On a similar not, how come there are several blue weapons being bought in the hundreds with a buy order 2x vendor price?
For the last few months, the montly achievement options have included 500 salvages. The dailies often include 10 savlages as well. Towards the end of the month a lot of people are rushing to get the monthlies, and blues that vendor for 25c can sell for 1s or more, sounds like someone trying to get a jump on the salvaging rush.
Speculation, but if successful you can double your money or more without a lot of effort.
Weapons dont stack, so you think somebody buys 250 weapons for 25c to sell later on for 100c? Thats like 5 gold profit for occupying 250 bank slots.

Its not you class that is bad at farming, its your build.
Pretty much everyone I have asked has told me not to even try farming Dunwell. I ran full zerk everything, soldiers with zerk trinkets, swapping traits and weapons, etc. and I still only made about 2g/hour because I couldn’t do it with multiple gambits. As for Ember farming, I can go full zerk, pop RaO with sword and use my jaguar on a full hp champion ember and occasionally not get it tagged. But that isn’t really my point, either.
I have school on the weekdays and a part-time job. I can get on for maybe an hour on the weekdays, and focus mainly on the weekends. I’m hovering around 20g and have been for a while now, but abruptly it has no value. How do I get enough gold for the value? Spend hours farming embers of the jubilee that I don’t have. If I play WvW now, I just get poorer because of buying structures, armor repairs and the little to no loot you get.I read both your posts and I am having trouble understanding what it is you want, so I’ll just ask. What exactly do you want?
I didnt mean to be rude. My advice to you, stay in school, keep your job.
Do an extra hour at your job, buy a gem card and convert it into gold. I am pretty sure, you will end up with more gold than farming for an hour.
Bloin – Running around, tagging Keeps, getting whack on Scoobie Snacks.
I also think this would be a bad idea in general because it would enable you to generate money in the game without actually playing it. Flipping items on the TP already is the easiest way to generate gold. I do it myself but i think being able to do it on the go will only benefit us tp flippers, giving us even more power to monopolize the market, resulting in inflation and a worse overall experience of the general player base.
If you flip stuff on the tp, you should actually play the game as well.

Kinda makes me chuckle since ascended armor will come out and make the exotic recipes kinda pointless for most people.
Posts like yours make me chuckle because you clearly havent read this thread.
Do you expect a full set of ascended armor in your mail, once they are released?
It will be time gated and people will still use exotic armor. How do you explain that the market for exotic trinkets hasnt imploded yet even though ascended trinkets are available for half a year now?
Bloin – Running around, tagging Keeps, getting whack on Scoobie Snacks.
I think the aether weapons dropped from Sanctum sprint chests during the Bazaar.
As this game is back in the mini game rotation, my guess would be that they still drop there.
Bloin – Running around, tagging Keeps, getting whack on Scoobie Snacks.
They are going to have ascended celestial armor soon (I’m sure it’ll be one of the options like jewelry). Don’t worry yourselves too much about the exotic versions which you’ll only use until you’re able to get those ascended versions.
The problem with ascended armor is that we only know it will come out this year so it might be in 4 months from now. Apart from that, crafting those will be heavily time gated, so you can safely add a couple of months for its acquisition until you have a full ascended set.
By now, everybody knows what his preferred armor suffix is and you will most likely go for that for your first ascended set. Most of the times it will be zerker for pve and pvt for wvw. So even if you want to try a celestial build, you gonna wait 8 months because you think you will have a full celestial ascended armor by then?
Do/did you bother spending 10-20G on Exotic trinkets for your alts/main even though you knew ascended trinkets are available to you once you got the laurels/relics/commendations in a month or 2?
Yes, you did.
I know plenty of people who got a full magic find set last week to farm the pavillion, even though they knew that mf as a stat will be taken out of gear soon.
Dozens of people in the game still spend 60-80G each day to get a set of Divinity Runes.
People are impatient and will buy best in slot items when they can afford it. Even if better gear is on the horizon.

Dragon Bash Food is a bad long term investment because its price is directly linked to the zhaitaffy price. Zhaitaffy is still in great supply and i dont think the supply will diminish anytime soon. As you can still buy dragonbash food from the vendor with zhaitaffy, dont expect to make a big profit on either of those.
Concerning Quartz, I have mixed expectations. Investing in them right now would only make sense, if they introduce recipes that need quartz and will be hugely popular.
And even then, the price might just rise by 50-100%. If you bought a full stack at 40c you paid 10G to fill a bank slot for long term (at least 2 months). If 5-10G profit are worth it for you to occupy a bank slot that long, go for it. I myself still have about 8 stacks of them that i harvested myself during the event but never bought more with the intent to flip it with a profit in a couple of months.

The fact that the celestial weapons are account bound and that you cant discover the recipes for each armorpiece/weapon on your own but have to get the recipe from the trading post as well, will in my opinion ensure a continuing demand for them in the future. Many people didnt start crafting their celestial armor yet because of its time gating and the general opinion that celestial builds are only viable for eles and guards.
However, i think that full celestial builds havent been tried out yet on other classes to see how viable they are in the current game meta.
Playing mainly a Warrior, there are 2 main builds available right now that most of the people run: Zerker for PvE and P/V/T for WvW. I disregard sPvP right now because i dont play it much and i am not sure if celestial armor/weapons are available there.
For my first set of ascended trinkets half a year ago, I decided to get the celestial trinkets I knew that that way I wouldnt be able to spike my stats on certain builds but i thought it would save me lots of money and bank space while trying out different builds in the future because i wouldnt have to get new exotic or ascended trinkets for every build i want to try.
Many people laughed at me for my choice but overall, i am quite happy with it.
After Celestial Armor and weapons got introduced, it was clear for me that i will get a full set to try to find a viable celestial warrior build (mainly for wvw).
And with the introduction of the new Rune Set of Perplexity (confusion spam on interrupting foes), i think i found one.
I am not done yet, right now i have 5 ascended celestial trinkets, celestial jewel on my backpiece, 4/6 celestial armor pieces, a crafted celestial hammer (Genesis, the new hammer also has celestial stats, i think) and a celestial mace (Shiverstone, new champ mace). So i still need 2 armor pieces and one weapon to max out in celestial stats.
Even though I am not done yet, tests have been very satisfying so far in wvw.
Well, i dont want to go too much off topic with my build. Just wanted to make my point that i think each class can create a successful celestial build which will be hard to counter in wvw because not many people run it. Once those builds get posted on the forums and people get aware of it, the demand of celestial recipes will rise again.
Plus, every player that just got GW2 recently, will not have those recipes at all.
I hope i could give you a good insight on those recipes. I expect most of the recipes to be around 5-10G in a couple of months.
I havent sold a single recipe yet during the price spike in the last few days, and i dont panic, if prices will drop in the next few days. Like i already explained, if the price drops again, i will be buying.
I roughly calculated last night, how much profit i would make, if i would have sold all my recipes, it would have been between 700-900% of my initial investments.
If you should buy, sell or wait right now, is up to you to decide.
Bloin – Running around, tagging Keeps, getting whack on Scoobie Snacks.
The reason why they also introduced recipes for each armor piece instead of only introducing recipes for the insignias/inscriptions/jewels is simple.
The main source of getting those recipes was through Zapphire Sanctum Supply boxes.
You could either use 10 fortune scraps to buy one box or crafting materials.
They were used by Anet to drain some of the oversupply of some crafting materials, like t5 silk and leather.
By forcing you to not only obtain the insignia recipe but also a recipe for each armor piece, they tried to to drain more of these materials out of the economy.
Concerning the price spike on the recipes, I might have something to do with it.
After slowly stocking up on various recipes through low buy orders during the event, i thought it was now time to buy out big chunks of the supply of some recipes on the tp, to cause the price spikes that happened in the last couple of days.
This usually results in “average” players to sell the small amount of recipes they still have sitting in their bank, enabling me (and many other speculative power traders) to have access to those recipes on the trading post compared to not being able to access them when they are sitting in someone elses bank.
It also sparks other people with alot of money to invest and buy out those recipes.
This is good for me because the more supply is held by fewer players, the easier it gets to control the price. For example (fictional numbers):
Before the event ended, a few people like me already stocked up huge amounts of those recipes. However, the majority of players still had a couple of recipes in their bank. Lets say 100 people were holding 50% of the in game supply while another 1 million players held the other 50% of the supply.
With the sudden price spikes triggered by me (and others) a majority of the 1 million players will sell their supply because they think they make a decent profit on them right now. This gives the 100 people the chance to get a hold of many more recipes, so in 2 weeks or so, me and the other 99 players will be holding 90% of the supply, more or less being able to control the market.
Continued in next post due to body length.

Is it possible that you cannot make this in the mystic forge? Only for the celestial ones?
You are right.
You cannot make satchel recipes for celestial armor in the mystic forge.
My guess would be because the celestial armor is account bound.
Besides that, learning a satchel recipe for armor will not lower your cost of crafting the whole set. You will need the same amount of ingredients as if you would craft each piece individually.

Since yesterday, i get incredible lag when trying to use the search function on the trading post. Most of the time, when i search for keywords, it doesnt even get to load the results.
It seems to me that this function is using either an incredible amount of system resources or bandwidth making anything else impossible. Basic functions like opening your inventory, the guild or crafting panel while searching for something on the tp results in the other panels to take alot of time loading, for example, it takes 5-15 seconds until the items in my inventory loaded correctly.
Simultaneously, i saw a minor graphic glitch occurring in the tp panel which might be related to my problem:
The “Search” Button next to the keyword search field doesnt display its beige fill-in colour anymore or takes a long time to load. I can still click it but most of the time, search results take either a long time to load or dont load at all
In other panels, like the crafting panel, the basic layout gets loaded without specific information displayed. For example, the different recipes i can craft dont show up, until i hover over the place they used to be.
Other tabs of the trading post work fine, like pick up, selling or viewing my transactions, even though my general framerate went down alot during the last days as well. Until now, i thought it might had to do with the random stress tests for removing culling.
I didnt change much on my side in the last days, windows updated once with the same bad results before and after my update.
Another thing might be that the battery of my laptop doesnt perform very well anymore which might result in performance issues but normally i think that wouldnt affect me because i play with hte power cable plugged in all the time.
Anybody else experienced something similiar lately or has any tips on how i could solve this problem?

However, I cant be bothered to look ofr a link or info confirming this.

I think the mesmer has enough access to swiftness and movement buffs available to cover large distances during map completion. I think that is your main point of concern and you see the difficulty in balancing this with your great movement speed while in combat.
First of all, i dont see where your price tag of 15G for a rune set comes from.
Runes of Speed and the Scavenger Set both give you 5% passive movement speed as 6th bonus, the Speed Rune set additionally give you the chance to get swiftness on hit in combat plus swiftness duration, the Scavenger rune set adds magic find.
They cost 25s/1G on the trtading post right now.
The passive movement buff can also be increased with consumables with speed boosters, hero banners etc. Granted, using those buffs is expensive but creating a portal device for other classes also is.
Even though its definatly easier for other classes to gain perma swiftness, they always lose combat viability as well, if they build for swiftness.
Same goes for mesmers. Your main source of swiftness while not in combat is the focus 4 skill which initially gives you 12s of swiftness every 25 seconds. if you want to use a different off hand in combat, just switch to focus after combat for swiftness.
This can be done without altering your build and nearly grants you 50% swiftness uptime over long distances.
As a warrior, I have to do the same. My warhorn doesnt really help me cleaving down mobs.
Getting perma swiftness with a focus seems pretty easy to me, even though that will force you to alternate your build (like any other class has to as well) and most certainly will result in lower dps or survivability. Its up to you, if those sacrifices will suit your goal. For example, you might be able to gain perma swiftness for running from point to point during map completion but you will lose time while killing mobs/completing hearts.
One thing you can do is trait for focus, resulting in 12s of swiftness every 20 seconds.
Then you can stack boon duration which is pretty easy to get.
Your cheapest option is food, Chocolate Omnomberry Cream, giving you 20% Boon Duration, also adding 40% magic find under the influence of a boon.
Traiting 30 into Chaos will add another 30% Boon Duration. Depending on what build you use for map completion, this might mean you have to sacrifice quite some dps.
From Runes you can get 40% boon duration or you just go with the Rune of Speed, that adds 20% Swiftness duration as well as the 5% permanent movement speed.
With givers armor and snowflake trinkets you can achieve 106% Boon duration if you wanted to but as this gear is quite expensive and the stats propably not desireable, i will ignore that in my calculation.
So with food, traits and gear you can get 90% Boon Duration pretty easily and cheap.
With focus 4, that will mean over 90% swiftness uptime out of combat.
If you trait for focus, you will only need 66% Boon Duration to get perma swiftness, giving you some room in chosing your runeset or deciding how deep you want to trait into Chaos.
Problem solved?
I dont think they will ever give mesmers a 25% movement speed signet simply because it would be too imbalanced in wvw.
The only way i could maybe see this implemented is by only granting the speed bonus out of combat and it not being able to slot in conjunction with Portal, meaning it would have to be an elite skill and moving Portal from Utility to Elite as well.

I think it would be fair to make wxp ranks account bound but that should also mean that you can only allocate your rank points across all your characters not the full amount to each of them.
You have 4 characters at rank 50 each?
Feel free to spend 200 points on one character or 100 points on 2 characters each.
But dont expect to be able to spend 200 rank points on each of your alts.

The trick is to give advantages to small group play without punishing zergs. One way to do this is to provide advantages using the “team” grouping mechanic. Coordinated team play vs. uncoordinate zerg balls would provide modest benefits.
1. The only people who can revive a fallen ally are people in their team. (for WvW only, of course). This would promote grouping and organized play (coordinated small group>larger numbers of random people not grouped/teamed up), not punish zergs, and equalize the playing field a bit when larger numbers go up against smaller numbers. Alternatively, you could leave as is, and double the revive rate if only team mates are reviving the fallen.
2. Team stats buff. You get a 2% decrease in damage taken per active team member within 600 meters. Thus a coordinated 5 member team is taking 10% less damage…this would really help in taking on larger numbers.
3. Buffs applied to team mates last 10% longer.
4. Field effects with finishers are 5% more effective if produced by team mates. To get the bonus, one team mate would need to lay the field, and another would need to set off the finisher. (this one might be too complicated to implement)
Anyway, these are just some quick ideas. But I think finding ways to buff coordinated team play without punishing larger zergs holds promise for promoting small scale skirmishes.
The down state and AOE limit aren’t changing. But there could be buffs given to small group play to help offset these zerg-friendly mechanics.
The problem with your suggestion is that, if they were implemented, might be an incentive to solo roamers to group up but the zerg will also benefit from it.
During guild raids, we usually run with 30 people, give or take, everybody grouped up and close together. How do you prevent us from getting your buffs that were intended to benefit only a group of 5?

So, for those that earned WXP the hard way, will their be an adjustment of their rank? It should be pretty easily to mathematically calculate what WxP a person would have based on the new equation and boost them to that.
If you earned more WXP than others until now, you will earn more WXP than them after the change as well.

Nice Idea, but using 1 weapon on different builds might be a problem, if gear from other builds stays in the build gear slots.
This would also give you “free” extra storage space that you usually would have to pay for (extra bags or bank slots), so Anet will lose out on potential gem sales.
Then again, we got the wallet for free as well, i expected it to be a gem store item.

This sounds amusing. About as amusing how people build trebs at gates and rams on hills. Thanks for the tip.
Trebs in short distance behind your keep gates are actually quite effective for defending them against golem rushes during the night. Just takes one person to do it, i killed plenty of golems with this tactic.
Rams also have their defensive purposes. The Flame blast not only burns your foes but also provides a fire field to combo in and most importantly, fears up to 50 (!) targets for 3 seconds. This can cause quite some distress in enemy mobs that are running through a chokepoint or along a cliff and laugh about the “noob” that dared to build a flame ram there.
Some time back, if you popped the flame blast and left the ram for another player to take over, the 15s cooldown of the skill would also reset, making it spammable. Not sure if they fixed it though or if it is working as indended.
I am not sure, if the knockback on the no1 skill also hits up to 50 targets but if thats the case, i am sure you will find it even more useful in the open field.
Put some superior runes of Perplexity on your armor for extra-lulz.

The much larger problem is that these players are exploiting the loot and wvw exp systems.
A 20v20 GvG of 5 rounds takes about 1 hour if you consider all the preparations that go into it. if we would win all 5 rounds, thats 100 kills.
During 1 hour of regular raiding, we get way more kills/loot than during a GvG, so nobody is in it for the loot. Also, as soon as you killed the other guild once, they barely give you any WXP anymore.
Also, all the guilds on our server that do gvgs and those we fight from our opposing servers are the top guilds on the server who, in general, have the highest impact on PPT when not involved in a GvG and taking/defending objectives.
GvGs dont take up more than 5% of our overall time in wvw.

With this in mind, I really wish Anet would allow the TP to take in orders with 4 digits, meaning up to 9,999. That would save so much time when placing Buy Orders in bulk.
If you want to buy inn bulk, 250 is currently the limit.
However, if you click the Place Order Button very quick a couple of times, you can actually place multiple stack orders before the price switches back to default and the amount to 1.
With this method, you can easily buy 8-10 stacks at once.
I am not sure, if that works also when you want to buy directly instead of placing orders because the price of each stack will increase but it definately works when placing a buy order.

As for RiOT: I hope we do meet up some time this week!
My post was a reply to Crad explaining him why he might have had a hard time to find you.
During our raid, we went looking for your guild in order to beat you.
Our guilds have met on a number of occasions in the last couple of days and everybody who was in those fights, knows the outcome.
Personally, I think its pretty pointless to argue numbers of open field battles on the forums because in those fights, its hard to determine the exact number of the opposition due to tight stacking, pets, clones, stealth or other people entering the fight. So I try to avoid that.
Being outnumbered is the prime excuse/explaination for losing a fight, I think that applies to all servers, guilds or groups.
My post was not meant disrespectful, maybe with a bit of cheek.
If you took offense on that, I hereby apologize.
If you are looking for a balanced fight, that is what GvG is for.
To my best knowledge, your guild has an invite for that pending.

The replaced (most of) the Black Lion Chest Key drops from Black Lion Chests not the key drop rate from mobs or other sources.

My guess would be that each profession can craft ingredients that are needed to craft ascended items. I dont think that ascended armor/weapons will be crafted by the corresponding professions but in the mystic forge.

You’re assuming the price of quartz crystals doesn’t shoot through the roof once the Bazaar is gone?
I’m assuming that, just by doing your normal questing and dungeons while the event is still on, you’re gonna have enough quartz for a full set of armor – we’re not talking about investing time to farm the thing, it’s literaly being given to you in bulk for doing nothing out of the ordinary.
Since you can’t sell the armor, you only need to craft it once and be done with it. What happens with the price of quartz after that is irrelevant (unless you have to re-craft ascended Celestial armor from scratch, that is).So you’re saying everyone and their mother will have 6000 crystals in their bank to cover all 8 characters they have? Granted they will get more from the home node, but in most cases the supply will be smaller than demand.
You need 8 months anyways to make enough charged chrystals to deck out 8 characters.
