia, which sells for over 3.5G

So if you have spare BL kits lying around, I would consider throwing them at Yakkington’s. I think you reach +- breakeven with the inscription and include at least 1-2 ectos. The insignia is where you get most of your profit from, but remember, it’s only a 50% chance.

As I eluded to before, there was a time where you could ‘infinitely’ make gold with this, but the popularity of this item and the rise in gem price several months back have made purchasing BL kits a loss venture.

I kind of like the idea that the hoarders who inflate the prices get caught with the short stick at some point. If you’re going by the TP to try to determine the drop rate you may want to consider there’s other factors involved that limit the amount of event items for sale.

Also as far as I have always understood the mechanics of the game the loot in a box is determined at the time it drops and not influenced by time gated factors such as a patch or a magic find buff nor by the level of the character opening it. If it were you would have a lot of people opening bags earned on a high level with a lower level toon to access the more valuable salvage components.

I just wish they would hurry up and rebuild Lion’s Arch so a Risen version of Scarlet a can invade again!
