most of the EU population is german.
Do you have any evidence to support this?
Well, it wont be the majority of all EU population (but it will be close, i assume) but german is the most common spoken native language from all players on EU servers.
Sorry but this is nonsense. English the most spoken language in the EU, its the “international buisness” language. Its taught all over Europe as a second language. Spanish and French players speak some english, many German players speak English and the Nordic counrties generally speak excellent English.
So no German is definately not the most common language. Its not even close.
You completely missed my point. I highlighted in my original post what you seem to have misread.
Also GW2 sold more copies in Germany than in any other european country.
Edit: For reference:
16% of all EU citizens have german as their first language,
13% each have italian or english
12% have french
8% have spanish or polish
as their first language.

If i take 4 green aquabreathers, can I get 1 gold tequila aquabreather?
if i take 4 green minis, can i get specific recipee minis like Chainsaw the skeleton?
4 golds that aren’t twisted, can they make mini steamrider/hulk?Basically are there limits to what items the Forge can give, or is it literally everything in the game?
Putting 4 aquabreathers into the mystic forge usually awards you with a random armor piece, not necessarily with an aquabreather and i doubt that the teq breathers are available this way.
You also cant get special minis randomly, only through its designated recipe.
I am actually surprised it isn’t cheaper at the moment. There is just so much of it coming from all over the place.
I buy at least 6ooo ore per day for crafting and i know that i am not the only one.
If you pay 200g, you are doing something wrong.
You propably follow a mediocre guide on the internet that everybody else uses and dont gather stuff yourself.
The 200g figure also doesnt subtract the money you get back from selling the stuff you crafted.
If you know what you are doing and know the market, you can even make a profit while leveling from 400 to 500.
Pretty sure it is utterly impossible to make a profit.
After taking in to account the cost of mats (which you should be doing) I also can’t see making much of a profit if any. Sure, selling crafted exotics would be pure profit if you gathered all the mats yourself, but so would selling those mats as well.
I wont give you a full guide on how to make profit while lvling to 500 because thats for me to know and you to find out. After all, i make my gold selling my mats and items that i aquired cheaply to people like you, that just dont know better, at a premium.
No offense intended.
I give you one example:
Yesterday i crafted and sold a Sentinel Rifle for nearly 14g, so 11.9g revenue after fees and taxes.
Crafting cost as of now:
Sentinel Inscription – 6.85g on buy order
Ori Rifle Barrel – 15 silver on buy order
Ancient Rifle Stock – 60 silver on buy order
11.9-6.85-0.15-0.6= 4.3g pure profit
Thats a Return of Investment of 60% and with a crafting booster active, you just gained 2 crafting levels, earning 2g per craft lvl.
Screenshot of my sale a day ago is attached.
Nevermind that i bought over 50 sentinel inscriptions for 2-3g each right after the patch when everybody panic sold his stocks because they became available from the commendations vendor, so my profits where actually doubled from this example.
Still not convinced?
Try putting in buy orders for fine darksteel weapons and salvage them. You will get 1-3 platinum ore or hard wood logs per salvage. This way i got the mats for my deldrimor ingots and spiritwood planks for 50% of the current TP value. I just salvaged until i had double the amount i needed and sold my excess on the tp to you guys to cover my initial investment costs. No pure profit here, unless i would salvage more than double the amount that i need for myself but lots of essences of luck along the way for free.
The same method applies to the lower tier ore and wood you need.
As i said, you have to know the market in order to make a profit and you still need 50-100g for buy orders to get started but in the end, its possible to end up with more gold than you started with. And a good bump in account mf.
You are welcome.
If you know what you are doing and know the market, you can even make a profit while leveling from 400 to 500.
Except you probably need the dark matter you get from salvaging the exotic items you make.
For Dark Matter i bought Settlers trinkets during the first days after the patch for around 80 silver.
The resale value of the salvaged ectos and exquisite passion flowers was far higher at that time than the 80 silver for the trinkets.
I salvaged dozens of them and have 87 dark matter left in my bank after crafting 2 ascended weapons.
I made profit on generating dark matter.
Heavy loot Bags.
B/c we all know anet just wants you to do kitten longer so you stay in there messed up little fantasy world.. With so much broken atm I am amazed at the praise people are giving them. They need to fix class bugs that have been there from launch and stop the treadmill gear progression they have begun.
And i have tested this to. You don’t have any real chance of getting ectos anymore. I salvaged about 15 rares got 3. That’s a bit steep even for me.
It’s just another carrot on a stick anet is putting out there for us..
I salvage 100-200 rares per day. I get an average of ~90 ectos per 100 salvages for months now.

And it wouldnt be manipulating anyways.
Its an open market.
If there was no timer, everybody could just go and spam 1 again.
Depends on how much buffs you get from other players.
You can get PVT Exotic gear from the temples in Orr btw.
Sigils and potions of undead slaying are far more important to buff your dps, as precision and crit damage are rendered useless.
Ok you can’t count the timer glitches as official time cutoffs. Nice try though.
What timer glitches?
Hi Guys,
By the looks of it, many servers brought down Teq now repeatedly.
I wonder who killed him the fasted.
On Aurora Glade, we managed to get him down with more than 3 minutes to spare.
I have to check our footage, once its uploaded but i think we finished him in 11m40s.
What is your personal or server record?
Ok so it’s a well know fact that mithril ore is one of the most common mats in the game and events like the molten facility and with the recent patch making salvaging good for us players the price of the ore has plummeted. Now like with the molten facility I took a shot and invested a lot of gold buying the cheap mithril but the question is now so many people are salvaging what do people think will happen to mithril ore on the tp. Stay like this from now on, go even lower like silk/leather or go back to the way it used to be?
Mithril is a very bad long term investment.
Even if it should rise by 100% in a month (from 30-60c), the profit per slot is still miniscule.
Now a stack of ore costs about 75 silver. If it rises by 100% in a month, yu will gain about 66 silver per stack.
Thats not alot of profit for giving up one inventory slot.
If i buy items for long time investment i want at least 10g profit/inventory slot/month.
Celestial Recipes are a good example. During the Bazaar 2 months ago, you could buy them for 2 silver on the TP, so a stack cost you 5 gold.
Now most of them are in the price range of 50s-1g, so if you sell now for 50s, you get a profit of over 100g per stack after deducting 18.75g for fees and taxes and the 5g investment.
if your trying to boost your magic find on purpose dont buy blues and greens.
So if your going for high magic find do it the right way.
When you invest 82g and only get 70g+ back, this sounds like a net loss to me.
If you buy the right items, you make a guaranteed profit, while getting essences of luck.
Aurora Glade killed him with more than 3 minutes remaining today.
We had alot of Dollies.
I think there’s so much scammers among the ppl who sell their items from mail.
I would never trust them. This game just needs a safe trading system between 2 players like gw1’s trading system. Until this feature comes, don’t trust anyone and buy your items from tp.
The Trading Post is exactly that, a safe trading system.
The tax and fee is also a great gold sink to keep inflation in check.
What I find funny is I’m still getting those useless sub level 80 transmute stones!!!? Tell me how that helps my character in any way? LOL
if you havent completed the transmutation achievement, those are a cheap way to get some APs.
A month ago, i opened 20k light bags of booty and made profits, selling all the mats i got, while keeping the silver doubloons (89 in total). Granted, at that time t2 mats were quite expensive and bags cheap but i still generated 89 silver doubloons while making gold.
So you could afford 20k bags? Sounds fishy. Try that right now and tell me how it works. A side note: It would take you a VERY LONG time to farm those bags. AND it took you 20k bags to get just 89? Holy wow that must have sucked to click those all open.
And now silver doubloons have reach over 1.8g/ea they challenge charged lodestones as the costlier legendary ingredient. BUT you need 250 silver doubloons and not just 100 of them. Plus, there is only 203 of them on the market as of this post. To buy them all would cost you 600g and still not have the 250 you need.
If you think I’m complaining, you’re right but this is something that needs to be addressed. I would like to make my legendary before the end of the year but that seems impossible now. The amount of time to “gather” these silver doubloons is just atrocious. Gold farmers are hurting us players bad here and something needs to happen from Anet to ease our pain.
Only those who need these doubloons know the pain of trying to afford/attain them. Good luck and good hunting!
Back then, those bags cost between 70-80 copper. so not more than 2g per stack.
Thats only 160g for 80 stacks and i didnt say i farmed the bags myself, so nothing fishy about it. During that time, you could also sell the t2 mats, which those bags mostly contained, between 3-4 silver. So after after buying 2 stacks, opening them and selling the mats, i could buy 4 more stacks with my profit.
It also doesnt suck that much to open them all, if you key-bind double-click to your mouse wheel. I also think obtaining 89 of them within 2 weeks while making more than 200g profit for turning my mousewheel was quite a good way to go about it, as I could have used my profits to buy the remaining 161 doubloons i needed.
But at that time, i already had my Juggernaut for a month or so, so i did this only for profit.
The inscription you get from salvaging exotic non crafted weapons with dire stats, as a rare salvage drop.
Or buy it from the TP.

Just a thought, how about having a week with little to no hate on forum? I’m sure it will be more fun this way.
But, but….. we can still be hatin´ on Anet for the Bloodlust Buff, cant we?
Said no one ever.
Yes, they can.
15 chars
I guess my question is what is the best use of my laurels? I have about 60 of them and sit on them because I don’t know what the most effective use is for them.
ascended gear.
Where is my money man?
Lol, leather and silk. I kinda expect you to have like at least two and a half stacks of locked black lion chests in one of your other bank tabs.
TLDR:- is anet manipulating the trading post that’s supposed to be player driven?
No.
Awesome and your source?
No.
Your sauce?
Gravy all the way.
Ascended MAts didnt replace anything in the loot tables.
If you dont want them, destroy them. You wont be getting less loot than before.
For condition fighters, we need two sets of armor, two sets of ascended. Just to be useful in pvp and pve. We have to learn two builds and change every time we want to do WvWvW or PvE. It is honestly getting old.
What is wrong with running running different builds in wvw and pve?
I also run zerker in pve and pvt in wvw?
Whatever takes your fancy.
I made far beyond 3000 gold with crafting in a year. 90% of the mats i use to craft, i get from the TP, 9% i get form salvaging, the last % is propably mats that i gathered.
The vast majority of crafted items wont yield you a profit but still, many do.
But you have to know the value of the mats that you are using and the cheapest way to obtain them.
And the golden rule: Always put in buy orders and dont sell directly to the highest bidder.
I’ve seen the so call purchase walls. For example someone put in 5000 orch ore order at higher price, then another 5000 orch ore buy order at 1 copper price lower. This create a buy order wall … now that is market manipulation.
There’s nothing special about buy ordering 5000 ore. You do know that creating for example one Dusk/Dawn requires on average 42,000 ore? There’s a multitude of players who are Mystic Forging their way to precursors, and competing against each other with material buy orders to create them cheaper.
42,000 orch ore at 5 silver each is 210,000 silver (2,100 gold). Dawn price = 600g to 800g. I think you are wrong. BTW I have a sunrise.
He meant ore in general, not orichalcum ore specifically.
I use over 30k mithril ore per week for crafting and i am only one person. Ascended crafting is another ore sink right now.
And it’s boring as f…k
I could just aswell run the easy dungeon paths over and over again to get empyreal frags, but guess what? That’s boring too!
So how do you want to aquire them?
After i got my first ascended weapon, i stopped farmng for them specifically and guess what, they still keep dropping.
I mostly play wvw and get 50-100 from it per day. Then i do the occasional dungeon run, if something pops up in guild chat and do 3 jumping puzzles if its a daily.
I get an average of 100 shards per day, which is, in my opinion, a fair rate to aquire them.
Do you really expect to only use one build to the same effect no matter what content you are playing?
Wouldnt that be boring?
You should be happy that its so easy to change builds in this game.I hope you aren’t serious. Change trait/utility isn’t change build. To change a build you need a whole set of armor+weapon+accessory. And ascended accessories/ring/etc are mostly time-gated.
I am serious because you dont need ascended gear to change your build, exotics will do. I have 6 different sets of armor and over 15 weapons. For trinkets, i usually use ascended celestial ones, so i dont have to change that much. That way, i dont spike in my build but its well enough for any content.
Do you really expect to only use one build to the same effect no matter what content you are playing?
Wouldnt that be boring?
You should be happy that its so easy to change builds in this game.As long as you don’t want to do it to cope with the content right in your face, of course, since there’s no way to respec without going back to a city (or newbie area just outside the racial city gates).
There are Trait trainers on every map in WvW, which is accessible for free from anywhere in the world. Once youre done, log out to character select, log back in and you are right back where you were.
Very constructive post. This really needed a topic?
So what is it then? Do people create walls ALL THE TIME? or Does it ONLY happen on cheaper items?
Sorry Mr. Pedantic. If you didnt understand what I meant then its not worth explaining to you.
I just dont understand why you have to exaggerate to prove your point. And i dont need explaining on how this economy works because i generate enough gold in it for myself to not go to the forums and complain about it if someone undercuts me.
I for one liked the post and had this very same thing happen to me with just flipping one item. I placed low buy orders, got the items at that low number & re-posted it at the current market price. after a while the same thing happened a wall appeared making it not profitable to flip the items anymore. I left my buy orders up at that low price & when I signed on again the buy orders had been taken down.. Is this an exploit? and was that Anets way of saying NO NO. My feeling is if some idiot wants to sell me something bellow market value then let them…..
The current market value changes all the time and you are not entitled to make a profit with flipping. Many resources are obtained in many different ways.
Crafting materials for example come from direct drops, salvaging, harvesting, loot bags, etc.
I heard people going out to harvest platinum nodes again when the price for darksteel ingots went up. I just bought white lvl 65 weapons for half the price of platinum ore and salvaged them. It took me an hour to have more than 1000 buy orders filled and salvage it. I am sorry for those people that value their platinum more than me because they have to run around maps for hours, if not days to get those 5 stacks that i got in an hour. But it doesnt stop me from dumping my platinum into the market again for 20% less than what they think is the current market value.
I also was flipping an item regularly, buying for 60s and selling for 1G. Then i realized that i can craft that item for kitten because the resource prices went down. I started listing at 80s and selling instantly because people thought the current market value was 1G. I might make less profit per item compared to listing at 1G but i would sell 2-3 times more items per hour thus increasing my profit per hour.

Please make champion bags have a chance to drop the Dragonite Ore or Empyreal Fragments instead of the Dust. Or, have different types of champion bags drop different materials.
My feather duster can’t keep up.
Thank you.
Maybe do something else except riding the champ train.

Point is, there will always be a way to get silver doubloons way under market value, you just have to go against the trend.
Pebbles for example are quite expensive now but are at 62.5G still the cheapest way generate a stack of doubloons according to your calculation.
Did you ever consider buying cheap low lvl trinkets to salvage the pebbles on it instead of buying the pebbles on the tp for 1.25 silver? If you put in buy orders (they fill quite fast, i just did) you can generate pebbles for 50 copper, if you sell the ore.
You also get essences of luck along the way.
Due to the vast amount of topics being opened on silver doubloons every week on the forums, you make people aware of a rising market and this wont help the price to go down.
Just be creative in the way to obtain them and stop complaining on the forums.
Sigil of Fire was plummeting long before ascended.
The reason is simple. Casuals take a while to catch up with the true pve meta. And they started realizing it’s an inferior sigil.
Inferior sigil? I tend to disagree, depending on what you are going for in a build. What sigil do you prefer for AoE damage?
Well generally if I want AoE damage I run a weapon I can AoE with.
Bloodlust, Perception and Force sigils are much more reliable DPS boosts without relying on a random proc.
Bloodlust and Perception becomes obsolete, once you gained your 25 stacks and you ca nswitch it out for Fire.
Problem is that people don’t check the other listings, they just list their item at the same price (or below) the lowest current listing, which screws the value of the item over completely.
Wrong. If I want to sell something worth 30G, first i click: Buy more on Trading Post, to check how buy and sell listings look like. Then i decide, if i want to sell my item now, or wait.
Thats not wrong. Just because you check doesnt meant most people do. People create walls all the time because of pointless undercutting. Usually only happens on cheaper items but it still happens and its very irritating. So many mats arent worth selling on the tp thanks to excessive undercutting.
So what is it then? Do people create walls ALL THE TIME? or Does it ONLY happen on cheaper items?
it aggravates me to no end when someone lists 1 item at buy order price + 1c. to me, they effectively hide the actual selling price, so I have to search for the item on the TP, see that the next-lowest price is 60s above that, then go list mine at that price instead. people wanting to manipulate the market… (their goal is that someone like me won’t take the time to notice they drastically decreased the sell price, hoping that I’ll sell 250 at that price, then they’ll buy all 250, remove their listing, relist at actual price. it’s like buy orders but requires more work and makes people who know to look for it annoyed.
if that sell listing gives anything close to a profit if I bought and sold at actual price, I buy it and laugh at their misfortune.
I think, if items are listed 1c over highest bidder its most of the time a miss click by the seller.
For example you want to get rid of a stack (250) of ore and want to sell to the highest bidder. But the highest bidder only listed a buy order for 200 ore. If you mark the option to sell to the highest bidder and click sell maximum, you will sell 200 ore to him directly and the tp will list the remaining 50 ore at that price.
CoE does have it, they replaced one of the armor sets that was there. I knew about Errols and didnt want to pay 20g+ for it.
But thanks.
I hate fighting condition bunker builds anyways.
Nearly all sigils have fallen in price since ascended crafting came in. I think it has to do with everyone trying to salvage rares (rather than forging) in order to get essence of luck.
Extra rare sigils start to flood the market, pushing the price down. Furthermore, this makes it cheaper to forge more exotic sigils but that pushes the price down as well.
Rares dont give luck directly, only if you salvage the ectos that you get from them.
I think its a combination of mayor sigils flooding the market from salvages and being upgraded in the mystic forge and the steep rise of exotics being salvaged for dark matter.
Even though crafted exotics got very cheap due to the oversupply from craft leveling and were available for under 1G, it was still better to buy exotics with sigils on it that were worth something.
I expect prices for superior sigils and runes to go up again gradually.
I bought alot of them in the last 2 weeks to sell later on for profit.
I remember seeing a rare lvl 80 berserker greatsword selling for 60s when other similar rare greatswords were at 20s. I undercut all the way to 30s because 60s is unsustainable and I would waste my fee)
I beg to differ.
