People as far away from Australia don’t notice huge dips in latency. It must be your new provider or something.

You should only change your server if you are on one that has no players on that time zone. I.e. Yaks Bend is a US server and has very little happening in off-peak times, while a server like JQ/BG has full 24/hour coverage and will have players always available doing events.

Failure to stop the Marionette before the power meter associated with it is filled results in a massive cannon going off and every single player within Lornar’s Pass being killed. Even those possibly on the other side of the map.

wtf

I know, shame these players have to waste 60c-2S to respawn!

I’m sad that they decided to make another Teq scale encounter. I thought they would have learned to make it scale more by this point. If they aren’t going to merge servers and increase zone caps then the bosses need to scale starting at 20 players, not 100.

Skill and coordination in the open world = bad.
Skill and coordination in instances and guild sized events = good.

It really isn’t that hard of a concept.

To be honest, teq is not that hard. Players refusing to work together and utilize strategies is the issue when dealing with teq. Every server should have the capability of defeating him on reset.

If you do not want to do teq/wurm, then fine. There are plenty of less-challenging bosses out there that you can do. But for those that want challenging content and are willing to put the time and effort, we have our opportunities.

There is nothing challenging about Teq himself. The “challenge” is having to stand in one zone for 2 hours in order to get a spot, or to fail because there are too many trolls or afk people.

I have no problem with challenging content, but the only reason the content is challenging is because of the lag and how stupid most players are.

What I want is a fight that takes actual coordination with interesting mechanics where we can show up on our own schedule, figure out the fight and not fail due to level 40’s in blues who want to see the fight but won’t listen to directions or come back from being afk.

I have to schedule more time to wait to fight teq than it took me to complete entire raids in WoW.

I hope you have run teq multiple times because there is no way an uncoordinated server will be able to just port in 2 minutes before the start and expect it to succeed.

First you need 6 competent turret gunners that know what they are doing. Then you need 2 separate defense groups that need to kite/lure spawn away from the cannons (as well as deal with tentacles that spawn on cannons). Then you need to allocate four different groups to spread out amongst the 3 batteries and megalaser.

You can’t possibly expect an unorganized zerg to allocate themselves accordingly.

The upcoming Edge of the Mists map will place all servers of one colour together, which means you will be able to encounter players from servers outside your current matchup. That should help a little with the GvG issue.

I have never played in eotm, but based on the pictures/videos, isn’t there very little room to maneuver around? I could see GvG’s being less about skill and more about who popped fear/knockback first.

I know you aren’t one to usually make kittenumptions Vol, but I think you are seriously underestimating how casual low pop servers have become. For reference: the Queensdale Champ Train on Devona’s Rest peaks at 20ish players (30 on a good day).

That’s right… the mind-numbingly easy content with decent reward can only pull 20 players. Content that requires coordination and has a low pay off such as Teq doesn’t even get attempted on low pop servers.

They really should find a way to transfer guilds so that they can begin merging some of these ghost towns, especially if they are going to start adding content that requires people to participate.

Then that is a server pop issue, not a an issue with the boss fight. And there is a reason why guesting is available. For those who really want to do teq, it’s a viable alternative.

“The Jungle Wurm encounter is sort of on par with the level of coordination, gameplay and skill that Tecoatl required. It’s kind of our next giant, open-world mega-encounter where hundreds of people come together and try to overcome. Because of that difficulty, it’s got some pretty awesome and unique rewards on it [like] unique minis you can only get from the Jungle Wurm. There’s a new sub-set of weapon skins, and there’s a lot of really awesome rewards that come off of him compared to other bosses in the world.”snip…

So overflows then.. awesome news
Nice to know I won’t get a chance to do this one either unless I am willing (I’m not) to wait an hour in a map for it to spawn.

Overflows will always be in this game. If you had a choice between intense server lag amongst 500 players, or moderate graphics lag amongst 150 players, its safe to say 99% of people will choose the latter. With intense server lag, no one can get skills off, no one can move, and with a complicated boss encounter, you will fail miserably. There is no other way around it. Overflows are the best possible solution until there are advanced in networking.

The best I can suggest is to do map exploration while you wait, or at the very least do gathering runs.

One important thing to keep in mind.

If Anet introduces demotion through the mystic forge, gossamer could very well rise in value (and other materials). As to how much, we don’t know.

If there weren’t any other better investments, I would pick gossamer. But the opportunity cost is high, so I don’t recommend it.

We want people to go there, have fun, experience the story more than anything, and a lot of the rewards you get from the Marionette actually help you progress the story.”

“During our chat, Johanson told us that in addition to the two new mega-monsters, there’s a third part to The Origins of Madness that players will have to seek out on their own. His reference to the Marionette rewards relates to this, since it provides players with important clues regarding Scarlet’s past and current plans. “Players are going to be able to go to a location for the first time where some of the pieces of the puzzle of Scarlet’s story will be put together. This release gives [players] a component of seeing how she got to this place.”

Gossamer could very well have bottomed out. It could increase in the future but that could be more than a year away, as it could play a part in Legendary Armor.

It’s no longer a decent investment since there is a lot of gossamer on the market. The demand would have to be so immense and so great that it would have to consume a good chunk from the TP.

The point of crafting?

in Crafting

Posted by: Vol.7601

Vol.7601

To expand on point 5/6, yes it definitely saves you money.

For example, if you want to dump rare GS to gamble for a precursor, you could of course buy them from the TP at a premium.

Or you can buy all the components and save yourself some extra gold.

Crafting in many MMO’s have been used to give a character a way to make indirect gold through selling services. Unfortunately though, barrier to entry is pretty low and so many people cut into profits. Anet tried to combat this by introducing time-gates, but it’s only temporary.

I have the same problem as many other players how do I get my lower tier Cloth and Leather like linen an wool.

Currently you get armour and weapons wich has almost the same level as you character and salvagable items and container both of which are depending on the zone you are playing.

My suggestions to make about half of the armour and weapons which drop in lower level zone of the same level as the zone. This way you get extra items you can salvage for the required materials instead of only having big piles of silk

That is the way it works. I can’t remember the spread but it’s either 60/40 or 80/20. It used to be much lower.

Precursor Crafting-Throw us a bone on timing?

I want to know how people got the impression that crafting a Precursor would be easier than grinding out the money to buy one…

There’s also been reasonable speculation that crafting Precursors would only allow crafting the precursors used to make the new set of Legendaries – that the value of the old ones would be protected.

In any case there are so many fine details in how they could do it, that I’m sure we won’t see an announcement until the system is essentially done and ready to promote to live servers.

Some precursors are normailized around 500g which is okay. What’s NOT okay is that Dusk is 900g and there’s no stopping its inflation.

All precursors can be acquired at the same rate. From there, isn’t it safe to say that the price for Dusk is driven by demand?

I don’t think that would be reasonable speculation.

We know precursor crafting was supposed to come out in 2013 and was delayed. We also know that any new legendaries that were to come out, would be trinkets/rings/backpiece (as per Colin). So put 2 + 2 and you can say with confidence that precursor crafting would be involved with current legendaries. Otherwise, they would have to come out with new legendary weapons early this year.

The only reasonable speculation for precursor crafting is that it would still give purchasing a precursor as an alternative.

There is a good chance that it will diminish the value of a precursor slightly due to increased supply, but the price will definitely reflect the value people place on crafting it.

I would really like to hear what your vision of a balanced tp is.

The TP is balanced because it gives everybody the same chance of interacting with it.

I’m personally putting getting my precursor off until the end. I could get it as a drop while obtaining my other materials.

Once I get all of my materials that need for mine that can be got through salvaging or from gold short of the precursor, I will take any exotic sceptors that I get in drops and mystic forge them in an attempt to get Storm. All while earning gold to buy it. If precursor crafting has come out, I’ll probably go that route over buying it or using the mystic forge.

Having exotics drop are rare enough, but expecting specific exotic types are as rare as getting a precursor.

If you do plan on dumping stuff into the forge, remember it’s better to gamble on an expensive precursor, sell it and have funds remaining to buy the one you want + have other gold available

I wouldn’t recommend doing this since precursor crafting will come before he will finish his other components.

Well it will take time to save up 500g. A-net has said precursor crafting would be coming out for months and nothing yet. If anything the price of crafting a precursor will be similar to current cost of buying one. I know some players that saved their precursor last but finally gave in and bought a precursor to finish their legendary.

I hope that the price of legendaries does not increase anymore. The current cost of a legendary compared to when I made my legendaries has increased by 30%. The item that has always increase the most in value was the precursor. So I saved a ton of gold by getting my precursors first.

The price of precursor crafting could definitely be the same as buying one, but this will affect other component prices due to new entrants in their legendary quests. T6, etcos, lodes will all go up. It’s better to invest the gold into that and then make/buy the precursor after the prices have went down.

That doesn’t really explain the ‘investing’ part.

Other points on salvaging:
-profit can only be made through buy orders (except when you are buying before a sudden change in price, like trinkets that gave silver jsut before the silver boom)
-Orders filled can take a long time
-Spread is very small and even more diluted when spread amongst buyer and seller

If you are willing to pay X-1 price, I will never sell to you.

I suggest you get your map completion in order too. At the minimum, you should get your WvW completion as soon as possible. You don’t have to actively WvW – you just need to explore your server’s side of the map each week and hope you change color.

Also try to set a map completion goal everyday. A reasonable one would be 2%.
