What episode are stuck on?
If I recall, episode 1 was tough at times.
and here I thought it was OK for me to rage for having to wait 3 minutes to attempt the episode 3 achievements at the summit.
but your situation…yeah i’d do a bit more than rage.
OccupySab thread just got locked
Riot anyone?!
I’ll bring the warbanners and FGS’
but it’s not an armor, it’s an outfit
This is why I didn’t vote for Kiel.
If we had Evon on the council, he would have used his own wealth on fixing up LA. We would have had orichalchum-cobbled streets and houses constructed out of Ancient Planks and Bloodstone Bricks.
He would’ve bought the services of the hard working Skritt rather than depending on the unionized pirate shills currently slowly down construction efforts while increasing costs.
But nooooooo, people wanted waypoint costs to be cheaper for a few weeks. I bet y’all don’t even remember how much it was reduced by.
So much love for SAB here, but from what I recall world 2 was universally hated.
FGS is getting nerfed more than likely due to the mention in the blog post a few mins ago
about time
I sure hope so, several people undercut my Dusk & Dawn by 100g

New tidbits on precursor crafting:
http://www.guildmag.com/guild-wars-2-interview-part-1-general-game-living-world/
Devon Carver: So, we don’t really have anything to announce at this time, it is absolutely something that we’re, you know, fully aware of, and it is part of a system that we want to be making improvements upon so it’s something we’ve been putting a lot of thought into and then kind of been trying to figure out what the best solution to that problem is. But we don’t have anything that we can say right now about changes to the precursor system or the legendary system at all, but, like I said, it’s definitely something that is on our radar, it’s something we hope to be making improvements to and to have more to talk about sometime soon.
This is going to largely depend on how precursor crafting would be released (and let’s ignore precursor scavenger hunt)
The demand curve would certainly shift but will the supply curve? It’s a coin toss.
If I were JS and I would try to lessen the shock on the precursor market, here are a few steps I would take:
-Tie precursor crafting into timegates (i.e. Lump of Mithrillium) or a new timegated item to circumvent those who are stocking up on Lumps (like me!)
-Tie precursor crafting with materials that currently maintain a high sustained price so that the precursor will end up costing as much as one bought on the TP. i.e.Lodestones, T6 mats, globs
-Tie precursor crafting with valuable account bound items, such as Essence of Luck (exotic), laurels
Other steps I could take:
-As mentioned by someone else above, release precursor crafting along with the new legendaries and keep precursor crafting available for the new ones. Old legendaries became legacy items and they will still operate under the old system.
I’m unsure if precursor crafting will come next month (the blogposts do not hint at it) but I’m afraid that Anet could very well split the acquisition methods of legacy legendaries and new ones. For the past 4-6 months I’ve been hoarding over 4000g worth of inscriptions hoping to take advantage of the new precursors when they come out (buy orders would have been ridiculously high on the first day) but it seems unlikely they will use the forge. I ended up forging them all end got 2 Dusks & 2 Dawns. Currently brainstorming what items are current safe bets and I’ll dump all that gold on them.

Can you not jump at the chance to tattle on everything that happens? Orr farming is unprofitable enough, if it isn’t harming you or the community in a substantial way then leave it alone :/
On the contrary, I applaud the OP for reporting this.
There are many people who are concerned the way events are being failed/“exploited” on purpose and will now intervene. Squeezing more out of an event than is intended and designed for will harm everyone else in the long run.
If you’re not doing anything wrong, don’t have to be worried. Orr farming is hardly unprofitable; but greed makes it never enough.
They didn’t ban people for Lyssa farm, Anchorage farm, Shelter and Dolyak farm.
What did they have all in common? Stalling/failing events.
You’re more likely to get banned for harrassing people completing the event than this
However, once these “exploits” came to light, the events eventually did not exist in the same form anymore. I think that is at least true of the Shelter and Dolyak farm.
I don’t think they banned anyone. Everyone has done events in earnest and failed before so the intention to fail needs to be proven.
How is this proven? Aside from reports on the forums, I imagine once people start to make such event succeed, some frustrated exploiter is bound to whisper or say some abusive thing. Screenshot that and report and that’s your proof.
Yes, all the events I mentioned were patched in one way or another, but that doesn’t mean it’s necessarily bad.
Anet has done a lot to nerf legit events in game because they don’t want people to make gold.
Off the top of my head:
-Shelt/Pen farm was nerfed significantly after they introduced champ scaling and mob minions not dropping mobs
-Plinx respawn was nerfed after they felt that the event rewarded karma too frequently
-Fish corpse farming was nerfed because players discovered that the more players that participated, the more loot for everyone
The one farming scheme that I devised that was 100% legit got nerfed 1 month after I publicly posted the guide. It involved farming several Orr event chains from start to finish across three servers across multiple characters.

Got 3 more precursors on about 1000g spent
They didn’t ban people for Lyssa farm, Anchorage farm, Shelter and Dolyak farm.
What did they have all in common? Stalling/failing events.
You’re more likely to get banned for harrassing people completing the event than this
And this is why I keep telling everyone that the prices of precursors are not bad at all.
If don’t want to pay 1500g for a precursor, fine. There’s one right here for 90g.
Having more gold sinks doesn’t hurt, especially with the amount of people doing dungeon trains.
Ya because it’s the dungeon guys who are buying a ton of commander books…
I don’t think it matters where gold faucets/sinks come from, as long as the total rate of gold coming in or out is controlled.
I wouldn’t mind this.
Anet should sell it as a gemstore item
“Mini-Bank Bag Slot”
20 slots, I’d pay, ooh, 800 gems
Umm 300g for a color tag is way to much gold, It should be something like 10,000 badges +50g + 50 laurels for wvw or something like 5k dungeon tokens + laurels etc…
why make EVERY THING in this game gold base…… we dont need more gold sinks, we need other means to get items so gold isnt as important……
Having more gold sinks doesn’t hurt, especially with the amount of people doing dungeon trains.
Too complicated & I don’t know if this would make any difference.
You’d have to design another TP interface that is both linked and separate to the current one (i.e. similar prices, but supply is separated from normal TP and sale queue). That’s tedious, and not worth the time/ $ invested.
The reason why we have that ‘error’ is to combat spam which would slow down the system.
And there is nothing stopping malicious players from spamming the new queue with constant entries.
i.e. if I were malicious and wanted to crash the TP, I would design a bot that would buy and relist thick leather at 9c at hundreds of transactions per minute.
So the only purpose of buying a blue commander tag right now as opposed to post patch is to save 200g?
I’m confused..
so if you have one commander tag (blue), you won’t be able to access the other colors unless you purchase them? And you won’t get a refund unless you have purchased more than 4?
To clear the misunderstanding: I’m not “worried” about orichalcum, I just figured I should get started on that and am looking for advice for efficient gathering~
If you want efficiency, don’t focus on orichalchum. That comes along over time when you get loot and salvage it.
For example, focus on getting T6 materials first. You can do this by farming in Cursed Shore for moldy bags. Along the way you will get countless of other items that you can salvage and get orichalchum easily.
You’re worried about orichalchum? That should be the least of your concern and far back in priority.
Orichalchum accounts for less than 1 % of the total gold cost of Sunrise, for example.
Look at the price. If the price hasn’t jumped, no nerf.
Well the price did jump, but that has largely to do with the demand.
I spent +1000g a year ago without getting a precursor and then hit the jackpot
I spent another 175g last night and got Dawn. I still have 4000g (+-23 stacks) of inscriptions to burn.
Try Sovereign?
As someone who doesn’t know who Livia is, what are the implications for us if Anise = Livia? Is that a good thing? Bad thing?
Ever consider that there are different degrees of bugs and how they can be fixed?
I may/may not have suggested this before. I do think legendary dyes are a possibility in the future, but I know there are some concerns about it.
For one, the game shouldn’t promote everyone looking like disco balls or unicorns. There comes a point where a character has too many special effects.
From what I heard on map chat, you need to have the backpiece with you
who said the SAB is not going to come?
Feature patch = features
SAB = content
Content previews always occur on the Tuesday the week after the previous patch.
Wait until Tuesday to vent.
All asura are jerks. Phlunt is no different than Zoija
I don’t think it’s worth the effort to redo all the current weapons with the available colors, so I woudn’t hold my breath.
What do you mean? You think they’ve developed every armor set with every color combination? The colors are applied to the armor sets. Anet didn’t have to go and make 200+ versions of every armor piece to account for color schemes.
I don’t think he meant it that way.
It would be incredibly difficult to redesign all skins because you would have to take apart each weapon and rebuild it.
It’s because the templates used to construct these weapons are fixed. They do not have any portions of the weapon that are dyeable.
When it comes to armors, they outline the different parts that can be used to apply different textures, but with weapons they would have to revisit every single one and decide what parts need to be dyeable.
That’s extremely labor intensive and not worth it.
RnG is RnG.
Yesterday through one character run on 8-10 alts (I cant’ remember how many I use), I got 0. A few hours later I got 4, all on one character.
RnG is RnG
1.) Precursors are not too high. They are based on market forces.
2.) The increase of 600g is directly as a result of the wardrobe change. The price is not because of inflation but because of a sustained spike in demand
3.) Newcomers shouldn’t be concerned about getting a precursor or a legendary to begin with, at least not right away. Sure, make it your goal, but it’s a long-term one.
4.) You really should have posted in the dozen or so threads on the same topic.
Going the Diablo III method and nuking the TP while simultaneously super-buffing drops? It seemed to work in that game.
Might be more fun to remove weapons and armor from the TP and turn it into a commodity exchange for crafting materials and the like. Minis, skins, consumables and other stuff can probably stay too. I like to be able to find my own stuff, as long as the chance is reasonable to find it.
Diablo III however is not an MMO, so the economy is significantly less important there.
Price fluctuates a bit but generally it’s better to make your own so that you are not paying a premium for the non-purchasable stuff
I wish there were more colors, and something better than the typical commander icon (like various avatars)
But I wouldn’t mind seeing these released as you gain ranks or released on the gem store.
I got 3 ectos from my 40s rare.
Time to buy all the rares and become 200% richer with ease!
The price history of ectos suggest nothing has changed.
Rng is Rng
Yeah, based on the price staying stable it seems as though nothing has changed….but I too have had too many streaks of 10-15 rares salvaged with only 3-5 ectos….several friends have seen the same recently too.
RNG is a harsh mistress.
That’s because you are more likely to hear about complaints about bad rng than elation from people with good rng. And people who have average rng are going to continue on because they got what they expected.
Well I think this is an open and shut case. Any time Anet says an item is “very rare”, it truly is very rare and not worth gambling for unless you are like OP. Do not spend real $ on keys.
I agree. Yet farming some keys can pay off because it only takes opening that one chest to get something worth a lot. I mentioned somewhere in the forum I think that one guildmate went on his first key run after coming back from several months away from the game and ended up with the contract for the BL trader, worth 300g. First key, first run. So, you never know. Personally, most I ended up with was something worth about 85g, although now I can’t remember what it was.
I wouldn’t recommend spending as much time as the OP, but a few runs a week is a way to maybe earn something extra. I like to do one or two runs on each weekend morning while I’m having my coffee. For me, this has replaced the time I used to spend doing the FGS champ train. I find it relaxing and I can turn my brain off for an hour and get a couple keys.
That said, every time I think I’m done buying keys, I ended up buying more. But then I also go to casinos occasionally :p so I’m predisposed to enjoy a little gambling!
Rng is Rng. Your friend is in a very, very small minority of people who get something valuable on their 1st run. The large majority don’t get anything.
The price history of ectos suggest nothing has changed.
Rng is Rng
Doesn’t take long to get 3g and 20 SP
I agree.
I appreciate how valuable Gaile has been with the community, but her posts are not informative for the large majority and are almost always relevant to the people who posted their thread in support. It’s cumbersome having to go through all her posts to find an actual dev response on something relevant to this game.
Last December there was an event in Cursed Shore that we called ember farm.
It involved keeping 2 cauldrons up, which spawned 3 embers immediately after they died. Often you’d end up with 3 champs per wave, which lasted about 10 minutes, taking another 10 minutes to respawn.
Each farm session netted about 40 champion bags.
We (politely) discouraged others to successfully complete the event, and we purposely failed the event.
To my knowledge, no one was banned from this. It was just bad game design.
It’s shorter but I think it’s for the best. Season 1 was so darn long it was hard to see where we were headed. It reminded me of the show 24 where you had 24 episodes a season and you had something like half a dozen unconnected plot lines. I would very much prefer something like Game of Thrones where each season is focused on certain events and slowly builds up to the end.
I also don’t think many players would be willing to go through another season 1 with no gameplay changes. A feature patch during this break would be ideal.
Well I think this is an open and shut case. Any time Anet says an item is “very rare”, it truly is very rare and not worth gambling for unless you are like OP. Do not spend real $ on keys.
It’s been tried multiple times in the past, and while the price sustained itself for a day or so, it quickly resorted back to it’s pre-manipulation levels.
The reason is giant eyes have very limited demand, so the only way to keep a high price sustainable is to increase it’s use or somehow have other speculators act as purchasers who sustain the price.
We’ll need to know a bit more about your playstyle.
For example, are you a player that enjoys open-world farming and getting tons of loot? Extra bag space is required.
Do you like to create tons of alts? Extra character slots is a vital (although I suggest doing this after you fill the available 5 slots)
Do you like to hoard items for no reason whatsoever? Consider extra bank space
Also note that you can convert your gems to gold, so if you are impatient and want to wear that nice weapon on the TP, you can go that route. But if you want the best bang for your buck, you should pay attention to the exchange rates and conduct the transaction at the best available time.
