If you OC that 2500K, you wont see ‘much’ of a gain different between the 3570 or the 4670.
Now if you move to an i7, you may see a 10-15% increase on the low end of the low FPS (Meaning, if you get 18-20fps in WvW with your current, on an i7 you should get 23-28FPS)
This game is HORRIBLE when it comes to the CPU. Even when you throw a very high end CPU at the game, it just doesnt do as well as it should.
Despite being an intermediate PC user, I have never overclocked and have failed at understanding it, so I’m just looking to sticking with stock settings (though I don’t mind paying the extra $20 for the ‘K’
15 bolts of damask will get you 2-3 piece of ascended armor not to mention the 15 you need for the new backpeice..
I salvage over 200 blues greens a day and i get about 50% of mats i need for bolt of damask….
that’s NOT viable… i still need to run a few dungeons to make the extra 5 gold for rest of mats…. ( i personally dont mind ) but its still stupid expensive compare to the weapons..
Well expecting to be able to farm everything by yourself in a short manner of time is unreasonable
“Respectable” is subjective. I think the prices for some items are incredibly fair, while others are clueless and should be scrapped (Swimming speed bost? Really?)
I very much doubt it would make any difference if the items were cheaper. Anet would not gain any sufficient goodwill that would outweigh the massive loss of potential profit.
I’m in support of Anet’s prices for account and permanent upgrades. When you look at the costs for extra character, bank and bag slots, it is pretty expensive. But the fact that they are permanent makes them worth it. Anet will never make another sale again for that opportunity so it’s best they charge the most at that time.
Think of it like this. Anet could come out with a special promotion for character slots for 200 gems. People would buy and hoard these forever to the point that after the sale is over, no one will ever consider buying at regular price. Those future sales will no longer happen. Price things too low and you will lose out on your margins.
I do think Anet needs to make the consumables considerably cheaper, especially considering how worthless the MF/karma boosts are when you consider the gem/gold ratio.

I currently run a rig with an i5-2500k processor with a GTX 780. I believe my CPU is bottlenecking considering the low FPS I get on high settings.
Can you recommend me a processor, or at least a range? I keep hearing that i7 is totally unnecessary and that the higher-end i5’s are suitable.
I have also browsed through pcpartpicker and I noticed there are plenty of positive reviews for the 3570k and the 4670k.

What are the chances that you will end up with over 250 of a certain mat? I’m sure that if you are hardcore player, you will eventually end up with +250 silk scrap, mithril ore and logs and such, but is it really worth the 800 gems to hold items without huge value?
You are better off depositing that extra stack in your bank, gbank, or bank alt.

However considering the build versatility of guardians and the probability that you may want to build your own sets, I would say put armorsmith on guardian.
Why? Everything you craft is account bound and can be swapped to other characters. I have armorsmith to 500 on my Mesmer and change everything over to my warrior whenever I craft something.
If you already have the crafts leveled, don’t waste the time or gold to change them around.
That’s why I said that overall it doesn’t matter, but if you really want to pick and choose and save a few minutes, it would go to armorsmith/guard. But really, it doesn’t matter.

Legendaries are end-game items. They are the most rare class of items in the game. They are not attainable for a large majority of the population. If they were, everyone would get them.
Yes, I do realize that you are seeing perhaps 5-12 people in LA with sunrise or bifrost, but that’s still a tiny percentage of people.
It’s no different than releasing specific content and expecting it to be getting everyone excited. You won’t get everyone excited with a new wvw map, or a new dungeon, or a new spvp map. Those are tailored to specific audiences.
What Anet needs to do is release this wide range of content to appease everyone all at once, rather than specific content release like legendaries.

Quartz speculation was pretty poor since the future uses were very limited. Any kind of speculation revolving quartz was very risky.

3.) Legendaries are for cosmetics. You are better off making ascended if you just want BIS weapons.
You receive 2 gifts of exploration per map completion, so you can craft 2 legendaries with it.
All gifts for forging Legendaries are accound bound, so it doesnt matter who crafts the gifts or the weapon (which is soulbound on use only).
To make the legendary dagger, you also need 400 in Cooking.

The gem store is pretty much made for casual players, so this is actually good for the majority.
Of course there need to be more ingredients, but something has to be done, because gossamer is getting cheaper than silk and linen which does not make sense from a quality standpoint.
Well to be fair, why should the value of silk be depressed? For the longest time silk was depressed and now it actually has value.
If anything, gossamer value should be increased.
I do not recommend you farming specifically for bloods. It’s terribly inefficient.
I suggest you farm the FSG champ train or even your server’s meta event farming chain (which we do on Yaks Bend).
Many T6 mats are +30s (with the exception of Totems)
What would you find to be a fair ratio? I think promoting 250 silk bolts gives 10-30 gossamer bolts? So should the demotion of 30 gossamer give 250 silk bolts?
To find the right balance would take quite a lot of time, but I would say that the system shouldn’t be that easily. There should be a ‘fee’ involved, such as including philosopher stones or t5 dust.

In general I do think it would be nice to have demotion recipes, kind of like how we can currently do that with fractal essences.
Silver and gold ore are good speculative opportunities considering the likelihood of the next legendaries being accessories (though it may be leaning towards backpieces).
Nonetheless, crafting ascended jewelery is a bit peculiar considering it is rather easy to get in game.
